Abstract

The structure of the $^{24}$F nucleus has been studied at GANIL using the $\beta$ decay of $^{24}$O and the in-beam $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy from the fragmentation of projectile nuclei. Combining these complementary experimental techniques, the level scheme of $^{24}$F has been constructed up to 3.6 Mev by means of particle-$\gamma$ and particle-$\gamma\gamma$ coincidence relations. Experimental results are compared to shell-model calculations using the standard USDA and USDB interactions as well as ab-initio valence-space Hamiltonians calculated from the in-medium similarity renormalization group based on chiral two- and three-nucleon forces. Both methods reproduce the measured level spacings well, and this close agreement allows unidentified spins and parities to be consistently assigned., Comment: 5 figures, 2 tables

Abstract

The structure of the nucleus 25F was investigated through in-beam {\gamma}-ray spectroscopy of the fragmentation of 26Ne and 27,28Na ion beams. Based on the particle-{\gamma} and particle-{\gamma}{\gamma} coincidence data, a level scheme was constructed and compared with shell model and coupled-cluster calculations. Some of the observed states were interpreted as quasi single-particle states built on top of the closed-shell nucleus 24O, while the others were described as states arising from coupling of a single proton to the 2+ core excitation of 24O., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures and 1 table

Abstract

The 124-131Te nuclei have been produced as fission fragments in two fusion reactions induced by heavy-ions (12C + 238U at 90 MeV bombarding energy and 18O + 208Pb at 85 MeV) and studied with the Euroball array. Their high-spin level schemes have been extended to higher excitation energy from the triple gamma-ray coincidence data. The gamma-gamma angular correlations have been analyzed in order to assign spin and parity values to many observed states. Moreover the half-lives of isomeric states have been measured from the delayed coincidences between the fission-fragment detector SAPhIR and Euroball, as well as from the timing information of the Ge detectors. The behaviors of the yrast structures identified in the present work are first discussed in comparison with the general features known in the mass region, particularly the breakings of neutron pairs occupying the nuh11/2 orbit identified in the neighboring Sn nuclei. The experimental level schemes are then compared to shell-model calculations performed in this work. Abstract

The high-spin states of the two neutron-rich nuclei, 88Kr and 89R have been studied from the 18O + 208Pb fusion-fission reaction. Their level schemes were built from triple gamma-ray coincidence data and gamma-gamma angular correlations were analyzed in order to assign spin and parity values to most of the observed states. The two levels schemes evolve from collective structures to single-particle excitations as a function of the excitation energy. Abstract

Odd-odd 136Cs nuclei have been produced in the 18O + 208Pb and 12C + 238U fusion-fission reactions and their gamma rays studied with the Euroball array. The high-spin level scheme has been built up to ~ 4.7 MeV excitation energy and spin I ~ 16 hbar from the triple gamma-ray coincidence data. The configurations of the three structures observed above ~ 2 MeV excitation energy are first discussed by analogy with the proton excitations identified in the semi-magic 137Cs nucleus, which involve the three high-j orbits lying above the Z=50 gap, pi g_{7/2}, pi d_{5/2} and pi h_{11/2}. Abstract

Five N=82 isotones have been produced in two fusion-fission reactions and their gamma-rays studied with the Euroball array. The high-spin states of 139La have been identified for the first time, while the high-spin yrast and near-to-yrast structures of the four others have been greatly extended. From angular correlation analysis,spin values have been assigned to some states of 136Xe and 137Cs. Several cascades involving gamma-rays of 139La have been found to be delayed, they deexcite an isomeric state with T1/2= 315(35) ns located at 1800-keV excitation energy. The excited states of these five N=82 isotones are expected to be due to various proton excitations involving the three high-j subshells located above the Z=50 shell closure. This is confirmed by the results of shell-model calculations performed in this work. In addition, high-spin states corresponding to the excitation of the neutron core have been unambiguously identified in 136Xe, 137Cs, and 138Ba., Comment: 18 pages, 18 figures, 10 tables, accepted for publication in Phys. Abstract

The 119-126Sn nuclei have been produced as fission fragments in two reactions induced by heavy ions: 12C+238U at 90 MeV bombarding energy, 18O+208Pb at 85 MeV. Their level schemes have been built from gamma rays detected using the Euroball array. High-spin states located above the long-lived isomeric states of the even- and odd-A 120-126Sn nuclei have been identified. Moreover isomeric states lying around 4.5 MeV have been established in 120,122,124,126Sn from the delayed coincidences between the fission fragment detector SAPhIR and the Euroball array. The states located above 3-MeV excitation energy are ascribed to several broken pairs of neutrons occupying the nu h11/2 orbit. The maximum value of angular momentum available in such a high-j shell, i.e. for mid-occupation and the breaking of the three neutron pairs, has been identified. Abstract

The structure of the $^{44}$S nucleus has been studied at GANIL through the one proton knock-out reaction from a $^{45}$Cl secondary beam at 42 A$\cdot$MeV. The $\gamma$ rays following the de-excitation of $^{44}$S were detected in flight using the 70 BaF${_2}$ detectors of the Ch\^{a}teau de Cristal array. An exhaustive $\gamma\gamma$-coincidence analysis allowed an unambiguous construction of the level scheme up to an excitation energy of 3301 keV. The existence of the spherical 2$^+_2$ state is confirmed and three new $\gamma$-ray transitions connecting the prolate deformed 2$^+_1$ level were observed. Comparison of the experimental results to shell model calculations further supports a prolate and spherical shape coexistence with a large mixing of states built on the ground state band in $^{44}$S., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in Physical Review C

Abstract

The structure of the weakly-bound $^{26}_{\;\;9}$F$_{17}$ odd-odd nucleus, produced from $^{27,28}$Na nuclei, has been investigated at GANIL by means of the in-beam $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy technique. A single $\gamma$-line is observed at 657(7) keV in $^{26}_{9}$F which has been ascribed to the decay of the excited J=$2^+$ state to the J=1$^+$ ground state. Abstract

The Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA) is a European project to develop and operate the next generation gamma-ray spectrometer. AGATA is based on the technique of gamma-ray energy tracking in electrically segmented high-purity germanium crystals. This technique requires the accurate determination of the energy, time and position of every interaction as a gamma ray deposits its energy within the detector volume. Reconstruction of the full interaction path results in a detector with very high efficiency and excellent spectral response. The realization of gamma-ray tracking and AGATA is a result of many technical advances. These include the development of encapsulated highly-segmented germanium detectors assembled in a triple cluster detector cryostat, an electronics system with fast digital sampling and a data acquisition system to process the data at a high rate. The full characterization of the crystals was measured and compared with detector-response simulations. This enabled pulse-shape analysis algorithms, to extract energy, time and position, to be employed. In addition, tracking algorithms for event reconstruction were developed. The first phase of AGATA is now complete and operational in its first physics campaign. In the future AGATA will be moved between laboratories in Europe and operated in a series of campaigns to take advantage of the different beams and facilities available to maximize its science output. Abstract

We report here the first direct lifetime measurement of the 2+1 state in 72,74Zn. The neutron-rich beam was produced by in-flight fragmentation of 76Ge at the Grand Acc\'el\'erateur National d'Ions Lourds and separated with the LISE spectrometer. The 2+1 state was excited by inelastic scattering and knock-out reaction on a CD2 target and its lifetime was measured by the recoil-distance Dopplershift method with the K\"oln plunger device combined with the EXOGAM detectors. The lifetimes of the 2+1 states in 72,74Zn were determined to be 17.9(18) and 27.0(24) ps, which correspond to reduced transition probabilities B(E2; 2+1 \rightarrow 0+) = 385(39) and 370(33) e2fm4, respectively. These values support the idea of a systematic maximum of collectivity at N = 42 for Zn, Ge and Se nuclei. In addition, the available systematics in the neighboring nuclei point towards a transition from a spherical oscillator at N = 40 to complete {\gamma}-softness at N = 42., Comment: 10 pages, 13 figures; accepted for publication in Phys. Abstract

A great deal of research work has been undertaken in the alpha-clustering study since the pioneering discovery, half a century ago, of 12C+12C molecular resonances. Our knowledge of the field of the physics of nuclear molecules has increased considerably and nuclear clustering remains one of the most fruitful domains of nuclear physics, facing some of the greatest challenges and opportunities in the years ahead. In this work, the occurence of "exotic" shapes in light N=Z alpha-like nuclei is investigated. Various approaches of superdeformed and hyperdeformed bands associated with quasimolecular resonant structures are presented. Abstract

The structure of $^{44}$S has been studied using delayed $\gamma$ and electron spectroscopy at \textsc{ganil}. The decay rates of the 0$^+_2$ isomeric state to the 2$^+_1$ and 0$^+_1$ states have been measured for the first time, leading to a reduced transition probability B(E2~:~2$^{+}_1$$\rightarrow$0$^{+}_2)$= 8.4(26)~e$^2$fm$^4$ and a monopole strength $\rho^2$(E0~:~0$^{+}_2$$\rightarrow$0$^{+}_1)$ =~8.7(7)$\times$10$^{-3}$. Comparisons to shell model calculations point towards prolate-spherical shape coexistence and a phenomenological two level mixing model is used to extract a weak mixing between the two configurations., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in Physical Review Letters

Abstract

Excited states of $^{38}_{17}$Cl$_{21}$ were populated in grazing reactions during the interaction of a beam of $^{36}_{16}$S$_{20}$ ions of energy 215 MeV with a $^{208}_{82}$Pb$_{126}$ target. The combination of the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer and the CLARA $\gamma$-ray detector array was used to identify the reaction fragments and to detect their decay via $\gamma$-ray emission. A level scheme for $^{38}$Cl is presented with tentative spin and parity assignments. Abstract

Charged particle and gamma decays in 24Mg* are investigated for excitation energies where quasimolecular resonances appear in 12C+12C collisions. Various theoretical predictions for the occurence of superdeformed and hyperdeformed bands associated with resonance structures with low spin are discussed within the measured 24Mg* excitation energy region. The inverse kinematics reaction 24Mg+12C is studied at E_lab(24Mg) = 130 MeV, an energy which enables the population of 24Mg states decaying into 12C+12C resonant break-up states. Exclusive data were collected with the Binary Reaction Spectrometer in coincidence with EUROBALL IV installed at the VIVITRON Tandem facility at Strasbourg. Specific structures with large deformation were selectively populated in binary reactions and their associated gamma decays studied. Coincident events associated with inelastic and alpha-transfer channels have been selected by choosing the excitation energy or the entry point via the two-body Q-values. The analysis of the binary reaction channels is presented with a particular emphasis on 24Mg-gamma, 20Ne-gamma and 16O-gamma coincidences. Abstract

The energies of the excited states in very neutron-rich $^{42}$Si and $^{41,43}$P have been measured using in-beam $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy from the fragmentation of secondary beams of $^{42,44}$S at 39 A.MeV. The low 2$^+$ energy of $^{42}$Si, 770(19) keV, together with the level schemes of $^{41,43}$P provide evidence for the disappearance of the Z=14 and N=28 spherical shell closures, which is ascribed mainly to the action of proton-neutron tensor forces. An experiment using the Eurogam Phase II gamma-ray spectrometer confirms the existence of an excited superdeformed (SD) band in 190Hg and its very unusual decay into the lowest SD band over 3-4 transitions. The energies and dipole character of the transitions linking the two SD bands have been firmly established. Abstract

International audience; We have performed the Zn70(d,He3)Cu69 proton pick-up reaction in direct kinematics using a deuteron beam at 27 MeV. The outgoing He3 particles were detected at the focal-plane detection system of an Enge split-pole spectrometer. The excitation-energy spectrum was reconstructed up to 7 MeV and spectroscopic factors were obtained after analysis of the angular distributions in the finite-range distorted-wave Born approximation. The results show three new angular distributions for which the πf7/2 strength was measured and a lower limit of the centroid is established. State-of-the-art shell-model calculations are performed and predict a πf7/2 strength that lies too high in energy in comparison to our experimental results.

Abstract

The high-spin states of the two neutron-rich nuclei 88Kr52 and 89Rb52 have been studied from the 18O+208Pb fusion-fission reaction. Their level schemes were built from triple γ-ray coincidence data, and γ-γ angular correlations were analyzed in order to assign spin and parity values to most of the observed states. The two level schemes evolve from collective structures to single-particle excitations as a function of the excitation energy. Comparison with results of shell-model calculations gives the specific proton and neutron configurations which are involved to generate the angular momentum along the yrast lines.

Abstract

The heavy ion reaction 22Ne+208Pb at 128 MeV beam energy has been studied using the PRISMA-CLARA experimental setup at Legnaro National Laboratories. Aim of the experiment is the measurement of elastic, inelastic and one nucleon transfer cross sections. The data are presented in parallel with similar results for the unstable 24Ne nucleus, using existing data from the reaction 24Ne + 208Pb at 182 MeV (measured at SPIRAL with the VAMOS-EXOGAM setup). A comparison with angular distributions obtained by semiclassical and DWBA predictions for the quadrupole deformation parameter is also discussed. In particular, the DWBA analysis allowed to determine the beta2 charge deformation parameter both in 22Ne and 24Ne.

Abstract

The 12C(18O,16O)14C and 12,13C(18O,17O)13,14C reactions are studied at 84 MeV. Mass distributions and energy spectra of the ejectiles are measured, indicating the selectivity of these reactions to populate two- and one-neutron configurations in the states of the residual nucleus, respectively. The measured absolute cross-section angular distributions are analyzed by exact finite range coupled reaction channel calculations based on a parameter free double-folding optical potential. The form factors for the (18O,16O) reaction are extracted within an extreme cluster and independent particles scheme with shell-model-derived coupling strengths. The results show that the measured cross sections are accurately described for the first time without the need for any arbitrary scaling factor. The (18O,16O) reaction is thus found to be a powerful tool for quantitative spectroscopic studies of pair configurations in nuclear states.

International audience; The Coulomb excitation experiment to study electromagnetic structure of low-lying states in Ca-42 with a focus on a possible superdeformation in this nucleus was performed at the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro in Italy. Abstract

A great deal of research work has been undertaken in the alpha-clustering study since the pioneering discovery, half a century ago, of 12C+12C molecular resonances. Our knowledge of the field of the physics of nuclear molecules has increased considerably and nuclear clustering remains one of the most fruitful domains of nuclear physics, facing some of the greatest challenges and opportunities in the years ahead. In this work, the occurence of "exotic" shapes in light N=Z alpha-like nuclei is investigated. Various approaches of superdeformed and hyperdeformed bands associated with quasimolecular resonant structures are presented. Results on clustering aspects are also discussed for light neutron-rich Oxygen isotopes., Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures. Invited Talk presented by C. Abstract

We have measured the lifetime of the 2(1)(+) state in Zn-74 by the recoil distance Doppler-shift method at GANIL. It resulted to be of 27.6(43) ps and is consistent with previously measured values of transition rates from Coulomb excitation measurements.

Abstract

Yrast states up to (6+) in the neutron-rich 40S nucleus have been studied using binary grazing reactions produced by the interaction of a 215 MeV beam of 36S ions with a thin 208Pb target. The novel experimental setup that combines the large acceptance magnetic spectrometer, PRISMA, and the high-efficiency γ -ray detection array, CLARA, was used. A new γ -ray transition at an energy of 1572 keV was observed and tentatively assigned to the (6+) → (4+) transition. A comparison of experimental observations and the results of large-scale 0hω sd-pf shell-model calculations indicates that one- and two-proton excitations from the 2s1/2 to the 1d3/2 orbitals play an important role in reproducing the 40S yrast level structure and the published B(E2 ; 0+g.s.→ 2+) value. The structure of the yrast states of the even-A isotopes of sulfur is interpreted in terms of the configurations of valence protons and neutrons within the context of large-scale 0hω sd-pf shell-model calculations.

Abstract

Excited states of 38Cl were populated in binary grazing reactions during the interaction of a beam of 36S ions of energy 215 MeV with a 208Pb target. The combination of the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer and the CLARA γ-ray detector array was used to identify the reaction fragments and to detect their decay via γ-ray emission. A level scheme for 38Cl is presented and discussed within the context of the systematics of neighboring nuclei and is compared with the results of state-of-the-art shell-model calculations.

Abstract

The structure of N19-22 nuclei was investigated by means of in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopic technique using fragmentation reactions of both stable and radioactive beams. Based on particle-gamma and particle-gamma gamma coincidence data, level schemes are constructed for the neutron-rich nitrogen nuclei. The experimental results are compared with shell model calculations. The strength of the N=14 and Z=8 shell closures and the weakening of the shell model interaction WBT are discussed.

Abstract

Expérience GANIL; International audience; An experiment was performed to study excited states in neutron-deficient nuclei around Ca. A one-neutron knockout reaction was used to produce $^{36}$Ca ions from a $^{37}$Ca secondary beam, and in-beam $\gamma$-rays were measured. The $2^+$ energy in $^{36}$Ca is compared to the mirror nucleus $^{36}$S to deduce information on the isospin dependence of the nuclear force near the proton drip line. The energy of the first excited $2^+$ state in $^{36}$Ca and the cross section for the 1-neutron knock-out reaction from $^{37}$Ca at $\sim$ 45 · AMeV were obtained. Furthermore, for two other $T_z$ = −2 nuclei, $^{28}$S and $^{32}$Ar, the de-excitation of the first $2^+$ state has been observed.

Abstract

The excited states of the neutron-rich nucleus $_{15}^{37}P_{22}$ have been populated in grazing reactions, using a beam of $^{36}$S ions (at 215 MeV) delivered onto a thin $^{208}$Pb target. Emitted $\gamma$ rays from excited projectile-like nuclei were detected using the CLARA array of 25 escape-suppressed Ge clover detectors in coincidence with reaction products detected and identified with the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer. A level scheme is presented for $^{37}$P together with proposed spin assignments. The level structure of $^{37}$P is discussed within the context of shell-model calculations by using an improved sdpf effective interaction.

Abstract

The preferred production mechanisms used to investigate the region of light nuclei, such as O, Ne and F, have been transfer reactions and, more recently, two-step fragmentation. Multi-nucleon transfer reactions can be an important complementary tool to populate this mass region. Deep-inelastic and multi-nucleon transfer reactions have been largely used to study heavier systems, however no information is yet available regarding the effectiveness of these reaction mechanisms going towards lighter nuclei. In this proceeding we present promising preliminary results from an experiment performed with a radioactive $^{24}$Ne beam from SPIRAL facility at GANIL using the VAMOS spectrometer in conjunction with the EXOGAM array.

Deep-inelastic and multi-nucleon transfer reactions can be used to populate nuclei with relatively large neutron excess. Recently, at the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro, a setup consisting on an efficient gamma-ray detection system CLARA coupled to the large acceptance magnetic spectrometer PRISMA, capable of tracking the trajectories of the reaction products, has been assembled. Abstract

Two new gamma-ray photopeaks at energies of 1442 and 842 keV were observed and tentatively assigned to the 4(+)-> 2(+) and 6(+)-> 4(+) transitions, respectively. The systematics of the level structures of N=22 isotones are presented, and a comparison is made of the behavior of Si, Mg, and S isotopes. The level structure of Si-36 is also compared with the results of sdpf shell model calculations.

Abstract

GANIL Expérience; The reduced transition probabilities B(E2;0+\rightarrow 2+_1) of the neutron-rich 74Zn and 70Ni nuclei have been measured by Coulomb excitation in a 208Pb target at intermediate energy. These nuclei have been produced at Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds via interactions of a 60A MeV 76Ge beam with a Be target. The B(E2) value for 70Ni_42 is unexpectedly large, which indicates that neutrons added above N=40 strongly polarize the Z=28 proton core. In the Zn isotopic chain, the steep rise of B(E2) values beyond N=40 continues up to 74Zn 44. The enhanced proton core polarization in 70Ni is attributed to the monopole interaction between the neutron in the g_9/2 and protons in the f_7/2 and f_5/2 spin-orbit partner orbitals. This interaction could result in a weakening of magicity in 78Ni_50.

Abstract

The study of $\gamma$-decays in $^{24}$Mg$^{*}$ is presented for excitation energies between the $\alpha$+$^{20}$Ne (9.3 MeV) and $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C (13.9 MeV) thresholds, where molecular resonances have been observed in $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C collisions. Various theoretical predictions exist for the occurence of superdeformed and hyperdeformed bands which can partially be identified with known resonance structures correlated in several reaction channels, and for which low spin members are predicted within the measured $^{24}$Mg$^{*}$ excitation energy region. The inverse kinematics reaction $^{24}$Mg$+^{12}$C has been investigated at E$_{lab}$($^{24}$Mg) = 130 MeV, an energy which enable the population of $^{24}$Mg states decaying into $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C resonant breakup states. Exclusive data were collected with the Binary Reaction Spetrometer (BRS) in coincidence with EUROBALL installed at the VIVITRON Tandem facility of the IReS at Strasbourg. Specific structures with large deformation were selectively populated in binary reactions and their $\gamma$-decays determined by using the BRS as a master trigger. Coincident events with inelastic as well as with binary $\alpha$-transfer channels have been selected by choosing the excitation energy or the entry point via the two-body Q-values. The analysis of the binary and quasi-binary reaction channels is presented with a particular emphasis on the $^{24}$Mg-$\gamma$ and $^{20}$Ne-$\gamma$ coincidences as well as the $^{12}$C-$^{12}$C coincidences.

Abstract

Nuclear structure of the neutron rich 25 − 29 Ne nuclei has been investigated through the in-beam γ -ray spectroscopy technique using fragmentation reactions of both stable and radioactive beams. Level schemes have been deduced for these Ne isotopes. In order to examine the importance of intruder fp configurations, they are compared to shell model calculations performed either in the restricted sd or in the larger sdpf valence space. Abstract

Matière Nucléaire; The 121,123,125,127Sb nuclei have been produced as fission fragments in three reactions induced by heavy ions: 12C + 238U at 90 MeV bombarding energy, 18O + 208Pb at 85 MeV, and 31P + 176Yb at 152 MeV. Their level schemes have been built from gamma rays detected using the EUROBALL III and IV arrays. High-spin states of 123,125,127Sb nuclei have been identified for the first time. Moreover isomeric states lying around 2.3 MeV have been established in 123,125,127Sb from the delayed coincidences between the fission fragment detector SAPhIR and the gamma array. All the observed states can be described by coupling a d5/2 or g7/2 proton to an excited Sn core involving either vibrational states or broken neutron pairs. PACS

Abstract

The gamma-decay properties of ^24Mg excited states are investigated in the inverse reaction ^24Mg+^12C at E_lab(^24Mg) = 130 MeV. At this energy the direct inelastic scattering populates a ^24*Mg energy region where ^12C+^12C breakup resonances can occur. Very exclusive data were collected with the Binary Reaction Spectrometer (BRS) in coincidence with EUROBALL installed at the VIVITRON Tandem facility of the IReS at Strasbourg. The experimental detection system is described and preliminary results of binary reaction coincidence data are presented.

Abstract

Matière Nucléaire; The neutron-rich $^{66,68}$Ni have been produced at GANIL via interactions of a 65.9A MeV $^{70}$Zn beam with a $^{58}$Ni target. Their reduced transition probability $B(E2$;$0_1^+\rightarrow$2$^+$ has been measured for the first time by Coulomb excitation in a $^{208}$Pb target at intermediate energy. The $B(E2)$ value for $^{68}$Ni$_{40}$ is unexpectedly small. An analysis in terms of large scale shell model calculations stresses the importance of proton core excitations to reproduce the $B(E2)$ values and indicates the erosion of the $N$ = 40 harmonic-oscillator subshell by neutron-pair scattering.

Abstract

Excited states of neutron-rich Ar, Cl, S and P isotopes have been produced via fragmentation of a Ca-48 beam at the GANIL, and studied by using segmented clover Ge and BaF2 gamma -ray detectors in addition to the SPEG. In the present contribution the in-beam gamma -spectroscopic results obtained on S-40,S-42,S-44 and Ar-46 are discussed and compared with the results of a recent large-scale shell model calculation. Evidence has been deduced on coexistence of spherical and deformed shapes in the S-44 nucleus

Abstract

Matière Nucléaire; High-spin states in Cd113-116 have been investigated with the heavy-ion induced fission reaction Si-28 + Yb-176 at 165 MeV. The experiment was performed with the Eurogam II array. New rotational bands based on two quasi-particle states have been observed for even-even cadmium isotopes. A new level scheme based on the 11/2(-) isomeric state is proposed for Cd-115 and the one of (11)3Cd has been extended to spin (31/2(-)). Hartree-Fock calculations for even-even isotopes show a prolate deformation in this mass region. The decoupled bands identified in both odd nuclei are interpreted as being built upon a low-Omega(11/2) quasi-neutron configuration.
