- Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are responsible for post-transcriptional gene regulation, and may function as valuable biomarkers for diseases diagnosis. Accurate and sensitive analysis of miRNAs is in great demand. Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor nanomaterials with superior optoelectronic features, such as high quantum yield and brightness, broad absorption and narrow emission, long fluorescence lifetime, and good photostability. Herein, we give a comprehensive review about QD-based biosensors for miRNA assay. Different QD-based biosensors for miRNA assay are classified by the signal types including fluorescent, electrochemical, electrochemiluminescent, and photoelectrochemical outputs.
