Unhygienic conditions attract organisms into the pathological lesion and worsen the condition, here is a case wherein the patient with psoriatic skin lesions took treatment from an unqualified person and in addition his unhygienic habit attracted maggots into the foot eating away a major chunk of his normal tissues. The case was diagnosed and treated in lines with fundamental principles of Sushruta. The case is a best example of maggots destructive and repair effect on the tissue, the wound with maggots presence healed faster than with wound without maggots.

A detailed review of ancient texts of Ayurveda connotes tremendous information on wound healing potentials of herbs being utilized by their different forms. This brings curiosity to learn more about the creative applications of herbs in various types of wounds. Probably this could be one among the several reasons which honors Sushruta, an Ancient Indian Surgeon as Father of Surgery. Wound dressing in various systems were compared not only on the basis of the rate of granulation tissue formed or the rate of wound healing but, also on the cost and duration of hospital stay of the patient which was considered as a measure of the morbidity of the patient. As per Ayurvedic texts, Wounds, Ulcers, Burns and Incision all are grouped under one term as ‘Vrana’, a defect in skin or mucous membrane being common in all of them. On the basis of stages of pathogenesis Vrana or ulcer has been divided as Dushta Vrana (Chronic / non healing / infected ulcer), Shuddhavrana (healthy wound), Ruhyamana Vrana (Healing wound) and Rudha Vrana (completely healed wound). Sushruta indicates eight pearls for Infective ulcer, these eight being the eight forms of medical therapeutics used locally to cleanse the ulcer and bring to healthy state.

Iron deficiency anaemia is one of the wide - spread diseases in India, especially among the poor and more common in women of reprodu ctive age due to menstrual blood loss which varies from woman to woman and from cycle to cycle. It’s a disease involving multiple systems r ather than a pure haematological condition by which it shows similarity with Pandu Roga. The present study was undert aken to evaluate the efficacy of taramandura guda in pandu with special reference to iron d eficiency anaemia among women . 30 diagnosed cases of Pandu, in age group of 20 - 35 y ea rs were selected for the study. Taramandura Guda was given for 40 days to the pa tients at the dose of 500 mg thrice daily. Detailed research proforma was prepared to record the observations which were graded as per their severity. The results obtained after the clinical study were analysed statistically and all the observations were s ubjected to discussion. Overall assessment of the therapy was done based on the significance of the statistical test values in both subjective and objective parameters. The final results showed improvement in majority of these parameters. The study reveale d a remarkable efficacy of the trial drug in releiving almost all the clinical features within the study duration of 40 days, establishing the multifaceted action of the drug.
