Gazzaniga notes that the idea by neurobiologist Robert Sapolsky on restoring the law based on neuroscience findings led him to follow the idea in a project involving lawyers, neuroscientists, and philosophers. He cites that brain scans can help in detecting a person's abnormality and is a possible use to signal pathological brain states. He states that neuroscience could not address personal responsibility issues.
