Abstract

Mesomorphism, structure and thermo-electric properties were investigated for a new achiral banana-shaped compound which, unlike the analogues considered earlier, contains cyclic fragments in its lateral substituents. It is shown that this compound displays linear pyroelectric behaviour and possesses an enantiotropic high-temperature chiral phase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
