Galangin (Gal) is a natural plant flavonoid. More and more evidence shows that Gal can achieve anti-tumor effects by regulating various mechanisms. However, its poor water solubility, low bioavailability, and insufficient lesion targeting limit its clinical application. To overcome these shortcomings, we designed and developed a mesoporous nanosystem (GE11-CuS) that actively located the target area and photo-controlled drug release, which promoted the rapid accumulation of drugs in tumor tissues under NIR irradiation, thus achieving positive effects against cancer. In this study, we explored the application of the Gal-loaded nanometer system (GE11-CuS@Gal) in the treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) both in vitro and in vivo. The results exhibited that GE11-CuS@Gal had excellent targeting ability and could accumulate efficiently in tumor cells (HSC-3). Meanwhile, the temperature of GE11-CuS@Gal increasing rapidly under NIR illumination damaged the integrity of the carrier and allowed Gal molecules to escape from the pores of the nanoparticles. When the accumulation of Gal in the nidus reached a certain level, the intracellular ROS level could be significantly increased and the antioxidative stress pathway mediated by Nrf2/OH-1 was effectively blocked, to inhibit the growth and migration of tumors. Three kinds of polyhedral α‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles enclosed by different facets including oblique parallel hexahedrons (op‐hexahedral NPs), cracked oblique parallel hexahedrons (cop‐hexahedral NPs), and octadecahedral nanoparticles (octadecahedral NPs), were successfully prepared by simply changing only one reaction parameter in the hydrothermal process. The structural and morphological of the products were systematically studied using various characterizations including X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), revealing that the three kinds of α‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles were enclosed by {104}, {110}/{104}, and {102}/{012}/{104} crystal planes, respectively. The exposed facets and shape of the nanocrystals were found to be affected by the adding amount of ethylene glycol in the solvent. The gas‐sensing properties and mechanism of the α‐Fe2O3 samples were studied and analyzed, which indicated that the sensitivity of the three samples followed the order of octadecahedral NPs > cop‐hexahedral NPs > op‐hexahedral NPs due to the combined effects of specific surface area and oxygen defects in the nanocrystals. Three different Cu2O nanostructures, namely porous nanospheres, nanoparticles, and nanocubes, were synthesized through a facile solution route at room temperature. Structure and morphology of the products were characterized by X-ray diffraction ( XRD), transmission electron microscopy ( TEM), field-emission scanning electron microscopy ( FESEM), and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms. The adsorption behavior of Methyl Orange ( MO) onto these Cu2O nanostructures was investigated, considering the effect of initial methyl orange concentration and the additive amount of Cu2O products. The kinetic and equilibrium investigations suggested that the adsorption process of MO followed a pseudo-second order rate equation and the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity of the three samples followed the sequence: porous nanospheres > nanoparticles > nanocubes, which was in accordance of the BET specific surface of the samples. In addition, further investigations indicated that the as-prepared Cu2O nanostructures also show good adsorption properties for other anionic dyes including Congo red and Methyl blue. A novel translucent TiO 2 porous film was prepared through etched method. The CdS, PbS and CdS/PbS nanoclusters were imbedded on TiO 2 porous film by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction method. Microstructure, morphology, optical and photoelectron-chemical properties of the as-synthesized thin films were investigated systematically. XRD and morphology analysis showed that PbS or CdS nanoclusters have been attached to the TiO 2 porous films. It was found that the energy band gap of TiO 2 porous film decreased from 3.46 to 3.2 eV after sensitized with nanoclusters. The photocurrent density of ITO/TiO 2 photoelectrode increased from 0.017 to 0.28 mA/cm 2 after co-sensitized with CdS and PbS nanoclusters. Besides, the photoelectrode sensitized with two sorts of nanoclusters showed evident higher photocurrent density than which sensitized just one sort of nanoclusters. The photocurrent density of ITO/TiO 2 /PbS and TO/TiO 2 /CdS photoelectrode was 0.11 mA/cm 2 and 0.22 mA/cm 2 respectively. 0.28 mA/cm 2 can be obtained by ITO/TiO 2 /CdS/PbS photoelectrode. The results showed that the optical and photoelectrochemistry properties and phtotcatalysis performance of TiO 2 porous film were greatly improved by co-sensitized with CdS and PbS nanoclusters. Different surface morphologies of TiO 2 thin films were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis method on Ti substrates through changing reaction time. The microstructure, composition, optical properties and photocatalytic properties of TiO 2 thin films were systematically investigated by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectrometer and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. As the reaction time increases, anatase structure and brookite structure of TiO 2 films respectively increases and decreases, corresponding to surface morphology changes from irregular structure to regular geometrical shape structure. These structural changes are accompanied by significant variations of optical properties and photocatalytic properties including a widening of the band gap from 2.86 to 3.19 eV, photocatalytic degradation efficiency from 92.5 to 98.1% and photocatalytic degradation rate from 0.032 to 0.048 min −1 . Among all samples, TiO 2 -1 shows the best photocatalytic properties. Compositional analysis indicates that TiO 2 surface layer contains Ti and O elements, the ratio of Ti:O is 1:2.28 which is close to the atom ratio of TiO 2 . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Uniform Cu2O nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized through a facile additive-free aqueous solution route at room temperature. The structure and morphology of the products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the products were Cu2O nanocubes of 110–130nm in side length. The size of the nanocubes can be tuned from 20nm to 500nm by changing the concentration of the sodium hydroxide solution and the kind of copper salts. The visible-light photocatalytic properties of the as-obtained Cu2O products were investigated. The results showed that these Cu2O nanoparticles exhibited good photocatalytic activity towards methyl orange (MO). [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanostructures with different morphologies have been synthesized by a simple ethylene glycol (EG)/H2O system using FeCl3 and urea as raw materials without adding any additives. Structure and morphology of the products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The results indicated that the as-prepared samples are α-Fe2O3 microflowers, nanospindles, nanoparticles and nanorhombohedra. The magnetic properties and visible light photocatalytic properties of the products were investigated. The magnetic hysteresis measurements showed interesting magnetic property evolution among these α-Fe2O3 products, which can be attributed to their superstructure or the shape anisotropy. Abstract: Uniform hematite nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized through a surfactant mediated hydrothermal method. The structure and morphology of the products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. The results showed that the products were α-Fe2O3 nanoellipsoids of 115–140nm in long axis and 60–80nm in short axis. The growth mechanism of the products was proposed based on the experiments. Uniform nanospindles, nanoellipsoids, nanospheres, and nanopolyhedra with different sizes can be obtained by adjusting the reaction temperature, the amount of additive, and concentration of the reactants. Abstract: Single-crystal cuprous iodide semiconductor nanospheres were fabricated via a mild low-temperature solution route by using polyvinyl pyrrolidone as capping agent and the mixture of water and polyethylene glycol 400 as solvent. The structure, morphology, and properties of the products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermal gravimetry and photoluminescence spectrometry. The results showed that the products were CuI nanospheres of ca. 280–650nm in diameter and were composed of quasi-trigonal particles of ca. 20–40nm. The phase transformation temperature and the melting point of the products decreased by ca. 12 and 8°C compared with the bulk CuI. Abstract Resveratrol (2,5,4′-trihydroxystilbene) is a naturally occurring phytoalexin produced by some spermatogphytes and it has recently attracted the increasing attention of agronomists and pharmacologists owing to its satisfactory bioactivities. The objective of this work was to develop a cost-effective technology of foam fractionation to recover trans -resveratrol (trans -Res) from the leaching solution of muscat grape pomace on the assistance of molecular imprinting modified SiO 2 nanoparticles. First, trans -Res was leached from muscat grape pomace through the method of alkaline extraction. Under the suitable leaching conditions, the leaching yield of trans -Res reached 84.34%. Adsorption experiments were performed for describing the adsorption behavior of trans -Res on the molecular imprinting modified SiO 2 nanoparticles. Results indicated that their adsorption could be fairly described by Freundlich model and fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetics model. Moreover, the molecular imprinting modified SiO 2 nanoparticles could effectively maintain the stability of trans -Res through avoiding the cis-trans photo-isomerization and oxidative degradation. Finally, foam fractionation was carried out for recovering trans -Res from the leaching solution, in which the concentration of trans -Res was as high as 29.09 mg/L. The molecular imprinting modified SiO 2 nanoparticles were used as the collector. Under the suitable conditions of loading liquid volume 250 mL, particle size of molecular imprinting modified SiO 2 nanoparticles 436.0 nm, sapindus saponin concentration 0.075 g/L, volumetric gas flow rate 100 mL/min and pore diameter of gas distributor 0.180 mm, the enrichment ratio and the recovery percentage of trans -Res reached 13.68 ± 1.03 and 89.73 ± 3.57%, respectively. This work is expected to provide a new technology for selectively recovering non-surface-active materials from the solution with their isomers or analogues, and to facilitate the industrialization of foam fractionation.
