At present, there is a growing interest in the theme of giftedness and gifted students. However, newer and less familiar theme is the theme of gifted children and students with disabilities called "double exceptionality". The theoretical part focuses on describing the theme of giftedness, some theories and models of giftedness, highly specific field and problems of gifted children and students with learning disabilities, eventually with other handicaps too. In the empirical part of this thesis the aim is to present specific expressions, the link with development and influences of educational approach to children and students through casuistries. This data should be a practical replenishment of mapped psychological problems of gifted children and students with handicap that the theoretical part of the thesis deal with.

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of gifted children in the classroom environment. The main general topic of my thesis is: What is it like to be a gifted child among other children in the classroom? The topics of research to which I sought answers are as follows: 1. How do the closest people around the gifted child participate in developing its talents in the context of the classroom? 2. How are gifted children perceived by their parents and teachers and how it influences their position among their peers and also how it affects their educational process?. 3. What kind of relationships do the extraordinarily talented children have with their classroom peers and their teacher? In the theoretical part of the thesis a basic overview of current research of giftedness in children and its development is summarized. Much attention is devoted to social factors that have an influence on the talent development. In accordance with Mönks (1993) I determined family, age-peer group, and school environment to be those factors. The practical part of the thesis is carried out as a qualitative multi-case study with three gifted children, their mothers and their teachers. The present bachelor's thesis focuses on the problems of gifted students, specifically on the students gifted in natural sciences. Methodologically, it represents a qualitative multiple-case study in which I explored in detail educational careers of four cases, i.e. individual students gifted in science. In the theoretical part, I introduced the basic concepts and theories of giftedness. In the following empirical part I conducted semi-structured interviews with the participants which were subsequently processed by thematic analysis. The main goal of the study is to analyze the factors that may shape the development of the scientific talent. I strive to understand the meaning, which the talent acquired in the lives of researched individuals and how it influenced their perspective of their future professional careers.

Results of contemporary research prompt schools to implement big changes in attitudes and policies toward this group of students. The bachelor's thesis focuses on a specific topic in this area as it researches development of gifted girls in the age of adolescence. As the methodological background, the dissertation uses the form of case study. The main goal is to eximine how gifted girls perceive their giftedness, what it means for them and how they plan to use it in the future. Because of the age of the respondents (examined girls), I will focus on an issue of attaining personal identity and examine, how girls face their problems during maturing. Besides this I will deal with some phenomena that are considered as typical in gifted girls. The empirical part is based on interviews with the girls which allowed me to approach and understand their subjective perspective on their giftedness.
