In 2023, rice production reached 523.9 million tons, making it the fourth most produced crop globally. Accounting for 14% of global fertilizer use, the demand for rice continues to increase. However, the unbalanced application of NPK fertilizers poses significant environmental risks. An integrated nutrient management approach, combining organic and inorganic sources, offers a cost-effective solution to meet crop nutritional needs while enhancing soil health. Therefore, a field experiment was conducted in Experimental Farm of Annamalai University during kuruvai (June-September) 2023 to evaluate the effect of different levels of inorganic fertilizers with different sources of organic manures along with foliar zinc sulphate on the yield and yield components in lowland rice. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with nine treatments. These treatments included different sources of organic manures viz., farm yard manure, vermicompost, press mud and poultry manure and foliar application of zinc sulphate. The results revealed that combining 75% nitrogen through urea and 25% nitrogen from vermicompost and 100 % P and K along with foliar application of zinc sulphate (0.5%) at 25 and 50 days after transplanting (DAT) significantly improved all nutrient uptake of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium and also yield parameters viz., number of productive tillers m-2, number of filled grains/panicle, grain yield, straw yield and harvest index of rice. The experiment was carried out for two consecutive years 2017–19 during autumn season at Sugarcane Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, Buralikson, India, with three planting techniques, viz. M1: conventional method of planting, M2: planting of bud chip settling at 90 cm × 60 cm and M3: planting of bud chip settling at 120 cm × 60 cm under main plot and five INM practices, viz. F1: 100% RDF (inorganic) 135- 70- 60 N-P2O5-K2O kg ha−1, F2: 100% RDF + vermicompost @ 1 t ha−1 + green manuring + biofertilizers (Azotobacter + PSB) @ 10 kg ha−1, F3:100% RDF + enriched compost @1t ha−1 + green manuring, F4: 75% RDF + FYM @ 5 t ha−1 + vermicompost @ 1 t ha−1 + green manuring + biofertilizers (Azotobacter + PSB) @ 10 kg ha−1 and F5: 75% RDF + FYM @ 5 t ha−1 + enriched compost @1 t ha−1 + green manuring under sub-plot. The planting of bud chip settlings at 120 cm × 60 cm significantly improved most of the plant growth parameters including root length (24.23 cm), root dry weight (32.77 g) and dry matter accumulation (183.16 g) per plant. The yield-attributing parameters like cane length, number of millable canes, cane weight and number of internodes were also improved under this planting technique resulting in high cane (120.92 t ha−1) as well as CCS yield (14.28 t ha−1). This planting technique recorded 20.15% higher cane yield than the conventional three-budded setts indicating a promising technique for cane growers. In respect of integrated nutrient management, application of vermicompost @ 1 t ha−1 along with incorporation of green manuring of cowpea, biofertilizers @ 10 kg ha−1 and 100% NPK (F2) was found to be more effective in improving the plant growth parameters as well as cane yield production by producing 113.28 t ha−1 of cane yield, 13.43 t ha−1 of CCS yield and 10.40 t ha−1 of jaggery yield. Background: In this study, the impact of integrated nutrient management practice in cereal based cropping sequence has been examined. A detail study about the impact of INM in the above cropping system for last 8 years has been carried out. Methods: On-station research experiments were conducted at Karjat centre of district Raigad of Maharashtra, under the ICAR-Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research, Modipuram, Meerut of ICAR-All India Co-ordinated Research Project during the years 2010- 11 to 2017-18 on integrated nutrient supply (INM) system in rice-rice (Oryza sativa L.) cropping system at Karjat. Result: 100% recommended NPK dose through fertilizers was identified as the best INM practice at Karjat during kharif season. A field experiment was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh state, India to assess the effect of Integrated Nutrient Management on Soybean [(Glycine max (L.) Merrill] – Wheat (Triticum aestivum) for productivity, nutrient uptake and fertility balance during 2008-09 and 2009-10. 18 treatment included use of 50, 75, 100% NPK to soybean and wheat with combination of FYM, Vermicompost and cow pat pit (CPP) were tested. All growth parameters were recorded significantly higher with the application of 100% NPK through fertilizer+5 t ha-1 FYM during 2008-09 and 2009-10. Pooled Seed yield (2.52 t ha-1), straw yield (2.54 t ha-1), nutrient uptake (216.35 kg N, 34.70 kg P and 89.50 K kg ha-1) of soybean were also found significantly higher with the same application. The growth parameters of wheat have been found significantly higher with 100% NPK to wheat+residual effect of 50% NPK and FYM @ 10 t ha-1 in the kharif crop during two years. Pooled Seed yield (4.95 t ha-1), straw yield (4.99 t ha-1) and harvest index (49.75 %) of wheat were also obtained highest with same treatment combination during experiment. The soil nutrient status after harvest of second year wheat crop, the available N, P and K in soil were analyzed significantly higher under 100% NPK with residual effect of FYM @ 10 t ha-¹ + 50% NPK over rest of the treatments. The field experiments were conducted at Horticultural Research Station, SKLTSHU, Adilabad, Telangana State, India during rabi seasons (October-February) of 2015-16 and 2016-17 to study the effect of Integrated Nutrient Management practices on dry matter production and nutrient uptake of hyacinth bean in baby corn-hyacinth bean cropping system. Experiment was laid in Randomized Block Design for baby corn during kharif 2015 with seven treatments comprised of 100% recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF 150:60:60 N, P2O5 and K2O kg ha-1), 25% N supplemented through farm yard manure or vermicompost+75% RDF with or without bio-fertilizers Azospirillum and Bacillus megaterium @ 5 kg ha-1 each in addition to control and replicated thrice. Each main treatment was divided into four subplots and the treatments of 100% RDF (20-50 N, P2O5 kg ha-1) and 75% RDF with or without Bradyrhizobium @ 500 g ha-1 (seed treatment) were imposed for hyacinth bean in rabi season and data of rabi 2015-16 and 2016-17 was analyzed in split plot design. Application of 25% N through FYM in conjunction with 75% RDF and bio-fertilizer to baby corn during kharif and 100% RDF along with seed treatment with Bradyrhizobium to hyacinth bean during rabi resulted in significantly higher dry matter production at various growth stages and nutrient uptake (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) over rest of the treatments. A field experiment was carried out at Instructional-cum-farm, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhatduring kharif 2015. The experiment was laid out in split-plot design replicated thrice with four sowing dates in main plots viz., 1 May, 11 May, 21 and 31 May along with combination of two methods of sowing viz., direct seeding and transplanting as well as with two nutrient management practices RDF and INM package in sub-plots. Results revealed that May 11date recorded significantly higher in almost all the growth and yield attributing parameters followed by May 1. The highest grain (40.24 q/ha) and straw (68.07 q/ha) yields were obtained in May 11 sown crop and was significantly superior to that of May 21and May 31. Between the two methods of sowing, transplanting resulted significantly superior in regards to almost all the growth, yield attributes and yield of sali rice. The increase in grain yield under transplanting over direct seeding was4.90 per cent. The corresponding increase in straw yield was 4.31 per cent In respect of nutrient management; INM resulted in higher grain and straw yieldsover RDF. From the economic point of view May 11 sown crop recorded the highest net return (. 57625.00/ha) with B:C ratio of 1.57 whereas in case of methods of sowing and nutrient management practices, direct seeding and INM practice recorded the highest net return and B:C ratio. A field experiment was conducted in Dharwad district, Karnataka during kharif season of 2015-2016, with an objective to assess the effectiveness of nutrient management practices and organic amendments on yield and economics of chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) hybrid Sitara. The results revealed that the maximum yield parameters were recorded due to adoption of INM practices (among nutrient management practices) and Panchagavya (among organic amendments). A field experiment was conducted to study the effects of integrated nutrient management practices on yield, quality and nutrient status of drilled rabi fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill) during the year 2016-17 at College Agronomy Farm, Anand Agricultural University, Anand. Twelve treatment combinations comprising of various integrated nutrient management practices were tested in randomized block design with four replications in sandy loam type of soil having slightly alkaline pH, low organic carbon and available nitrogen content, medium available phosphorus and high available potassium status. Results shown that treatment with 100 % N from vermi compost + bio NPK @ 1 lit ha-1 produced significantly higher seed yield which was found comparable with all the treatments barring those applied with 50 % RDF along with 50% N from compost or vermi compost as well as 50 % RDF + 25% N from compost and vermi compost. Significantly highest microbial population was also found in the same treatment. Though available nitrogen and phosphorus were remained unaffected by IMN treatments, nitrogen content in seed and its uptake in seed as well as in stover had been affected significantly. The cumulative and residual effects of integrated nutrient management of kharif rice on soil enzyme activities i.e urease, phosphatase, dehydrogenase and cellulase at different growth stages of rabi greengram were tested in an Inceptisol in North Coastal Zone of Andhra Pradesh during rabi 2009 and 2010. Results revealed that all the cumulative treatments showed higher soil enzyme activities at different stages of greengram than their corresponding residual treatments in both the years. Urease, phosphatase, dehydrogenase and cellulase activities at different growth stages of the greengram gradually increased over the age of the crop and attained higher activity at flowering and gradually decreased at harvest. All the enzyme activities except cellulase were significantly higher in the plots which received 75 % RDFN + vegetable market waste vermicompost @ 2.5 t ha-1, during preceding rice crop. It was closely followed by 75 % RDFN + weed vermicompost @ 2.5 t ha-1 and 100 % Prathista organic manures. Whereas higher cellulase activity was recorded in paddy straw vermicompost treated plots. The investigation consisted SSNM through fertilizers for targeted yield of 8 and 10 t ha-1, SSNM through INM for targeted yield of 8 and 10 t ha-1, STCR through fertilizers for targeted yield of 8 and 10 t ha-1, STCR through INM for targeted yield of 8 and 10 t ha-1. These eight treatments were compared with 100 per cent RDF and100 per cent RDF + FYM @ 10 t ha-1, and were replicated thrice. Among the treatments, SSNM through fertilizers for targeted yield of 10 t ha-1 recorded higher dry matter production (501.4 g), cob length (20.3 cm), number of grain rows cob-1 (20.5), number of grains row-1 (41.3), number of grains plant-1 (891.2) test weight (32.9 g) and significantly higher grain yield (9.77 t ha-1) as compared to other treatments. Whereas, significantly lower cob length (16.5 cm) number of grain rows cob-1 (13.6), number of grains row-1 (31.4), number of grains plant-1 (426.7) test weight (21.4 g), Grain yield (4.04 t ha-1) were recorded in the treatment with the application of 100 % RDF. A field experiment was conducted during Kharif season 2014 at the Research farm of Soil Science, Allahabad School of Agriculture, laid out in randomized block design, consisted nine treatments and three replications, it was observed that growth and yield of green gram in treatment N20P40K40+ FYM @10 t ha-1 and Rhizobium was maximum. Maximum plant height 50.66 cm, number of leaves plant-1 33.00, number of branches plant-1 4.66 at 60 DAS, number of cluster plant-1 9.33, number of pods plant-1 37.33 and total seed yield 12.10 q ha-1 were found to be significant over all other treatment. A field experiment was carried out at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand tofind out the effect of different plant densities and integrated nutrient management on N, P and K content and uptake of quality protein maize (QPM) during spring 2010 in factorial randomized block design replicated thrice with three plant densities viz., 66,666, 83,333 and 100,000 plants ha-1 and five modes of nutrition viz., 100% recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF) inorganic, 125 % RDF inorganic, 100 % recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) through inorganic + 25 % RDN through organic, 75 % RDN through inorganic + 25 % RDN through organic and 50 % RDN through inorganic + 50 % RDN through organic The results revealed that high plant density resulted in reduction of N, P and K content in source as well as sink while fertilizer application either through inorganic alone or in variable combinations with organic did not influence nutrient content neither in source nor in sink.
