Ovarian cancer mortality rates hold a leading position among women’s cancer, which is primarily associated with the pathogenetic features of ovarian cancer, the heterogeneity of the disease, the lack of effective screening and diagnostic methods for early cancer detection. The causes of most ovarian tumors remain unknown. Ovarian benign tumors and tumor-like formations are not among the risk factors of ovarian cancer. The purpose of this literature review is to highlight the latest data from world expert organizations on the possibilities of ovarian neoplasm diagnosis and treatment.

Spinal cord astrocytomas are rare diseases of the central nervous system. The localization of these tumors and their infiltrative growth complicate their surgical resection, increase the risk of postoperative complications, and require more careful use of radio- and chemotherapy. The information on the genetic mutations associated with the onset and development of astrocytomas provides a more accurate neoplasm diagnosis and classification. In some cases, it also allows one to determine the optimal methods for treating the neoplasm, as well as to predict the treatment outcomes and the risks of relapse. To date, a number of molecular markers that are associated with brain astrocytomas and possess prognostic value have been identified and described. Due to the significantly lower incidence of spinal cord astrocytomas, the data on similar markers are much more sparse and are presented with a lesser degree of systematization. However, due to the retrospective studies of clinical material that have been actively conducted abroad in recent years, the formation of statistically significant genetic landscapes for various types of tumors, including intradural spinal cord tumors, has begun. In this regard, the purpose of this review is to analyze and systematize the information on the most significant genetic mutations associated with various types of astrocytomas, as well as discuss the prospects for using the corresponding molecular markers for diagnostic and prognostic purposes.

Objectives. To detect decreases in anogenital warts (AGW) among sex and age groups likely to be affected by human papillomavirus vaccination. Methods. We estimated annual AGW prevalence during 2006 to 2014 using health care claims among US private health insurance enrollees aged 15 to 39 years. We derived AGW diagnoses using 1 of the following: (1) condylomata acuminata diagnosis, (2) viral wart diagnosis combined with a benign anogenital neoplasm diagnosis or destruction or excision of an anogenital lesion, or (3) AGW medication combined with a benign anogenital neoplasm diagnosis or destruction or excision of an anogenital lesion. Results. Prevalence decreased during 2008 to 2014 among females aged 15 to 19 years (annual percentage change [APC] = −14.1%; P Conclusions. We observed AGW decreases among females in the age groups most likely to be affected by human papillomavirus vaccination and decreases in men aged 20 to 24 years. Decreased prevalence in young men is likely attributable to herd protection from vaccination among females.

Objectives: One of the major concerns is the burden COVID-19 will impose on the health care system worldwide Brazil is the second country with the most confirmed cases (more than 1 million cases and 60 thousand deaths) The study aims to evaluate the impact on oncologic treatments by COVID-19 pandemic Methods: Design: retrospective non-interventional study using population-based health administrative databases Setting: payer provider healthcare organization Participants: 41,640 individuals attended by plan Outcomes: number of chemotherapy and radiotherapy prior authorizations during two periods of 90 days, before (P1) and after (P2) the first registered case of COVID-19 Statistics: data were analyzed descriptively considering measures of central tendency for continuous variables and frequency measures for categorical variables Microsoft Excel® v2010 and Qlik Sense® v13 21 were used to data and statistics Results: During the study period (180 days), 1,171 patients underwent chemotherapy (P1=630 and P2=541) a reduction of 14 1% Regarding radiotherapy, decrease was 28 1% (55, P1=32 and P2=23) The most frequently neoplasm were prostate (27 1%), breast (20 4%), bronchi and lungs (5 1%), colon (2 7%), other types (44 7%) Reduction in tests performed was 35 0% (P1= 1,542;P2= 1,002) and hospitalizations was 49 4% (P1= 310;P2= 157) Conclusions: Local health guidelines recommended when possible to postpone procedures due risk of COVID-19 infection during hospital stay and block of hospital beds to attend to the pandemic There was a decrease in Cancer treatments, with a greater reduction in radiotherapy Even after the critical period, we didn´t observe a gradual return of cancer treatments to the standard, as observed in tests and other types of treatments performance, including hospitalizations of other causes If trend continues, there is a possibility of cancer cases worse and negative impact of new neoplasm diagnosis

The working group for abdominal and gastrointestinal diagnosis is a group of the German Radiological Society (DRG) focusing clinically and scientifically on the diagnosis and treatment of the gastrointestinal tract as well as the parenchymal abdominal organs. In this article we give an up-to-date literature review of scientific radiological topics especially covered by German radiologists. The working group experts cover the most recent relevant studies concerning liver-specific contrast media with an emphasis on a new classification system for liver adenomas. Additionally studies regarding selective internal radiotherapy (SIRT) are reviewed. For the pancreas the most important tumors are described followed by an introduction to the most recently introduced functional imaging techniques. The manuscript concludes with some remarks on recent studies and concerning chronic pancreatitis as well as autoimmune pancreatitis. Key Points: • Different subtypes of liver adenomas with different therapeutic consequences can be differentiated by MRI • Most recently published studies focus on liver imaging with extracelluar liver specific contrast media as well as diffusion weighted imaging. They consider this new method having a high diagnostic potential. • For pancreatic neoplasm diagnosis diffusion – as well as perfusion – imaging is considered as a highly promising method. The radiological appearances of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) are numerous and variable, because of the widespread presence of peripheral nerves. Knowledge of this variability can prevent unnecessary intervention. For example, occasionally lesions can be misinterpreted and biopsies performed unnecessarily. Thus, familiarity with the manifestations of this disease and the spectrum of associated abnormalities is an important part of the radiologist's armamentarium. This paper explores the manifold radiological appearances of extracranial NF-1 as experienced by the Sarcoma and Soft Tissue Tumour Unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

The past several decades have been tumultuous with regards to the diagnosis and management of the small renal cortical neoplasm. This significance of this challenge has been exacerbated by the explosive increase in the use of axial imaging technologies, commensurate robust increase in the number of renal tumors which are discovered annually, and increasing pressures to limit healthcare expenditures. All the while, these changes are occurring in light of increased patient expectations for truly “minimally invasive” management options. Remarkable recent changes in our understanding of the epidemiology and biology of the small renal cortical neoplasm have been paralleled by the rapid introduction of biotechnologies and techniques. Active surveillance data has clearly demonstrated the indolent nature of the majority of incidentally discovered small renal lesions. Simultaneously, the critical importance of proper small renal cortical neoplasm diagnosis, including the once taboo concept of renal mass biopsy, is being reconsidered globally. Finally, the Urologic community is now understanding of the major impact of renal function on cardiovascular health and long-term patient survival. From a technological perspective, laparoscopy, robotics and LESS surgery have engendered much interest in the Urologic community. Over time, these technologies have been readily accepted. However, while incremental improvements, laparoscopy, robotics and LESS represent modified access mechanisms, and therefore are maintenance of the existing extirpative gold standard. Remarkably, the concept of ablation has gained limited traction in the Urologic community. Ablation technologies such as cryoablation can be deployed percutaneously under CT or MRI guidance offering the least invasive option for active management. Similarly, longer-term results have demonstrated both excellent oncologic control, safety, and the ability to optimally preserve renal function. The current lecture will review the salient epidemiologic and biologic features of the small renal cortical neoplasm, the importance of pre-treatment biopsy, and the advantages and limitations of contemporary cryoablation.

A patient is described with carcinoma of the colon and severe hypoproteinemia due to excessive loss of plasma protein into the intestinal tract.

Haemagglutination inhibition tests are easy to perform and easy to read. The results are reproducible and are not subject to the vagaries of supply and temperament inherent in tests using living creatures. In a series of tests with Prepuerin done in parallel with the Hogben test the former has shown a higher sensitivity. There have been three false positive results with Prepuerin tests in the series but it was not established on general grounds that pregnancy was not in fact present.

Summary 1.The case history and treatment of a patient with an osteochondromatous exostosis of the zygomatic bone is recorded. 2.A brief account of possible sources of cartilage cells in this situation is given. 3.A discussion of the pathogenesis and prognosis is presented.

In Anlehnung an die Erfolge der Kontrastverstarkungseinrichtung nach dem Prinzip der Fernsehtechnik bzw. amerikanischen Logetronic wird ein Verfahren der Kontrastverstarkung beschrieben, das einfach zu handhaben ist. Mit Hilfe einer stufenweisen regulierbaren Beleuchtung einer 15 Watt-Birne, neuerdings einem regelbaren Blitzlicht, werden Repro-Filme je nach gewuschtem Objekt — Halsweichteile, Knorpel oder Knochen — langer oder kurzer belichtet und normal entwickelt. Eine Auswahl auf diese Weise gewonnener konstrastverstarkter Bilder aus unserem Fachgebiet wird demonstriert.

THE RECENT program Acoustic Neuroma Diagnosis and Surgery held in Los Angeles* provided an excellent opportunity to appraise current ideas for dealing with acoustic neuromas. The meeting of otolaryngologists and neurosurgeons to discuss and exchange information, to observe surgical techniques, and to evaluate honestly what they had heard and seen was, I think, enlightening to both groups. I have attempted to summarize from the otologist's position some of the important points brought out during the conference. With these, there is a certain admixture of personal observations on the basis of my own more limited experience. Diagnosis General agreement exists that considerable progress has been made toward the earlier diagnosis of eighth nerve tumors. This was, in fact, one of the most significant features of the Los Angeles meeting. Prior to the meeting, very few men in either field had fully appreciated the high percentage of very early lesions being diagnosed

Summary The findings of the reproducibility study indicate that the technic of mammography developed by Egan can be learned by other radiologists, that films of acceptable quality can be produced, and that the interpretations provide information which is useful in the clinical management of breast disease.

I have set myself four objectives for this Memorial Lecture. The first is to pay sincere tribute to a truly remarkable man whose memory must be kept perpetuated by this Institute—ophthalmic surgeon, radiologist, inventor and teacher. Secondly, I must, in remembering the life and work of Sir James and his interest in physics, acknowledge the prolonged and rigorous assistance of my physicist colleagues and in particular Mr. Meredith and the team at the Christie Hospital. Without their basic work and specific aid, much that I shall say tonight could never have been written. Thirdly I propose to show how a carefully planned approach for the detection and delineation of cancer has emerged and stood the test of time at the Christie Hospital in Manchester, stating some principles and practices for the detection and accurate delineation of malignant lesions.
