Methotrexate (MTX), a widely administered medication for treating an array of tumors and autoimmune disorders, necessitates stringent monitoring due to the potential for severe adverse effects associated with its high dosage. Nevertheless, the existing methods for monitoring MTX are often intricate, time-consuming and incur significant costs. In this work, we constructed a controlled release sensor, harnessing the versatility of a personal glucose meter (PGM), which had been devised for the swift detection of MTX. This innovative approach employed HP-UiO-66-NH 2 as a nanoscale reservoir for glucose encapsulation, with aptamer-conjugated gold nanoparticles (AuNPs@Apt) serving as molecular gates, sealing the pores of the nano-container. Upon the introduction of MTX into the solution, a specific recognition event occurred between the aptamer and MTX, leading to the formation of a stable AuNPs@Apt-MTX complex. This interaction triggered the release of AuNPs@Apt from the surface of HP-UiO-66-NH 2 , allowing glucose to escape, which was then detected by the PGM. This method demonstrated a robust linear response to MTX concentrations spanning from 0.1 μM to 20 μM, with a remarkable detection limit of 0.1 μM. Extensive experiments underscored the platform's exceptional selectivity for MTX detection, coupled with excellent reproducibility and stability, with a detection time of only 30 minutes. Importantly, it had been successfully applied to the analysis of MTX in diluted human serum with satisfactory recoveries. Given its portability and cost-effectiveness, this platform paved a novel avenue for monitoring MTX blood drug levels, offering significant potential for clinical applications and drug monitoring strategies.

Quantitative microRNA (miRNA) detection is crucial for early breast cancer diagnosis and prognosis. However, quick and stable fluorescence sensing for miRNA identification is still challenging. This work developed a novel label-free detection method based on AuNPs etching for quantitatively detecting miRNA-155. A layer of AuNPs was grown on the surface of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) loaded with Rhodamine 6G (R6G) using seed-mediated growth, followed by probe attachment. In the presence of miRNA-155, the MSN@R6G@AuNP surface loses the protection of the attached probe, rendering AuNPs susceptible to etching by hydrochloric acid. This results in a significant fluorescent signal being released in the free space. The encapsulation with AuNPs effectively reduces signal leakage, while the rapid etching process shortens detection time. This strategy enables sensitive and fast detection with a detection range of 100 fM to 100 nM, a detection limit of 2.18 fM, and a detection time of 30 min. The recovery rate in normal human serum ranges from 99.02 % to 106.34 %. Gas mixtures are comprised of numerous complex components, making the accurate identification a continuing challenge due to the significant limitations of existing detection methods. Herein, we developed a low-cost and sensitive pattern-based colorimetric sensor array chip for the identification of typical gas mixtures - Baijiu aroma. Specifically, three nanomaterials (AuNPs, MoS 2 and ZIF-8) were prepared to adsorb gas molecules and enhance the reaction of trace gases with sensor arrays. The colorimetric sensor array chip took only 5 min to complete the recognition of Baijiu aromas and effectively avoided recognition errors caused by sommelier olfactory fatigue. Notably, the hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) revealed no confusion or errors in the results of 80 tests across the five trials involving 16 commercial Baijius. Herein, we made 3D MXene-AuNPs by in situ growth of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on the surface of MXene by chemical reduction method, and then introduced three sulfhydryl (-SH) compounds as functionalized modifiers attached to the AuNPs to form a highly selective composite material for the detection of Pb 2+ , Cu 2+ , and Hg 2+ , respectively. The doping of AuNPs changes the microstructure of 2D MXene and generates more active sites. On a sensing platform based on ITO array electrodes, the detection system was optimised with sensitivities up to 1.157, 0.846 and 0.799 μA·μg -1 Lcm -2 (Pb 2+ , Cu 2+ , and Hg 2+ ). The selectivity of MXene@AuNPs was effectively improved by sulfhydryl group modification. In the range of 1-1300 μg L -1 , the detection limits of three ions were 0.07, 0.13 and 0.21 μg L -1 . Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), as a next-generation tumor marker, enables early screening and monitoring of cancer through noninvasive testing. Exploring the development of new methods for ctDNA detection is an intriguing study. In this work, a unique electrochemical biosensor for the ctDNA detector was constructed in the first utilizing Fe single-atom nanozymes-carbon dots (SA Fe-CDs) as a signaling carrier in collaboration with a DNA walker cascade amplification strategy triggered by nucleic acid exonuclease III (Exo III). The electrochemical active surface area of AuNPs/rGO modified onto a glassy carbon electrode (AuNPs/rGO/GCE) was about 1.43 times that of a bare electrode (bare GCE), with good electrical conductivity alongside a high heterogeneous electron transfer rate (5.81 × 10 -3 cm s -1 ), that is, as well as the ability to load more molecules. Sequentially, the DNA walker cascade amplification strategy driven by Exo III effectively converted the target ctDNA into an amplified biosignal, ensuring the sensitivity and specificity of ctDNA. Ultimately, the electrochemical signal was further amplified by introducing SA Fe-CDs nanozymes, which could serve as catalysts for 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) oxidation with facile responding ( V max = 0.854 × 10 -6 M s -1 ) and robust annexation ( K m = 0.0069 mM). The integration of the triple signal amplification approach achieved detection limits as low as 1.26 aM ( S / N = 3) for a linearity spanning from 5 aM to 50 nM. In this regard, our proposal for a biosensor with exceptional assay properties in complicated serum environments had great potential for early and timely diagnosis of cancer.

In this work, we propose a blossom-like Ni, Co bimetallic metal-organic framework (NiCo-MOF) synthesized hydrothermally and decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) via chemical reduction for electrochemical enzyme-free glucose sensing. The NiCo-MOF nanostructures had large specific surface area and good sensing performance. The AgNPs enhanced the electrochemical performance of the MOF, resulting in excellent electrochemical activity. The sensor exhibited sensitivities of 1191.84 and 271.19 μA mM -1 cm -2 in the linear ranges of 0.005-1.125 and 1.525-5.325 mM, respectively, with a detection limit of 2.3 μM. The sensor was successfully applied for glucose determination in Huangshui (HS) using an artificial neural network as machine learning (ML) model. The R 2 value near 1, low RMSE, and high RPD values of the proposed ML model demonstrate its excellent fitting and prediction performance. Herein, an ultrasensitive electrochemical biosensor for microRNA-155 (miR-155) detection based on the powerful catalytic and continuous walking signal amplification capability of 3D DNAzyme walker and the gold nanoparticles/graphene aerogels carbon fiber paper-based (AuNPs/GAs/CFP) flexible sensing electrode with excellent electrochemical performance was successfully constructed. In a proof-of-concept experiment, in the presence of miR-155, the DNAzyme strands anchored on the streptavidin-modified magnetic beads (MBs) silenced by locked strands can be activated, thus generating the walking arm of the 3D DNAzyme walker. Meanwhile, the substrate strands modified with Fe-MOF-NH 2 nanoparticles were evenly distributed on the surface of MBs and served as tracks of the 3D DNAzyme walker. Once the DNAzyme strand was activated, the catalytic site in the substrate strand can be cleaved in the presence of Mn 2+ , and a large number of stumps modified with Fe-MOF-NH 2 nanoparticles (output@Fe-MOF-NH 2 ) will be generated during the continuous and efficient walking cleavage of the DNAzyme walker, driving the recognition-catalysis-release cycle process for signal amplification. Immediately afterwards, the signal was read out through the base complementary pairing of capture probe (PS) immobilized on the surface of the paper-based flexible sensing electrode AuNPs/GAs/CFP and signal probes output@Fe-MOF-NH 2 , thus achieving the quantitative detection of miR-155. Under optimal experimental conditions, the designed 3D DNAzyme walker-based biosensor exhibited a relatively lower limit of detection (LOD) of 56.23 aM, with a linear range of 100 aM to 100 nM. Protozoa are sensitive indicators of pollutant toxicity. This review presents and discusses the toxicological studies of protozoa and the toxicological conventional test species (Daphnia magna) by pesticides and nanomaterials, particularly comparing the sensitivity of through relative tolerance analysis, Z-score, and species sensitivity index. The sensitivity of different species of protozoa varies greatly. The protozoa Paramecium sp. and Tetrahymena sp. are not sensitive species; conversely, Urostyla sp. is sensitive to dimethoate and nanomaterials Ag-NPs, respectively ZnO-NPs, and CuO-NPs, fits the use as an indicator species on these substances. The prospects to explore scientific toxicity exposure protocols, expand the protozoan species examined, and screen the sensitive species under the protocols are discussed. Quickly discriminating different segmented Baijiu can directly control its grade and indirectly affect the quality of the finished Baijiu. A fluorescence sensor array was constructed based on PEI-terminated silver nanoparticles and lanthanide metal ions (PEI@Ag NPs@Ln). Ag NPs were stably dispersed in the PEI-woven network, initially accompanied by excellent fluorescence signals. Organic molecules disrupted the PEI structure and dragged the Ag NPs out. The free Ag NPs sintered or aggregated with the diffusion, resulting in fluorescence quenching. The three lanthanide ions speed up the process, allowing different organic molecules to exhibit more distinct signals. Thus, this sensor was used to map 11 organic molecules' fingerprints and to discriminate segmented Baijiu. The whole process takes only 2 min. With the assistance of pattern recognition, segmented Baijiu from three cellars were successfully discriminated. In this study, an efficient and simple colorimetric method for sensing of Cu 2+ was established using inhibition effect of Cu 2+ to the etching reaction of silver nanocubes (AgNCs) induced by H 2 O 2 . The etching reaction of AgNCs changes its morphology and absorbance with the visual appearance from yellow to colorless. On the contrary, the presence of Cu 2+ can significantly inhibit the etching progress. Thus Cu 2+ induces the obvious absorbance enhancement compared with AgNCs/H 2 O 2 system. This design realizes colorimetric detection of Cu 2+ based on the inhibition effect of etching reaction using AgNCs nanoprobe. The colorimetric response of AgNCs nanoprobe in ΔAbs 417.5 shows the linearity with the increasing concentrations of Cu 2+ from 0.01 to 40 μM with good selectivity. The concentration limit of Cu 2+ efficaciously discriminated by the naked eye is as low as 0.01 μM. Furthermore, the Euclidean distance (ED) of the difference map in RGB change before and after response with Cu 2+ is applied for further visualization recognition of Cu 2+ . Herein, a gold nanoparticles/graphene aerogels (AuNPs/GAs) modified electrochemical biosensor with catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) and Y-shaped DNA nanostructure dual-signal amplification approaches for ultrasensitive microRNA-21 (miR-21) detection was successfully constructed, which displayed an ultra-wide detection linear range from 5 fM to 50 nM, as well as a relatively low detection limit (LOD) of 14.70 aM (S/N = 3). Furthermore, the sensing strategy had excellent specificity among highly homologous miRNA family members and exhibited satisfactory analytical performance for miRNA detection.

An ultrasensitive electrochemical biosensor was designed for the rapid label-free detection of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA, EGFR 19 Dels for non-small cell lung cancer, NSCLC). We linked the highly conjugated tricatecholate, 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahydroxytriphenylene (HHTP) with Ni(II) ions into the two-dimensional porous conductive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which is termed Ni-catecholates (Ni-CAT). Then, the AuNPs/Ni-catecholates/carbon black/polarized pencil graphite electrode (AuNPs/Ni-CAT/CB/PPGE) was obtained by electrodeposition of AuNPs on the surface of PPGE modified with Ni-CAT/CB composite materials. The AuNPs/Ni-CAT/CB/PPGE were used for label-less detection of ctDNA, with a total detection time of only 30 min. Under optimal detection conditions, the AuNPs/Ni-CAT/CB/PPGE sensor exhibited excellent detection performance with good linear response to ctDNA over a wide concentration range and the detection limit down to the femtomolar level. The sensor was applied to the determination of ctDNA in serum samples with high sensitivity. This simple, efficient, and expeditious method has practical value in liquid biopsy of ctDNA and has potential for development in early detection, treatment, and prognosis of tumors. Abnormal expression of microRNAs is greatly associated with the occurrence of various cancer types, revealing great potential of microRNA as biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Herein, a MXene-MoS 2 heterostructure enhancing electrochemical biosensor coupled with catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) amplification approach for label-free determination of microRNA-21 (miR-21) was successfully assembled. In particular, the unique micro-nano heterostructure with large specific area and favorable electroconductivity exhibited the ability of excellent confinement effect. Thus, rendered the MXene-MoS 2 heterostructure the ability to trigger more target recycling reaction, giving new vitality to the traditional CHA amplification method. Meanwhile, thionine (Thi) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were anchoring at the surface of MXene-MoS 2 heterostructure, respectively, empowered the sensor the capability of capture probes fixation and miR-21 label-free determination. When numerous electronegative double-stranded DNA generated, the electron transfer was greatly hindered, resulting in signal decrease. Accordingly, the design denoted a broad dynamic range from 100 fM to 100 nM and a detection limit of about 26 fM, comparable or lower than previous reported methods for miR-21 detection. Furthermore, the sensing platform supplied satisfactory selectivity, reproducibility and stability towards the miR-21 detection. The real sample determination also showed a promising performance under clinical circumstance. The simple and reliable detection of microRNAs is of great significance for studying the biological functions, molecular diagnosis, disease treatment and targeted drug therapy of microRNA. In this study, we introduced a novel Ti 3 C 2 Tx (MXene) aerogels (denoted as MXA) composite gold nano-particles (AuNPs)-modified disposable carbon fiber paper (CFP) electrode for the label-free and sensitive detection of miRNA-155. Firstly, in the presence of MXene, graphene oxide (GO) and ethylenediamine (EDA), the 3D MXene hydrogel was formed by self-assembly method, and then adding the freeze-dried 3D MXA dropwise to CFP. Subsequently, electrodepositing AuNPs on the CFP/MXA was done to construct a 3D disposable DNA-circuit test strip with excellent interface. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the detection limit of 3D disposable DNA circuit strip for miRNA-155 was 136 aM (S/N = 3). The CFP/MXA/AuNPs (CMA) electrode also has a wide dynamic range (20 fM to 0.4 μM), with a span of 4 orders of magnitude. Notably, we also tested the practicality of the sensor in 8 clinical samples. A sandwich electrochemical biosensing strategy for ultrasensitive detection of miRNA-21 was developed by using graphene oxide incorporated 3D-flower-like MoS 2 (3D MoS 2 -rGO) nanocomposites as the substrate and horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-functionalized DNA strand 1 (S1)-gold nanoparticles (S1-AuNPs-HRP) as signal amplification probes. Herein, 3D MoS 2 -rGO nanocomposites not only had a large specific surface area and excellent conductivity, but also provided more attachment sites for electrodepositing AuNPs. In the presence of target miRNA, a sandwich structure was formed, and the determination of the miRNA-21 was carried out by measuring the DPV response of H 2 O 2 mediated by hydroquinone (HQ) at a potential of + 0.052 V (vs AgCl reference electrode). Under the optimal experimental conditions, the as-prepared biosensor enabled the ultrasensitive detection of miRNA-21 from 5 fM to 0.5 μM with the low detection limit of 0.54 fM (S/N = 3), comparable or lower than previous reported methods for miRNA-21 detection, which benefited from the synergistic amplification of 3D MoS 2 -rGO and AuNPs-HRP. The prepared biosensor showed satisfactory selectivity, reproducibility, and stability towards miRNA-21 detection. The biosensor was feasible for accurate and quantitative detection of miRNA-21 in normal human serum samples with RSD below 5.86%, which showed a great potential in clinical analysis and disease diagnosis., (© 2021. Aldehydes are very common pollutants and many are possible human carcinogens. Herein, we report an easy-to-operate and low-cost method for discrimination of diverse aldehydes. Our colorimetric sensor array based on Tollens' reagent allows discrimination of ten kinds of aldehydes, showing a distinct color change from wine-red to deep yellow. In the presence of aldehydes, Ag shells are coated onto gold nanoparticles (GNPs) functionalized with diverse ligands (including bovine serum albumin, polyvinylpyrrolidone and L-cysteine), forming Au@Ag core-shell nanoparticles. The sensor array has great capacity for differentiating between ten kinds of aldehydes by color change, with accuracy and specificity of over 88%. Under optimal conditions, there is good linear correlation between Euclidean distance and formaldehyde concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 10 000 μM ( R 2 = 0.9908). The sensor was successfully used to determine formaldehyde content in shrimp, with recovery of 85.8% to 114.82%. Our GNPs sensor shows good potential for fast, reliable identification of aldehydes in food.

ZIF-67-derived Co nanoparticles supported on N-doped carbon skeletons have been prepared from melamine foam (Co-NPs/NCs) for non-enzymatic electrochemical H 2 O 2 detection. The synthesis of Co-NPs/NCs was demonstrated via calcination treatment using melamine foam (MF) and ZIF-67 as precursors. The experimental results show that Co-NPs/NCs composites exhibit eminent catalytic activity toward specific determination of H 2 O 2 with high selectivity and sensitivity (252.43 and 203.88 μA mM -1  cm -2 ), low LOD (0.12 μM), and wide linear ranges (10-2080 and 2080-11,800 μM). The excellent performance might be ascribed to the synergetic effects of MOF and N-doped carbon skeletons. The carbon skeletons serve as a conductive bridge and provide a large specific surface area, which can facilitate electron transfer and well disperse nanoparticles. This non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor based on Co-NPs/NCs can successfully detect H 2 O 2 secreted by living cells, indicating its great potential in the early diagnosis and pathological exploration of disease., (© 2021. Two different electrochemical sensors (Hemin-G4/Au/GCE and Hemin-G4/Au/ITO) were developed and applied to explore the electrocatalytic capacity of H 2 O 2 reduction. Due to the excellent catalytic activity of Hemin-G4 and high conductivity of gold nanoparticles, both electrodes show excellent electrochemical performances towards H 2 O 2 with a low LOD (0.67 μM for Hemin-G4/Au/GCE and 0.65 μM for Hemin-G4/Au/ITO), rapid response (<4 s), and high selectivity and sensitivity (314.33 μA mM -1 cm -2 for Hemin-G4/Au/GCE and 322.22 μA mM -1 cm -2 for Hemin-G4/Au/ITO). The two electrodes allow sensitive capture of H 2 O 2 produced by A549 cells. Compared with the conventional method of detection in cell suspensions, an ITO electrode with a large specific surface area and good biocompatibility can provide a promising platform for cell adhesion, so as to realize real-time and in situ detection of extracellular H 2 O 2 . The experimental results show that A549 cells can adhere to the surface of the Hemin-G4/Au/ITO electrode and grow well. This is benefitted from the three-dimensional structure of the Hemin-G4/Au hydrogel, which provides a suitable microenvironment for cell adhesion and growth. Furthermore, the in situ detection shows a faster response time than that of in-solution detection. This is because the H 2 O 2 generated by the cells can be directly captured by the ITO electrode, which avoids diffusion from the solution to the electrode. These results indicate that the self-supporting hydrogel modified ITO electrode has great application prospects in basic biomedical research and continuous dynamic surveillance of diseases.

Integrating long-term cell culture with real-time electrochemical monitoring is a promising strategy for future studies of physiological and pathological processes. However, great challenges still remain in fabricating such a platform with satisfactory electrochemical performance as well as desirable biocompatibility. Herein, we proposed a novel multifunctional platform based on gold nanoparticles/electrochemically reduced graphene oxide/3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane modified indium tin oxide plate (ITO/APTES/ErGO/AuNPs). The unique biological and electrical properties of AuNPs and ErGO endow the platform with superior electrocatalytic activity and desirable biocompatibility. As a proof of concept, the present platform showed satisfactory electrochemical performance for sensitive and selective detection of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) with a sensitivity about 0.25 μA μM -1  cm -2 and a detection limit of 0.38 μM in a linear range of 0.5-1461 μM. And the principle of catalytic reduction was clarified through density functional calculations (DFT). Furthermore, cells grew on the platform exhibited excellent proliferation ability and considerable viability after a long-term cultivation. The single tumor antigen does not have enough specificity and sensitivity to meet the accurate diagnostic criteria, and single antigen measurement is often prone to false negative and false positive perceptions. Therefore, simultaneous monitoring of multiple tumor antigens related to precise tumors in serum samples has become an interesting and encouraging analytical method. In this work, we demonstrated an electrochemical biosensor based on multiple signal amplification methods, and simultaneously detect two lung cancer markers, cytokeratin 19 fragment 21-1 (CYFRA21-1) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). Large number of gold nanoparticles distributed on the surface of three-dimensional graphene (3D-G), poly-thionine (pThi) and poly-m-Cresol purple (pMCP) not only provide large number of binding sites for antigen and antibody, but also enhance the electrochemical signal of biosensor and greatly improves the sensitivity of the biosensor. The detection linear range extends from 0.5 to 200 ng/mL, with low detection limits (LOD) of 0.18 ng/mL and 0.31 ng/mL for CYFRA21-1 and CEA, respectively. It is critical to detect cellular secreted hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) in situ for clinical diagnosis, biomedical research and cancer treatment. Herein, the electrochemical determination of H 2 O 2 released by cancer cells grown on the surface of carbon cloth supported NiCo-DH/AuPt micro-nano arrays to elevate the capability of in situ signal collection was achieved. NiCo-DH/AuPt @CC was successfully prepared using the cobalt based metal-organic framework (Co-MOF) as a presoma after in situ etching growth onto the CC and electrodeposition of gold and platinum nanoparticles (AuPt NPs). Under the optimal conditions, owing to the excellent catalytic efficiency of NiCo-DH and AuPt NPs, the designed sensor performs a relatively wider linear range to H 2 O 2 concentration from 10 μM to 22.08 mM, and the limit of detection is 0.145 μM. Accordingly, the as-prepared sensing system was also applied to determine H 2 O 2 secreted by living cells which grown on the surface of NiCo-DH/AuPt @CC with satisfactory consequences. The development of metal nanoparticles (MNP) combined with a metal-organic framework (MOF) has received more and more attention due to its excellent synergistic catalytic ability, which can effectively broaden the scope of catalytic reactions and enhance the catalytic ability. In this work, we developed a novel ternary nanocomposite named Cu 2 O-mediated Au nanoparticle (Au NP) grown on MIL-53(Fe) for real-time monitoring of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) released from living cells. First, Cu 2 O-MIL-53(Fe) was prepared by redox assembly technology, which provided the growth template, and active sites for AuCl 4- . Au@Cu 2 O-MIL-53(Fe)/GCE biosensor was prepared by further loading nano-Au uniformly on the surface of Cu 2 O by electrochemical deposition. Compared to individual components, the hybrid nanocomposite showed superior electrochemical properties as electrode materials due to the synergistic effect between AuNPs, Cu 2 O, and MIL-53(Fe). Electrochemical measurement showed that the Au@Cu 2 O-MIL-53(Fe)/GCE biosensor presented a satisfactory catalytic activity towards H 2 O 2 with a low detection limit of 1.01 μM and sensitivity of 351.57 μA mM -1  cm -2 in the linear range of 10-1520 μM. Furthermore, this biosensor was successfully used for the real-time monitoring of dynamic H 2 O 2 activated by PMA released from living cells. And the great results of confocal fluorescence microscopy of the co-culture cells with PMA and Au@Cu 2 O-MIL-53(Fe) verified the reliability of the biosensor, suggesting its potential application to the monitoring of critical pathological processes at the cellular level.

Real-time quantitative monitoring of miRNAs plays an essential role in diagnosis and therapeutics. Herein, a DSN-coupled graphene nanoarray/gold nanoparticles (GNAs/AuNPs) carbon paper (CP) electrode for the dynamic, sensitive, and real-time analysis of miRNAs is reported. GNAs are vertically grown on the conductive CP by radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, and AuNPs are electrodeposited on CP/GNAs to build a 3D ultrasensitive sensing interface with large specific surface area, good conductivity and biocompatibility. The dynamic quantitative monitoring of microRNA-21 (miR-21) is realized by cyclic voltammetry with a series of different concentrations within 16 min, and this 3D GNAs/AuNPs DNA-circuit strip shows good performance for the simultaneous detection of miR-21 and miR-155, and the detection limits are as low as 21.4 and 30.3 am, respectively. Moreover, comparable detection results are achieved for clinical samples between the proposed sensor and qRT-PCR, suggesting the reliability of the constructed sensor. This ultrasensitive sensing and disposable DNA-circuit strip with 3D structure can efficiently shorten the diffusion distance between reactive biomolecules and the sensing interface, enhance the hybridization of probes and improve the sensitivity of the biosensor, holding great promise for the rapid, quantitative and dynamic monitoring of multiple low concentrations of biomolecules in point-of-care clinical analysis., (© 2020 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

Cartap residue poses a great threat to human health and its derivatives would remain in soils, natural waters and other environmental domains for a long time. Herein, a simple, rapid and ultrasensitive analytical method for the determination of cartap based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) and rhodamine B (RB) is first described. With the presence of citrate-stabilized AuNPs, the fluorescence of RB was remarkably quenched by AuNPs via FRET. The fluorescence of the AuNPs-RB system was recovered upon addition of cartap, cartap can be adsorbed on the surface of AuNPs due to its amino group that has good affinity with gold, which could induce the aggregation of AuNPs accompanying color change from red to blue. Thus, the FRET between AuNPs and RB was weakened and the PL intensity of RB was recovered accordingly. A good linear correlation for detection of RB was exhibited from 1 nM to 180 nM, and the detection limit reached 0.88 nM, which was much lower than the safety limit required by USA, UK and China. To the best of our knowledge, it has been the lowest detection ever without the aid of costly instrumentation. This method was successfully carried out for the assessment of cartap in real samples with satisfactory results, which revealed many advantages such as high sensitivity, low cost and non-time-consuming compared with traditional methods.

Previous studies have confirmed that cytokeratin 19 fragment antigen 21-1 (CYFRA 21-1) serves as a powerful biomarker in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Herein, we report for the first time a label-free electrochemical immunosensor for sensitive and selective detection of tumor marker CYFRA21-1. In this work, three-dimensional graphene @ gold nanoparticles (3D-G@Au) nanocomposite was modified on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface to enhance the conductivity of immunosensor. The anti-CYFRA21-1 captured and fixed on the modified GCE through the cross-linking of chitosan (CS), glutaraldehyde (GA) and anti-CYFRA21-1. The differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) peak current change due to the specific interaction between anti-CYFRA21-1 and CYFRA21-1 on the modified electrode surface was utilized to detect CYFRA21-1. Under optimized conditions, the proposed electrochemical immunosensor was employed to detect CYFRA21-1 and exhibited a wide linear range of 0.25-800ngmL -1 and low detection limit of 100pgmL -1 (S/N = 3). Moreover, the recovery rates of serum samples were in the range from 95.2% to 108.7% and the developed immunosensor also shows a good correlation (less than 6.6%) with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in the detection of clinical serum samples. We have explored AuNPs (13 nm) both as a catalyst and as a core for synthesizing water-dispersible and highly stable core-shell structural gold@Prussian blue (Au@PB) nanoparticles (NPs). Systematic characterization by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) disclosed AuNPs coated uniformly by a 5 nm thick PB layer. Au@PB NPs were attached to single-layer graphene oxide (GO) to form Au@PB decorated GO sheets. The resulting hybrid material was filtered layer-by-layer into flexible and free-standing GO paper, which was further converted into conductive reduced GO (RGO)/Au@PB paper via hydrazine vapour reduction. High-resolution TEM images suggested that RGO papers are multiply sandwich-like structures functionalized with core-shell NPs. Resulting sandwich functionalized graphene papers have high conductivity, sufficient flexibility, and robust mechanical strength, which can be cut into free-standing electrodes. Such electrodes, used as non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors, were tested systematically for electrocatalytic sensing of hydrogen peroxide. The high performance was indicated by some of the key parameters, for example the linear H2O2 concentration response range (1-30 μM), the detection limit (100 nM), and the high amperometric sensitivity (5 A cm(-2) M(-1)). Large-area Au-aggregate-assembled fractal patterns with tailored sizes and densities are achieved by sputtering Au nanoparticles on hexagonally patterned bowl-shaped-dimples on Al foil and subsequent annealing. After decorating with much smaller Ag nanoparticles, the resultant substrates exhibit an active and reproducible SERS effect.

Gold nanoparticles are useful in biomedical applications due to their distinct optical properties and high chemical stability. Reports of the biogenic formation of gold colloids from gold complexes has also led to an increased level of interest in the biomineralization of gold. However, the mechanism responsible for biomolecule-directed gold nanoparticle formation remains unclear due to the lack of structural information about biological systems and the fast kinetics of biomimetic chemical systems in solution. Here we show that intact single crystals of lysozyme can be used to study the time-dependent, protein-directed growth of gold nanoparticles. The protein crystals slow down the growth of the gold nanoparticles, allowing detailed kinetic studies to be carried out, and permit a three-dimensional structural characterization that would be difficult to achieve in solution. Furthermore, we show that additional chemical species can be used to fine-tune the growth rate of the gold nanoparticles.
