Abstract

International audience; Two new excited bands built on the πh11/2 configuration have been identified in Nd135 in addition to the known πh11/2 band. The energy spectra of the excited bands and the available electromagnetic transition probabilities are in good agreement with theoretical results obtained using quasiparticle-plus-triaxial-rotor model calculations. The properties of the bands identify them as tilted precession bands instead of wobbling bands. Our results give a new insight into the interpretation of the low-lying bands in odd-A mass nuclei, and can stimulate future studies to address the nuclear triaxiality.

Abstract

International audience; The high-spin states in Ba130 have been investigated using the Sn122(C13,5n) reaction and the GALILEO array coupled to the EUCLIDES and Neutron Wall ancillary detectors. The level scheme has been extended to an excitation energy of ≈12 MeV and spin 28. Two sets of pseudospin partner bands have been identified built on πh11/2(g7/2,d5/2) and νh11/2(s1/2,d3/2) configurations. The assignments are supported by calculations using the projected shell model and the particle rotor model.

Abstract

International audience; Experimental signatures of moderately enhanced octupole correlations at high spin in Nd136 are indicated for the first time. The extracted dipole moments of two negative-parity bands are only two times smaller than those of the lanthanide nuclei with N≈90 which present well-established octupole correlations. Calculations using the cranked quasiparticle random phase approximation and a model of quadrupole-octupole rotations with octupole vibrations reveal the structure of the bands and the enhanced octupole correlations at high spin in Nd136.

Abstract

International audience; Background: The γ softness of Nd136 makes it possible to study the shape changes induced by two-proton or two-neutron excitation. Purpose: We measure the lifetimes of two-quasiparticle states of the bands based on the 10+ states at 3296 and 3279 keV to investigate the shape change induced by the alignment of two protons or two neutrons in the h11/2 orbital. Methods: The recoil-distance Doppler shift method was used for the study of Nd136 studies, which was formed by the fusion reaction Sn120(Ne20,4n)Nd136, at Ebeam=85 MeV. Calculations were performed within the microscopic-macroscopic approach, based on the deformed Woods-Saxon single-particle potential and the Yukawa-plus-exponential macroscopic energy. Results: The lifetime of the 10+ state at 3279 keV of Nd136 was measured to be T1/210+=1.63(9) ns. The lifetimes of the 2+ state at 374 keV and of the 12+ state at 3686 keV of the ground band were also measured to be T1/22+=26.5(14) ps and T1/212+=22.5(14) ps. Conclusions: The measured lifetime of 10+ the state at 3279 keV together with other observables confirm the structure change in Nd136. A rather small reduced hindrance of the electromagnetic decay of the 10+ state at 3279 keV would be consistent with its K-mixed character.

Abstract

International audience; The level structure of Nd136 has been investigated using the Mo100(Ar40,4n) reaction and the JUROGAM II+RITU+GREAT setup. The level scheme has been extended significantly. Many new bands have been identified both at low and high spin, among which are five nearly degenerate bands interpreted as chiral partners. Excitation energies, spins, and parities of the previously known bands are revised and firmly established, and some previously known bands have been revised. Configurations are assigned to the observed bands based on cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations. The band structure of Nd136 is now clarified and the various types of single-particle and collective excitations are well understood.

Abstract

Low-lying excited states of 104Pd were investigated by means of Coulomb excitation using the 32S beam. Gamma-ray spectra resulting from the deexcitation of these levels were measured with the EAGLE gamma-ray spectrometer at the Heavy Ion Laboratory, University ofWarsaw. The first three excited states above the ground state up to 6+ level were populated alongwith the low-lying non-yrast states. Excitation of the 3- state at 2194 keV energy was also observed. Abstract

The "quadrupole plus pairing" collective model is constructed for the microscopic description of low-lying collective states of even-even transitional nuclei. Inclusion of the model to the core-quasiparticle coupling model in order to describe odd nuclei is realized. An approximation scheme suitable for investigation of the quadrupole excitations is demonstrated. Exemplary results of microscopic calculations for the Ru isotopes are shown. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
