The article looks at the political gridlock in the U.S. under the leadership of President Barack Obama as of 2010. It is emphasized that the passage of important reform legislation such as those on health care and climate change have been opposed or have taken longer time to be approved in the Congress due to the inability of the Democrats and Republicans to reach a consensus. The political gridlock is said to have been a result of the increased use of filibusters in the Senate. The views of U.S. citizens about the current political situation are cited.
