Economic growth is essential for nations endowed with natural resources as it reflects how well those resources are utilized in an efficient and sustainable way. For instance, OPEC member nations, which hold a large proportion of the world's oil and gas reserves, may require a frequent evaluation of economic growth patterns to ensure that the natural resources are best used. For this purpose, this study proposes an inverse data envelopment analysis model for assessing the optimal increase in input resources required for economic growth among OPEC member nations. In this context, economic growth is reflected in the GDP per capita, taking into account possible environmental degradation. Such a model is applied to the selected OPEC member nations, which suggests that in terms of increasing the GDP per capita, only one member was able to achieve the best efficiency (i.e., reaching the efficiency frontier), resulting in a hierarchy or dominance within the sample countries. The analysis results further identify the economic growth potential for each member country. For the case of Indonesia, the analysis suggests that further economic growth may be achieved for Indonesia without additional input resources. This calls for diversification of the nation's economy or investment in other input resources. In addition, the overall results indicated that each member nation could increase its GDP per capita while experiencing minimal environmental degradation. The Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Turkey (MINT) economies are recognized to be bedevilled with many obstacles hampering the economic expansion. In the meantime, many of these problems have not been comprehensively scrutinized in the context of the countries. In recent years, natural resources and tourism development have significantly increased in MINT economies. This study scrutinizes the relationship between natural resource rent, mobile use, foreign direct investment, international tourism, and economic growth in a balanced panel data of four MINT nations from 1971 to 2019. The key finding of this study shows that there is a positive and significant impact of foreign direct investment, natural resource rent, mobile use, and international tourism on MINT's economic growth. Furthermore, the tourism-led growth hypothesis is supported empirically in the case of MINT nations. Furthermore, the Granger causality analysis demonstrates that unidirectional causality is discovered from economic growth to tourism. The study recommends that MINT nations implement some practical tourism strategies to push up economic development, and in turn economic growth will positively contribute to the tourism sector. Natural resources are extremely important to the economy, particularly in emerging nations such as the MINT (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Turkey) nations. To improve their economic performance, such nations put a priority on maximizing the use of natural resources. These natural materials are the basis on which all living creatures rely, and they are the primary motivation behind contemporary production. Therefore, the current research utilizes a dataset spanning the period from 1970 to 2019 to assess the effect of natural resource on economic growth for the MINT nations. The present study uses a unique quantile-on-quantile regression (QQR) approach to assess this interrelationship. Furthermore, we apply the novel quantile causality suggested by Troster (2018), which identifies causality across quantiles. The findings from the QQR reveal that in the majority of the quantiles, the effect of natural resources on economic expansion is positive in Nigeria and Mexico, while it is negative in Indonesia and Turkey. In addition, a feedback causality is found between economic growth and natural resources for Mexico, Indonesia, and Nigeria. Based on the results, it is paramount for policymakers to develop policies or frameworks that promote cleaner energy sources and more effective use of natural resources, which can aid the country's economic growth. The quality of the environment is very important for the sustainability of a country's economic development, and the environment is influenced by macroeconomic indicators. This study aimed to analyze the effect of economic growth, energy consumption, poverty and population on Indonesia's quality of environment index. The data used in this research were secondary data and multiple linear regression was used to analyze the data. Based on the results, energy consumption and population have a significant effect on the index of the quality of the living environment in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the variables of economic growth and poverty have a partially insignificant effect on this index. So the results provide empirical evidence that environmentally friendly energy consumption actions have been well managed. The population was found to have a negative effect on environmental quality, perhaps partly due to irresponsible exploitation by residents where natural resources have became an easy choice for fulfilling needs. While Indonesia has been experiencing relatively considerable and stable economic growth in the last decades, the country is prone to income disparity across regions due to uneven distribution of population, natural resources and the persistent impacts of centralized development imposed by the New Order regime. This study examines the economic growth convergence in East Java, Indonesia, from 2010 to 2019 and explores the influence of government expenditure on education, health, and capital sector on the economic growth convergence. By considering spatial dependence across regions, the result shows no strong evidence of regional income convergence in East Java. Also, this research claims the presence of spillover effect of government expenditure on education and capital sector on regional income growth. Notably, higher government expenditure of the education sector in one region could stimulate higher economic growth of its neighboring regions. Conversely, higher government expenditure on the capital sector in one region may lower the economic growth of its surrounding regions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Regional economic growth is closely related to the optimization of the use of natural and human resources. This study aims to analyze: (1) The use of natural and human resource potential works as a determinant of the economic growth of Bulukumba Regency; (2) The influence of natural resources, human resources, community culture and regulation on economic growth in Bulukumba Regency. The research method used is a combination of mixed models, namely a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data was obtained through observation, survey and documentation. The results of the study show that optimizing the use of natural resources without human resource development causes its contribution to economic growth in Bulukumba Regency to be quite low which becomes an obstacle to the acceleration of economic development. The influence of natural resources, human resources, and community culture together has a significant effect on economic growth in Bulukumba Regency with a coefficient of determination 47.2%. This study recommends optimizing resource potential and strengthening human resource capacity through the use of technology and changes in community culture, which will encourage economic growth in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The aim of this study is to explore the role of urbanization and economic growth in natural resources using a time series data from 1971 to 2018. The current study applied a novel methodology of nonlinear ARDL proposed by Shin et al. (2014). This methodology is ideal to answer the asymmetric effect on the independent variable on the dependent variable. Furthermore, we also applied asymmetric Granger causality introduced by Hatemi-J (2012) to confirm the causal relationship between the variables. The results of NARDL affirmed that all the variables have a significant impact on natural resources rent. The findings confirm that negative shocks of urban intensity decrease the natural resources rents; however, the positive shocks increase the rents of natural resources. On the one hand, the positive and negative shocks of GDP increase the natural resources though, the magnitude of positive shocks are significantly different from the negative shocks. On the other hand, the results of asymmetric Granger causality confirm that positive and negative shock of urban intensity does granger cause positive shocks of natural resources.
