In recent years, reagents based on conjugates of oligonucleotides with gold nanoparticles are being actively developed for specific detection of nucleic acids. The bonds between the thiol groups in oligonucleotides and the gold atoms in nanoparticles stabilize the molecular structures of the conjugates. The strength of the binding of oligonucleotides to gold nanoparticles directly affects the stability of the conjugates and determines the possibility of further manipulations. In this paper, we proposed a method to strengthen the oligonucleotide attachment to the surface of gold nanoparticles using dithiolane-containing anchors. We studied the influence of the anchor structure on the stability of the conjugates under conditions which are usually used during manipulations with oligonucleotide probes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
