In light of the upcoming measurement of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (g-2), we revisit the corrections to g-2 in the context of the SU(4)L×U(1)X gauge symmetry. We investigate three models based on this gauge symmetry and express our results in terms of the energy scale at which the SU(4)L×U(1)X symmetry is broken. To draw solid conclusions we put our findings into perspective with existing collider bounds. Lastly, we highlight the difference between our results and those rising from SU(3)L×U(1)X constructions. The Muon g-2 experiment at FERMILAB has confirmed the muon anomalous magnetic moment anomaly, with an error bar 15% smaller and a different central value compared with the previous Brookhaven result. The combined results from FERMILAB and Brookhaven show a difference with theory at a significance of 4.2 σ , strongly indicating the presence of new physics. In light of this new result, we discuss a Two Higgs Doublet model augmented by an Abelian gauge symmetry that can simultaneously accommodate a light dark matter candidate and (g − 2) μ , in agreement with existing bounds. Motivated by the recent muon anomalous magnetic moment (g-2) measurement at FERMILAB and non-zero neutrino masses, we propose a model based on the S U (3) C × S U (3) L × U (1) X (3-3-1) gauge symmetry. The most popular 3-3-1 models in the literature require the presence of a scalar sextet to address neutrino masses. In our work, we show that we can successfully implement an one-loop linear seesaw mechanism with right-handed neutrinos, and vector-like fermions to nicely explain the active neutrino masses, and additionally reproduce the recent Muon g-2 result, in agreement with existing bounds. Since the heavy neutrinos of the inverse seesaw mechanism mix largely with the standard ones, the charged currents formed with them and the muons have the potential of generating robust and positive contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. However, bounds from the non-unitary in the leptonic mixing matrix may restrict so severely the parameters of the mechanism that, depending on the framework under which the mechanism is implemented, may render it unable to explain the recent muon g-2 result. We have witnessed a persistent puzzling anomaly in the muon magnetic moment that cannot be accounted for in the Standard Model even considering the existing large hadronic uncertainties. A new measurement is forthcoming, and it might give rise to a 5 σ claim for physics beyond the Standard Model. Motivated by it, we explore the implications of this new result to five models based on the S U (3) C × S U (3) L × U (1) N gauge symmetry and put our conclusions into perspective with LHC bounds. We show that previous conclusions found in the context of such models change if there are more than one heavy particle running in the loop. Moreover, having in mind the projected precision aimed by the g-2 experiment at FERMILAB, we place lower mass bounds on the particles that contribute to muon anomalous magnetic moment assuming the anomaly is otherwise resolved.
