A study was conducted in a peri-urban community near Chandigarh, India, to assess the prevalence of skin disorders. The study found that fungal infections were the most common diagnosed skin disease, followed by psoriasis, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, and vitiligo. Allergies and itching were the most common self-reported skin complaints. The study also revealed that a significant number of participants were not seeking medical treatment for their skin problems. The findings suggest a need for increased access to dermatological care in rural and peri-urban areas. [Extracted from the article]

Due to upsurge of non-communicable disease (NCD) burden, there is accentuated emphasis on task sharing and shifting NCDs-related health care delivery to non-physician healthcare workers especially nursing personnel and grass root level health professionals. This narrative review summates role of non-physician health workers, highlights various enablers and challenges while engaging them in delivery of NCD services so as to prevent and control various NCDs in India. Pubmed, Google scholar databases were searched using various keywords and Mesh terminologies. In addition, reference lists of selected articles were also screened. It is concluded that with regular update of knowledge, training, and supervision, these workers can efficiently deliver promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative NCD-related healthcare services to needy. While engagement of this workforce in NCDs mitigation is a transforming concept, it also has its own challenges and issues which need to be explored and addressed in order to utilize this human resource to their maximum potential. The coverage of vaccination was more in rural area (87.1%) than that of urban area (85.2%) as per DLHS-4 in Chandigarh.[[2]] The present study showed 100% immunization coverage for all vaccines. These results were similar to the study conducted in rural area of Bangalore which showed that 85.4% mothers had positive attitude regarding immunization.[[5]] In conclusion, the study showed 100% immunization coverage of under-5 children. Introduction: Play is a vital component of child's physical, emotional, social and mental health. All children have right to be included in recreational activities including play. It is the responsibility of the nurses and the physicians to ensure that the child right to care is protected. It includes the child's need to grow, play and learn during their hospitalization. Objective- 1) To identify the barriers and facilitators related to play among children in the hospital setting of a Tertiary Care Centre, North India. 2) To seek the remedial measures suggested by health care personnel to increase opportunities of play. Methodology: After obtaining consent from in charge of the units included in study, overt participatory observations were made and focused group discussion were conducted with HCPs (nurses and doctors) and caregivers. Result: thematic analysis was done, themes and subthemes were generated. Observations related to opportunities of play in paediatric wards/OPD include no policy, no resources and no fixed duration ofplay. Playrooms and toys were available at certain places but they were underutilized due to poor attitude of health care personnel towards play. Major barriers were less efforts and motivation from staff, faculty, administration and government. Hospital are totally dependent on NGO for play; inappropriate staff- patient ratio and HCP were more focussed towards right to survival rather than right to play. The facilitator includes active participation to inculcate play in units by only few (one/two) physicians/nurses. Suggestions provided included increase accessibility of play materials, need to motivate the staff, reduce fear of white apron, reduce screen time, and need of protocol to conduct fixed play sessions in wards. Conclusion: There are concrete barriers and limited facilitators. There is a need to incorporate the suggested measures to tackle barriers in order to make the hospital setup play friendly. Background & objectives: The safety of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine is a cause of concern for many who have been vaccinated. The people have multiple concerns and fear regarding the adverse events of the vaccine. Thus, this study was undertaken to establish the safety profile of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus Vaccine (Recombinant) among the healthcare professionals. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional survey. After taking clearance from the institutional ethics committee 1500 healthcare professionals, who had their vaccination in the past two weeks were selected. They were provided with an online survey proforma regarding adverse events following immunization (AEFIs) of COVID-19 vaccine developed using google forms with an informed consent form affixed to it. Results: A total of 1036 individuals participated in the study. The mean and median (inter quartile range) age of the participants was 37.7 ±11.25 and 35 (29-46) yr, respectively. Of these, 52.1 per cent were female, 29.3 per cent were doctors, 33.4 per cent were nurses and 9.5 per cent were paramedical staff. Forty six per cent participants experienced one or more minor AEFIs such as pain, tenderness, redness, etc. at the injection site. Fatigue (31.75%), generalized feeling of unwell (28.57%), muscle pain (23.16%) and fever (21.71%) were the most commonly reported systemic AEFIs followed by headache (20.07%), dizziness (10.03%) and joint pains (15.25%). Most of them experienced these AEFIs within 24 h of the first dose of administration. About 42 per cent of the participants took oral antipyretics/analgesics for managing the AEFIs. Interpretation & conclusions: ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus Vaccine was found to be associated with mild local and systemic AEFIs that were more common after the first dose as compared to the second dose. The idea of this survey was to generate data on Indian population so that the prople of the country may make an informed decision on vaccination practices as the observation was a low incidence of vaccine-related adverse events.
