In this communication we present the results of the experimental and traceological analysis of some of the bone awls from the site of Cueva del Toro (Antequera, Malaga, Spain), proceeding from the Late Neolithic layers dated to the last quarter of the fourth millennium cal BC. The cave is one of the most important Neolithic sites of the southern façade of the Iberian Peninsula with human occupations spanning, basically, from the Early to Late Neolithic. In order to quantitatively approach the use of the archaeological tools, a reference collection of the use-wear traces from different materials and different kinematics have been included: boring hide, scraping wood, scraping pottery, drilling bark, working linen and wool, scraping fish skin, etc. Each experimental tool has been measured with a Sensofar S Neox confocal microscope, and sampled images processed with Mountains@ software. After that, this quantitative reference collection has been used to statistically classify the archaeological tools. Results confirm previous analysis through optical reflected-light microscopy suggesting that the awls from Cueva del Toro were used for textile activities.

[EN] Experimental programs focused on various techno-functional issues have been carried out for more than a decade around the research project of the La Draga lacustrine neolithic site (Banyoles-Girona).The extraordinary conservation of archaeological materials made from both inorganic and organic materials has allowed the development of programs that have replicated technical processes of production and use of different tools and artifacts of bone, wood, and stone, used in different activities, such as woodworking and textile production. The Draga experimental project is proposed as a holistic tool for archaeological research, academic training, and dissemination for all audiences. [ES] En torno al proyecto de investigación del yacimiento neolítico lacustre de la Draga (Banyoles-Girona) se lleva a cabo desde hace más de una década programas experimentales centrados en diversas cuestiones tecno funcionales. La extraordinaria conservación de los materiales arqueológicos realizados tanto en materias inorgánicas como orgánicas han permitido desarrollar experimentos que han replicado procesos técnicos de producción y utilización de diferentes herramientas y artefactos de hueso, madera y piedra, utilizados en diferentes actividades, como el trabajo de la madera y la producción textil. El proyecto experimental de la Draga se plantea como una herramienta holística de investigación arqueológica, de formación académica y de divulgación para todos los públicos.

[EN] The archaeological research at Els Trocs cave is a good example of a successful transdisciplinary project. Together with a great team of specialists in different areas of knowledge, we present an update of our research process. The site is a cave that was occupied for more than two millennia, from the Early Neolithic (the end of the 6th millennium cal. BC) to the Late Neolithic (the end of the 4th millennium cal. BC). The groups who currently and seasonally visited the cave focussed their main economic activity in sheep herding. For that chronology, they practised a very specialised management system comprising the vertical movement of livestock (an incipient transhumance) from the river Ebro Basin to the mountains. The combination of analytical research, including micromorphology, zooarchaeology, carbon and oxygen isotopic analyses, archaeobotany, palaeoparasitology, traceology, or the study of the raw material provenance and the similarities of tipology, technology and decoration in pottery compositions provide a comprehensive overview of the subsistence universe of these human groups. Finally, the anthropological and genetic studies help to gain insights into the life experiences of some of individuals who occupied the cave throughout two long cycles of use., [ES] El proyecto de investigación desarrollado en la cueva de Els Trocs se ha convertido en un ejemplo de transdisciplinariedad. De la mano de un amplio equipo de especialistas en distintas áreas de conocimiento, presentamos una puesta al día del proceso de investigación. El yacimiento es una cueva con actividad antrópica durante más de dos milenios, desde el Neolítico antiguo (finales del VI milenio cal. BC) hasta el Neolítico final (finales del IV milenio cal. BC). Sus ocupaciones son recurrentes y estacionales y una de las actividades económicas fundamentales de sus ocupantes debió de ser el pastoreo de ovino, un sistema de explotación muy especializado para la época, que comportaba movimientos altitudinales del ganado desde las tierras de la depresión del Ebro hasta las montañas pirenaicas (incipiente trashumancia). Los análisis micromorfológicos, carpológicos, sedimentológicos, los estudios de la fauna y la microfauna, de los isótopos de carbono y oxígeno, la paleoparasitología, la traceología, la procedencia de las materias primas y las similitudes de las formas, técnicas y composiciones decorativas cerámicas nos ofrecen una visión completa del universo subsistencial de estos grupos humanos. Por último, los análisis antropológicos y genéticos arrojan luz sobre las peripecias vitales de algunos de los individuos que ocuparon la cueva a lo largo de dos amplios ciclos de uso.

The high mountain areas of the Pyrenees have been often labelled as marginal areas, poorly occupied during Prehistory. The implementation of systematic survey and excavation programmes during the last twenty years has radically changed this situation. Today, Pyrenean subalpine and alpine zones appear as dynamic landscapes in which past populations have carried out a diversity of practices, since at least the Mesolithic period. Between the 2015 and 2017, in the frame of a long-term project focused on the archaeological survey of the National Park of d'Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici, the excavation of the Obagues de Ratera rockshelter have been carried out. The site is a small rock shelter formed by an erratic boulder located on the northeastern slope of the Obagues de Ratera valley, at 2.329 m asl. A previous survey made in 2005 highlighted an occupation dated to the Final Neolithic period; however, extensive excavation works revealed a large archaeological sequence covering almost all the Holocene, with three earlier occupation phase, dated to the c. 4100-3900 cal BCE, c. 5700-5600 cal BCE and 8100-7800 cal BCE. In this poster, we will discuss the occupation of the Obagues de Raetera rock shelter in the framework of the Neolithization process of the Ebro valley and the Central Pyrenees, especially focusing on the Mesolithic-Neolithic transition in the study area.

[EN] The excavation of the Las Obagues de Ratera Rockshelter, above 2300 m. of altitude, has allowed to document a large archaeological sequence. An intense radiocarbon dating defines the chronology of these occupations, which from the beginning of the Holocene and until the XXth century, covering different prehistoric and historic periods. The analysis of the materials recovered during excavations complements the image of this little rockshelter as a place used repeatedly but in changing ways over time. The study of this site highlights the archaeological remains of alpine and subalpine areas and reaffirms its potential for the study of the past., [ES] L’excavació de l’Abric de Les Obagues de Ratera, per sobre els 2300 m. d’altitud, ha permès documentar una extensa seqüència arqueològica. La sèrie de datacions radiocarbòniques efectuades ha precisat la cronologia d’aquestes ocupacions, que arrenquen a inicis de l’Holocé i s’estenen fins al s. XX, cobrint diversos períodes prehistòrics, de l’Edat Mitjana i d’època contemporània. L’anàlisi dels materials recuperats durant les excavacions complementa la imatge de l’abric com un lloc utilitzat de manera reiterada i canviant al llarg del temps. Recoge los contenidos presentados a II Congreso de Arqueología y Patrimonio Aragonés (CAPA), [EN] Extended diggings in cave’s area are showing occupations from Neolithic (VI and V Millennium calBC) and Bronze Age (middle of II Millennium calBC). About that, especially in the former, human settlement has to do with their use like a fold cave. We could see this fact in the “fumier” layers. Nevertheless, the presence of storage silos shows the presence of storage activities on the different phases of occupation, cattle stabling and distinction of cave space. We will present the prehistorical occupations in Coro Trasito at the moment. We will show morphological attributes of structures, distinctive features of Neolithic and bronze age silos too. We would like to understand their functionality and spatial distribution, and we will characterize other spatial features., [ES] Las excavaciones en extensión de un sector de la cueva de Coro Trasito están sacando a la luz ocupaciones de época neolítica (VI y V milenio calANE) y de la Edad del Bronce (mediados del II milenio calANE). En ellas, y especialmente en las primeras, el asentamiento humano se llevó a cabo en el marco del uso de la cavidad como redil, tal y como hace evidente la sucesión de capas de “fumier” que conforman la secuencia estratigráfica. Sin embargo, la presencia de fosas en las diferentes fases de ocupación muestra, también, que junto a la estabulación de ganado en el lugar también se llevaron a cabo prácticas de almacenamiento a la vez que, seguramente, se introdujeron elementos para diferenciar espacios. En este trabajo se presenta este aspecto de las ocupaciones prehistóricas documentadas hasta la fecha en Coro Trasito. Se describen las principales características morfológicas de estas estructuras, se detallan los elementos diferenciales de las fosas de la Edad del Bronce y del neolítico y se aportan elementos para inferir su funcionalidad y comprender su distribución espacial dentro de la cavidad. [EN] The archaeological site of La Esparragosa is located in the province of Cadiz, Spain, on the northern shore of the Strait of Gibraltar. The tomb under consideration is an exceptional example, within the context of the so-called “Silos Fields culture”. Excavations have attested a burial pit for one individual, who was found covered by a layer of Ruditapes decussatus (clam) (477 specimens in total). This article presents the first results of the multidisciplinary studies carried out on this burial, including 14C AMS and TL datings, physical anthropology studies and archaeozoological, archaeometrical, use-wear and pollen analysis. These studies highlight the importance of marine resources for this community, both in economic and ideological terms., [ES] El yacimiento de La Esparragosa se encuentra ubicado en la provincia de Cádiz (España), en plena orilla norte del Estrecho de Gibraltar. La tumba que nos ocupa constituye un caso excepcional para la denominada «cultura de los silos», ya que se ha podido documentar en este enterramiento en fosa la existencia de un individuo cubierto por una capa de 477 ejemplares de Ruditapes decussatus (almeja fina). Presentamos un avance del estudio interdisciplinar con dataciones de 14C AMS (una de las cuales es inédita) y TL, antropología física, arqueozoología, funcionalidad y análisis polínico. Estos estudios ponen de relieve la importancia que desempeñó el medio marino para esta comunidad tanto a nivel económico como a nivel ideológico., Este estudio se incluye dentro del Proyecto de Investigación de I+D HAR2017-87324-P, «Análisis de sociedades prehistóricas (del Paleolítico Medio al Neolítico Final) en las dos orillas del Estrecho de Gibraltar. [EN] In this paper, we present the result of a series of experiment aimed at reproducing specific types of use-wear traces related to the use of flaked stone tools in pottery production and maintenance tasks. This experimental programme is focused to the study of the functionality of some stone tools from Neolithic sites located in the NE of the Iberian Peninsula. The experiments and the resulting traces are described in details in the following text. A good correspondence between the archaeological and experimental traces has been observed. Our results testify that different types of tools (unretouched flakes, unretouched blades, retouched blades, borers) were used for different actions associated with the production of pottery vessels., [ES] En este trabajo presentamos los resultados de una primera experimentación realizada con instrumentos líticos tallados cuya finalidad es reproducir las marcas de uso vinculadas con la producción y reparación de vasijas cerámicas. Este programa experimental está enfocado a comprender la función de algunos útiles en sílex procedentes de ciertos yacimientos neolíticos del NE de la Península Ibérica. Tanto los experimentos, como las huellas de uso que se generaron durante la actividad, están descritos de forma detallada en el presente texto. Como resultado de nuestro estudio, podemos decir que hay un fuerte correspondencia entre las huellas observadas en el conjunto arqueológico y las huellas experimentales, atestiguando así la utilización de una variedad de instrumentos de sílex (lascas no retocadas, láminas no retacadas, láminas retocadas, perforadores) para diversas actividades asociadas al proceso productivo de cerámica.

[EN] This paper presents the results of the archaeological and palaeoecological research conducted between 2000 and 2014 in the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park (PNAESM). This included the systematic survey of the most of the National Park territory, included at altitudes between 1500 and 3000 m a.s.l. During the surveys, 350 archaeological sites have been detected and 78 radiocarbon dates have been realized, providing a sequence of human occupation from 10700 cal BP to modern times. In addition, three archaeological sites with stratified deposits have been fully excavated: Cova del Sardo de Boí, Abric de l’Estany de la Coveta I and Dolmen de la Font dels Coms. In parallel, 5 sedimentary cores have been extracted from lakes and one pigbog, from the Natural Park of Alt Pirineu (PNAP) and National Park (PNAESM) areas, providing a full palaeoecological sequence from the last 17.000 years cal BP. This archaeological and palaeoecological dataset (e.g. soil-sites and lake records) allowed advancing new models about the anthropization of the high-altitude areas and the social construction of pastoral landscapes. At the current state of research, the first signs of an anthropic input on the mountain landscape in the Pyrenees date back to ca. 5000 cal BC. The last 15 years of survey and research in the area have demonstrated that first human presence is mainly related to the development of an agro-pastoral economic system, also known as ‘Neolithic’. In this context, mid- and high-altitude areas do not appear to be isolated spaces. In contrast, the latest archaeological data suggests a strong connection between mountains, plains and coastal areas of the NE of the Iberian Peninsula. This area is transitional between the relatively arid inland plains and the alpine landscapes. Here, during a period of 3000 yrs, the palaeoecological and archaeological data shows an increase of anthropic pressure. In this paper we discuss the results of a multidisciplinary research project carried out in the Sant Nicolau valley, a glacial valley located in the western Catalan Pyrenees at altitudes between 1500 to 3000 m a.s.l., and in the rest of the Nacional Park (PNAESM). Our research involves several complementary approaches and disciplines: 1) an extensive survey of the area and the integration of all types of archaeological evidences on a regional GIS; 2) a diachronic study of all the excavated sites, which includes an economic approximation of the archaeological materials and integrated archaeobotanical analyses; 3) an analysis of the landscape evolution through palaeosols and lacustrine sedimentary cores. The first results of this integrated approach are encouraging, showing dynamics in the occupation of the mountains that otherwise would be impossible to detect. In the Nacional Park area human presence seems to be sporadic until the first half of the V millennium cal BC. The first signs of anthropogenic fires, dated between 5200 and 4940 cal BC, seem to anticipate of only a few hundred years the appearance of a major archaeological record at Sant Nicolau button valley. A clear human occupation is dated between 4802 and 4368 cal AC at Cova del Sardo site, and is mainly associated with the exploitation of the subalpine stage for pastoral purposes by groups of southern provenance. Successively, the human presence becomes more discontinuous between 4229 and 3375 cal AC. Gradually moves toward higher altitudes. Indeed an increasing number of sites are established above 2000 m a.s.l., between 3484 and 2345 cal AC. The analysis of the archaeological artefacts suggests that the catchment area of these Neolithic pastoral groups goes from the Ebro Basin to the alpine areas of the Axial Pyrenees. We suggest that the modern landscape, far from being a ‘natural’ environment, is the result of a long-term process of anthropic transformation, starting VII millennia ago. [ES] En este artículo presentamos los resultados de los trabajos de investigación arqueológica y paleoambiental llevados a cabo entre 2000 y 2014 en el Parque Nacional de Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici (PNAESM) y en su área periférica. Dichos trabajos comprenden la prospección sistemática de la mayor parte del territorio, entre 1500 y 3000 m de altitud, que ha permitido documentar 350 sitios arqueológicos, proporcionando 78 dataciones radiocarbónicas que comprenden una secuencia de ocupación de la zona de 10700 años. Asimismo, se ha completado la excavación de tres yacimientos arqueológicos: Cova del Sardo de Boí, Abric de l’Estany de la Coveta I y el Dolmen de la Font dels Coms. El análisis arqueológico y paleoambiental de los sitios, de diversos perfiles y de 5 registros lacustres permiten modelizar la historia de las actividades económicas humanas en la alta montaña y el proceso de construcción de los primeros paisajes pastorales. [EN] Use wear analysis of tools made from hard animal substances, particularly shells, have been approached less using traceological methods than lithic implements have. This contrasts with the abundant ethnographic information about the wide range of activities for which malacological resources can be used. Based on a critical study of this information, the possibilities of use wear analysis as a mean to study these tools are discussed. In this way, despite the need to adapt certain aspects of the methodology developed by S.A. Semenov to the specific characteristics of these materials, we show that its application can provide valuable data about the way of life of human groups. This is demonstrated through the documentation and analysis of various technological uses of shells at sites on the Atlantic coast of Europe in a long time span from the Early Upper Paleolithic to the late Neolithic., [ES] El análisis funcional de los instrumentos de trabajo elaborados en materias duras de origen animal, especialmente las conchas de moluscos, ha sido menos abordado desde el método traceológico que los instrumentos líticos. Esta situación se contrapone con la existencia de abundante información etnográfica que nos muestra una gran variedad de utilizaciones tecnológicas para las que pueden emplearse los recursos malacológicos. A partir del análisis crítico de estas aportaciones se discute acerca de las posibilidades que puede ofrecer la metodología de análisis funcional como vía de estudio para estos elementos tecnológicos. Así, a pesar de la necesidad de adaptar algunos aspectos de la metodología desarrollada por S.A. Semenov a las propias características específicas de estos materiales, mostramos que su aplicación puede aportar valiosa información sobre las formas de vida de los grupos humanos. In this report we assess the results of the microwear study of the Cova del Sardo (Catalan Pyrenees). The site is located at an altitude of 1780 m.a.s.l and presents a sequence of prehistoric occupations with radiocarbon dates from the VI millennium to III millennium cal BC. Our data indicate that lithic resources were used for both subsistence and crafting activities. [EN] Fishing played a fundamental role in the subsistence economy of the Mesolithic and Neolithic inhabitants of Zamostje 2, a site located on the Russian plain (Sergiev Possad, Moscow). Te abundant ichtiofaunal remains and the tools found at the site (harpoons, needle nets, fishhooks and scaling knives) corroborate this importance. In this article, we focus on the consumption of fishhooks through an analysis of the usewear observed on their surfaces. We compare the usewear observed on the archaeological fishhooks with that seen on experimental fishhooks used to capture fish species. We show how some attributes (disposition, quantity and hardness of the fish teeth) influence the nature of the usewear, especially the striations, formed on the surfaces of the fishhooks., [RU] Рыболовство играло важную роль в экономике древних оби-тателей стоянки Замостье 2 в период мезолита и нео лита. Многочисленные остатки рыб и орудия, найденные на сто- янке (гарпуны, иглы для плетения сетей, крючки и ножи для чистки рыбы) — все это свидетельствует в пользу такого предположения. В данной работе основной целью нашего ис-следования является анализ группы рыболовных крючков с точки зрения изучения сохранившихся на поверхности следов использования. Сравниваются следы на эксперимен-тальных крючках с теми, которые наблюдаются на по-верхности археологических предметов. Мы показываем, как определенные характеристики влияют на природу воз-никновения следов использования, в особенности линейных следов, которые образуются на поверхности рыболовных крючков.

[EN] Several ishery constructions were found during investigations on the site Zamostje 2. hree ish-traps made from pine and spruce splinters were discovered during surface excavations. hey dated to the early Neolithic period. Another two constructions made from long pine, spruce and willow splinters were found during underwater prospection in river Dubna bed. hese objects are dated to the late Mesolithic period; their preliminary attribution is a mobile ish-screen. Besides the structures made from wood splinters around 230 vertical piles found during underwater and surface investigations. hey belong to the diferent chronological periods. Some of the piles are linked with ishery constructions; other ones represent remains of separate buildings., [RU] В ходе многолетних исследований на стоянке Замостье 2 были открыты сложные рыболовные конструкции. Три верши из лучин сосны и ели были найдены в ходе наземных раскопок и датируются эпохой раннего неолита. Еще две конструкции из длинных лучин сосны и ивы были обнаружены во время подводных работ в русле реки Дубны и предварительно интерпретируются в качестве переносных заграждений для ловли рыбы. Помимо объектов из расщепленных лучин, в южной части стоянки выявлено 230 вертикальных колов, которые также относятся к разным хронологическим периодам. [EN] In this paper we present the results of twenty years of functional analysis carried out on lithic industries from Neolithic Andalusian sites. Data are presented from a diachronical perspective, individualizing two periods: Ancient and Recent Neolithic. Independently of their geographical situation and the specific nature of each settlement, we must stress the relative homogeneity of the activities documented in the ancient period. They are especially oriented to the exploitation of animal resources, perhaps because of the importance of livestock practices. In the following period the use-wear analysis shows a wider diversification of the working processes, together with the specialization of some sites in certain activities., [ES] En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de veinte años de análisis funcionales efectuados sobre materiales líticos tallados del Neolítico, procedentes de diversos yacimientos andaluces. Los datos se ofrecen con una perspectiva diacrónica, individualizando dos periodos: Neolítico Antiguo y Reciente. Con independencia de su situación geográfica y de la naturaleza específica de cada asentamiento, destaca la relativa homogeneidad de las actividades que se documentan en el periodo más antiguo, centradas fundamentalmente en la explotación de los recursos de origen animal, quizá por la importancia de las prácticas ganaderas. En la siguiente etapa se observa una mayor diversificación de los procesos de trabajo representados en las huellas de uso, así como la especialización de algunos sitios en ciertas actividades.

Proceedings of the International Congress Verona (Italy) 20-23 April 2005, [EN] Agriculture technology during the Neolithic is poorly understood. This topic may be a good way to get some information about the spread of agriculture and the conditions in which agriculture was transmitted and practiced. In this paper we collect the data gathered by several specialists in use-wear analysis about harvesting techniques in different Neolithic sites of Spain and SE France. Three different areas can be clearly distinguished with respect to harvesting techniques: 1) the Lyon Gulf (Catalonia-Languedoc-Provence), where sickle blades in parallel insertion were used and where sickle gloss showed different degrees of abrasion, 2) the Levantine Spanish coast, where bent sickles with dented edges were used and sickle gloss was not abraded, and 3) Cantabrian Spain, where no sickles were used for harvesting. We will try to explain this variability by resorting to ecological conditions, socio-economic contexts and intercultural contacts in which the first agriculture was carried out., [FR] La technologie agricole pendant le Néolithique est peu connue. Ce sujet peut etre une bonne voie pour obtenir des renseignements sur l'expansion de l'agriculture et sur les conditions dans lesquelles l'agriculture a été transmise et pratiquée. Dans cet article nous collectons les informations réunies par quelques spécialistes en analyse fonctionnelle sur les techniques de récolte des céréales dans quelques sites Néolithiques de l 'Espagne et du Sud de la France. Nous pouvons distinguer trois zones par rapport a la technique de récolte: 1) le golfe de Lyon (Catalogne-Languedoc-Provence), ou les des lames-faucille majoritairement en insertion parallele ont été utilisées et le lustre de céréale montre plusieurs degrés d'abrasion, 2) la cóte levantine espagnole, ou les faucilles courbes avec les tranchants dentés ont été utilisées et le lustre de céréale ne montre pas la composante abrasive, el 3) I'Espagne Cantabrique, ou les faucilles n'ont pas été utilisées pour la récolte des céréales. Nous essayons d'expliquer cette variabilité en relation avec les conditions écologiques, les contextes socio-économiques et les contacts culturels dans lesquels la premiere agriculture a été développée.

En aquesta investigació s'ha dut a terme una aproximació a dues activitats socioeconòmiques desenvolupades al jaciment del Neolític Antic de La Draga (Banyoles, Espanya) com són el treball amb fibres vegetals i la pell. L'objectiu principal és verificar si va existir una incipient tecnologia tèxtil al Neolític Antic del NE peninsular i explorar fins a quin punt va perviure el treball de la pell entre les primeres comunitats agrícoles i ramaderes de la regió. Lóbjecte d'estudi d'aquesta tesi és l'instrumental ossi i de fusta del jaciment lacustre de La Draga, datat entre 5.300-4.900 calç BC. Per assolir els objectius s'ha realitzat una aproximació funcional i experimental als instruments ossis i de fusta potencialment vinculats al treball tèxtil i de la pell trobats al jaciment. Els objectius específics són, per una banda, determinar la funció dels objectes elaborats en fusta i os que van poder ser utilitzats en els diferents processos vinculats al procés tèxtil i el treball de la pell, des de l'adquisició de la matèria primera i l'extracció de fibres fins a lobtenció del producte acabat. Es pretén així aportar noves dades sobre les activitats desenvolupades amb aquest tipus d'estris, contribuint en aquest cas a un millor coneixement del treball de la pell i el cuir al Neolític Antic. D'altra banda, també s'han intentat identificar els materials utilitzats per a la creació de tèxtils i altres elements vinculats amb la indumentària a partir de les empremtes que aquests materials han deixat a la superfície dels instruments. Es pretén així evidenciar la pervivència del treball de la pell en un context en què el treball de fibres vegetals està ben documentat i contribuir així al coneixement de la història de la pell com a matèria primera i, en particular, dels instruments utilitzats en la seva pell processat. El darrer objectiu específic ha estat caracteritzar les diferents fases del procés de producció tèxtil i el treball de la pell entre aquestes comunitats. L'estudi de les diferents categories d'indústria òssia i de fusta morfològica, l'experimentació i l'anàlisi d'empremtes d'ús ha permès, en primer lloc, identificar els diversos instruments involucrats en els processos de producció tèxtil i del treball sobre pell. Mentre que pintes i fusiformes de fusta, punxons de pinyol i tensors de fils es relacionen amb el treball de fibres vegetals, el treball de la pell va involucrar l'ús d'espàtules i punxons d'os. Així mateix, es va poder determinar que alguns instruments com els punxons van ser utilitzats en totes dues activitats. Finalment, s'han pogut evidenciar les diferents fases dels processos de producció que van tenir lloc a l'assentament de la Draga, confirmant l'existència d'una tecnologia tèxtil incipient i la pervivència del treball de la pell en aquestes comunitats. El objetivo principal es verificar si existió una incipiente tecnología textil en el Neolítico Antiguo del NE peninsular y explorar hasta qué punto pervivió el trabajo de la piel entre las primeras comunidades agrícolas y ganaderas de la región. El objeto de estudio de esta tesis es el instrumental óseo y de madera del yacimiento lacustre de La Draga, datado entre 5.300-4.900 cal BC. Para alcanzar los objetivos se ha realizado una aproximación funcional y experimental a los instrumentos óseos y de madera potencialmente vinculados al trabajo textil y de la piel hallados en el yacimiento. Los objetivos específicos son, por un lado, determinar la función de los objetos elaborados en madera y hueso que pudieron ser utilizados en los distintos procesos vinculados al proceso textil y el trabajo de la piel, desde la adquisición de la materia primera y la extracción de fibras hasta la obtención del producto acabado. Se pretende así aportar nuevos datos sobre las actividades desarrolladas con este tipo de útiles, contribuyendo en este caso a un mejor conocimiento del trabajo de la piel y el cuero en el Neolítico Antiguo. Por otro lado, también se han tratado de identificar los materiales utilizados para la creación de textiles y otros elementos vinculados con la indumentaria a partir de las huellas que estos materiales han dejado en la superficie de los instrumentos. Se pretende así evidenciar la pervivencia del trabajo de la piel en un contexto en el que el trabajo de fibras vegetales está bien documentado y contribuir así al conocimiento de la historia de la piel como materia prima y, en particular, de los instrumentos utilizados en su procesado. El último objetivo específico ha sido caracterizar las diferentes fases del proceso de producción textil y el trabajo de la piel entre estas comunidades. El estudio de las diferentes categorías de industria ósea y de madera a nivel morfológico, la experimentación y el análisis de huellas de uso ha permitido, en primer lugar, identificar los diversos instrumentos involucrados en los procesos de producción textil y del trabajo sobre piel. Mientras que peines y fusiformes de madera, punzones de hueso y tensores de hilos se relacionan con el trabajo de fibras vegetales, el trabajo de la piel involucró el uso de espátulas y punzones de hueso. Asimismo, se pudo determinar que algunos instrumentos como los punzones fueron utilizados en ambas actividades. Finalmente, se ha podido evidenciar las diferentes fases de los procesos de producción que tuvieron lugar en el asentamiento de La Draga, confirmando la existencia de una incipiente tecnología textil y la pervivencia del trabajo de la piel en estas comunidades. In this research, an approach has been taken to two socioeconomic activities developed in the Ancient Neolithic site of La Draga (Banyoles, Spain) such as work with vegetable fibers and hide. The main objective is to verify whether there was an incipient textile technology in the Early Neolithic of the NE peninsula and to explore to what extent hide work survived among the first agricultural and livestock communities in the region. The object of study of this thesis is the bone and wooden tools from La Draga lake-dwelling site, dated between 5,300-4,900 cal BC. To achieve the objectives, a functional and experimental approach has been made to the bone and wooden instruments potentially related to textile and hide work found at the site. The specific objectives are, on the one hand, to determine the function of the objects made of wood and bone that could be used in the different processes related to the textile process and hide work, since the acquisition of the raw material and the extraction of fibers until obtaining the finished product. In this way, it is intended to provide new data on the activities carried out with this type of tools, contributing in this case to a better knowledge of the work of hide in the Ancient Neolithic. On the other hand, they have also tried to identify the materials used for the creation of textiles and other elements related to clothing from the use-wear that these materials have left on the surface of the instruments. In this way, the aim is to demonstrate the survival of hide work in a context in which the work of vegetable fibers is well documented and thus contribute to the knowledge of the history of hide as a raw material and, in particular, of the tools involved in its production. The last specific objective has been to characterize the different phases of the textile production process and hide work among these communities. The study of the different categories of bone and wood industry at a morphological level, the experimentation and the analysis of the use-wear has allowed, first of all, to identify the various tools involved in the textile production processes and work on hide. While wooden combs and spindles, bone awls, and thread stretchers are related to plant fiber work, hide work involved the use of spatulas and bone awls. Likewise, it was possible to determine that some instruments such as awls were used in both activities. Finally, it has been possible to demonstrate the different phases of the production processes that took place in the settlement of La Draga, confirming the existence of an incipient textile technology and the survival of hide work in these communities.

[EN] Experimental programs focused on various techno-functional issues have been carried out for more than a decade around the research project of the La Draga lacustrine neolithic site (Banyoles-Girona).The extraordinary conservation of archaeological materials made from both inorganic and organic materials has allowed the development of programs that have replicated technical processes of production and use of different tools and artifacts of bone, wood, and stone, used in different activities, such as woodworking and textile production. The Draga experimental project is proposed as a holistic tool for archaeological research, academic training, and dissemination for all audiences., [ES] En torno al proyecto de investigación del yacimiento neolítico lacustre de la Draga (Banyoles-Girona) se lleva a cabo desde hace más de una década programas experimentales centrados en diversas cuestiones tecno funcionales. La extraordinaria conservación de los materiales arqueológicos realizados tanto en materias inorgánicas como orgánicas han permitido desarrollar experimentos que han replicado procesos técnicos de producción y utilización de diferentes herramientas y artefactos de hueso, madera y piedra, utilizados en diferentes actividades, como el trabajo de la madera y la producción textil. El proyecto experimental de la Draga se plantea como una herramienta holística de investigación arqueológica, de formación académica y de divulgación para todos los públicos.

[EN] The study of the process of anthropization of the Pyrenees during Prehistory is a relatively recent discipline. During the course of the last century, archaeological research investigated only marginally the mountainous areas of the Pyrenees, mainly focusing on the Megalithic monuments with an ethnic-cultural perspective. However, since the last decade, archaeologists and other researchers adopted a broader approach to the study of the human occupation of the mountains, integrating the analysis of the past human societies and of their material remains with the analysis of the ancient landscape and climate and their mutual interactions. This work follows this line of research. Here is presented the study of nine occupational layers, belonging to four different archaeological sites located in the Southern Central Pyrenees and dated between the sixth and the third millennia cal BC. Those sites are located in different geographical contexts, as one of the main aims of this research is to advance a comprehensive overview of the humanization processes of the mountains space, including the piedmont areas, the mountain zones and sub-alpine and alpine stages. More specifically, this work is focused on the lithic materials, which analysis is directed toward a socio-economic interpretation of the record. The main aim of the study is to advance a functional classification of the analyzed sites, in order to understand which role such occupations had within the economic system of the prehistoric groups that generated them. Obtained results indicated the existence of a specialization gradient within the mountain environment. The analyzed lithic assemblages are the result of different productive processes associated to certain phases of the pastoral practices. So, one observes relatively stable occupations in the piedmont areas, characterized by a variety of subsistence and manufacturing processes, while mountain and subalpine zones would be characterized by more specialized occupations more strictly related to domestic animal slaughtering or pasturing practices. In conclusion, one can recognize a gradual development, since the earlier stages of the Neolithic `period, of mobile herding strategies over a large territory which from the plain areas of the Ebro valley is extended to the highest peaks of the Axial Pyrenees., [ES] El estudio del proceso de antropización del Pirineo durante la Prehistoria es relativamente reciente. Durante el siglo pasado la investigación arqueológica ha tratado solo de manera marginal las áreas de montaña del Pirineo, dirigiendo su atención hacia los monumentos megalíticos y abarcando su estudio desde un punto de vista étnico-cultural. Ha sido a partir de la última década que se ha empezado a abordar la ocupación humana de los espacios de montaña desde una perspectiva más amplia, integrando el estudio de sociedades humanas con el análisis del paisaje, del clima y de las mutuas interacciones. Este trabajo se sitúa justo en esta línea de investigación. En él se presenta el estudio de nueve niveles de ocupación humana pertenecientes a cuatro yacimientos arqueológicos del Pirineo Central Meridional fechados entre el sexto y el tercer milenio cal BC. Se trata de yacimientos localizados en distintos ámbitos geográficos, siendo uno de los objetivos del presente trabajo el proponer una visión amplia del proceso de poblamiento de los espacios montañosos, incluyendo tanto sitios localizados en zonas de piedemonte, como contextos de media y alta montaña. Más en detalle, el objeto de esta investigación es el registro lítico tallado, cuyo análisis está enfocado hacia una aproximación socio-económica. La finalidad principal es avanzar hacia una clasificación funcional de los diferentes contextos analizados, para entender cuál fue el rol de dichas ocupaciones dentro del sistema económico y productivo de los grupos prehistóricos que les dieron lugar. Los resultados obtenidos por el análisis llevado a cabo han evidenciado la existencia de un gradiente de especialización económico dentro del ambiente montano. Los conjuntos líticos analizados son el resultado de diferentes actividades productivas asociadas al desarrollo de ciertas fases de la actividad pastoril. Así, pasaríamos de ocupaciones relativamente estables asociadas a un amplio abanico de actividades de subsistencia y manufactureras en el fondo del valle y en el piedemonte, a sitios más especializados hacia el pastoreo y la matanza del ganado en áreas de montañas y subalpinas. En particular se ha reconocido el desarrollo gradual, ya des de fases antiguas del Neolítico, de una forma de pastoreo móvil sobre un amplio territorio que, desde los llanos del valle Ebro, llegaría hasta los pastos alpinos del Pirineo Axial y del pre-Pirineo.
