Aim: The present study was aimed to establish antifungal activity of flavonoid isolated from Lindernia crustacea (L) F. Muell. Methods: Potent bioactive constituent from benzene extract was isolated through flash chromatography with solvent Toluene and Acetic acid (4:1). Isolated compound was structurally established by spectroscopic method. Antifungal potential of benzene extract as well as isolated compound was tested by disc diffusion method against two fungal strains Candida albicans (C. albicans) and Trichophyton rubrum (T. rubrum). Results: The isolated compound from benzene extract was found to be flavonoid. Benzene extract as well as flavonoid were shown remarkable zone of inhibition against both fungal strains which indicates strong antifungal activity. Conclusion: The experimental results concluded that Lindernia crustacea (L) F. Muell have significant anti fungal activity due to flavonoid content. It is expected that the results of the present research work would be beneficial in establishing the scientific basis of the traditional claims of medicinal values of Lindernia crustacea.

Enhydra fluctuations an edible semi-aquatic vegetable plant are widely used in the traditional system of medicine. Ethanolic extract of Enhydra fluctuans was screened for analgesic & anti-inflammatory activity. Analgesic activity was evaluated by the hot plate method and anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by formalin induce paw edema in Wistar rats (male). Ethanolic extract dose of 300 mg/kg reduce formalin induce paw inflammation and also increased the pain threshold in rats evidenced by hot plate method. The experimental results concluded that Enhydra fluctuans have significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity may due to flavonoid and phenolic compound content.

Potentilla fulgens Wall. (Rosaceae) is a medicinal herb that is traditionally used to treat diabetes, ulcers, diarrhea, and cancer. Since the genus Potentilla bears numerous closely related species; hence, standardization of the specific species is of great importance. The present study aims to evaluate the aerial parts of P. fulgens (APPF) based on pharmacognostic, phytochemical, an in vitro study (antioxidant and antimicrobial) aspects. Pharmacognostical study of the APPF was done as per the standard guidelines of WHO. The study of in vitro antioxidant assays includes the total antioxidant capacity, reducing power assay, radical scavenging activity for DPPH, superoxide, hydrogen peroxide, and hydroxyl radical. Antimicrobial assays of the successive extracts (PFSEs) were screened on six bacterial strains viz. B. subtilis, B. pumilus, E. coli, M. luteus, P. aeruginosa, and S. aureus. The results of the present investigation depicted that various diagnostic characters can be drawn from the pharmacognostic aspects of APPF. Phytochemical screening concurrent with TLC showed the presence of polyphenolics, steroids, saponins, and carbohydrates. Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the antioxidant property of different extracts of Lindernia crustacea (L) F. Muell and isolate flavonoid from the potent extract and characterize it. Methods: Isolation was carried out by flash chromatography using Toluene:acetic acid (4:1) as eluent. The isolated compound was characterized using spectroscopic methods. 2, 2′- diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl, ferric thiocyanate, thiobarbituric acid, and reducing power assay methods were followed for the antioxidant study. Results: Characterization of the isolated compound confirms it as the flavonoid. Results of the antioxidant study showed that benzene extract has the highest antioxidant activity with a less IC50 value in comparison to ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts. The isolated compound showed significant antioxidant activity when compared with aspirin. Conclusion: The results of the study suggest that L. crustacea (L) F. Muell is a source of flavonoid which has potent antioxidant activity.
