At the moment, the SARS-CoV-19 pandemic is still attacking the health of humanity, and vaccines are the primary health strategy to eradicate this global challenge. So, with the exception of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, no vaccine for any disease has been brought to clinical use so quickly. Therefore, even with strict management, it can still bring some special adverse effects. One of the most notable is the adverse cardiovascular reactions to SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. No case reports of individuals with irreversible arrhythmia complications following the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine have been found in the available literature. We report the first case of a postoperative man with Marfan syndrome with atrial fibrillation after receiving the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine.

BACKGROUND Proliferative glomerulonephritis with monoclonal immunoglobulin G (IgG) deposits (PGNMID) is a newly recognized rare disease. The renal pathology is characterized by prominent manifestations of membranous hyperplasia, which are easy to misdiagnose. The clinical symptoms are severe. Massive proteinuria and hypoproteinemia are conspicuous, and most patients are accompanied by renal insufficiency and microscopic hematuria. CASE SUMMARY A 27-year-old woman was admitted to a hospital for macroscopic hematuria and proteinuria 4 years prior, and renal biopsy in the hospital suggested moderate-to-severe mesangial proliferating glomerulonephritis (MsPGN). She had taken a glucocorticoid, cyclophosphamide, mycophenolate mofetil, and other treatments and achieved brief partial remission. Recently, the patient visited our hospital due to massive proteinuria. Repeated renal biopsy and re-evaluation of the first biopsy obtained 4 years previously revealed monoclonal immunoglobulin deposition in the glomeruli. A bone marrow examination was performed to exclude hematologic malignancy, and a diagnosis of PGNMID was established. The patient showed remission after four cycles of a bortezomib + cyclophosphamide + dexamethasone scheme. CONCLUSION PGNMID is usually misdiagnosed as MsPGN or membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis. Although it often occurs in middle-aged and elderly individuals, it cannot be readily excluded in young people, even when serum immunofixation electrophoresis is negative. IgG subtype and light chain staining are necessary when this disease is highly suspected. An accurate diagnosis at the earliest stage may avoid the overuse of glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants.

BACKGROUND Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis (AAV) are classically thought to cause renal impairment and small vessel vasculitis with different pathophysiologies. Their overlap constitutes a rare rheumatologic disease. To date, only dozens of such cases with biopsy-proven glomerulonephritis have been reported worldwide typically in women of childbearing age. Here, we present a unique clinical case due to its rarity and individualized treatment of a Chinese man in his eighth decade of life. CASE SUMMARY A 77-year-old man was admitted to several hospitals for shortness of breath and received nonspecific treatments over the past 3 years. As his symptoms were not completely relieved, he visited our hospital for further treatment. Laboratory examinations revealed kidney dysfunction, severe anaemia, hypocom-plementemia, glomerular proteinuria, and microscopic haematuria. Antinuclear antibodies, as well as anti-dsDNA antibodies, were positive. Computed tomography of the chest showed right pleural effusion. Renal biopsy was performed, and histology suggested crescentic glomerulonephritis, pauci-immune type. After treatment with plasmapheresis, glucocorticoid, and cyclo-phosphamide, the disease was in remission, and the patient remained in a stable condition for over 3 years post-hospital discharge. CONCLUSION Due to its complexity and rarity, SLE and AAV overlap syndrome is easily misdiagnosed. An accurate diagnosis and treatment at the earliest stage may significantly improve the condition and reduce irreversible organ injury.

Summary The Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.), a member of the Rhamnaceae family, is an important perennial fruit tree crop of substantial economic, ecological and nutritional value, and is also used as a traditional herbal medicine. Here, we report the resequencing of 493 jujube accessions, including 202 wild and 291 cultivated accessions at >16× depth. Our population genomic analyses revealed that the Shanxi–Shaanxi area of China was jujube's primary domestication centre and that jujube was then disseminated into East China before finally extending into South China. Divergence events analysis indicated that Ziziphus acidojujuba and Ziziphus jujuba diverged around 2.7 Mya, suggesting the interesting possibility that a long pre‐domestication period may have occurred prior to human intervention. Using the large genetic polymorphism data set, we identified a 15‐bp tandem insertion in the promoter of the jujube ortholog of the POLLEN DEFECTIVE IN GUIDANCE 1 (POD1) gene, which was strongly associated with seed‐setting rate. Integrating genome‐wide association study (GWAS), transcriptome data, expression analysis and transgenic validation in tomato, we identified a DA3/UBIQUITIN‐SPECIFIC PROTEASE 14 (UBP14) ortholog, which negatively regulate fruit weight in jujube. We also identified candidate genes, which have likely influenced the selection of fruit sweetness and crispness texture traits among fresh and dry jujubes. Our study not only illuminates the genetic basis of jujube evolution and domestication and provides a deep and rich genomic resource to facilitate both crop improvement and hypothesis‐driven basic research, but also identifies multiple agriculturally important genes for this unique perennial tree fruit species.

Ballet pirouettes provide an opportunity to study dynamically balanced, whole-body rotations on a single support and the potential to scale results to smaller angular displacements executed by general populations. The purpose of this study was to determine the supporting limb’s ankle, knee, hip, and pelvis-trunk joint angle excursions and kinematic coordination strategies utilized during the pirouette’s turn phase. BACKGROUND Goodpasture syndrome (GS) is a rare disease, the morbidity of which is estimated to be 0.5-0.8 per million per year. Hemorrhage is the most serious complication in renal biopsy. Despite the fact that both GS and hemorrhage after renal biopsy are rare, it has not been reported that they are likely to occur in the same patient. CASE SUMMARY A 30-year-old man with diffuse pulmonary hemorrhage and rapid progressive renal function caused by anti-glomerular basement membrane disease presented atypical symptoms without hemoptysis, accompanied by life-threatening hypoxemia. Plasmapheresis was performed, and glucocorticoids and cyclophosphamide were administered. The patient started to show signs of improvement. Percutaneous renal biopsy is an appropriate diagnostic measure that is commonly safe, but this patient experienced hemorrhage after operation, thus necessitating embolization of the renal artery to stop the bleeding. The patient's condition was improved, and the serum anti-glomerular basement membrane antibody level was 106 AU/mL (normal range: < 24 AU/mL) and slowly decreased. His discharge medications were oral daily prednisone (30 mg) and continued maintenance hemodialysis. CONCLUSION GS is a rare organ-specific autoimmune disease that is invariably ubiquitous in the lung and kidney areas. Renal biopsy is the appropriate procedure for the treatment of GS disease, although it is an invasive measure.

Development of the drug with high therapeutic efficacy and low toxicity is crucial to cancer ablation. In this study, we have demonstrated a red light-responsive prodrug BDP-TK-CPT by connecting the chemotherapeutic agent camptothecin with a boron dipyrromethene (BDP)-based photosensitizer via a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-labile thioketal chain. Since camptothecin is modified by a BDP-based macrocycle at the active site, the formed prodrug displays an extremely low toxicity in dark. However, upon illumination by red light, it can efficiently generate ROS leading to cell death by photodynamic therapy. Meanwhile, the ROS generated can destroy thioketal group to release free camptothecin which further results in local cell death by chemotherapy. The combined antitumor effects of the prodrug have been verified in HepG2, EC109, and HeLa cancer cells and mice bearing H22 tumors. This study may provide an alternative strategy for stimuli-responsive combination treatment of tumors by conjugation of ROS-activatable prodrugs with photosensitizing agents.

Ultraviolet irradiation was used to tailor the surface plasmon band of the densely distributed aluminium nanoparticle arrays fabricated by gas-phase deposition. We showed that the broad surface plasmon resonance band of the as-prepared sample could be tuned to a sharp and strong resonance band in the deep ultraviolet optical range, with a large blue shift of the peak wavelength. The evolution of the surface plasmon resonance properties was attributed to the ultraviolet irradiation-improved surface oxidation of the nanoparticles, which eliminated the near-field couplings between the closely spaced nanoparticles by increasing their interspacing.

Here, we have synthesized and characterized a novel activatable photosensitizer (PS) 8a in which two well-designed boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives are utilized as the photosensitizing fluorophore and quencher respectively, which are connected by a disulfide linker via two successive Cu (І) catalyzed click reactions. The fluorescence emission and singlet oxygen production of 8a are suppressed via intramolecular fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) from the excited BODIPY-based PS part to quencher unit, but both of them can be simultaneously switched on by cancer-related biothiol glutathione (GSH) in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solution with 0.05% Tween 80 as a result of cleavage of disulfide. Also, 8a exhibits a bright fluorescence image and a substantial ROS production in A549 human lung adenocarcinoma, HeLa human cervical carcinoma and H22 mouse hepatoma cells having a relatively high concentration of GSH, thereby leading to a significant photocytotoxicity, with IC50 values as low as 0.44 μM, 0.67 μM and 0.48 μM, respectively. In addition, the photosensitizer can be effectively activated and imaged in H22 transplanted hepatoma tumors of mice and shows a strong inhibition on tumor growth. All these results suggest that such a GSH-responsive photosensitizer based on FRET mechanism may provide a new strategy for tumor-targeted and fluorescence imaging-guided cancer therapy.

Osteoarthritis disease can easily lead to articular cartilage degeneration and subchondral bone damage, so the demand for suitable articular substitutes is gradually increasing. In order to simulate the complex environment of different layers in natural joint, we fabricate the continuous one-phase gradient scaffold. In the study, CS (chitosan) was modified with SH (sodium hyaluronate) and GO (graphene oxide) to form the whole scaffold. nHAP (Nano-hydroxyapatite) was in situ generated with gradient distribution in the scaffold. Continuous interface can better imitate the combination style of cartilage and subchondral bone at joint. The diverseness of scaffold’s different layer in water absorption/retention rate and mechanical property is similar to the difference of articular cartilage and subchondral bone. Meanwhile, the cell experiments demonstrated that the bionic scaffold can well promote the proliferation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell. Articular defect model further confirmed that the scaffold can better induce articular regeneration. Herein, the prepared scaffold might be an excellent candidate for endogenous articular repair.

the reliability and vibration performance test of vibratory rollers have been done in the test field to ensure that the vibratory roller meet the quality requirement. At present, the indoor test stand for vibratory roller has not yet been studied at home and abroad. This paper designs the indoor test stand for vibratory roller and makes simulation analysis by the numerical model of vibration-drum and test stand. The vibration isolation system of test stand is determined as a function of the test stand mass (m2), the stiffness of rubber tire (k1) and the stiffness of the vibration isolation block (k2). The test results showed that the vibration drum-test stand model can account for the vibration isolation system.

Aim There is an increasing evidence for the role of high risk human papillomavirus (HPV) in the pathogenesis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relevance of HPV infection to the survival and prognosis of OSCC. Methodology Fifty-two patients with OSCC were followed from 4 to 88 months with a median of 50.7 months. HPV DNA was identified in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor specimens by nested PCR with MY09/MY11 and GP5+/GP6+ primer pairs and the HPV genotype was determined by direct DNA sequencing. Association between the HPV status and risk factors for cancer as well as tumor-host characteristics were analyzed. Survival curves were calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method and analyzed using the log-rank test. Results HPV was found in 40.4% of the tumors with HPV16 accounting for 63.5%, HPV18 for 30.8%, HPV6 for 3.9% and HPV11 for 1.8%. No infection with more than one HPV genotype was detected. HPV infection was significantly associated with poor histological grade, TNM stage I–II, alcohol usage and no smoking status. Multi-variate analysis showed that HPV had an independent prognostic effect on the overall survival after adjusting other confounding factors such as histological grade, TNM stage and tobacco usage. The presence of HPV was significantly correlated with a better survival in patients with OSCC. Conclusion HPV infection can act as an independent predictor for the survival and prognosis of OSCC.

The effects on the calibration uncertainties of industrial ultraviolet radiometers of spatial non-uniformity in the irradiance beam and detector response are studied both theoretically and experimentally. The results show that an error of a few parts in 102 or more could easily arise from the non-uniformity of the beam used in calibration if the effective receiving area of the test meter head differs significantly from that of a standard meter head. This error can be removed effectively by an area-correction technique based on a charge-coupled-device (CCD) camera.
