Objective. To assess nurses’ knowledge, attitude and practice towards using physical restraints among psychiatric patients. Methods. A descriptive cross sectional survey was carried out among conveniently selected sample of nurses working in psychiatry departments at a tertiary care center. The data was collected using self reported questionnaires of Suen. Results. The findings revealed that nurses had good knowledge (7.2±1.7, maximum posible=11), favorable attitudes 30.8± 3.3 (maximum posible=48) and good practice 31.2±6.2 (maximun posible=42) about use of physical restraints in psychiatric patients. One aimed to present an experience report about the use of the problematization strategy in the teaching of the course Care Process in Psychiatric Nursing offered in the undergraduate nursing course at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas. One adopted as the methodology of the study a non-systematic observation and assessment of the theoretical productions developed by the students in the first semester of 2012. One believes that the change in the education of nurses must follow a new paradigm that redirects the relationship between professionals and the community, and that directs health actions in order to meet the real needs of the population. Despite the difficulties identified, one concluded that the use of this learning strategy can bring advantages and contributions to the teaching of psychiatric nursing.

The research aimed to characterize patients affected by Identity Disorders and Sexual Behavior and identify their occurrence by sex, as well as the patient's origin, diagnosis and length of stay, type of admission and discharge and funding source for services rendered. This is a retrospective study conducted in a psychiatric clinic in the Midwest Miner. The sample consisted of 2715 patients, predominantly male (1518- 55.9%), age range 21-30 years (917- 33.7%), the origin of hospitalization for Psychosocial Care Centers (1123 - 41.3%), the diagnosis of "Other Disorders of sexual preference" (2567- 94.5%), the residence time of 1 to 30 days (1770-65.2%), the high medical (1818-66,9%), the first admissions (1775-65.3%) and Health System as the main funder (2004 to 73.1%). It was evident that the disorders are more common in young men and it was realized how little knowledge of health professionals about these disorders.

We observe an increase in the cases of alcoholic dependence among women. Nowadays, this kind of population has become to be considered in risk because of the use of experimental substances and addictive processes. Our research results that, among women, there exists an abuse of alcohol and its effects are very different from the ones in men. The different groups of population have suggested the need for adopting a gender view for the study and the treatment in women who are dependent of alcohol as well as other drugs.Methodology: It consists in a quasi-experimental before-and-after design. In this way, it is intended to evaluate the effects of a psycho- educational program oriented to a specific group: women with alcoholic dependence. It will deal with anxiety, assertiveness, awareness of the disease, own control of impulses and self-esteem.

O modelo de Análise do Processo Interativo (M.A.P.I.) contempla um processo de enfermagem através do qual ocorrem interações com a pessoa que precisa de ajuda e utiliza técnicas de análise do conteúdo para facilitar o diagnóstico da situação. O objetivo deste estudo foi operacionalizar e analisar o Modelo de Análise do Processo Interativo junto a um paciente psiquiátrico. Ocorreram cinco interações do enfermeiro com um usuário do Núcleo de Apoio Psico-Social (N.A.P.S.). De maneira esquematizada, apresentamos a evolução do processo de ajuda focalizando as necessidades do paciente identificadas e ações de enfermagem propostas para as interações, com o respectivo diagnóstico psicossocial. Verificou-se que o MAPI é viável tecnicamente e que a utilização desta análise permite avaliar, passo a passo, o processo interativo e acompanhar os progressos e retrocessos, podendo-se intervir no sentido de ajudar a pessoa que sofre. APPLICATION OF THE MODEL FOR ANALYSIS OF THE INTERACTIVE PROCESS (MAIP), WITH PSYCHIATRIC PATIENT Abstract The Interactive Process Model contains a nursing process where there are interactions with the person who needs help and content analysis techniques are utilized in order to facilitate the diagnosis of the situation. We aimed at operating and to analyse the Interactive Process Model with one psychiatric patient. There were five interactions between the nurse and one user of the Psychosocial Support Nucleus. In a schematized way we presented the evolution of the help process focussing the needs identified in the patient and the nursing actions proposed for following interactions, with the respective psychosocial diagnosis. It was verified that the Interactive Process Analysis Model is technically practicable and the utilization of this analysis allows to evaluate, step by step, the interactive process and follow the progresses and retrocessions been able to intervene help ping the person who suffers.
