INTRODUCTION Cancer is defined as the uncontrollable growth of cells that invade and cause damage to surrounding tissue. Oral diseases and conditions share modifiable risk factors with the leading NCDs (Cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes). This study was carried out to assess the knowledge regarding prevention of oral cancer and to find out the effectiveness of video assisted teaching program among tobacco chewers. MATERIAL AND METHODS A pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design study was conducted to find the effectiveness of video assisted teaching for prevention of oral cancer among tobacco chewers in Dhakdahi village of Rohini rural municipality of Rupandehi District, Nepal. The total duration of the study was three months 5/5/2019 to 26/8/2019. The study samples tobacco chewers were selected by non-probability convenient sampling. Self-administered structured questionnaire was used for socio-demographic variables and video in local language for prevention of oral cancer was used as a intervention for the study group and collected data was used analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics with SPSS software version 20.0 RESULTS The findings of the study show that the mean score pre-test knowledge was 7.23 and standard deviation 1.801. After the intervention, the mean score of post-test knowledge was 9.96 and standard deviation 1.56. No significant association was found between socio -demographic variables and post-test knowledge level. CONCLUSION Based on the study findings the knowledge level on prevention of cancer is inadequate before intervention of video assisted teaching and after the video assisted teaching the knowledge on prevention was found to be improved. There was overall gain in the knowledge score teaching program following the video assisted teaching program.

Lipoid proteinosis is a very rare progressive autosomal recessive disorder characterized by deposition of hyaline material in the skin, upper aerodigestive tract, and internal organs. Patients present with a history of repeated blistering, skin scarring, beaded eyelid papules, waxy papules over the body, and laryngeal and tongue infiltration leading to hoarseness of voice. This disorder is caused by mutations in the extracellular protein 1 gene present on chromosome 1q21. We report three cases of lipoid proteinosis, who presented to our outpatient department with aforementioned features.

Background and objectives: - Amavata (Rheumatoid arthritis) is a most remarkable problem in the society in modern era. In Ayurveda, many approaches are in practice to treat Amavata but still it remains a challenging problem. Ayurveda considers ama as the root cause of disease amavata. Design: Double blind randomized interventional trial. Participants: age group of 20-60 yrs. Method: 60 patients were selected from OPD and IPD of A & U Tibbia college and hospital, Delhi. They were randomly divided in two groups. Bhallatakadi Churna with guda in Group A and Bhallatak guggulu in Group B administered for three months of duration with follow up at every fifteen days. Outcome measures:- The assessment of efficacy of drug was made through scoring of clinical features and Laboratory parameters i. e. RA factor, ASO titre. Results: Present study reflects that both regimes- Bhallatak churna with guda and Bhallatak guggulu, have given very good relief in sign and symptoms of Amavat, but in group B who received Bhallatak Guggul showed faster and better improvement. Conclusion:- Bhallatak Guggulu is safe, beneficial and very effective in management of Amavata and also in Rheumatoid arthritis.

Background and objectives: - PEM is a type of malnutrition resulting from deficiency of proteins and calories in food over a long period of time. India ranked 2nd after Bangladesh in world in malnutrition of children. Hence there is a sustained need of developing a nutritious food supplement which could provide better nutrients to eliminate or improve the malnutrition related problems, within the reach of majority even in rural area also. With objective to evaluate the role of Santarpan Manth in Protein Energy Malnutrition. Design: Open Randomized Prospective clinical study. Participants: - children of age group 2-5 yrs. Method: -30 patients were selected from OPD and IPD of Balroga, NIA, Jaipur. They were randomly divided in two groups.  Santarpan Manth-1 in Group A and  Santarpan Manth-II in Group B (Placebo Group ) administered for three months of duration with follow up at every fifteen days. Outcome measures:- Anthropometry parameters i.e. Weight , Height, MAC, Skin fold thickness and chest circumference : Laboratory parameters i.e. Hb, and TSP. Results: - significant improvement in anthropometric parameters in group A, and in laboratory parameters significant improvement in haemoglobin level and TSP Level in group A. Conclusion: - the trial drug “Santarpan Manth” is effective in promoting the growth and weight gain in children those suffering with PEM( Balshosha)

Thanatophoric Dysplasia (TD) is a congenital, sporadic and most lethal skeletal dysplasia caused by new mutation in FGFR3 gene. Authors report such a rare case of a term alive baby with dysmorphic features, born to an unbooked, 40 years old G4P3+0 with non-consanguineous marriage; admitted at 9 months of gestation to present hospital with complain of pain abdomen for 2 days. Patient delivered a term female baby of vaginally which had delayed cry after birth, Admitted in NICU immediately with respiratory distress. The baby looked dysmorphic and suggested TD as most likely diagnosis. The case is being reported for its rarity and for high importance of early booking and anomaly scan. Early diagnosis is important since it provides alternative options of termination of pregnancy when an affected foetus is detected.

Mesenteric lymphatic malformations are rare, benign tumors of unknown etiology, most commonly found in children. There are fewer than 200 cases of intraabdominal mesenteric lymphatic malformations reported in the literature. Management of these lesions can include observation, medical management, or surgical resection. Sepsis is a common cause of admission to the pediatric intensive care unit with Escherichia coli being a common causative gram-negative organism. This case discusses a patient with a left-sided abdominal mesenteric lymphatic malformation who was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit with septic shock and eventual multisystem organ failure secondary to E coli .

Primary peritoneal serous carcinoma (PPSC) is a rare entity that diffusely involves the pelvic peritoneum seen predominantly in elderly postmenopausal women. Exclusion of serous carcinoma arising from the ovary and fimbrial end of fallopian tube is required to diagnose the above entity. Cellular and molecular mechanisms enabling the parasite to sense and respond to the intra- and the extra-cellular environments are therefore key elements for the proliferation and transmission of Plasmodium, and therefore are, from a public health perspective, strategic targets in the fight against this deadly disease. The MALSIG consortium, which was initiated in February 2009, was designed with the primary objective to integrate research ongoing in Europe and India on i) the properties of Plasmodium signalling molecules, and ii) developmental processes occurring at various points of the parasite life cycle. On one hand, functional studies of individual genes and their products in Plasmodium falciparum (and in the technically more manageable rodent model Plasmodium berghei) are providing information on parasite protein kinases and phosphatases, and of the molecules governing cyclic nucleotide metabolism and calcium signalling. On the other hand, cellular and molecular studies are elucidating key steps of parasite development such as merozoite invasion and egress in blood and liver parasite stages, control of DNA replication in asexual and sexual development, membrane dynamics and trafficking, production of gametocytes in the vertebrate host and further parasite development in the mosquito. This article, which synthetically reviews such signalling molecules and cellular processes, aims to provide a glimpse of the global frame in which the activities of the MALSIG consortium will develop over the next three years.
