Bor mineralleri metalürji sanayinden otomotiv sektörüne, kompozit malzeme üretiminden nükleer sanayiye kadar birçok alanda kullanılmaktadır. Özellikle metalürji alanında malzemelerin mekanik özelliklerini iyileştirmek amaçlı kullanılmaktadır. Metalik malzemelerin yüzeylerinde kaplama malzemesi olarak kullanılması sıklıkla karşılaşılan durumlardandır. Yüzey kaplama malzemesi olarak bor yüzeye fırın içeresinde borlama ısıl işlemi ile kaplanabildiği gibi kaynaklı birleştirmelerde ilave malzeme olarak da kaplanabilmektedir. Kaynaklı yöntemlerde, TİG, MİG-MAG, Plazma transfer ark kaynak ve lazer kaynak yöntemleri örnek olarak verilebilir. Bu çalışmada AISI 304 paslanmaz çelik mil malzeme üzerine Bor Karbür ve Bor Oksit tozu 3 farklı akım değerlerinde kaplanmıştır. Sinerjik pulse MİG kaynak yöntemi ile 60 mm uzunluğunda, 8 mm çapında paslanmaz çelik millerine 2 mm derinliğinde ve 7 mm çapında boşluklar açılmıştır. Tepe noktalarına açılan bu boşluklara bu tozlar eklenerek kaynaklı işlem gerçekleştirilmiştir. Açılan boşluklardan tozların uçmasını önlemek amacıyla tozlar saf alkolle macun kıvamına getirilip sürülmüştür. Tozlar ilave edildikten sonra mil üstlerine normal, tek ve double pulse olmak üzere kaynak işlemi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Kaynak işlemi sonucunda optik mikroskopla görüntüler çekilmiştir. Numunelere optik inceleme sonrasında mikro sertlik ölçümü işlemi uygulanmıştır. Kaplama ara yüzü incelemeleri neticesinde, kaynak dikişi ile paslanmaz mil malzemenin metalürjik olarak bağlandığı ve kaynak dikişinde dentritik yapılar olduğu görülmüştür. Kaynak dikişi mikro sertlikleri incelendiğinde double pulse akım ile yapılan kaplamanın, normal akım ve pulse akım ile yapılanlara göre daha sert olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Boron minerals and their constituents are used in many fields from metallurgical industry to automotive industry, from composite material production to nuclear industry. Boron and boron minerals are especially used in the field of metallurgy to improve the mechanical properties of materials. For example, the use of metallic materials as a coating material on the surfaces is often encountered. Boron surface as surface coating material can be coated with boron heat treatment inside the furnace as well as additional material in welded joints. In welding methods, TIG, MIG-MAG, plasma transfer arc welding and laser welding methods can be given as examples. In this study, Boron Carbide and Boron Oxıde powder is coated on three different flow values on AISI 304 stainless steel shaft material. With the synergic pulse MIG welding method, the holes of 60 mm distance, 8 mm diameter stainless steel rod were drilled in 2 mm depth and 7 mm diameter. B4C and B2O3 powder was added to these cavities opening to the peaks and the welded process was carried out. In order to prevent the B4C and B2O3 dust from flying into the cavities opened, it was put into a paste with pure alcohol and applied. After the addition of powder, welding was performed on the shaft tops as normal, single and double pulse. Because of the welding process, optical microscope images were taken. Micro hardness measurement was applied to the samples after optical examination. As a result of the examination of the coating interface, it was seen that the welded seam and stainless shaft material were metallurgical bonded and the welded seam was dendritic structures. When welding micro stiffness was examined, it was determined that the coating with double pulse current was harder than the ones with normal current and pulse current.

Bilim ve teknoloji alanında ortaya çıkan buluşların birçoğu doğadan esinlenerek gerçekleştirilmektedir. Günümüzde biyomimetik olarak isimlendirilen bu kavram mevcut teknolojilerin daha ileri taşınmasında önemli rol oynamaktadır. Biyomimetik uygulama alanları, makine, malzeme, yazılım ve algoritmalar, bina ve yapılar şeklinde sınıflandırılmakla birlikte bu alanlar günden güne genişlemeye devam etmektedir. Bu çalışmada kümes hayvanlarının taşlık kısmının temizlenmesinde kullanılan bıçakların tasarımı ve iyileştirilmesi için biyomimetikten faydalanılmıştır. Taşlık olarak isimlendirilen kısımların içerisinde taş cıvata, metal parçaları, plastik vb. birçok yabancı madde ile karşılaşılmaktadır. Bu maddeler taşlığın kesilerek açılmasında kullanılan bıçağın çok çabuk körelmesine neden olmakta ve sökme, bileme ve yeniden takma sırasında önemli zaman kayıpları yaşanmaktadır. Bu kayıpların azaltılarak katma değere dönüştürülmesini sağlamak için tasarım değişiklikleri yapılmıştır. Yenilikçi biyonik bıçak yüzeyi arılardan esinlenerek bal peteği görünümündeki kalıpta şekillendirilmiş ve mevcut bıçağın %70 daha az kalınlığında malzeme kullanılmıştır. Biyonik bıçağın üretimi için tasarlanan kalıpta ağız açıları içinde özel bir yapı düşünülmüştür. Böylelikle bıçağın çalışma esnasında kendi kendini bilemesi sağlanmıştır. Mevcut bıçağın 3 saatte bir bilenmesi gerekirken, geliştirilen biyonik bıçak vardiya boyunca bileme gerektirmeden kullanılabilmektedir. Bununla birlikte üretim sürecinde, ısıl işlem gerektirmemesi, daha az malzeme (mevcut modelin %70 daha az kalınlığında) kullanılması üretim maliyetlerini %40 oranında azaltmaktadır. Ayrıca bekleme ile zaman kaybedilmediğinden günlük üretim miktarı %5-7 oranında artış göstermektedir. Üniversite-Sanayi işbirliği ile elde edilen bu sonuç, günlük yaklaşık 200 000 adet kesimin yapıldığı bir sektörde firmaların rekabet gücünü ve karlılığını önemli ölçüde arttıracaktır. Most of the inventions in the field of science and technology have been found by inspiration. Nowadays, this term named as Biomimetic has played an important role in improving the current technologies. fields of biomimetic are categorized like machine, material, software and algorithm, building and construction. Besides, these fields have been improving day by day. In this study, biomimetic was used in order for design and development of the knifes that was used during cleaning the gizzards of the fowl. Many unfamiliar substance such as stone, screw, metal pieces, plastic, etc., are seen in the parts named as gizzard. These substances cause the fact that the knife that is used to cut the gizzard get rusty, and it also causes waste of time during removing, sharpening, and putting it back. Some changes in design was made so as to turn the waste of time into added value. The surface of the futuristic bionic knife was shaped in honeycomb by being inspired by bees, and %70 less substance is used. In order for production of the knife, a special structure for angle of the nozzle is thought. Thus, it enables the knife to sharpen itself during cutting. While current knife has to be sharpened once in every 3 hour, bionic knife can be used during the shift without needing to sharpen. Besides, during production, the fact that it does not need heat treatment and that less substance is used decreases the cost of production by %40. Furthermore, because it does not cause waste of time, amount of daily production increases by %5-7. This outcome that is achieved through the collaboration between university and industry will significantly increase the competitive power and profitability of firms in a sector where approximately 200 000 slaughters are made.

06.03.2018 tarih ve 30352 sayılı Resmi gazetede yayımlanan “Yükseköğretim Kanunu İle Bazı Kanun Ve Kanun Hükmünde Kararnamelerde Değişiklik Yapılması Hakkında Kanun” ile 18.06.2018 tarihli “Lisansüstü Tezlerin Elektronik Ortamda Toplanması, Düzenlenmesi ve Erişime Açılmasına İlişkin Yönerge” gereğince tam metin erişime açılmıştır. Yapılmış olan bu çalışmada 316L paslanmaz çeliğinin yüzeyine APS (Atmosferik Plazma Sprey) yöntemi ile molibden (Mo), zirkonyum oksit (ZrO2) ve nikel krom alüminyum itriyum (NiCrAlY) alaşımı ile kaplanmış olunup, kaplama işleminden sonra malzemelerin soğuk aşınma testlerine tabii tutulmuş ve yapılan deneyler sonucunda aşağıdaki sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. APS (Atmosferik Plazma Sprey) yöntemi ile 316L paslanmaz çeliğinin yüzeyi molibden (Mo), zirkonyum oksit (ZrO2) ve nikel krom alüminyum itriyum (NiCrAlY) alaşımı ile başarılı bir şekilde farklı kalınlıklarda 200 μm ve 300 μm ‘da kaplanmıştır. Soğuk aşınma deneylerinden önce numunelerin mikro yapısal özellikleri incelenerek yüzey pürüzlülüğü, porozite, sertlik değerlerine bakılarak bilgi edinilmiştir. Yapılmış olan soğuk aşınma deneyleri neticesinde malzemenin yüzeylerinde bir takım deformasyonlar meydana geldiği gözlenmiştir. Bu deneyler neticesinde elde edilmiş bulgular literatürde yapılmış olan diğer çalışmalar ile değerlendirilmiştir. In this study it is made on the surface of 316L stainless steel with the method APS (Atmospheric Plasma Spray),was coated molybdenum (Mo), zirconium oxide (ZrO2) and nickel chromium aluminum itriny alloy (NiCrAlY) happen, after coating, the materials were to subjected cold wear test and the following result were obtained through experiments performed. By APS (Atmospheric Plasma Spray) method 316L stainless steel surface was coated with successfully different thickness 200 μm and 300 μm zirconium oxide (ZrO2), molybdenum (Mo) and nickel chromium aluminum itriny alloy (NiCrAlY) Before the cold wear tests, microstructural properties of the samples were examined and the information was obtained by looking at surface roughness, porosity, hardness values. Some deformations in the surface material has because of cold wear test been observed. The finding who were obtained in these experiments, and were evaluated with other studies in the literature.

Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2013, Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2013, Çinko ve nikel kaplamalı malzemelerin korozyon davranışı ile ilgili bilgi sahibi olmak için kullanılan yöntemler oldukça uzun süreler gerektirmekte ve objektif veriler elde edilememektedir. Elektrokimyasal Empedans Spektroskopisi (EIS) yöntemi, korozyonu sayısallaştırarak mevcut yöntemlerden farklı olarak test sonuçlarının objektif bir şekilde değerlendirilebilmesine olanak sağlamaktadır. Ayrıca farklı çalışma ortamlarında ve farklı geometriye sahip parçalarda da kaplama performansı test edilebilmektedir. Bu tez çalışması kapsamında, yaklaşık 25 cm2 boyutlarında DC03 kalite düşük karbonlu çelik plakalar üzerine farklı kaplama sürelerinde elektrolitik çinko ve nikel kaplamalar yapılarak, bunların tuzlu su sisi testi ile polarizasyon dirençleri arasında bir ilişki kurulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, kaplama firmalarından çinko ve nikel kaplamalar için elektrolitik kaplama öncesi kullanılan temizleme çözeltileri ve proses banyoları temin edilmiş, laboratuvar ortamında bu proses banyoları kullanılarak çelik plakalar üzerine farklı kalınlıklarda çinko ve nikel kaplamalar gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlk seri kaplamaların kalınlıkları Fischerscope XDL kalınlık ölçüm cihazı kullanılarak tahribatsız olarak ölçülmüştür. İkinci seri kaplamalarda ise mevcut kaplama kalınlıkları, numuneden kesit alınıp optik mikroskopta incelenerek tespit edilmiştir. Tuzlu su sisi testleri ASTM B117 standardına uygun olarak Weiss SC450 kabin kullanılarak yapılmıştır. I.seri plakalarda yapılan tuzlu su sisi testlerinde numuneler 30dk aralıklarla korozyon açısından kontrol edilmiştir. II.seri plakalarda korozyon verisini sayısallaştırmak amacıyla şablonlar oluşturulmuş, çinko kaplamalı plakalar için beyaz pas görülen kare adedi ile nikel kaplamalar için birim alandaki oyuk miktarı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Çinko kaplamalı vidalar için kaplamanın en ince bölgesinin tayini için kullanılan bakır sülfat testi yapılarak korozyon dayanımı hakkında öngörülerde bulunulmuş ve bu doğrultuda EIS testleri ile doğrulanması amaçlanmıştır. Nikel kaplamalı plakalarda ve taban malzemede yüzey pürüzlülüğü ölçülmüş, kaplama kalınlığı ve polarizasyon direnci ile ilişkilendirilmiştir. Nikel kaplamalı vidalar için porozitenin tayinine yönelik modifiye sıcak su testi yapılmış, testten geçen ve kalan vidalara test öncesi ve sonrası EIS testi yapılarak, porozite tayini ile korozyon ömrü arasında ilişki kurulmaya çalışılmıştır. EIS testi atmosfere açık ortamda ve oda sıcaklığında olacak şekilde %3,5 NaCl çözeltisi içerisinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma sonunda, çinko kaplanmış plakaların tuzlu su sisi testinde görülen hata miktarı ile polarizasyon dirençleri arasında ömür tayinine yönelik ilişki kurulabilmiştir. EIS testi ile mevcut korozyon testlerinin korelasyonu yapılarak ikinci aşama olan çinko kaplamalı vidalar için kaplama kalınlığı hakkında bilgi vermekte olan testler uygulanmıştır. Bu testlerden geçen ve kalan vidalar için EIS testleri uygulanarak bakır sülfat testinin çinko kaplamalı vidalarda hızlı bir ön değerlendirme olarak kullanılabileceği görülmüştür. Nikel kaplanmış plakalarda 6 saatlik test süresinin literatürde de karşılaşıldığı üzere kaplama üzerinde pasif film oluşmasından dolayı yetersiz kaldığı görülmüş, bundan dolayı test süresinin 30 saate kadar uzatılması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Yüzey pürüzlülüğünün nikel kaplamalar için korozyon ömrü bakımından çok etkili bir parametre olduğu görülmüş, kaplama kalınlığı ile açıklanamayan polarizasyon direnci değişimlerinde yüzey pürüzlülüğünün etkili olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Nikel kaplamalı vidalarla gerçekleştirilen modifiye sıcak su testi ile EIS ölçümleri sonucunda porozitenin korozyon ömrüne etkisi görülmüştür. Her iki kaplama için de banyo çözeltisindeki metal miktarının kaplamanın kalınlığına olan etkisi, banyo çözeltisine çinko veya nikel takviyesi yapılmasından önce ve sonra alınan banyo çözeltileriyle yapılmış olan kaplamalar aracılığıyla anlaşılmıştır., The use of metal has increased day by day and at the same time the loss of materials and manpower caused by metal corrosion has reached serious proportions. The metallic coating was applied to solve this problem because of its easy practice and success in improvement the service life. Metallic coatings became an important and necessary method to improve surface properties of the base metals, which exhibit limited corrosion, wear and oxidation resistances. Zinc and nickel coatings are used succesfully for many years for protection of ferrous alloys against corrosion attack. In addition to the coatings, the passivation process draw the attention for a decorative appearance, while providing enhancement in the corrosion resistance. There are limited number of studies about the prediction of service life of protective coatings. In these studies, EIS measurements have performed in different operating environments in order to determinate the lifetime of the coatings’ and to establish a relationship between the other corrosion test results. Studies in this area showed that when the polarization resistance of coatings drop below 107 , the corrosion resistance severely damaged. Hence, in this thesis the relationship between polarization resistance values obtained from EIS measurements and salt spray test values were correlated. Generation of defects in salt spray test was accompanied by a reduction in polarization resistance. The methods for determination of corrosion behavior of the zinc and nickel coated materials need very long time periods and may not present an objective data. In contrast to the existing methods, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) method allows the evaluation of test results objectively by digitizing progress. In addition, components that have different geometry can be tested in different operating environments. In this thesis,electrolytic zinc and nickel coatings applied on DC 03 quality low-carbon steel sheets in different coating times and tried to establish a relationship between their salt spray test and the polarization resistance. The cleaning solutions that are used before electroplating process were also obtain from the relevant industrial companies. Zinc coating was performed for 13,5 and 15 min. Nickel coating was performed for 8, 10, 13, 15 and 18 min after 1-min copper plating. The thickness of the coatings were measured by Fischerscope XDL thickness measurind device and optical microscope. Electrolytic bath solutions were obtained from the relevant coating companies. Since the zinc and/or nickel contents of the electrolytes were reduced as they have been used in the coating operations, metal ion concentrations of the electrolytes were adjusted at certain intervals by adding zinc and/or nickel. Therefore in the present study with or without addition of these metals were utilized in order to analyze the effect of metal ion concentration of the electrolytes. EIS test was applied according to the principle of three-electrodes. The saturated calomel electrode was used as the reference electrode, the graphite rod was used as the counter electrode and plates coated with zinc or nickel were used as the anode. Working life of coatings without progress of corrosion correlated with estimated porosity. EIS test was performed at room temperature in 3,5% NaCl solution. EIS measurements were performed by using the Voltmaster 4 program with the Voltalab 40 PGZ 301 device. Measurements were performed at the frequency range of 100kHz-10mHz and the EIS graphics were obtained in the Bode form. Salt spray tests were made by using Weiss SC450 cabin in accordance with ASTM B117 standard. In order to quantify the performances of coatings, coating surfaces paterned in forty squares.The number of white rust frame was evaluated for zinc-coated plates and amount of pit was counted for nickel -coated plates. The ratio of the defects generated in salt spray test on the zinc coatings were correlated with the polarization resistance to estimate working life. Number of defects in salt spray test have been identified in response to a significant decrease in the value of polarization resistance. The copper sulfate test were conducted to correlate the results with EIS tests used to find the thinnest spot of the zinc coating screws. The copper sulfate solution was prepared by dissolving approximately 36 parts of commercial cupric sulfate crystals (CuSO4.5H2O) by weight in 100 parts of distilled water. The prepared solution then heated to add 0.8 g/L cupric oxide (CuO). Specimens were immersed in the copper sulfate solution which maintained at a temperature of 16 to 20˚C. Specimens were remained in a fixed position in the solution for exactly 1 min. After each 1-min immersion, specimens were washed in the rinse water to remove any copper deposit that might be present on zinc coatings. This process was repeated until the end point has been reached. Modified hot water test applied to the nickel-coated screws to determine the porosities present in the coatings. The screws immersed in 90˚C salty distilled water (~ 0.5 % NaCl solution) for two hours. Two-hours test period started when the water temperature was reached the temperature at 90˚C. At the end of the test period, screws was removed from the hot water and was dried with the air. EIS test applied to screws after the hot water test. Following results were obtained from the experiments conducted in the present study. • In order to make correlation between salty water and impedance test results for corrosion life of coatings, the results of the corrosion test should be quantified. In this respect, present study showed that number of white rust per unit area and number of pits per unit area should be considered for zinc and nickel coatings respectively. • The EIS test conducted immidiately after immersing the sample in solution did not give sufficient information about corrosion resistance of the coatings. Therefore EIS graphics should be obtained after holding the samples in the solutions for certain time period. • For the zinc-coated plates increase in number of defects after salt spray tests accompanied by a reduction in polarization resistance. These results indicated that a correlation can be established between salt spray and EIS tests for corrosion life of zinc coatings. • For the nickel coated plates, holding time in salty water shorter time 5-hour leaded corrosion, whose progress was not identified clearly by EIS tests. In the literature it has been reported that corrosion resistance of nickel coatings were poor at the beginning of the tests and tended to increase with holding time especially after 30 min to 4 hours. Longer holding times companied by a reduction in corrosion resistance. Since similar results have been obtained in the present study, the correlation between EIS and salt spray test have been made after holding the samples in salty water for 30 hours. • If EIS tests for nickel-coated plates continue until the breaking point of polarization resistance, the effect of the passive layer on the coating can be avoided. Polarization resistance may provide information about the corrosion mechanism of the samples with complex geometry, other than flat plates. Determined by the polarization resistance value will be accepted and with movement of the polarization resistance at time zero, corrosion life or the sample can be determined. • For the nickel coated plates, the increase of copper flash and nickel thickness cause increase of polarization resistance. Higher surface roghness values leaded reduction of polarization resistance. • EIS tests which conducted on the zinc-coated screws, after copper sulfate test, revealed the limit value of polarization resistance. Zinc-coated samples should exhibit polarization resistance value higher than 4,2 E8 Ω for required corrosion performance. If the number of EIS tests of zinc-coated screws increase at time zero, a database can be prepared. The database of polarization resistance values may give information about coatings’ life prediction. • Modified hot water test has been developed for pass/fail criteria of nickel coated screws. The limit polarization resistance has been determined as 4,5 E8 Ω for nickel-coated samples. • With increasing the number of tests (modified hot water tests for nickel coatings and copper sulphate tests for zinc coatings) of screws by comparing with EIS test results may provide more information about the complex geometry brought dispersion., Yüksek Lisans, M.Sc.

İmalat sektöründe kullanılan malzemelerin işlenebilirlik özelliklerinin, iyileştirilmesi sürekli araştırma konusu olmuştur. Korozyon direnci, süneklilik ve çekme mukavemetinin yüksek olması paslanmaz çeliklerin sahip oldukları temel özelliklerdendir ve bu malzemelerin içerdiği krom, nikel ve molibden gibi alaşım elementleri, işlenebilirliklerini olumsuz olarak etkilemektedir. Paslanmaz çelikler işlenmesi zor malzemeler sınıfına girmektedir. Bu çalışmada AISI 304 paslanmaz çeliklerin frezelenmesinde farklı takımlar kullanılarak işlenebilirlilikleri ve takım performansları incelenmiştir. Kesme parametrelerinin etkisinde takım ömrü, yüzey pürüzlülüğü ve kesme kuvvetleri deneysel olarak belirlenmiş ve paslanmaz çeliklerin işlenmesinde optimum kesme koşullarının belirlenmesi, adaptif kontrol ve takım durumunun izlenmesi çalışmalarına temel teşkil etmek üzere tahmin modelleri tayin edilmiştir., Improving of machinability properties of the materials which are used in manufacturing industry has been research issue. High corrosion resistance, ductility and tension strength are the essential properties of stainless steels. Stainless steels contain alloy elements such as crom, nickel and molibden which are affect their machinability negatively. For this reason the machining of stainless steels are very difficult. In this study we investigate the machinability of AISI 304 stainless steel using different cutting tools and performance of the used tools. Tool life, surface roughness and cutting forces have been determined experimentally and performed prediction models to constitute the base of determination of optimum cutting conditions, adaptive controls and tool condition monitoring studies.

ÖZETPASLANMAZ ÇELİK ÜZERİNE BİRİKTİRİLMİŞ SERT SERAMİK KAPLAMALARIN (TiN, CrN) KOROZYONUEndüstrideki uygulamalar sırasında, sert seramik kaplamalar korozif ortamlarda çalışmak ve gerekli tribolojik performansı sağlayacak kadar korozyon direnci seviyesine sahip olmak zorunlardırlar. Tuzlu ortam, hatırısayılır miktarda korozif çevreye sahip bir ortam olarak bilinmektedir. NaCl iyonları olarak bilinen tuz, deniz, nehir ve göl gibi yerlerde fazla miktarlarda bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, taramalı elektron mikroskobu (SEM) kullanılarak, TiN, CrN şeklinde biriktirilen ince kaplamaların ve altlık malzemesi olarak 4021 ile 4034 grubu paslanmaz çelik altlık malzemelerin karakterizasyonu yapıldı. Aynı zamanda kaplamanın kesiti de incelendi. Öte yandan, her bir kaplama ve altlık malzemeler için elektrokimyasal impedans ölçümleri, polarizasyon direnci ve korozyon potansiyeli ölçümleri korozyon mekanizmalarını tespit etmek için gerçekleştirildi. Bu incelemeler sırasında, kaplamaların korozyon davranışlarının tespitinde değişken parametre olarak, yüzde azot miktarı (%N), altlık malzemelere yapılan ısıl işlemin kaplama özelliklerine etkisi, yüzeye uygulanan elektropolisaj işleminin ve zımparalama işlemlerinin etkileri, TiN ve CrN kaplamaların birbirine karşı özellikleri, altlık malzemenin değişik olmasının kaplama özelliklerine etkileri belirlenmiştir. Aynı zamanda bu çalışmada, oyuklanma korozyonu oluşumu da gözlemlenmiştir. Yapılan incelemeler sonucunda, elektropolisaj işlemi yapılmış olan 4034 SS malzemenin korozyon davranışının aynı yüzey işlemi uygulanmış olan 4021 SS malzemeye göre daha iyi olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Yine elektropolisaj işlemi yapılmış 4034 SS malzemenin 800 mesh zımparalama işlemine tabi tutulmuş 4034 SS malzemeye göre korozyon direncinin daha iyi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Buradan yola çıkarak yüzey işleminin korozyon özelliklerine etkisinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Elektropolisaj işleminin korozyon direncini artıran bir yüzey işlemi olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. CrN kaplamanın TiN kaplamaya göre daha iyi korozyon direncine sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Yüzey işleminin kaplama yapılmadan önce önemli olduğu her iki kaplama içinde gözlemlenmiştir ve elektropolisaj işleminin kaplamanın özelliklerini geliştirdiği tespit edilmiştir. Yüzde azot oranının azalmasının, korozyon hızını azaltırken, öte yandan da korozyon direncini artırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Altlık malzemelere yapılan ısıl işlemin kaplamanın korozyon özelliklerini geliştirdiği tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan makroskobik incelemeler sonucunda ise, numunenin geometrik şeklinin önemi gözlemlenmiş olup, korozyonun genellikle, kaplama yüzeyinde var olan çatlaklarda, boşluklarda, bulunduğu bölgeye göre daha az yüksekliğe sahip bölgelerde meydana geldiği gözlemlenmiştir.ABSTRACTCORROSION OF HARD CERAMIC (TiN, CrN) COATINGS DEPOSITED ON STAINLESS STEEL In industry, hard coatings must work in corrosive environments and possess sufficient degree of resistance to corrosion to provide the required tribological performance. The salty environment is the most offend accounted among corrosion environments. Certain amount of salt known as NaCl ions are presented in atmosphere, seas (3% NaCl), lakes and rivers.In this thesis, it is investigated characterizing the microstructures of the substrate materials (4021 SS, 4034 SS) and thin films (formed by TiN, CrN) by using Scanning electron microscope (SEM) were conducted on cross-section surface of the coated materials, describing the corrosion mechanisms of the TiN or CrN coated 4021 and 4034 stainless steel by using electrochemical techniques (Tafel method, polarization resistance method and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)) and measuring the coating thickness and hardness values for each coating. On the other hand, the aim of this thesis is to compare 4021 SS, 4034 SS, TiN coated 4021 SS, TiN coated 4034 SS, CrN coated 4021 SS and CrN coated 4034 SS according to their corrosion behavior, to analyze the effect of the coating pressure (correlating to nitrogen percentage) for each thin film, to investigate the pitting formation. It is found that corrosion behavior of the electropolished 4034 stainless steel is better than the electropolished 4021 stainless steel, the effect of surface treatment is important for analyzing the corrosion behavior of the stainless steels. Electropolishing process improves the corrosion resistance of the stainless steels. Coating type affects the corrosion behavior of stainless steels. CrN coatings mostly improve the best corrosion resistance for each substrates. The surface roughness is important before coating process and Electropolishing process is better than polishing treatments. When Nitrogen content (% wt) is decreasing, either the corrosion rate is decreasing and the corrosion resistance is increasing for each coatings. There is an heat treatment before coating process for the stainless steel substrates, the corrosion behavior is better than unheat treated substrated for the coatings. Macroscopic observations represented that the shape of the sample is important as corrosion occurs. The corrosion generally happens on pinholes, surface cracks, crevices and face to auxiliary electrode side.

TIG KAYNAK YÖNTEMİYLE BİRLEŞTİRİLEN ÖSTENİTİK PASLANMAZ ÇELİKLERİN MİKROYAPI VE MEKANİK ÖZELLİKLERİNİN İNCELENMESİGünümüzde endüstrinin en önemli sorunlarından birisi, malzemelerin farklı ortamlarda korozyona uğramalarıdır. Demir esaslı malzemeler arasında paslanmaz çelikler son 25 yılda kullanımı hızla yaygınlaşan çok önemli bir malzeme gurubudur. Paslanmaz çeliklerin mükemmel korozyon dayanımları, düşük ve yüksek sıcaklıklarda kullanılabilir olmaları kolay şekillendirilebilmeleri ve estetik görünümleri bu malzemeye geniş bir kullanım amacı açmaktadır.TIG Kaynak yöntemi ülkemizde giderek artan bir kullanım alanına sahiptir. Bu yöntemde erimeyen bir Tungsten elektrot ile iş parçası arasında ark oluşturulmakta ve ark bölgesi lüleden gönderilen asal gaz tarafından korunmaktadır. Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2003, Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2003, Bu çalışmada, farklı kalitedeki (316, 22-13-5, 316L, 304L, 304E, PH 17-4) paslanmaz çeliklerin kuru ve korozif ortamlardaki aşınma davranışları incelenmiştir. Aşınma deneyi, salınım hareketi yapan karşı yüklemeli (reciprocating) aşınma cihazında karşı malzeme olarak alumina bilya kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Korozif ortam olarak Deniz Suyu, %50 ve %90 konsantrasyonlarda sülfürik asit(H2SO4) ve % 10 konsantrasyonda FeCl3 (Demir Klorür) kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca, % 10 konsantrasyonundaki FeCl3 çözeltisinde korozyon deneyi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Farklı ortamlarda gerçekleştirilen aşınma deneyleri sonucunda; paslanmaz çeliklerin kullanılan ortamlara karşı olan aşınma dirençleri belirlenmiştir. Aşınma direnci üzerine krom ve nikel gibi alaşım elementlerinin etkileri incelenmiş olup, bu alaşım elementlerinin aşınma direncini olumlu yönde etkilediği sonucuna varılmıştır. Ancak Demir Klorür çözeltisinde gerçekleştirilen aşınma deneylerinde ise özellikle bileşimde bulunan kromun paslanmaz çeliklerin aşınma direncini olumsuz yönde etkiledikleri tespit edilmiştir. %10 konsantrasyondaki FeCl3 çözeltisinde gerçekleştirilen korozyon deneyi sonucunda; paslanmaz çeliklerin korozyon direnci artan krom içeriğine bağlı olarak artmaktadır., In this study we aimed to examine the tribological performance of various stainless steels (316, 22-13-5, 316L, 304L, 304E, PH 17-4) in dry and various corrosive media (sea water, 50% and 90% sulfuric acid and ferric chloride) by utilizing a reciprocating wear tester using alumina ball as counterface. Also, a corrosion test was done in ferric cloride. Wear resistance of the investigated stainless steels were determined for different corrosive media to evaluate the relationship between the wear resistance and the composition mainly for nickel and chromium. Finally it is concluded that, chromium improved the wear resistance of stainless steels in sea water and sulfuric acid. However, in ferric chloride solution wear resistance of stainless steels decreased with increasing their chromium content. Also, with increasing the chromium and nickel content, corrosion resistance of investigated stainless steels improved., Yüksek Lisans, M.Sc.
