Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Three experiments were conducted. Experiments 1 and 2 was to evaluate the effect of root, shoot and whole plant of sunnhemp (Crotalaria juncea) and jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis) in supplying N to the cabbage crop (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) determining the transfer of legume-N and the fertilizer value of green manure (A Value). The third experiment aimed to evaluate the efficiency of N utilization in growing broccoli in succession zucchini-corn under doses of green manure Crotalaria juncea, labeled with 15N. The first experiment was conducted in pots in the greenhouse and the other two in the field. Experiments 1 and 2 consisted of seven treatments in factorial (2x3) +1, 2 species of legume and 3 plant parts (root, shoot and whole plant) and 1 additional treatment (50% of mineral fertilizer of N recommended dose). The principle of the A Value was used to obtain the fertilizer value and transferring the N-portion of each legume plants. Experiment 3 consisted of the study of the effect of residual N from green manure carried on a system of crop succession organized into three crops. The first crop was the cultivation of broccoli, the second and third crops consisted of zucchini and corn, respectively. Three treatments were established corresponding to green manure doses of 3, 6 and 9 t ha-1 at a dry matter basis, with addition of 12 t ha-1 compost in a dry matter basis. The determination of the efficiency of N utilization of sunnhemp in the crops was based on the principle of isotopic dilution. In experiments 1 and 2, the transfer of legume-N and fertilizer value from whole plant (45,06% and 159,26 kg ha-1 as N-urea) was greater than shoot (24,93% and 63,25 kg ha-1 as N-urea), which in turn was higher than the legumes-N in cabbage grown on the roots of legumes (17,87% and 40,07 kg ha-1 in the form N-urea) in pots. Cabbage plants cultivated in the field on the roots of legumes had negative values for legume-N transfer (-13,59% for sunnhemp and -3,51% for jack bean) and -18,62 kg ha-1 for fertilizer value. Under field conditions, the shoot and whole plant showed high levels of transfer of legumes-N (C. juncea, shoot = 24,35% and 24,46% = whole plant and C. ensiformis, shoots = 13,53% and whole plant = 18,53%) and for fertilizer value (shoot= 76,33 and whole plant= 96,47 kg ha-1 as N-urea). In experiment 3, the % of N in broccoli, zucchini and corn from the green manure obtained at the highest dose of green manure was 74,39; 47,42 and 19%, respectively. The amount of N in broccoli, zucchini and corn from the green manure, increased with increasing doses of applied green manure, reaching values of 58,82; 31,95 and 9,98 kg ha-1 at the highest tested dose, respectively. In pot cultivation (experiment 1), the highest fertilizer value and legumes-N transfer for cabbage cultivation were obtained with the application of the whole plant. The roots of legumes have the lowest fertilizer value and result in less transfer of legumes-N for growing cabbage. The species of green manure had similar fertilizer value. In field cultivation (experiment 2), the shoot or whole plant legumes parts resulted in higher values of legume-N transfer and fertilizer value. Roots of legumes resulted in zero content of legume-N in cabbage. In experiment 3, the largest fraction of residual N sunnhemp was used obeying the sequence of crops broccoli, zucchini and corn, and the recovery of N from green manure was 28,50% for broccoli, 16,22% for zucchini and 5,58% for corn. A total recovery of 50,3% of N from Crotalaria juncea green manure. Foram conduzidos três experimentos. Os experimentos 1 e 2 teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito da raiz, parte aérea e planta inteira de crotalária (Crotalaria juncea) e feijão de porco (Canavalia ensiformis) no fornecimento de N para a cultura do repolho (Brassica oleracea var. capitata), determinando a transferência do N-Leguminosa e do valor fertilizante do adubo verde (Valor A). O experimento 3 teve como objetivo avaliar a eficiência de utilização do N no cultivo de brócolis, na sucessão abobrinha italiana-milho, sob doses do adubo verde Crotalaria juncea, marcada com 15N. O primeiro experimento foi conduzido em vasos em casa de vegetação e os outros dois em campo. Os experimentos 1 e 2 consistiram de sete tratamentos em esquema fatorial (2x3)+1, sendo 2 espécies de leguminosas e 3 partes das plantas (raiz, parte aérea e planta inteira) e 1 tratamento adicional (adubação mineral de 50% da dose recomendada de N). O princípio do Valor A foi utilizado para obter o valor fertilizante e a transferência do N-Leguminosa de cada parte das plantas. O experimento 3 consistiu do estudo do efeito residual do N proveniente da adubação verde realizado num sistema de sucessão de culturas organizado em três cultivos. O primeiro cultivo foi o de brócolis, o segundo e o terceiro cultivos constaram das culturas abobrinha italiana e milho, respectivamente. Foram estabelecidos três tratamentos correspondentes às doses de adubo verde de 3, 6 e 9 t ha-1, em base de matéria seca, com adição de 12 t ha-1 de composto orgânico em base de matéria seca. A determinação da eficiência de utilização do N da crotalária nas culturas baseou-se no princípio da diluição isotópica. Nos experimentos 1 e 2, a transferência do N-Leguminosa e o valor fertilizante proveniente da planta inteira (45,06% e 159,26 kg ha-1 na forma de N-uréia) foi maior que da parte aérea (24,93% e 63,25 kg ha-1 na forma de N-uréia), que por sua vez foi maior que o N-Leguminosa no repolho cultivado sobre as raízes das leguminosas (17,87% e 40,07 kg ha-1 na forma de N-uréia) em vasos. Plantas de repolho no campo cultivadas sobre as raízes de leguminosas apresentaram valores negativos de transferência de N-Leguminosa (-13,59% para crotalária e -3,51% para feijão de porco), assim como o valor fertilizante das raízes foi negativo (-18,62 kg ha-1). Em condições de campo, a parte aérea e planta inteira apresentaram altos valores de transferência do N-Leguminosa (C. juncea, parte aérea= 24,35% e planta inteira= 24,46% e C. ensiformis, parte aérea= 13,53% e planta inteira= 18,53%) e para a cultura do repolho e de valor fertilizante (parte aérea= 76,33 e planta inteira= 96,47 kg ha-1 na forma de N-uréia). No experimento 3, o % do N no brócolis, abobrinha e milho proveniente do adubo verde obtidos na maior dose do adubo verde aplicado foram de 74,39; 47,42 e 19%, respectivamente. A quantidade de N no brócolis, abobrinha e milho proveniente do adubo verde, aumentaram com o incremento das doses do adubo verde aplicado, alcançando valores de 58,82; 31,95 e 9,98 kg ha-1 na maior dose testada, respectivamente. No cultivo em vasos (experimento 1), o maior valor fertilizante da leguminosa e a maior tranferência de N-Leguminosa para o repolho foram obtidos com o cultivo com a aplicação da planta inteira. As raízes das leguminosas possuem o menor valor fertilizante e resultam na menor transferência de N-Leguminosa para a cultura do repolho. As espécies de adubo verde apresentaram valor fertilizante similares. No cultivo em campo (experimento 2), a parte aérea ou a planta inteira de leguminosas resultaram em maiores valores da transferência do N-Leguminosa e maior valor fertilizante. Raízes de leguminosas resultaram em teor zero de N-leguminosa em repolho. No experimento 3, a maior fração do N residual da crotalária foi aproveitada obedecendo a sequência de culturas brócolis, abobrinha e milho, sendo o aproveitamento, em média, do N proveniente do adubo verde de 28,50% para o brócolis, 16,22% para a abobrinha e 5,58% para o milho. Totalizando um aproveitamento de 50,3% do N proveniente do adubo verde Crotalaria juncea.

Para alcançar altas produtividades a cultura do milho é dependente do nitrogênio. Sistemas de plantas de cobertura antecedendo o milho e a forma de cultivo do solo são essenciais para o melhor aproveitamento do nitrogênio pela cultura do milho. O presente trabalho objetivou avaliar o uso ou não da adubação nitrogenada na cultura do milho em sucessão às plantas de cobertura, implantadas em três sistemas de cultivo. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos ao acaso com parcela sub-subdividida, onde as parcelas principais foram constituídas de três sistemas de cultivo (plantio direto, plantio convencional e cultivo mínimo), as subparcelas por quatro plantas de cobertura em cultivo solteiro (aveia preta, ervilhaca peluda, ervilha forrageira e nabo forrageiro) e as sub-subparcelas pela adubação nitrogenada em cobertura (0 e 160 kg ha-1 de N). Foram realizadas avaliações, nas plantas de cobertura, de taxa de cobertura do solo, massa seca, teores e acúmulo de nutrientes. No milho avaliou-se os componentes de rendimento, produtividade, clorofila e teores nutricionais nas folhas. Dentre as espécies de cobertura estudadas a aveia preta demonstrou rusticidade no experimento, cobrindo o solo de forma mais rápida e apresentando maior massa seca, no entanto a ervilhaca peluda apresentou maiores teores de N, P e K e maior acúmulo de N ha-1. O sistema de cultivo do solo influenciou o teor de K foliar. A interação cultivo x cobertura apresentou significância para a clorofila total do milho. Na ausência de N, os teores de N e a clorofila foram maiores onde o milho foi semeado sobre a ervilha forrageira e ervilhaca peluda. A produtividade do milho, apesar de apresentar médias superiores na presença da adubação nitrogenada, não se diferenciou significativamente quando utilizado a ervilha forrageira e a ervilhaca peluda como plantas de cobertura. To achieve high yields the corn crop is dependent on nitrogen. Systems of cover crops preceding corn and form of land cultivation are essential for the best use of nitrogen by corn. This study aimed to evaluate the use or not of nitrogen fertilization in corn in succession to cover crops, planted in three cropping systems. The experimental design was randomized blocks with sub-divided portion where the main plots consisted of three cultivation systems (tillage, conventional tillage and minimum tillage), the subplots by four plant cover in monocrop (oat, hairy vetch, field peas and turnip) and sub-subplots by nitrogen fertilization (0 and 160 kg ha-1 N). Evaluations were performed, the cover crops, soil cover rate, dry matter, content and accumulation of nutrients. In corn we evaluated yield components, yield, chlorophyll and nutrient levels in leaves. Among the species coverage studied the oat showed hardiness in the experiment, covering ground faster and showing more dry matter, however vetch hairy showed higher concentrations of N, P and K and higher accumulation of N ha-1. The soil tillage system influenced the K leaf content. The interaction cultivation x coverage showed significance for the total chlorophyll of corn. In the absence of N, N content and chlorophyll were higher where the corn was sown on the pea and hairy vetch. The corn production, despite a higher average in the presence of nitrogen fertilization, did not differ significantly when used the pea and hairy vetch as a cover crop.
