The analysis of Pb+Pb data for net-charge fluctuations at LHC energies within the HYDJET++ model is presented. The strongly intensive quantities $D$ and $\Sigma$ are used to get rid of the effects related to volume fluctuations of the system. We employ two versions of the HYDJET++ for the analysis. The first one is the standard or default version, whereas the second one represents its further modification, which takes into account explicit event-by-event conservation of the electric net-charge of produced particles. Inclusion of the canonical net-charge conservation in the model allows one for better description of the experimental data obtained by the ALICE and the CMS Collaborations. Data from the Large Hadron Collider on the charge balance function in Pb+Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy 2.76~TeV per nucleon pair are analyzed and interpreted within the framework of the \hydjet++ model. This model allows us to qualitatively reproduce the experimentally observed centrality dependence of the balance function widths at relatively low transverse momentum intervals due to the different charge creation mechanisms in soft and hard processes. However, a fully adequate description of the balance function in these intervals implies an essential modification of the model by including exact charge conservation via the canonical rather than the grand canonical ensemble. A procedure is proposed for introducing charge correlations into the thermal model without changing other model parameters. With increasing transverse momenta, the default model results describe the experimental data much better because the contribution of the soft component of the model is significantly reduced in these transverse momentum intervals. In practical terms, there is a transition to a single source of charge correlations, namely, charge correlations in jets in which exact charge conservation holds at each stage., Comment: Matches published version

LHC data on the correlations of the elliptic flow $v_2$ of particles at low and high transverse momenta $p_T$ from Pb+Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02$ TeV are analyzed in the framework of the HYDJET++ model. This model includes soft and hard components which allows to describe the region of both low and high transverse momenta. The origin of $v_2$ values in different $p_T$ regions is investigated at different centralities. It is shown that the experimentally observed correlations between $v_2$ at low and high $p_T$ in peripheral lead-lead collisions is due to correlation of particles in jets.

The Nuclotron-base Ion Collider fAcility (NICA) is under construction at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), with commissioning of the facility expected in late 2022. The Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD) has been designed to operate at NICA and its components are currently in production. The detector is expected to be ready for data taking with the first beams from NICA. This document provides an overview of the landscape of the investigation of the QCD phase diagram in the region of maximum baryonic density, where NICA and MPD will be able to provide significant and unique input. It also provides a detailed description of the MPD set-up, including its various subsystems as well as its support and computing infrastructures. We present new results on the thermal production yield of a hypothetical state made of six quarks $uuddss$ assuming its production in heavy-ion collisions at the CERN LHC. A state with this quark content and mass low enough to be stable against decay in timescales of the order of the age of the Universe, has been hypothesized by one of us (G.F.) and has been discussed as a possible dark matter candidate. In this work we address for the first time the thermal production rate that can be expected for this state in heavy-ion collisions at colliders. For this estimate we use a thermal model which has been shown to describe accurately the production of hadrons and nuclei in heavy-ion collisions at LHC energy. This estimate is of great relevance for sexaquark searches at colliders as well as for its consideration as a dark matter candidate and for the composition of neutron stars., Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures

We suggest to explore an entirely new method to experimentally and theoretically study the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter based on the triple nuclear collisions (TNC). We simulated the TNC using the UrQMD 3.4 model at the beam center-of-mass collision energies $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200$ GeV and $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 2.76$ TeV. It is found that in the most central and simultaneous TNC the initial baryonic charge density is about 3 times higher than the one achieved in the usual binary nuclear collisions at the same energies. As a consequence, the production of protons and $\Lambda$-hyperons is increased by a factor of 2 and 1.5, respectively. Using the MIT Bag model equation we study the evolution of the central cell in TNC and demonstrate that for the top RHIC energy of collision the baryonic chemical potential is 2-2.5 times larger than the one achieved in the binary nuclear collision at the same type of reaction. A simple geometrical model with event-by-event fluctuations is suggested to study elliptical and triangular eccentricities in the initial state of relativistic heavy-ion collisions. This model describes rather well the ALICE and ATLAS data for Pb+Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02$~TeV per nucleon pair, assuming that the second, $v_2$, and third, $v_3$, harmonics of the anisotropic flow are simply linearly proportional to the eccentricities $\varepsilon_2$ and $\varepsilon_3$, respectively. We show that the eccentricity $\varepsilon_3$ has a pure fluctuation origin and is substantially dependent on the size of the overlap area only, while the eccentricity $\varepsilon_2$ is mainly related to the average collision geometry. Elliptic flow, therefore, is weakly dependent on the event-by-event fluctuations everywhere except of the very central collisions 0--2%, whereas triangular flow is mostly determined by the fluctuations. The scaling dependence of the magnitude of the flow harmonics on atomic number, $v_n \propto A^{-1/3}$, is predicted for this centrality interval., Comment: Further development and extension of ideas discussed in arXiv:2007.04850. An analytical formula that accurately accounts for the Lorentz contraction of the excluded volume of two relativistic hadrons with hard-core repulsion is worked out. Using the obtained expression we heuristically derive the equation of state of Boltzmann particles with relativistic excluded volumes in terms of system pressure and its surface and curvature tension coefficients. The behavior of effective excluded volumes of lightest baryons and mesons is studied at very high temperatures (particle number densities) and for very large values of degeneracy factors. Several parameterizations of the obtained equation of state demonstrate a universal asymptotics of the effective excluded volume at high particle number densities. It is peculiar, that the found maximal packing fraction $\eta \simeq 0.75$ of Lorentz contracted particles is very close to the dense packing limit of classical hard spheres of same radius $\eta_{exc} \approx 0.74$. Total entropy generated by the Unruh effect is calculated within the framework of information theory. In contrast to previous studies, here the calculations are done for the finite time of existence of the non-inertial reference frame. In this case only the finite number of particles is produced. Dependence on mass of the emitted particles is taken into account. Analytic expression for the entropy of radiated boson and fermion spectra is derived. We study also its asymptotics corresponding to limiting cases of low and high acceleration. The obtained results can be further generalized to other intrinsic degrees of freedom of the emitted particles, such as spin and electric charge., Comment: REVTEX, 8 pages, 5 figures

Data from the Large Hadron Collider on elliptic flow correlations at low and high $p_T$ from Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02$~TeV are analyzed and interpreted in the framework of the HYDJET++ model. We present a summary of the recent results obtained with the novel hadron resonance gas model with the multicomponent hard-core repulsion which is extended to describe the mixtures of hadrons and light (anti-, hyper-)nuclei. A very accurate description is obtained for the hadronic and the light nuclei data measured by STAR at the collision energy $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =200$ GeV and by ALICE at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =2.76$ TeV. The most striking result discussed here is that for the most probable chemical freeze-out scenario for the STAR energy the found parameters allow us to reproduce the values of the experimental ratios $S_3$ and $\overline{S}_3$ without fitting., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures

The recently developed hadron resonance gas model with multicomponent hard-core repulsion is used to address and resolve the long standing problem to describe the light nuclear cluster multiplicities including the hyper-triton measured by the STAR Collaboration, known as the hyper-triton chemical freeze-out puzzle. An unprecedentedly accurate description is obtained for the hadronic and other light nuclear cluster data measured by STAR at the collision energy $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =200$ GeV and by ALICE at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =2.76$ TeV. This success is achieved by applying the new strategy of analyzing the light nuclear cluster data and by using the value for the hard-core radius of the (anti-)$\Lambda$ hyperons found in earlier work. One of the most striking results of the present work is that for the most probable scenario of chemical freeze-out for the STAR energy the obtained parameters allow to simultaneously reproduce the values of the experimental ratios $S_3$ and $\bar{S}_3$ which were not included in the fit., Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures and 4 tables

Here we develop a new strategy to analyze the chemical freeze-out of light (anti)nuclei produced in high energy collisions of heavy atomic nuclei within an advanced version of the hadron resonance gas model. It is based on two different, but complementary approaches to model the hard-core repulsion between the light nuclei and hadrons. The first approach is based on an approximate treatment of the equivalent hard-core radius of a roomy nuclear cluster and pions, while the second approach is rigorously derived here using a self-consistent treatment of classical excluded volumes of light (anti)nuclei and hadrons. By construction, in a hadronic medium dominated by pions, both approaches should give the same results. Employing this strategy to the analysis of hadronic and light (anti)nuclei multiplicities measured by ALICE at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =2.76$ TeV and by STAR at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =200$ GeV, we got rid of the existing ambiguity in the description of light (anti)nuclei data and determined the chemical freeze-out parameters of nuclei with high accuracy and confidence. At ALICE energy the nuclei are frozen prior to the hadrons at the temperature $T = 175.1^{+2.3}_{-3.9}$ MeV, while at STAR energy there is a single freeze-out of hadrons and nuclei at the temperature $T = 167.2 \pm 3.9$ MeV. We argue that the found chemical freeze-out volumes of nuclei can be considered as the volumes of quark-gluon bags that produce the nuclei at the moment of hadronization., Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures, 3 tables

Convolutional Neural Nets, which is a powerful method of Deep Learning, is applied to classify equation of state of heavy-ion collision event generated within the UrQMD model. Event-by-event transverse momentum and azimuthal angle distributions of protons are used to train a classifier. An overall accuracy of classification of 98\% is reached for Au+Au events at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 11$ GeV. Performance of classifiers, trained on events at different colliding energies, is investigated. Obtained results indicate extensive possibilities of application of Deep Learning methods to other problems in physics of heavy-ion collisions., Comment: matches published version

Here we present new results obtained for the equation of state with induced surface and curvature tensions. From the analysis of light (anti)nuclei multiplicities that were measured recently by the ALICE collaboration in Pb+Pb collisions at the center-of-mass collision energy $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =2.76$ TeV there arose a highly non-trivial question about the excluded volume of composite particles. Surprisingly, the hadron resonance gas model (HRGM) is able to perfectly describe the light (anti)nuclei multiplicities under various assumptions. Thus, one can consider the (anti)nuclei with a vanishing hard-core radius (as the point-like particles) or with the hard-core radius of proton, but the fit quality is the same for these assumptions. It is clear, however, that such assumptions are unphysical. Hence we obtain a formula for the classical excluded volume of loosely bound light nuclei consisting of A baryons. To implement a new formula into the HRGM we have to modify the induced surface tension concept to treat the hadrons and (anti)nuclei on the same footing. We perform a simultaneous analysis of hadronic and (anti)nuclei multiplicities measured by the ALICE collaboration. The HRGM with the induced surface tension allows us to verify different assumptions on the values of hard-core radii and different scenarios of chemical freeze-out of light (anti)nuclei. It is shown that the unprecedentedly high quality of fit $\chi^2_{tot}/dof \simeq 0.769$ is achieved, if the chemical freeze-out temperature of hadrons is about $T_h=150$ MeV, while the one for all (anti)nuclei is $T_A=174-175.2$ MeV., Comment: 15 pages, 2 figures

Equilibration of highly excited baryon-rich matter is studied within the microscopic model calculations in A+A collisions at energies of BES, FAIR and NICA. It is shown that the system evolution from the very beginning of the collision can be approximated by relativistic hydrodynamics, although the hot and dense nuclear matter is not in local equilibrium yet. During the evolution of the fireball the extracted values of energy density, net baryon and net strangeness densities are used as an input to Statistical Model (SM) in order to calculate temperature $T$, chemical potentials $\mu_B$ and $\mu_S$, and entropy density $s$ of the system. Also, they are used as an input for the box with periodic boundary conditions to investigate the momentum correlators in the infinite nuclear matter. Shear viscosity $\eta$ is calculated according to the Green-Kubo formalism. At all energies, shear viscosity to entropy density ratio shows minimum at time corresponding to maximum baryon density. Time evolution of shear viscosity $\eta$, entropy density $s$, and their ratio $\eta / s$ in the central area of central gold-gold collisions at NICA energy range is studied within the UrQMD transport model. The extracted values of energy density, net baryon density and net strangeness density are used as input to (i) statistical model of ideal hadron gas to define temperature, baryo-chemical potential and strangeness chemical potential, and to (ii) UrQMD box with periodic boundary conditions to study the relaxation process of highly excited matter. During the relaxation stage, the shear viscosity is determined in the framework of Green-Kubo approach. The procedure is performed for each of 20 time slices, corresponding to conditions in the central area of the fireball at times from 1~fm/$c$ to 20~fm/$c$. For all tested energies the ratio $\eta / s$ reaches minimum, $\left( \eta/s \right)_{min} \approx 0.3$ at $t \approx 5$~fm/$c$. Then it increases up to the late stages of the system evolution. This rise is accompanied by the drop of both, temperature and strangeness chemical potential, and increase of baryo-chemical potential., Comment: LATEX, 9 pages, 10 figures

Thermal vorticity in non-central Au+Au collisions at energies $7.7 \leq \sqrt{s} \leq 62.4$ GeV is calculated within the UrQMD transport model. Tracing the $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ hyperons back to their last interaction point we were able to obtain the temperature and the chemical potentials at the time of emission by fitting the extracted bulk characteristics of hot and dense medium to statistical model of ideal hadron gas. Then the polarization of both hyperons was calculated. The polarization of $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ increases with decreasing energy of nuclear collisions. The stronger polarization of $\bar{\Lambda}$ is explained by the different space-time distributions of $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ and by different freeze-out conditions of both hyperons., Comment: Corresponds to pubslished version

Mathematically rigorous derivation of the hadron matter equation of state within the induced surface and curvature tensions approach is worked out. Such an equation of state allows one to go beyond the Van der Waals approximation for the interaction potential of hard spheres. The compressibility of a single- and two-component hadron mixtures are found for two- and three-dimensional cases. The obtained results are compared to the well known one- and two-component equations of state of hard spheres and hard discs. The values of the model parameters which successfully reproduce the above-mentioned equations of state on different intervals of packing fractions are determined from fitting their compressibility factors. It is argued that after some modification the developed approach can be also used to describe the mixtures of gases of convex hard particles of different sizes and shapes., Comment: 13 pages, 9 figures

The chemical freeze-out irregularities found with the most advanced hadron resonance gas model and possible signals of two QCD phase transitions are discussed. We found that the center-of-mass collision energy range of tricritical endpoint of QCD phase diagram is [9; 9.2] GeV which is consistent both with QCD inspired exactly solvable model and with experimental findings., Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures

We study multiplicity correlations of hadrons in forward and backward hemispheres in $pp$ inelastic interactions at energies 200GeV $\leq \sqrt{s} \leq$ 13TeV within the microscopic quark-gluon string model. The model correctly describes (i) the almost linear dependence of average multiplicity in one hemisphere on the particle multiplicity in other hemisphere in the center-of-mass frame; (ii) the increase of the slope parameter $b_{corr}$ with rising collision energy; (iii) the quick falloff of the correlation strength with increase of the midrapidity gap; (iv) saturation of the forward-backward correlations at very high multiplicities. Investigation of the sub-processes on partonic level reveals that these features can be attributed to short-range partonic correlations within a single string and superposition of several sub-processes containing different numbers of soft and hard Pomerons with different mean multiplicities. If the number of Pomerons in the event is fixed, no forward-backward correlations are observed. Predictions are made for the top LHC energy $\sqrt{s} = 13$TeV.

In this work we discuss a novel approach to model the hadronic and nuclear matter equations of state using the induced surface tension concept. Since the obtained equations of state, classical and quantum, are among the most successful ones in describing the properties of low density phases of strongly interacting matter, they set strong restrictions on the possible value of the hard-core radius of nucleons. Therefore, we perform a detailed analysis of its value which follows from hadronic and nuclear matter properties and find the most trustworthy range of its values: the hard-core radius of nucleons is 0.30--0.36 fm. A comparison with the phenomenology of neutron stars implies that the hard-core radius of nucleons has to be temperature and density dependent., Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures, references added, typos corrected

In this contributions we discuss the novel version of hadron resonance gas model which is based on the induced surface tension concept. Also we present new arguments in favor of a hypothesis that the chiral symmetry restoration transition in central nuclear collisions may occur at the center of mass energies 4.3-4.9 GeV and that the deconfinement phase transition may occur at the center of mass energies 8.8-9.2 GeV. These arguments are based on the unique thermostatic properties of the mixed phase and the ones of an exponential mass spectrum of hadrons., Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures

We present a summary of possible signals of the chiral symmetry restoration and deconfinement phase transitions which may be, respectively, probed at the center of mass collision energies at 4.3-4.9 GeV and above 8.7-9.2 GeV. It is argued that these signals may evidence for an existence of the tricritical endpoint of QCD phase diagram at the collision energy around 8.7-9.2 GeV. The equation of state of hadronic matter with the restored chiral symmetry is discussed and the number of bosonic and fermionic degrees of freedom is found., Comment: 5 pages

Properties of equilibrated nucleon system are studied within the Ultra-relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) transport model. The UrQMD calculations are done within a finite box with periodic boundary conditions. The system achieves thermal equilibrium due to nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering. For the UrQMD equilibrium state, nucleon energy spectra, equation of state, particle number fluctuations, and shear viscosity $\eta$ are calculated. We propose a novel family of equations of state for symmetric nuclear matter based on the induced surface tension concept for the hard-core repulsion. It is shown that having only four adjustable parameters the suggested equations of state can, simultaneously, reproduce not only the main properties of the nuclear matter ground state, but the proton flow constraint up its maximal particle number densities. Varying the model parameters we carefully examine the range of values of incompressibility constant of normal nuclear matter and its critical temperature which are consistent with the proton flow constraint. This analysis allows us to show that the physically most justified value of nuclear matter critical temperature is 15.5-18 MeV, the incompressibility constant is 270-315 MeV and the hard-core radius of nucleons is less than 0.4 fm., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures

We study the influence of geometric and dynamical anisotropies on the development of flow harmonics and, simultaneously, on the second- and third-order oscillations of femtoscopy radii. The analysis is done within the Monte Carlo event generator HYDJET++, which was extended to dynamical triangular deformations. It is shown that the merely geometric anisotropy provides the results which anticorrelate with the experimental observations of either $v_2$ (or $v_3$) or second-order (or third-order) oscillations of the femtoscopy radii. Decays of resonances significantly increase the emitting areas but do not change the phases of the radii oscillations. In contrast to the spatial deformations, the dynamical anisotropy alone provides the correct qualitative description of the flow and the femtoscopy observables simultaneously. We study the formation of the directed flow of hadrons in nuclear collisions at energies between AGS and SPS in Monte Carlo cascade model. The slope of the proton flow at midrapidity tends to zero (softening) with increasing impact parameter of the collision. For very peripheral topologies this slope becomes negative (antiflow). The effect is caused by rescattering of hadrons in remnants of the colliding nuclei. Since the softening of the proton flow can be misinterpreted as indication of the presence of quark-gluon plasma, we propose several measurements at NICA facility which can help one to distinguish between the cases with and without the plasma formation., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, Contribution to the NICA White Paper (EPJA, topical issue)

The Monte Carlo event generator HYDJET++ is one of the few generators, designed for the calculations of heavy-ion collisions at ultrarelativistic energies, which combine treatment of soft hydro-like processes with the description of jets traversing the hot and dense partonic medium. The model is employed to study the azimuthal anisotropy phenomena, dihadron angular correlations and event-by-event (EbyE) fluctuations of the anisotropic flow in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 2.76$ TeV. The interplay of soft and hard processes describes the violation of the mass hierarchy of meson and baryon elliptic and triangular flows at p_T > 2 GeV/c, the fall-off of the flow harmonics at intermediate transverse momenta, and the worsening of the number-of-constituent-quark (NCQ) scaling of elliptic/triangular flow at LHC compared to RHIC energies. The cross-talk of v_2 and v_3 leads to emergence of higher order harmonics in the model and to appearance of the ridge structure in dihadron angular correlations in a broad pseudorapidity range. HYDJET++ possesses also the dynamical EbyE fluctuations of the anisotropic flow. Triangular flow $v_3$ of identified and inclusive particles in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 2.76$ TeV is studied as a function of centrality and transverse momentum within the \textsc{hydjet++} model. The model enables one to investigate the influence of both hard processes and final-state interactions on the harmonics of particle anisotropic flow. Decays of resonances are found to increase the magnitude of the $v_3(p_{\rm T})$ distributions at $p_{\rm T} \geq 2$ GeV/$c$ and shift their maxima to higher transverse momenta. The $p_{\rm T}$-integrated triangular flow, however, becomes slightly weakened for all centralities studied. The resonance decays also modify the spectra towards the number-of-constituent-quark scaling fulfillment for the triangular flow, whereas jets are the main source of the scaling violation at the energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Comparison with the corresponding spectra of elliptic flow reveals that resonance decays and jets act in a similar manner on both $v_3(p_{\rm T})$ and $v_2(p_{\rm T})$ behavior. Obtained results are also confronted with the experimental data on differential triangular flow of identified hadrons, ratio $v_3^{1/3}(p_{\rm T}) / v_2^{1/2}(p_{\rm T})$ and $p_{\rm T}$-integrated triangular flow of charged hadrons., Comment: revised version

The LHC data on event-by-event harmonic flow coefficients measured in PbPb collisions at center-of-mass energy 2.76 TeV per nucleon pair are analyzed and interpreted within the HYDJET++ model. To compare the model results with the experimental data the unfolding procedure is employed. The essentially dynamical origin of the flow fluctuations in hydro-inspired freeze-out approach has been established. The hybrid model HYDJET++, which combines soft and hard components, is employed for the analysis of dihadron angular correlations measured in PbPb collisions at center-of-mass energy sqrt(s_NN) = 2.76 TeV. The model allows for study both individual contributions and mutual influence of lower flow harmonics, v_2 and v_3, on higher harmonics and dihadron angular correlations. It is shown that the typical structure called ridge in dihadron angular correlations in a broad pseudorapidity range could appear just as interplay of v_2 and v_3. Central, semi-central and semi-peripheral collisions were investigated. The recent experimental CMS and E-by-E ATLAS data on the elliptic anisotropy of particles in \PbPb collisions are used to extract parton medium cross-section and the quark-gluon plasma viscosity-to-entropy ratio within the incomplete equilibration medium model. Our method assumes extrapolation of the measured pseudorapidity spectrum of charged particles to low-$p_T$ range. Then the rapidity distribution of both charged and neutral hadrons is restored. The extracted value of the parton-medium cross section is found to be $\ds \sigma = (3.1 \pm 0.2) {\rm mb}$. It yields $\eta/s = 0.17 \pm 0.02$ for the ratio of shear viscosity to entropy density in QGP phase. The LHC data on azimuthal anisotropy harmonics from PbPb collisions at center-of-mass energy 2.76 TeV per nucleon pair are analyzed and interpreted in the framework of the HYDJET++ model. The cross-talk of elliptic $v_2$ and triangular $v_3$ flow in the model generates both even and odd harmonics of higher order. Partial contributions of elliptic v_2 and triangular v_3 flows to the hexagonal v_6 flow are studied within the HYDJET++ model for Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt{s}=2.76 TeV. Scaling of the ratio v_6^{1/6}{Psi_2} / v_2^{1/2}{Psi_2} in the elliptic flow plane, Psi_2, is predicted in the range 1 < p_T < 4 GeV/c for semicentral and semiperipheral collisions. Jets increase this ratio by about 10% and also cause its rise at p_T > 3.5 GeV/c. The part of v_6 coming from v_2 is instantly increasing as the reaction becomes more peripheral, whereas the contribution of v_3 to v_6 drops. This behavior explains the experimentally observed increase of correlations between second and sixth harmonics and decrease of correlations between third and sixth harmonics with rising impact parameter $b$. The Monte Carlo HYDJET++ model, that combines parametrized hydrodynamics with jets, is employed to study formation of second v_2 and fourth v_4 components of the anisotropic flow in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions at energies of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), sqrt{s}=200 AGeV and sqrt{s}=2.76 ATeV, respectively. It is shown that the quenched jets contribute to the soft part of the v_2(p_T) and v_4(p_T) spectra. The jets increase the ratio v_4/v_2^2 thus leading to deviations of the ratio from the value of 0.5 predicted by the ideal hydrodynamics. Together with the event-by-event fluctuations, the influence of jets can explain quantitatively the ratio v_4/v_2^2 at p_T < 2 GeV/c for both energies and qualitatively the rise of its high-p_T tail at LHC. Jets are also responsible for violation of the number-of-constituent-quark (NCQ) scaling at LHC despite the fact that the scaling is fulfilled for the hydro-part of particle spectra., Comment: minor corrections, as published in Phys. The Quark Gluon String Model (QGSM) reproduces well the global characteristics of the $pp$ collisions at RHIC and LHC, e.g., the pseudorapidity and transverse momenta distributions at different centralities. The main goal of this work is to employ the Monte Carlo QGSM for description of femtoscopic characteristics in $pp$ collisions at RHIC and LHC. The study is concentrated on the low multiplicity and multiplicity averaged events, where no collective effects are expected. The different procedures for fitting the one-dimensional correlation functions of pions are studied and compared with the space-time distributions extracted directly from the model. Particularly, it is shown that the double Gaussian fit reveals the contributions coming separately from resonances and from directly produced particles. Multiplicity, rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of hadrons produced both in inelastic and nondiffractive $pp$ collisions at energies from $\sqrt{s} = 200$\,GeV to 14\,TeV are studied within the Monte Carlo quark-gluon string model (QGSM). Good agreement with the available experimental data up to $\sqrt{s} = 13$\,TeV is obtained, and predictions are made for the collisions at top LHC energy $\sqrt{s} = 14$\,TeV. The model indicates that Feynman scaling and extended longitudinal scaling remain valid in the fragmentation regions, whereas strong violation of Feynman scaling is observed at midrapidity. The Koba-Nielsen-Olesen (KNO) scaling in multiplicity distributions is violated at LHC also. The origin of both maintenance and violation of the scaling trends is traced to short range correlations of particles in the strings and interplay between the multistring processes at ultrarelativistic energies.

Formation and evolution of the elliptic flow pattern in Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt{s}=5.5 ATeV and in Au+Au collisions at sqrt{s}=200 AGeV are analyzed for different hadron species within the framework of HYDJET++ Monte-Carlo model. The model contains both hydrodynamic state and jets, thus allowing for a study of the interplay between the soft and hard processes. It is found that jets are terminating the rise of the elliptic flow with increasing transverse momentum. Since jets are more influential at LHC compared to RHIC, the elliptic flow at LHC should be weaker than that at RHIC. The influence of resonance decays on particle elliptic flow is investigated also. Experiments with gold-gold collisions at RHIC have revealed (i) stronger suppression of charmonium production at forward rapidity than at midrapidity and (ii) the similarity between the suppression degrees at RHIC and SPS energies. To describe these findings we employ the model that includes nuclear shadowing effects, calculated within the Glauber-Gribov theory, rapidity-dependent absorptive mechanism, caused by energy-momentum conservation, and dissociation and recombination of the charmonium due to interaction with co-moving matter. The free parameters of the model are tuned and fixed by comparison with experimental data at lower energies. A good agreement with the RHIC results concerning the rapidity and centrality distributions is obtained for both heavy Au+Au and light Cu+Cu colliding system. For pA and A+A collisions at LHC the model predicts stronger suppression of the charmonium and bottomonium yields in stark contrast to thermal model predictions., Comment: SQM2008 proceedings, 6 pages

Two microscopic models, UrQMD and QGSM, are used to extract the effective equation of state (EOS) of locally equilibrated nuclear matter produced in heavy-ion collisions at energies from 11.6 AGeV to 160 AGeV. Analysis is performed for the fixed central cubic cell of volume V = 125 fm**3 and for the expanding cell that followed the growth of the central area with uniformly distributed energy. For all reactions the state of local equilibrium is nearly approached in both models after a certain relaxation period. The EOS has a simple linear dependence P/e = c_s**2 with 0.12 < c_s**2 < 0.145. Heavy resonances are shown to be responsible for deviations of the c_s**2(T) and c_s**2(mu_B) from linear behavior. In the T-mu_B and T-mu_S planes the EOS has also almost linear dependence and demonstrates kinks related not to the deconfinement phase transition but to inelastic freeze-out in the system., Comment: SQM2008 proceedings, 6 pages

Two microscopic models, UrQMD and QGSM, were employed to study the formation of locally equilibrated hot and dense nuclear matter in heavy-ion collisions at energies from 11.6 AGeV to 160 AGeV. To decide whether or not the equilibrium was reached, results of the microscopic calculations were compared to that of the statistical thermal model. Both dynamical models indicate that the state of kinetic, thermal and chemical equilibrium is nearly approached at any bombarding energy after a certain relaxation period. The higher the energy, the shorter the relaxation time. Equation of state has a simple linear dependence P = a(sqrt{s})*e, where a = c_s**2 is the sound velocity squared. It varies from 0.12 \pm 0.01 at E_{lab} = 11.6 AGeV to 0.145 \pm 0.005 at E_{lab} = 160 AGeV. Change of the slope in a(sqrt{s}) behavior occurs at E_{lab} = 40 AGeV and can be assigned to the transition from baryon-rich to meson-dominated matter. The phase diagrams in the T - mu_B plane show the presence of kinks along the lines of constant entropy per baryon. These kinks are linked to the inelastic (i.e. chemical) freeze-out in the system., Comment: 14 pages, REVTEX

Charmonium production at heavy-ion colliders is considered within the comovers interaction model. The formalism is extended by including possible secondary J/psi production through recombination and an estimate of recombination effects is made with no free parameters involved. The comovers interaction model also includes a comprehensive treatment of initial-state nuclear effects, which are discussed in the context of such high energies. With these tools, the model properly describes the centrality and the rapidity dependence of experimental data at RHIC energy, $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV, for both Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions. The approach to problem of nuclear shadowing based on Gribov Reggeon calculus is presented. Here the total cross section of $h A$ interaction is found in a parameter-free description, employing the new data on the gluon density of the Pomeron, measured with high precision at HERA, as input. The model is then applied for calculation of $J/\psi$ production in $d Au$ collisions at top RHIC energy. The production and freeze-out conditions of strange particles, produced in Au+Au collisions at RHIC energies, are studied within microscopic transport model. The system of final particles can be represented as a core, containing the particles which are still interacting with each other, and a halo, in which the particles have already decoupled from the system. In microscopic calculations hadrons are continuously emitted from the whole reaction volume. At RHIC, however, significant fractions of both mesons and baryons are emitted from the surface region within the first two fm/c. Different species decouple at different times. Space-time picture of the anisotropic flow evolution in Au+Au collisions at BNL RHIC is studied for strange hadrons within the microscopic quark-gluon string model. The directed flow of both mesons and hyperons demonstrates wiggle structure with the universal antiflow slope at |y| < 2 for minimum bias events. This effect increases as the reaction becomes more peripheral. The development of both components of the anisotropic flow is closely related to particle freeze-out. Hadrons are emitted continuously, and different hadronic species are decoupled from the system at different times. These hadrons contribute differently to the formation and evolution of the elliptic flow, which can be decomposed onto three components: (i) flow created by hadrons emitted from the surface at the onset of the collision; (ii) flow produced by jets; (iii) hydrodynamic flow. Due to these features, the general trend in elliptic flow formation is that the earlier mesons are frozen, the weaker their elliptic flow. Evolution of the elliptic flow of hadrons in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC energies is studied within the microscopic quark-gluon string model. The elliptic flow is shown to have a multi-component structure caused by (i) rescattering and (ii) absorption processes in spatially asymmetric medium. Together with different freeze-out dynamics of mesons and baryons, these processes lead to the following trend in the flow formation: the later the mesons are frozen, the weaker their elliptic flow, whereas baryon fraction develops stronger elliptic flow during the late stages of the fireball evolution.
