The genus Ormocarpum P.Beauv. is revised for Malesia and the Pacific region. Several new species (O. fijiense Arbainsyah, O. neocaledonicum Arbainsyah, O. philippinense Arbainsyah, O. sculptilium Arbainsyah, O. smitsii Arbainsyah, O. vanuatense Arbainsyah) are described. Nepenthes limiana, a pitcher plant from the northern Titiwangsa Range of Peninsular Malaysia, is described as new. It is the northernmost known species of the recently defined N. macfarlanei group, whose members are characterised by the presence of conspicuous hairs on the lower surface of the lid. It differs from other members of this group in exhibiting adaptations to seasonal drought in the form of thickened roots and narrow laminae that are reminiscent of those produced by the pyrophytic Nepenthes of Indochina and northernmost Malaysia. Coupled with the presence of decurrent leaf bases, which are not present in any other N. macfarlanei group species but which are present in the pyrophytic Nepenthes, these characters could indicate either morphological convergence or an as yet uncharacterised relationship between N. limiana and the Nepenthes species of Indochina. A species of Nepenthes endemic to Peninsular Malaysia and distinctive for its extremely developed lid hairs is described and illustrated. Nepenthes berbulu is a highland species known only from a handful of peaks in the Titiwangsa Range. It is classified here within the recently defined N. macfarlanei group, for which a dichotomous key is provided. Summary: The genus Thalictrum L. in New Guinea is revised based on morphological evidence. Full descriptions of the genus and the four taxa recognised are given. Two species are recognised: Thalictrum papuanum, widespread across New Guinea, and a new species described here; T. umbraticola, endemic to west New Guinea. Two new varieties are described: Thalictrum papuanum var. acutisegmentum and T. papuanum var. laticarpellum. One new synonym of Thalictrum papuanum var. papuanum is established: T. papuanum var. oranjense. Keys to the taxa and distribution maps, as well as preliminary conservation assessments, are provided. Thismia ornata and T. coronata (Thismiaceae), two new species from Sarawak (Malaysian Borneo) are described and illustrated. Thismia ornata belongs to T. sect. Thismia subsect. Odoardoa and occurs at several localities in western Sarawak around the city of Kuching. This species has been misidentified as T. aseroe until now, although the two species differ considerably. The species is assigned a preliminary conservation status of VU according to IUCN criteria. Thismia coronata belongs to T. sect. Sarcosiphon and has been found at only one site near the village of Long Tuyo in Lawas district of northern Sarawak. It is related to T. goodii and T. kelabitiana. Maesa brevipedicellata, a new species of Maesa (Primulaceae-Maesoideae) from Papua New Guinea, is described and illustrated based on herbarium specimen observations. The collections of this species resemble M. rufovillosa and were previously determined as that species. Maesa brevipedicellata is unique with its self-supporting habit, hispid hairs throughout and paniculate inflorescences with very short pedicels. This new species mainly differs from M. rufovillosa by the habit (tree/shrub in M. brevipedicellata vs climber in M. rufovillosa) and the inflorescence structure (panicles in M. brevipedicellata vs simple racemes in M. rufovillosa). Alangium Lam. sect. Conostigma Bloemb. is largely confined to the Malesian area and contains 19 species. By using the characters as found in the original species-descriptions, and with emphasizing the nature of the indument of the leaf bud, the confusingly variable Alangium javanicum s.l.-complex could be dismantled for a great part. Four new species: A. ledermannii, A. pallens, A. plumbeum, and A. subcordatum, and two new varieties: A. meyeri var. macilentum and A. ebenaceum var. insignis are recognised. Two taxa are raised to specific status: A. nobile subsp. denudatum to A. denudatum and A. javanicum var. minahassicum to A. minahassicum. A systematic treatment of the genus Dalbergia for the Flora Malesiana (FM) region is presented. The treatment includes a genus description, two keys to the species, an enumeration of the species present in the FM-area with names and synonyms, details of distribution, habitat and ecology and where needed some notes, three new species (D. minutiflora, D. pilosa, D. ramosii) are described. A taxonomic revision of the Old-World representatives of the fern genus Orthiopteris is presented. We recognize eight species, one of which is newly described (Orthiopteris samoensis), and five varieties, of which two are newly described (O. campylura var. insularis and O. campylura var. laxa). A new species, Goniothalamus palawanensis C.C.Tang & R.M.K.Saunders, sp. nov. (Annonaceae), is described from Palawan, Philippines. Goniothalamus palawanensis is most closely related to G. amuyon (Blanco) Merr., but differs in its shorter inner petals, hairy ovaries, and funnel-shaped stigmas. A new nomenclatural combination, G. angustifolius (A.C.Sm.) The species of Goniothalamus (Annonaceae) occurring in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore are revised, updating the previous taxonomic treatment by James Sinclair, published in 1955. A total of 18 species is recognized, including a new species, G. tomentosus. Collections referrable to G. tomentosus were previously determined as 'G. marcanii'; examination of the types of G. marcanii reveals that the two taxa are not conspecific, however, and a new name is accordingly validated here. Goniothalamus tomentosus has closest affinities with the Javan/Sumatran species G. costulatus. Other important nomenclatural changes include the reduction of G. umbrosus to synonymy with G. tapis.
