Amaç: Bu çalışmada kriptosporidiozis ile doğal olarak enfekte olmuş neonatal buzağıların tedavisinde gamitromisinin klinik etkinliğinin belirlenmesi amaç- lanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: 5-20 günlük 20 diyareli neonatal buzağı oluşturdu. Kriptosporidiozis tanısı mikroskopik inceleme ve ELISA testi ile konuldu. Dışkıda gram başına 4 x 104 ile 15 x 106 arasında kriptosporidium ookisti görülen buzağılar çalışmaya dahil edildi. Hemogram ve kan gazları tedavinin başlangı- cında ve tedaviden sonra ölçüldü. Buzağılara subkutan olarak tek doz 6 mg/ kg dozunda gamitromisin uygulandı. İlacın etkinliği, 5. güne kadar ishalin durumu, ookist saçılımı ve vücut durumunun değerlendirilmesi ile takip edildi. Bulgular: Beşinci günde, altı tane buzağı dışkısında ookist saptanmazken, 11 buzağı dışkısında ookist sayısı önemli oranda azaldı. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, buzağıların solunum sistemi enfeksiyonunun tedavisinde tilmikosin’in klinik etkinliğini değerlendirmektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu araştırma solunum sistemi enfeksiyonu bulunan 30 buzağı üzerinde gerçekleştirildi. Buzağılardan bronkoalveolar lavaj (BAL) sıvısı örnekleri alındı. Mikrobiyolojik muayeneleri yapıldı ve etkenlerin antibiyotik duyarlılıkları belirlendi. Buzağılara tilmikosin (10 mg/kg) deri altı yolla tek doz uygulandı. Bulgular: Toplam 30 BAL sıvısı örneğinin 11’inde bakteriyel üreme olmazken, 19’unda bakteriyel üreme tespit edildi. Örneklerin 14’ünde Pasteurella multocida (P. multocida), 3’ünde Trueperella pyogenes (T. pyogenes) ve 2’sinde Escherichia coli (E. coli) izole edildi. Bakterilere etkili olan antibiyotiklerin ise amoksisilin, sefquinom, marbofloksasin, gamitromisin ile tilmikosin olduğu saptandı. Öneri: Sonuç olarak, solunum sistemi enfeksiyonlarında dominant bakterinin Pasteurella multocida olduğu, tilmikosin’in buzağıların solunum sistemi hastalıklarının tedavisinde etkili olduğu belirlendi., Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of tilmicosin in the treatment of respiratory system infections of calves. Materials and Methods: This study was performed on 30 calves with respiratory system infections. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid samples were taken from the calves. Microbiological examinations of BAL fluid samples were performed and antibiotic susceptibilities of the agents were determined. A single dose of tilmicosin (10 mg/kg SC) was administered to each calves. Results: While bacterial growth was not observed in 11 of 30 BAL samples, bacterial growth of 19 was detected. Pasteurella multocida (P. multocida) was isolated in 14 of the sample. Remaining bacteria were 3 Trueperella pyogenes (T. pyogenes) and 2 Escherichia coli (E. coli). Amoxicillin, sefquinom, marbofloxacin, gamithromycin and tilmicosin were found to be effective antibiotics. Conclusion: As a result, the dominant bacterium in respiratory system infections is Pasteurella multocida and also tilmicosin was effective in the treatment of respiratory diseases of calves.

WOS: 000512441400001, PubMed: 32043623, In this study, the pharmacokinetics of moxifloxacin (5 mg/kg) was determined following a single intravenous administration of moxifloxacin alone and co-administration with diclofenac (2.5 mg/kg) or flunixin meglumine (2.2 mg/kg) in sheep. Six healthy Akkaraman sheep (2 +/- 0.3 years and 53.5 +/- 5 kg of body weight) were used. A longitudinal design with a 15-day washout period was used in three periods. In the first period, moxifloxacin was administered by an intravenous (IV) injection. In the second and third periods, moxifloxacin was co-administered with IV administration of diclofenac and flunixin meglumine, respectively. The plasma concentration of moxifloxacin was assayed by high-performance liquid chromatography. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated using a two-compartment open pharmacokinetic model. Following IV administration of moxifloxacin alone, the mean elimination half-life (t(1/2 beta)), total body clearance (Cl-T), volume of distribution at steady state (V-dss) and area under the curve (AUC) of moxifloxacin were 2.27 hr, 0.56 L h(-1) kg(-1), 1.66 L/kg and 8.91 hr*mu g/ml, respectively. While diclofenac and flunixin meglumine significantly increased the t(1/2 beta) and AUC of moxifloxacin, they significantly reduced the Cl-T and V-dss. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı kan parazitlerine karşı kullanılan imidokarb, buparvaquon ve oksitetrasiklinin koyunlarda maksimum doz ve sürede kombine kullanımının olası yan etkilerini belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmada 10 adet koyuna imidokarb (2.4 mg/ kg), buparvaquon (2.5 mg/kg) ve oksitetrasiklin (20 mg/kg) birlikte kas içi yolla 3 gün ara ile iki kez uygulandı. Kan örnekleri uygulama öncesi (0 kontrol) ve sonrası 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ve 6. günler alındı. ANIMALS 40 neonatal calves that were healthy (n = 10) or had diarrhea (30). PROCEDURES The study was a cross-sectional study. Results of hematologic analyses and serum concentrations of intestinal fatty acid-binding protein (I-FABP), liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP), trefoil factor 3 (TFF-3), Claudin-3 (CLDN-3), gamma-enteric smooth muscle actin (ACTG2), intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP), interleukin-8 (IL-8), platelet-activating factor (PAF), and leptin (LP) were compared among calves grouped according to whether they were healthy (control group; G-1) or had diarrhea caused by K99 Escherichia coli (G-2; n = 10), bovine rota-or coronavirus (G-3; 5 each), or Cryptosporidium spp (G-4; 10). RESULTS Across the 3 time points at which blood samples were obtained and evaluated, the groups of calves with diarrhea generally had markedly higher mean serum concentrations of L-FABP, TFF-3, IAP, IL-8, and LP, compared with the control group. In addition, G-2 also consistently had markedly higher mean serum concentrations of I-FAB and ACTG2 and lower mean serum concentrations of CLDN-3, compared with the control group. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE Results indicated that degree of intestinal epithelial damage differed among calves grouped by the etiologic agent of diarrhea and that such damage might have been more severe in calves with diarrhea caused by K99 E coli. The aim of this study is to determine the intestinal damage with intestinal biomarkers in calves with atresia coli. Material and Methods: The study was conducted on 40 Holstein calves diagnosed with atresia coli with mild to moderate abdominal distention and 10 healthy Holstein calves which served as the control. Blood samples were collected from all calves, and then serum concentrations of intestinal biomarkers were estimated, namely intestinal fatty acid binding protein (IFABP), liver fatty acid binding protein (LFABP), trefoil factor 3 (TFF3), and intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP), using commercially available specific bovine ELISA kits. An automatic blood gas analyser was employed for determining the lactate concentration. Results: The concentrations of serum LFABP (P < 0.01), IFABP, TFF3, IAP, and blood lactate (P < 0.001) were significantly higher in calves with atresia coli than in healthy calves. Conclusion: The calves affected with atresia coli exhibited severe intestinal damage, and IFABP, LFABP, and TFF3 have significant diagnostic importance and play a useful role in determining the intestinal damage due to intestinal obstruction. WOS: 000501034000007, PubMed: 31190327, The aim of this study was to determine the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics of enrofloxacin (ENR) and danofloxacin (DNX) following intravenous (IV) and intramuscular (IM) administrations in premature calves. The study was performed on twenty-four calves that were determined to be premature by anamnesis and general clinical examination. Premature calves were randomly divided into four groups (six premature calves/group) according to a parallel pharmacokinetic (PK) design as follows: ENR-IV (10 mg/kg, IV), ENR-IM (10 mg/kg, IM), DNX-IV (8 mg/kg, IV), and DNX-IM (8 mg/kg, IM). Plasma samples were collected for the determination of tested drugs by high-pressure liquid chromatography with UV detector and analyzed by noncompartmental methods. Mean PK parameters of ENR and DNX following IV administration were as follows: elimination half-life (t(1/2 lambda z)) 11.16 and 17.47 hr, area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC(0-48)) 139.75 and 38.90 hr*mu g/ml, and volume of distribution at steady-state 1.06 and 4.45 L/kg, respectively. Total body clearance of ENR and DNX was 0.07 and 0.18 L hr(-1) kg(-1), respectively. The PK parameters of ENR and DNX following IM injection were t(1/2 lambda z) 21.10 and 28.41 hr, AUC(0-48) 164.34 and 48.32 hr*mu g/ml, respectively. The bioavailability (F) of ENR and DNX was determined to be 118% and 124%, respectively. The mean AUC(0-48CPR)/AUC(0-48ENR) ratio was 0.20 and 0.16 after IV and IM administration, respectively, in premature calves. The results showed that ENR (10 mg/kg) and DNX (8 mg/kg) following IV and IM administration produced sufficient plasma concentration for AUC(0-24)/minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and maximum concentration (C-max)/MIC ratios for susceptible bacteria, with the MIC90 of 0.5 and 0.03 mu g/ml, respectively. These findings may be helpful in planning the dosage regimen for ENR and DNX, but there is a need for further study in naturally infected premature calves.

WOS: 000493122800003, The aim of this study was to determine the changes of the biomarkers used for the diagnosis of necrotising enterocolitis of human neonates in premature calves with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Novel biomarkers including the intestinal fatty acid binding protein (IFABP), the liver-type FABP (LFABP), trefoil factor-3 (TFF3), actin gamma 2 smooth muscle (ACTG2), and Claudin-3 were investigated using bovine specific ELISA kits. Thirty premature calves with respiratory distress syndrome (the RDS group), seven premature calves without RDS (the non-RDS group), and seven healthy calves (control) were included in the study. Blood samples from all the groups were taken at 0 and 48 h for the blood gas and biomarker measurement. It was determined that IFABP (P < 0.05), LFABP (P < 0.05), TFF3 (P < 0.05), ACTG2 (P < 0.05), and Claudin-3 (P < 0.05) in the control group were significantly higher than those in the RDS and non-RDS groups at 0 hour. The LFABP and Claudin-3 concentrations in the control group were statistically higher (P < 0.05) than those in the RDS and non-RDS groups at 48 h, whereas the ACTG2 and TFF3 contents were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than the non-RDS group. Elektrokardiyografi bulguları sürekli polimorfik ventriküler taşikardi'yi gösterdi. Kardiyak hasar şüphesi kardiyak troponin I (cTnI), kreatin kinaz- MB (CK-MB) ve kreatin fosfokinaz (CPK) düzeylerindeki artışla doğrulandı., Sustained polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is a type of ventricular dysrhythmias which originated from more than one focus in ventricle and may lead to fatal arrhythmias like as ventricular fibrillation and sudden death. A seven days old female Holstein calve was referred to the Large Animals Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Selcuk University with a history of sudden collapse. Electrocardiography examination showed sustained polymorphic ventricular tachycardia. Cardiac damage suspicion confirmed by elevation in serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI), creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) and creatine phosphokinase (CPK) concentrations as cardiac damage enzymes.
