Abstract: We present measurements of Collins asymmetries in the inclusive process e+e-→h1h2X, h1h2=KK, Kπ, ππ, at the center-of-mass energy of 10.6 GeV, using a data sample of 468 fb-1 collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B factory at SLAC National Accelerator Center. Considering hadrons in opposite thrust hemispheres of hadronic events, we observe clear azimuthal asymmetries in the ratio of unlike sign to like sign, and unlike sign to all charged h1h2 pairs, which increase with hadron energies. The Kπ asymmetries are similar to those measured for the ππ pairs, whereas those measured for high-energy KK pairs are, in general, larger.

Abstract: Charge asymmetry in the processes e+e-→μ+μ-γ and e+e-→π+π-γ is measured using 232 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at e+e- center-of-mass energies near 10.58 GeV. An observable is introduced and shown to be very robust against detector asymmetries while keeping a large sensitivity to the physical charge asymmetry that results from the interference between initial- and final-state radiation (FSR). The asymmetry is determined as a function of the invariant mass of the final-state tracks from production threshold to a few GeV/c2. It is compared to the expectation from QED for e+e-→μ+μ-γ, and from theoretical models for e+e-→π+π-γ. A clear interference pattern is observed in e+e-→π+π-γ, particularly in the vicinity of the f2(1270) resonance. The inferred rate of lowest-order FSR production is consistent with the QED expectation for e+e-→μ+μ-γ, and is negligibly small for e+e-→π+π-γ.

Abstract: The e+e-→K+K- cross section and charged-kaon electromagnetic form factor are measured in the e+e- center-of-mass energy range (E) from 2.6 to 8.0 GeV using the initial-state radiation technique with an undetected photon. The study is performed using 469fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II2 e+e- collider at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The form factor is found to decrease with energy faster than 1/E2 and approaches the asymptotic QCD prediction. Production of the K+K- final state through the J/ψ and ψ(2S) intermediate states is observed. The results for the kaon form factor are used together with data from other experiments to perform a model-independent determination of the relative phases between electromagnetic (single-photon) and strong amplitudes in J/ψ and ψ(2S)→K+K- decays. The values of the branching fractions measured in the reaction e+e-→K+K- are shifted relative to their true values due to interference between resonant and nonresonant amplitudes. The values of these shifts are determined to be about ±5% for the J/ψ meson and ±15% for the ψ(2S) meson.

Abstract: A search is presented for the decay (1S)→γA0, A0→cc¯, where A0 is a candidate for the CP-odd Higgs boson of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. The search is based on data collected with the BABAR detector at the (2S) resonance. A sample of (1S) mesons is selected via the decay (2S)→π+π-(1S). The A0→cc¯ decay is identified through the reconstruction of hadronic D0, D+, and D∗(2010)+ meson decays. No significant signal is observed. The measured 90% confidence-level upper limits on the product branching fraction B((1S)→γA0)×B(A0→cc¯) range from 7.4×10-5 to 2.4×10-3 for A0 masses from 4.00 to 8.95GeV/c2 and 9.10 to 9.25GeV/c2, where the region between 8.95 and 9.10GeV/c2 is excluded because of background from (2S)→γχbJ(1P), χbJ(1P)→γ(1S) decays.

Abstract: Based on a sample of 500 million e+e-→cc¯ events recorded by the BABAR detector at c.m. energies of close to 10.6 GeV, we report on a study of the decay D0→π-e+νe. We measure the ratio of branching fractions, RD=B(D0→π-e+νe)/B(D0→K-π+)=0.0713±0.0017stat±0.0024syst, and use the present world average for B(D0→K-π+) to obtain B(D0→π-e+νe)=(2.770±0.068stat±0.092syst±0.037ext)×10-3 where the third error accounts for the uncertainty on the branching fraction for the reference channel. The measured dependence of the differential branching fraction on q2, the four-momentum transfer squared between the D and the π meson, is compared to various theoretical predictions for the hadronic form factor, f+,Dπ(q2), and the normalization |Vcd|×f+,Dπ(q2=0)=0.1374±0.0038stat±0.0022syst±0.0009ext. is extracted from a fit to data. Using the most recent LQCD prediction of f+,Dπ(q2=0)=0.666±0.029, we obtain |Vcd|=0.206±0.007exp±0.009LQCD. Assuming, instead, |Vcd|=|Vus|=0.2252±0.0009, we obtain f+,Dπ(q2=0)=0.610±0.020exp±0.005ext. The q2 dependence of f+,Dπ(q2) is compared to a variety of multipole parametrizations. This information is applied to B0→π-e+νe decays and, combined with an earlier B0→π-e+νe measurement by BABAR, is used to derive estimates of |Vub|.

Abstract: We perform a measurement of the τ→lγνν¯ (l=e,μ) branching fractions for a minimum photon energy of 10 MeV in the τ rest frame, using 431fb-1 of e+e- collisions collected at the center-of-mass energy of the (4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage rings. We find B(τ→μγνν¯)=(3.69±0.03±0.10)×10-3 and B(τ→eγνν¯)=(1.847±0.015±0.052)×10-2, where the first quoted error is statistical and the second is systematic. These results are substantially more precise than previous measurements.

Abstract: We present Dalitz plot analyses for the decays of B mesons to D-D0K+ and D¯0D0K+. We report the observation of the Ds1∗(2700)+ resonance in these two channels and obtain measurements of the mass M(Ds1∗(2700)+)=2699-7+14MeV/c2 and of the width Γ(Ds1∗(2700)+)=127-19+24MeV, including statistical and systematic uncertainties. Abstract: We present Dalitz plot analyses for the decays of B mesons to D-D0K+ and D¯0D0K+. We report the observation of the Ds1∗(2700)+ resonance in these two channels and obtain measurements of the mass M(Ds1∗(2700)+)=2699-7+14MeV/c2 and of the width Γ(Ds1∗(2700)+)=127-19+24MeV, including statistical and systematic uncertainties. In addition, we observe an enhancement in the D0K+ invariant mass around 2350-2500MeV/c2 in both decays B0→D-D0K+ and B+→D¯0D0K+, which we are not able to interpret. Abstract: Based on a sample of 500 million e+e-→cc¯ events recorded by the BABAR detector at c.m. energies of close to 10.6 GeV, we report on a study of the decay D0→π-e+νe. We measure the ratio of branching fractions, RD=B(D0→π-e+νe)/B(D0→K-π+)=0.0713±0.0017stat±0.0024syst, and use the present world average for B(D0→K-π+) to obtain B(D0→π-e+νe)=(2.770±0.068stat±0.092syst±0.037ext)×10-3 where the third error accounts for the uncertainty on the branching fraction for the reference channel. The measured dependence of the differential branching fraction on q2, the four-momentum transfer squared between the D and the π meson, is compared to various theoretical predictions for the hadronic form factor, f+,Dπ(q2), and the normalization |Vcd|×f+,Dπ(q2=0)=0.1374±0.0038stat±0.0022syst±0.0009ext. is extracted from a fit to data. Using the most recent LQCD prediction of f+,Dπ(q2=0)=0.666±0.029, we obtain |Vcd|=0.206±0.007exp±0.009LQCD. Assuming, instead, |Vcd|=|Vus|=0.2252±0.0009, we obtain f+,Dπ(q2=0)=0.610±0.020exp±0.005ext. The q2 dependence of f+,Dπ(q2) is compared to a variety of multipole parametrizations. This information is applied to B0→π-e+νe decays and, combined with an earlier B0→π-e+νe measurement by BABAR, is used to derive estimates of |Vub|.

Abstract: We perform a measurement of the τ→lγνν¯ (l=e,μ) branching fractions for a minimum photon energy of 10 MeV in the τ rest frame, using 431fb-1 of e+e- collisions collected at the center-of-mass energy of the (4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage rings. We find B(τ→μγνν¯)=(3.69±0.03±0.10)×10-3 and B(τ→eγνν¯)=(1.847±0.015±0.052)×10-2, where the first quoted error is statistical and the second is systematic. These results are substantially more precise than previous measurements.

Abstract: We report the observation of the baryonic decay B¯0→Λc+p¯K-K+ using a data sample of 471×106 BB¯ pairs produced in e+e- annihilations at s=10.58GeV. This data sample was recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring at SLAC. We find B(B¯0→Λc+p¯K-K+)=(2.5±0.4(stat)±0.2(syst)±0.6B(Λc+))×10-5, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the uncertainty of the Λc+→pK-π+ branching fraction, respectively. The result has a significance corresponding to 5.0 standard deviations, including all uncertainties. For the resonant decay B¯0→Λc+p¯φ, we determine the upper limit B(B¯0→Λc+p¯φ)

Abstract: We use (121±1) million Υ(3S) and (98±1) million Υ(2S) mesons recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider at SLAC to perform a study of radiative transitions involving the χbJ(1P,2P) states in exclusive decays with μ+μ-γγ final states. We reconstruct twelve channels in four cascades using two complementary methods. In the first we identify both signal photon candidates in the electromagnetic calorimeter (EMC), employ a calorimeter timing-based technique to reduce backgrounds, and determine branching-ratio products and fine mass splittings. These results include the best observational significance yet for the χb0(2P)→γΥ(2S) and χb0(1P)→γΥ(1S) transitions. In the second method, we identify one photon candidate in the EMC and one which has converted into an e+e- pair due to interaction with detector material, and we measure absolute product branching fractions. This method is particularly useful for measuring Υ(3S)→γχb1,2(1P) decays. Additionally, we provide the most up-to-date derived branching fractions, matrix elements and mass splittings for χb transitions in the bottomonium system. Using a new technique, we also measure the two lowest-order spin-dependent coefficients in the nonrelativistic QCD Hamiltonian.

Abstract: We report on a search in e+e- annihilations for new π0-like particles produced in association with a τ-lepton pair. These objects, with a similar mass and similar decay modes to π0 mesons, could provide an explanation for the non-asymptotic behavior of the pion-photon transition form factor observed by the BABAR Collaboration. No significant signal is observed, and limits on the production cross section at the level of 73 fb or 370 fb, depending on the model parameters, are determined at 90% confidence level. These upper limits lie below the cross section values needed to explain the BABAR form factor data.

Abstract: We measure the direct CP violation asymmetry, ACP, in B→Xsγ and the isospin difference of the asymmetry, ΔACP, using 429fb-1 of data collected at(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- storage rings operating at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. B mesons are reconstructed from ten charged B final states and six neutral B final states. We find ACP=+(1.7±1.9±1.0)%, which is in agreement with the Standard Model prediction and provides an improvement on the world average. Moreover, we report the first measurement of the difference between ACP for charged and neutral decay modes, ΔACP=+(5.0±3.9±1.5)%. Using the value of ΔACP, we also provide 68% and 90% confidence intervals on the imaginary part of the ratio of the Wilson coefficients corresponding to the chromomagnetic dipole and the electromagnetic dipole transitions.

Abstract: We present measurements of Collins asymmetries in the inclusive process e+e-→ππX, where π stands for charged pions, at a center-of-mass energy of 10.6 GeV. We use a data sample of 468fb-1 collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B factory at SLAC, and consider pairs of charged pions produced in opposite hemispheres of hadronic events. We observe clear asymmetries in the distributions of the azimuthal angles in two distinct reference frames. We study the dependence of the asymmetry on several kinematic variables, finding that it increases with increasing pion momentum and momentum transverse to the analysis axis, and with increasing angle between the thrust and beam axis.

Abstract: We present measurements of the inclusive production of antideuterons in e+e- annihilation into hadrons at ≈10.58GeV center-of-mass energy and in (1S,2S,3S) decays. The results are obtained using data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II electron-positron collider. Abstract: We study the processes γγ→K+K-η and γγ→K+K-π0 using a data sample of 519fb-1 recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the (nS) (n=2,3,4) resonances. We observe ηc→K+K-π0 and ηc→K+K-η decays, measure their relative branching fraction, and perform a Dalitz plot analysis for each decay. We observe the K0*(1430)→Kη decay and measure its branching fraction relative to the Kπ decay mode to be R(K0*(1430))=B(K0*(1430) →Kη)B(K0*(1430)→Kπ)=0.092±0.025-0.025+0.010. The ηc→K+K-η and K0*(1430)→Kη results correspond to the first observations of these channels. The data also show evidence for ηc(2S)→K+K-π0 and first evidence for ηc(2S)→K+K-η. © 2014 American Physical Society.

Abstract: Evidence is presented for the baryonic B meson decay B̄0→ D0ΛΛ̄ based on a data sample of 471×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider located at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The branching fraction is determined to be B(B̄0→D0ΛΛ̄)=(9.8-2.6+2. 9±1.9)×10-6, corresponding to a significance of 3.4 standard deviations including additive systematic uncertainties. A search for the related baryonic B meson decay B̄0→D0Σ0Λ̄ with Σ0→Λγ is performed and an upper limit B(B̄0→D0Σ0Λ̄+B̄0→D0ΛΣ̄0)

Abstract: We study the processes γγ→K+K-η and γγ→K+K-π0 using a data sample of 519fb-1 recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the (nS) (n=2,3,4) resonances. We observe ηc→K+K-π0 and ηc→K+K-η decays, measure their relative branching fraction, and perform a Dalitz plot analysis for each decay. We observe the K0*(1430)→Kη decay and measure its branching fraction relative to the Kπ decay mode to be R(K0*(1430))=B(K0*(1430) →Kη)B(K0*(1430)→Kπ)=0.092±0.025-0.025+0.010. The ηc→K+K-η and K0*(1430)→Kη results correspond to the first observations of these channels. The data also show evidence for ηc(2S)→K+K-π0 and first evidence for ηc(2S)→K+K-η. © 2014 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present measurements of the inclusive production of antideuterons in e+e- annihilation into hadrons at ≈10.58GeV center-of-mass energy and in (1S,2S,3S) decays. The results are obtained using data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II electron-positron collider. Assuming a fireball spectral shape for the emitted antideuteron momentum, we find B((1S)→d̄X)=(2. 81±0.49(stat)-0.24+0.20(syst))×10-5, B((2S)→d̄X)=(2. 64±0.11(stat)-0.21+0.26(syst))×10-5, B((3S)→d̄X)=(2. 33±0.15(stat)-0.28+0.31(syst))×10-5, and σ(e+e- →d̄X)=(9.63±0.41(stat)-1.01+1.17(syst)fb. © 2014 American Physical Society.

The results are based on 469fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. We observe the φ(1020) resonance in the KS0KL0 final state and measure the product of its electronic width and branching fraction with about 3% uncertainty. We present a measurement of the e+e-→KS0KL0 cross section in the energy range from 1.06 to 2.2 GeV and observe the production of a resonance at 1.67 GeV. We present the first measurements of the e+e-→KS0KL0π+π-, KS0KS0π+π-, and KS0KS0K+K- cross sections and study the intermediate resonance structures. We obtain the first observations of J/ψ decay to the KS0KL0π+π-, KS0KS0π+π-, and KS0KS0K+K- final states. © 2014 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report on a search for eleven lepton-number violating processes B+→X-ℓ+ℓ′+ with X-=K-, π-, ρ-, K*-, or D- and ℓ+/ℓ′+=e+ or μ+, using a sample of 471±3 million BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no evidence for any of these modes and place 90% confidence level upper limits on their branching fractions in the range (1.5-26)×10-7. © 2014 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report on a search for eleven lepton-number violating processes B+→X-ℓ+ℓ′+ with X-=K-, π-, ρ-, K*-, or D- and ℓ+/ℓ′+=e+ or μ+, using a sample of 471±3 million BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no evidence for any of these modes and place 90% confidence level upper limits on their branching fractions in the range (1.5-26)×10-7. © 2014 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the D0 meson mass using the decay chain D*(2010)+→D0π+ with D0→K -K-K+π+. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the Υ(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 477 fb-1. We obtain m(D0)=(1864.841±0.048±0.063) MeV, where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. The uncertainty of this measurement is half that of the best previous measurement. © 2013 American Physical Society.

Abstract: The e+e-→pp̄ cross section and the proton magnetic form factor have been measured in the center-of-mass energy range from 3.0 to 6.5 GeV using the initial-state radiation technique with an undetected photon. This is the first measurement of the form factor at energies higher than 4.5 GeV. The analysis is based on 469 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider at e+e - center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The branching fractions for the decays J/ψ→pp̄ and ψ(2S)→pp̄ have also been measured. © 2013 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the branching fraction of the exclusive charmless semileptonic decay B+→ωℓ+ν, where ℓ is either an electron or a muon. We use samples of B+ mesons tagged by a reconstructed charmed semileptonic decay of the other B meson in the event. The measurement is based on a data set of 426.1 fb-1 of e+e- collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e- storage rings. We measure a branching fraction of B(B+→ωℓ+ν)=(1.35±0.21±0. 11)×10-4, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We also present measurements of the partial branching fractions in three bins of q2, the invariant-mass squared of the lepton-neutrino system, and we compare them to theoretical predictions of the form factors. © 2013 American Physical Society.

The corresponding lowest-order contribution to the hadronic vacuum polarization term in the muon magnetic anomaly is found to be aμKK,LO=(22.93±0.18 stat±0.22syst)×10-10. The charged kaon form factor is extracted and compared to previous results. Abstract: We search for the decay Υ(1S)→γA0, A0→gg or ss̄, where A0 is the pseudoscalar light Higgs boson predicted by the next-to-minimal supersymmetric Standard Model. We use a sample of (17.6±0.3)×106 Υ(1S) mesons produced in the BABAR experiment via e+e -→Υ(2S)→π+π-Υ(1S). We see no significant signal and set 90%-confidence-level upper limits on the product branching fraction B(Υ(1S)→γA0)·B(A0→gg or ss̄) ranging from 10-6 to 10-2 for A0 masses in the range 0.5-9.0 GeV/c2. © 2013 American Physical Society.

Abstract: Although theory of the triple probe for Maxwellian plasma is well known, analysis with ion beams has not been established. Since plasma parameters, especially electron temperature, are distorted severely in the presence of supersonic ion beams, a new model for deducing electron temperature is introduced by solving the governing equations of the triple probe including the beam currents to three probe tips through simple assumptions. © 2006 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Abstract: We report a Dalitz plot analysis of charmless hadronic decays of charged B mesons to the final state KS0π+π0 using the full BABAR data set of 470.9±2.8 million BB events collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance. We measure the overall branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B(B+→K0π+π0)=(31.8±1.8±2.1-0.0+6.0)×10-6 and ACP(B+→K0π+π0)=0.07±0.05±0.03-0.03+0.02, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the signal model, respectively. This is the first measurement of the branching fraction for B+→K0π+π0. We find first evidence of a CP asymmetry in B+→K∗(892)+π0 decays: ACP(B+→K∗(892)+π0)=-0.52±0.14±0.04-0.02+0.04. The significance of this asymmetry, including systematic and model uncertainties, is 3.4 standard deviations. We also measure the branching fractions and CP asymmetries for three other intermediate decay modes.
