Psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) has shown preliminary efficacy for psychiatric and physical health conditions. Although some people report naturalistic psychedelic use with so-called “underground” practitioners, little is known about PAT that occurs outside of controlled clinical settings or perspectives of these practitioners. We conducted an anonymous online survey of individuals who reported providing psychedelic support services (e.g. trip sitting and/or preparatory/follow-up psychotherapy) in naturalistic settings. We investigated demographics, including education and licensing, details about services provided, and reported client outcomes. Among 107 participants, 40.2% held a full or in-progress license and 44.9% had not obtained a relevant graduate degree. Almost all participants reported pre-screening clients before treatment, offering preparation, integration, and trip-sitting services, and most employed a range of therapeutic modalities, centering primarily on non-directive approaches. Participants reported that clients most commonly consumed psilocybin, and treated numerous conditions, primarily aligning with indications targeted in psychedelic clinical research. Perceptions of clients’ symptom changes were largely positive, although a small proportion reported worsened personality disorder symptoms. Further research delineating client and practitioner perspectives of naturalistic PAT services is warranted, and such work may shed light on the benefits and risks specific to naturalistic PAT as well as inform best practices for practitioners. Background Among the main barriers that prevent people with disabilities from seeking help and support are negative attitudes of society in general and health care professionals in particular. However, only a few studies looked into the attitudes of health care providers toward people with disabilities in Saudi Arabia. This study aimed to investigate the attitudes of health care providers in relation to people with disabilities. Participants and Methods The attitudes toward disabled persons (ATDP) scale was administered among n = 1,033 health care providers in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The data were analyzed using JASP version 19 and Orange 3.26.0. Demographic data were analyzed using dummy encoding. Results The mean ATDP score for 1,033 respondents was 58.03 (p = 0.000). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that respondents aged 24 to 25 years have significantly less positive attitudes, compared to participants aged 18 to 20 years (p = 0.004). No sufficient evidence was found whether marital status significantly affects attitudes toward people with disabilities. In contrast, participants with three or more children have a significantly (p = 0.014) less positive attitude compared to those who do not have children. Conclusion This study found that, overall, health care professionals had slightly negative attitudes, according to the ATDP scale. However, younger respondents and those without children were more positive. Future research is recommended to collect more data on the significance of having children and its association with attitudes toward disabilities. Objective Methods Results Conclusion To study the impact of respectful maternity care (RMC) training of health care providers on RMC and birth satisfaction in mothers undergoing normal vaginal birth.A prospective interventional study was performed comparing RMC and birth satisfaction in women undergoing vaginal births before and after RMC training of health care providers from November 2021 to March 2023 in a tertiary care center in India. Person‐centered maternity care (PCMC) and birth satisfaction scale‐revised (BSSR) scales were used to study women's RMC and birth satisfaction, respectively.A total of 100 women undergoing normal vaginal birth were enrolled in pre‐ and post‐intervention phases. The intervention was done through formal and onsite training of health care providers in RMC. The mean total PCMC scale score in the post‐training group demonstrated a remarkable increase to 51.95 ± 6.50, significantly higher than the pre‐training mean of 32.82 ± 8.47 (P < 0.0001). The mean ± SD of the BSSR scale total score in the post‐training group increased significantly to 27.17 ± 3.67, surpassing the pre‐training mean of 21.19 ± 5.48 (P < 0.0001).The study showed significant improvement in RMC and birth satisfaction score in the post‐training group thereby emphasizing the importance of RMC training of health care providers in the facility. Background: Health care providers (HCPs) caring for autistic children report more perceived psychological and emotional distress related to their job. However, not much is known about what can be done to mitigate such distress, especially in countries with limited mental health resources, such as Jordan. Objective: This study aimed to examine the association between coping strategies (problem-focused, emotion-focused, and avoidant) and perceived emotional and psychological distress among HCPs of autistic children in Jordan. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a convenience sample of 180 HCPs working with autistic children in Jordan were recruited through autism centers and social media using an online self-administered questionnaire. Results: The multiple linear regression analysis revealed that 31% of the variability in perceived emotional distress was explained by its significant association with problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping, and avoidant coping. Likewise, 39% of the variability in perceived psychological distress was explained by its significant association with gender, having an immediate family, area of specialty, problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping, and avoidant coping. Conclusions: The study shows that problem-focused coping significantly decreases perceived emotional distress, whereas emotion-focused and avoidant coping significantly increase perceived emotional distress. Avoidant coping significantly increases perceived psychological distress. Understanding the association between coping strategies and perceived emotional and psychological distress among HCPs can assist mental health nurses in identifying at-risk providers and providing timely emotional and psychological support. Background: Access and use of contraception services by adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) remains suboptimal, exposing AGYW to early and often unexpected pregnancy. Unexpected pregnancies are a public health concern, associated with poor neonatal and maternal health outcomes, as well as school dropout, which may result in economic hardships. This study aimed to explore (a) AGYW perceptions and experiences of receiving contraception services from health care providers and (b) health care providers' perceptions and experiences of providing contraception services to AGYW. Methods: Data were collected through semi-structured individual interviews with AGYW aged 15–24 years old and health care providers working in eight health care facilities around the Cape Town metropolitan area, in South Africa's Western Cape Province. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. Results: AGYW and health care providers voiced varying, and often contrasting, perceptions of some of the barriers that hinder AGYW's access to contraception services. AGYW indicated that provider-imposed rules about when to access contraceptive services hindered access, while health care providers felt that these rules were necessary for coordinating their work. In addition, AGYW highlighted health care providers' hostile attitudes towards them as an important factor discouraging access. On the contrary, health care providers did not think that their attitudes hampered AGYW's access to and use of contraception services, instead they emphasised that challenges at the health system level were a major issue, which they feel they have little control over. Such challenges made health care providers' work unpleasant and frustrating, impacting on their work approach and how they receive and offer services to AGYW. Conclusion: The expectation of negative attitudes from health care providers continues to be at the centre of AGYW discouragement towards accessing contraception services. System challenges are among some of the key drivers of health care provider's hostile attitudes, posing challenges to the efficient provision of services. In order to improve AGYW's access to and use of contraception services, and subsequently achieve the country's SDGs, conscious efforts need to be directed towards improving the workload and working conditions of health care providers. Background: In the United States (U.S.), racially minoritized people have higher rates of cervical cancer morbidity and mortality compared to white individuals as a result of racialized structural, social, economic, and health care inequities. However, cervical cancer screening guidelines are based on studies of predominately white individuals and do not substantially discuss or address racialized cervical cancer inequities and their social determinants, including racism. Methods: We conducted in-depth interviews with health care providers (N = 30) and key informants with expertise in health equity (N = 18). We utilized semi-structured interview guides that addressed providers' views and experiences delivering cervical cancer screening to racially minoritized individuals and key informants' recommendations for advancing racial equity in the development and implementation of cervical cancer screening guidelines. Interviews were analyzed using a template style thematic analysis approach involving deductive and inductive coding, memo writing, and matrix analysis for theme development. Results: Most health care providers adopted a universal, one-size-fits-all approach to cervical cancer screening with the stated goal of ensuring racial equality. Despite frequently acknowledging the existence of racialized cervical cancer inequities, few providers recognized the role of social inequities in influencing them, and none discussed the impact of racism. In contrast, key informants overwhelmingly recommended that providers adopt an approach to cervical cancer screening and follow-up care that recognizes the role of racism in shaping racialized cervical cancer and related social inequities, is developed in partnership with racially minoritized communities, and involves person-centered, structurally-competent, and trauma-informed practices that address racially minoritized peoples' unique lived experiences in historical and social context. This racism-conscious approach is not to be confused with race-based medicine, which is an essentialist and racist approach to health care that treats race as a biological variable rather than as a social and political construct. Conclusions: Developers and implementers of cervical cancer screening guidelines should explicitly recognize and address the impact of racism on cervical cancer screening, follow-up care, and outcomes, meaningfully incorporate racially minoritized communities' perspectives and experiences, and facilitate provider- and institutional-level practices that foster racial equity in cervical cancer. This is a cross-sectional study based on mix-research-design that addresses Knowledge, management of symptoms of trauma and copping strategies applied by health care providers to handle their own trauma at Blue Nile state Al-Damazine Hospitals after the incident of an abrupt conflict that left behind a lot of victims. Data was obtained from 34 participants by questionnaire with open-close ended questions developed by the researcher. The quantitative questions were analyzed using SPSS version 18 while the quantitative data was analyzed using the thematic analysis technique. The main results reveal that the health care providers indicated disparity of knowledge about trauma, have poor management for the symptoms of trauma but developed-self-coping strategies which they adopted to overcome trauma. The study recommends raising the knowledge of the health care providers about mental health in general with sessions about trauma in particular as well as establishing standard system of mental health care precautions during the crisis. Introduction Burnout has been widely studied among oncology health care providers such as nurses and doctors. However, it is a less explored but highly prevalent factor in family caregivers of patients with cancer. Objective The study aimed to understand the construct of burnout among health care providers and family caregivers of patients with cancer, through three objectives: (1) to distinguish burnout between health care providers and family caregivers; (2) to predict burnout based on measurable characteristics, namely, perceived stress, psychological morbidity, well-being, problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping, and avoidant coping; and (3) to find out the levels of burnout (low, medium, and high) in health care providers and family caregivers. Materials and Methods It is a cross-sectional study conducted among the health care providers and family caregivers of patients with cancer. The measures used in the study were the Professional Quality of Life scale, 12-Item General Health Questionnaire, Perceived Stress Scale, 5-Item World Health Organization Well-Being Index, Brief COPE inventory, and a sociodemographic details form. Results The study found a statistically significant difference in the mean burnout of health care providers (p = 0.027) and family caregivers. Study variables such as perceived stress and avoidant coping positively predicted burnout, whereas well-being and emotion-focused coping negatively predicted burnout. The study also found that a majority of the participants fell into the category of "medium" level of burnout. Conclusion While enhancing well-being and employing adaptive coping styles can act as the mitigating factors to burnout, the existence of stress and maladaptive styles of coping can prove counterproductive in dealing with burnout in work environments. Purpose - To assess the proportion of Health Care Providers (HCPs) in Sokoto practicing Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) in their various health facilities and identify barriers to KMC practice among HCPs in Sokoto. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the extent of KMC adoption and uncover the obstacles that hinder its effective implementation. Design/methods/approach - A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 80 Health Care Providers (HCPs) who attended the World Prematurity Day celebration in 2022. The program was held at the Medical and Health Workers Union office, Tamaje, Sokoto, on December 2, 2022. A structured questionnaire comprising both open and close-ended questions was used. Data obtained were analyzed using SPSS version 25. Findings - The mean age of the HCPs was 32.9±7.6 years, with the majority, 30 (37.5%), having less than five years of working experience. Of the 80 respondents, 41 (51.3%) were nurses, 9 (11.2%) were doctors, and 16 (20.0%) were midwives. Forty-three (53.7%) of the HCPs practiced KMC. The most common barriers to implementing KMC among the HCPs were lack of privacy for the mothers (23, 28.8%), lack of space for the mothers (21, 26.3%), cultural reasons (19, 23.8%), and lack of skills on KMC (16, 20.0%). The factors associated with the practice of KMC were previous training on KMC and working in tertiary hospitals (p<0.05). Research implications/limitations - This research implies that to mitigate barriers to KMC practice in hospitals, HCPs need to be trained to acquire skills for KMC, and rooms for KMC that ensure privacy for mothers should be available in health facilities. Practical implications -By identifying and addressing the barriers to KMC, such as lack of privacy, space, and skills, health facilities can improve the adoption and effectiveness of KMC practices. Originality/value - Kangaroo Mother Care reduces morbidity and mortality in Low Birth Weight (LBW) infants, making it crucial for countries with scarce resources to adopt this practice. Background: Violence against women (VAW) is a significant public health problem. With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the frequency and severity of VAW has escalated globally. Approximately one in four women in Nepal have been exposed to either physical, psychological, and/or sexual violence in their lifetime, with husbands or male partners being the perpetrators in most cases. VAW prevention has been under-researched in low- and middle-income countries, including Nepal. This study aims to explore the perspectives of local stakeholders, including healthcare providers and survivors of violence in Madhesh Province. The overarching goal is to provide insights for designing prevention and support programs that are acceptable to communities and cater to the needs of survivors. Methods: An explorative qualitative study was conducted in Madhesh Province, southern Nepal. A total of 21 interviews, including 15 in-depth interviews (IDIs) with health care providers, three IDIs with women seeking general or maternal and child health services at health care centres, three key informant interviews with the local stakeholders working in the field of VAW, and one focus group discussion with violence survivors, were conducted in Nepali by trained field interviewers. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, translated into English, and analysed using content analysis. Results: VAW, particularly physical violence, was a common experience in the study area. Sociocultural traditions such as dowry, child marriages and son preference were identifiable triggers for VAW, causing significant physical injuries and mental health problems, including suicide. Health care providers reported that violence survivors often hide their experiences of violence and do not seek any kind of help. Women feared that violence would increase in frequency and intensity if their perpetrators found out that they had disclosed their experiences of violence to health care providers. Local stakeholders emphasized the importance of engaging community leaders and garnering support from both women and men in interventions designed to reduce VAW and its impacts on mental health. Conclusions: Participants reported that verbal and physical violence is often perceived as a normal part of women's lives. Women should be made aware of available support services and empowered and supported to increase access and uptake of these services. Additionally, more individual-based counselling sessions that encourage women to escape violence and its mental health consequences while maintaining privacy and confidentiality are recommended. Medical professionals face high stress due to the type of work they do and the prolonged working hours. Frequent burnout results due to the challenging nature of their work. Added to the stress of work, malpractice lawsuits add to their burden. In India, most doctors work in compromised settings with poor infrastructure and manpower but are expected to follow the best practices. In court, they are judged with the Bolam and Bolitho tests being essential considerations. Several tragic incidents have been reported, including depression, anger issues, and even suicide deaths of healthcare professionals (HCPs) after accusations of negligence and subsequent inquiry. Such incidents demonstrate the multitude of challenges an HCP faces in day-to-day practice. It is crucial to find ways to tackle these problems and enhance the capacity of HCP to handle such demanding circumstances. Malpractice litigation can significantly impact the mental health of HCPs. It is common to experience emotional turmoil when faced with a lawsuit. Second victim syndrome (SVS) is a term used to describe a set of symptoms experienced by HCPs who make an error leading to injury to a patient. However, it also happens if he is traumatized by the consequences of violence during healthcare services or a lawsuit or defamation article in newspaper/social media. Following a litigation crisis in their career, many HCPs go through various stages of grief, including shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. At times, death by suicide of the HCPs is well known. SVS is known to profoundly affect the personal, family, economic, professional (defensive practice), and social life of HCPs. HCPs should accept the allegations of negligence as an occupational hazard and prepare for the eventual litigation at least once in a lifetime by knowing about the medical laws, HCP's rights, becoming aware of the emotional turmoil of the lawsuit, preparing to cope with the lawsuit, and seeking help from colleagues and indemnity insurance. Frequent training of the HCPs is strongly recommended to know about the changing laws and also to undergo periodic professional competence enhancement to reduce the incidents of errors amounting to medical negligence. Medical and hospital administration should debrief after any incident and conduct internal investigations to identify systemic flaws and prevent future recurrence, resolve issues within their control at their level, and manage media (mainstream and social media) appropriately. If established, a reporting system with online and offline services will ease the internal administrative investigation process and take appropriate, timely actions. Background: Digital health care services have the potential to improve access to sexual and reproductive health care for youth but require substantial implementation efforts to translate into individual and public health gains. Health care providers are influential both regarding implementation and utilization of the services, and hence, their perceptions of digital health care services and the implementation process are essential to identify and address. The aim of this study was to explore midwives' perception of digital sexual and reproductive health care services for youth, and to identify perceived barriers and facilitators of the implementation of digital health care provision in youth clinics. Methods: We performed semi-structured interviews with midwives (n = 16) working at youth clinics providing both on-site and digital sexual and reproductive health care services to youth in Stockholm, Sweden. Interview data were analyzed using a content analysis approach guided by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR). Results: Midwives acknowledged that the implementation of digital health care improved the overall access and timeliness of the services at youth clinics. The ability to accommodate the needs of youth regarding their preferred meeting environment (digital or on-site) and easy access to follow-up consultations were identified as benefits of digital health care. Challenges to provide digital health care included communication barriers, privacy and confidentiality concerns, time constraints, inability to offer digital appointments for social counselling, and midwives' preference for in person consultations. Experiencing organizational support during the implementation was appreciated but varied between the respondents. Conclusion: Digital sexual and reproductive health care services could increase access and are valuable complements to on-site services in youth clinics. Sufficient training for midwives and organizational support are crucial to ensure high quality health care. Privacy and safety concerns for the youth might aggravate implementation of digital health care. This article examines the role of individual, facility and system-level preparedness in reducing physiological and psychological vulnerability among primary-level health care providers (HCPs) during the COVID-19 pandemic in Rajasthan, India. Online and telephonic interviews are conducted among 274 HCPs working in 24 primary health centres (PHCs) (17 rural and 7 urban) across 13 districts of Rajasthan. Five dimensions of vulnerability, covering awareness, exposure to infection (daily contact; contact with high-risk individuals), physical and mental health conditions, while three aspects of preparedness—at individual (personal care) and facility (provider safety; management and supervision) level—are measured by employing factor analysis. Generalised ordered logit regression model is used to measure the effect of preparedness on COVID-19-related vulnerability. Among the 274 HCPs, majority of the staff are from rural PHCs (76%), less than 35 years old (87%), female (57%) and married (57%). Almost half have high level of exposure to COVID-19, with mean contact rate of 90. Overall, 26% have comprehensive knowledge of COVID-19, and 32% have any mental health issues. Although more than 70% of HCPs have reported more than one individual-level preparedness, mental health measures adopted by the HCPs are comparably low. The facility-level preparedness for enhancing safety is high such as social distancing (79%) and maintaining record of each visitor (75%). However, management-related measures adopted by the PHCs are perceived to be lower than the safety measures. The regression analyses suggest that safety-related preparedness is significantly associated with reduction of vulnerability by 50%. The management-level preparedness has statistically no significant effect in explaining the variations in level of vulnerability. The facility-level safety measures, which lower chances of acquiring infection, have a positive effect on reducing vulnerability to COVID-19. However, the HCPs do not have adequate preparedness at individual, facility management (PHC) and system levels to reduce COVID-19 vulnerability. Findings suggest that there is a need for a non-conventional approach of monitoring and supervision. Context: As per the national policy, two doses of COVID‑19 vaccine at least four weeks apart were available for administration to all HCW’s since January 2021. A small proportion of individuals will contract COVID‑19 despite complete vaccination. Healthcare workers (Health Care Providers) represent a very high‑risk group for contracting COVID‑19 infection. Aim: To determine the breakthrough infection rate of COVID‑19 among vaccinated healthcare providers and students. Methodology: The present cross‑sectional study was conducted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur from August to December 2022. The sample size of 308 was achieved through proportionate stratified sampling among different cadres of employees working at the institute. Statistical Analysis: Chi‑square test was used for significance. Fischer’s Exact test was used wherever necessary. A P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Strength of the association was estimated using odds ratio. Results: The mean (SD) age of participants in our study was 29.26 (±8.64) years. Prevalence of COVID breakthrough infection was found to be 28.25% [95% CI: 23–33]. It was found that those participants having one or more co‑morbidities and are directly involved in COVID patient care were likely to suffer more from COVID‑19 breakthrough infection. Conclusion: Predictors of COVID‑19 breakthrough infection found to be a presence of one or more co‑morbidities, direct involvement with COVID‑19 patients and not observing respiratory hygiene. There is increased risk among participants with comorbidities and involving directly in patient care. Therefore, it is recommended that vaccine policy needs to focus on high‑risk group. Background: Tuberculosis (TB) preventive treatment (TPT) substantially reduces the risk of developing active TB for people living with HIV (PLHIV). We utilized a novel implementation strategy based on choice architecture (CAT) which makes TPT prescribing the default option. Through CAT, health care workers (HCWs) need to "opt-out" when choosing not to prescribe TPT to PLHIV. We assessed the prospective, concurrent, and retrospective acceptability of TPT prescribing among HCWs in Malawi who worked in clinics participating in a cluster randomized trial of the CAT intervention. Methods: 28 in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with HCWs from control (standard prescribing approach) and intervention (CAT approach) clinics. The CAT approach was facilitated in intervention clinics using a default prescribing module built into the point-of-care HIV Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. An interview guide for the qualitative CAT assessment was developed based on the theoretical framework of acceptability and on the normalization process theory. Thematic analysis was used to code the data, using NVivo 12 software. Results: We identified eight themes belonging to the three chronological constructs of acceptability. HCWs expressed no tension for changing the standard approach to TPT prescribing (prospective acceptability); however, those exposed to CAT described several advantages, including that it served as a reminder to prescribe TPT and routinized TPT prescribing (concurrent acceptability). Some felt that CAT may reduce HCW´s autonomy and might lead to inappropriate TPT prescribing (retrospective acceptability). Conclusions: The default prescribing module for TPT has now been incorporated into the point-of-care EMR system nationally in Malawi. This seems to fit the acceptability of the HCWs. Moving forward, it is important to train HCWs on how the EMR can be leveraged to determine who is eligible for TPT and who is not, while acknowledging the autonomy of HCWs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Machine learning based clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) have been proposed as a means of advancing personalized treatment planning for disorders, such as depression, that have a multifaceted etiology, course, and symptom profile. However, machine learning based models for treatment selection are rare in the field of psychiatry. They have also not yet been translated for use in clinical practice. Understanding key stakeholder attitudes toward machine learning based CDSSs is critical for developing plans for their implementation that promote uptake by both providers and families. Methods: In Study 1, a prototype machine learning based Clinical Decision Support System for Youth Depression (CDSS-YD) was demonstrated to focus groups of adolescents with a diagnosis of depression (n = 9), parents (n = 11), and behavioral health providers (n = 8). Qualitative analysis was used to assess their attitudes towards the CDSS-YD. In Study 2, behavioral health providers were trained in the use of the CDSS-YD and they utilized the CDSS-YD in a clinical encounter with 6 adolescents and their parents as part of their treatment planning discussion. Following the appointment, providers, parents, and adolescents completed a survey about their attitudes regarding the use of the CDSS-YD. Results: All stakeholder groups viewed the CDSS-YD as an easy to understand and useful tool for making personalized treatment decisions, and families and providers were able to successfully use the CDSS-YD in clinical encounters. Parents and adolescents viewed their providers as having a critical role in the use the CDSS-YD, and this had implications for the perceived trustworthiness of the CDSS-YD. Providers reported that clinic productivity metrics would be the primary barrier to CDSS-YD implementation, with the creation of protected time for training, preparation, and use as a key facilitator. Background: The rapid advancement of technology has led to a concurrent advancement of telemedicine, that is the delivery of medical services over a long distance using technological methods. The consistently growing numbers of COVID-19 cases warranted the use of telemedicine as an alternative method of care-delivery. This study aims to evaluate perceptions of healthcare services provided virtually among healthcare providers (HCPs) in Kuwait and to assess their acceptance and intention to implement such services. Methods: An exploratory mixed methods design was conducted, where in phase one HCPs' perceptions towards telemedicine were explored through an online questionnaire and the quantitative data were summarized by descriptive analysis using SPSS. Scores for usefulness and for attitude toward the use of telemedicine were calculated. Then semi-structured interviews were conducted in phase two and the qualitative data were analyzed thematically. Results: In phase one, 421 HCPs answered the questionnaire. In terms of telemedicine knowledge, 15.4% of HCPs had previously used telemedicine technology and 39% already knew about it. Additionally, 42.3% preferred to use telemedicine, and 88.5% had a moderate to high usefulness score. Telemedicine's ease of use was perceived positively. Attitude median score was 73 with an IQR of 16 (63–79). Half of the participants intend to use telemedicine. In phase two, twenty-two interviews were conducted resulting in six themes; HCPs' acceptance of telemedicine, facilitators and motives for telemedicine implementation, skills and training required to conduct telemedicine, barriers limiting the use of telemedicine, strategies to overcome the barriers, and benefits of telemedicine. Conclusion: Most of the HCPs favor telemedicine integration into Kuwait's healthcare system as their perceptions of telemedicine were overall positive, paving the way to develop implementation strategies. Introduction: Health numeracy (numerical literacy) refers to an individual's ability to use numerical information to make effective health decisions. Numeracy is fundamental in the role of a health care provider, forming the basis of evidence-based medicine and effective patient-provider communication. Despite a high level of education, many health care providers struggle with numeracy. Numeracy is often integrated into training curricula; however, teaching modality, competencies covered, learner satisfaction, and effectiveness of these educational interventions varies. Method: A scoping review was conducted to explore and summarize what is known about numeracy skills education programs for health care providers. A comprehensive literature search was conducted from January 2010 to April 2021 in 10 databases. Controlled vocabulary terms and text words were used. The search was restricted to human studies, adults, and the English language. Articles were included if they were related to numeracy education for health care providers or trainees and provided details regarding methods, evaluation, and results. Results: The literature search retrieved 31,611 results and 71 met the inclusion criteria. Most interventions were conducted in a university setting, and targeted nursing students, medical students, resident physicians, and pharmacy students. Common numeracy concepts included statistics/biostatistics, medication calculations, evidence-based medicine, research methodology, and epidemiology. A variety of teaching modalities were used, which most often combined active approaches (eg, workshops, laboratories, small-group exercises, and discussion boards) with passive approaches (eg, traditional lectures and didactic teaching). Measured outcomes included knowledge and skills, self-efficacy, attitudes, and engagement. Discussion: Although efforts have been made to incorporate numeracy into training curricula, greater emphasis should be placed on developing strong numeracy skills in health care providers, particularly given the role numerical information plays in clinical decision making, evidence-based practices, and patient-provider communication. Introduction: With wider adoption of store-and-forward telemedicine accelerating, particularly post-coronavirus disease 2019, it is essential to understand health care providers' (HCPs) satisfaction with digital solutions offered by telemedicine organizations to (continuously) guarantee service quality. We developed the Store-and-Forward Telemedicine Service User-satisfaction Questionnaire to monitor and assess HCPs' experiences with contracted telemedicine organizations. Methods: Questionnaire construction (phase 1) consisted of exploratory literature search on validated telemedicine satisfaction questionnaires, a telemedicine domain and human factors expert focus group, stakeholder focus group (customer service employee and telemedicine account managers), and two pre-testing rounds among 18 HCPs. The pilot questionnaire (phase 2) was sent to 2179 HCPs for validity and reliability assessment. Results: Phase 1: Two validated questionnaires (73 items overall) were used as input for Store-and-Forward Telemedicine Service User-satisfaction Questionnaire. Revisions resulted in 61 items. Phase 2: the pilot 61-item Store-and-Forward Telemedicine Service User-satisfaction Questionnaire instrument was completed by 181 of 2179 invited HCPs. Forty-one mandatory items of the pilot Store-and-Forward Telemedicine Service User-satisfaction Questionnaire rated on a 5-point Likert scale were included in psychometric analyses and resulted in six reliable scales: training, communication, organization policy and strategy, interaction platform, usage platform, and working conditions. Discussion: The Store-and-Forward Telemedicine Service User-satisfaction Questionnaire is a reliable and valid questionnaire for measuring HCPs' satisfaction with store-and-forward telemedicine services as part of a continuous quality improvement cycle. Reimbursement questions were excluded due to low response. As adoption of telemedicine may be impeded by financial compensation issues, this requires consideration in future telemedicine questionnaires. Introduction: Women often experience breastfeeding difficulties leading to premature supplementation and cessation. Implementing evidence-informed eHealth resources in clinical interactions with health care providers (HCPs), both in the health department and hospitals throughout a health region may help address this longstanding clinical issue. However, the provision of an eHealth resource alone is not sufficient to increase breastfeeding rates and health literacy, as the effective implementation of the eHealth resource in clinical practice is required. As such, our study objective was to conduct a needs assessment with HCPs to determine the barriers, facilitators, and perceived acceptability of the eHealth resource. Methods: A non-experimental descriptive study was used to examine HCPs' perceptions of barriers and facilitators to the implementation of an eHealth resource in clinical settings. HCPs completed an online questionnaire to determine barriers and facilitators informed by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR). Results: HCPs (n=44) completed the survey and agreed the resource was credible (86%), up to date (84%), covered relevant topics (91%), would ease their ability to provide breastfeeding education (82%), and would increase consistent messaging (86%). They agreed it would increase parents' breastfeeding health literacy (91%) and help parents meet their breastfeeding goals (86%). Concerns were expressed regarding how this would be used in clinical interactions due to challenges with navigation, searchability, and the large amount of content. Implications and Conclusion: HCPs rated the eHealth resource highly; however, adaptations to the local context are required. For effective implementation of interventions in clinical settings, HCPs' perceptions should be explored to determine their specific needs and determine how to best adapt the intervention to their setting to increase acceptability and facilitate use in clinical interactions. Background: Outreach efforts were developed to bolster people's access to and use of immunization services in underserved populations. However, there have been multiple outbreaks of diseases like measles in Uganda, prompting policy makers and stakeholders to ask many unanswered questions. This research study was created to uncover the discrepancies between vaccine management practices at immunization outreach sessions in rural South Western Uganda compared with existing standards. Methods: The observational qualitative study, was done in 16 public health facilities across four districts of Uganda. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, facility record reviews, and observation. We assessed the vaccine management procedures before immunization session, transportation used, set up at the outreach site, management practices during the outreach session and packing of vaccines - according to World Health Organization immunization practice recommendations. The data were transcribed, coded and categories were formed and triangulated. Themes were generated based on a socio-ecologic framework to gain a better understanding of healthcare provider practices during immunization sessions. Results: Fifty-one individuals were interviewed; four Assistant District Health Officers, four cold chain technicians, 15 focal persons for the Expanded Program on Immunization, and 28 health care providers. The respondents' mean age was 35, 43 (84.3%) were females and 24 (47.1%) had a diploma. 11 (69%) outreaches were conducted at a distance of 5-12 km from the health facility and 7 (44%) were conducted in a building. For 8 outreaches (50%) health facility staff did not check the vaccine vial monitor status before the outreach while 12(75%) did not keep the vaccine hard lid cover closed during the sessions. The main areas of concern were insufficient vaccine integrity monitoring, improper handling and storage practices, deficient documentation, and inadequate vaccine transportation. These were similar across immunization outreach sites regardless of vaccine preventable disease outbreaks occurrences. The majority of these gaps were located at the individual level but were enabled by policy/environmental factors. Conclusions: There are poor vaccine management procedures during outreach sessions contrary to established guidelines. Background: Healthcare providers are one of the main groups that contribute to the stigmatization of people with mental disorders. Apathy, accusation, fatalism, and morbid curiosity are the most common forms of stigmatization encountered, and these are associated with inadequate treatment, reduced treatment adherence, decreased help-seeking behavior, an increased risk of relapse, and complications with other medical conditions. The aim of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of an adapted Spanish version of the Opening Minds Stigma Scale (OMSHC) for healthcare providers in Mexico and identify certain stigmatizing attitudes within this group. Methods: An ex-post facto cross-sectional observational study was conducted with 556 healthcare providers in Mexico, with an average age of 29.7 years, who were mostly women (80.4%). Validity was examined through confirmatory factor analysis. Differences according to gender, discipline, occupation, and educational level were analyzed using multivariate methods. Results: The factor structure of the OMS-HC, consisting of three subscales identified by the original authors of the instrument (attitudes of healthcare providers towards people with mental illness, secrecy/help-seeking, and social distance), was confirmed. The model demonstrated good fit (x²/df = 2.36, RMSEA = 0.050, CFI = 0.970, TLI = 0.962, SRMR = 0.054, NFI = 0.950, PNFI = 0.742). Internal consistency was found to be adequate (α = 0.73, ω = 0.76) for the scale itself and slightly lower than acceptable for the subscales. Significant differences were found by discipline, educational level, and, for student providers, by academic semester. Higher scores were observed on the OMS-HC scale among nursing and medical professionals, undergraduate students, and those in early semesters. Conclusions: The Spanish version of the OMS-HC has demonstrated adequate psychometric properties and could be a useful tool to facilitate research on this topic in Mexico, and to carry out comparative studies with healthcare personnel in other Spanish-speaking countries. Sleep disorders are common in childhood and adolescence with mental and physical consequences needing appropriate intervention by caregivers and health care providers (HCPs). The objective of the study, conducted at a tertiary teaching hospital and public school in north India, was to develop validated questionnaires to evaluate childhood and adolescent sleep awareness in caregivers and HCPs. The study participants (caregivers represented by parents of 2-18 year olds attending a public school and of those attending outpatient services at the study hospital and HCPs represented by medical interns and nursing graduates within 1 year of graduation) were enrolled after appropriate screening. Two separate questionnaires in English for caregivers (also translated in Hindi) and HCPs were applied on 313 caregivers and 175 HCPs (110 medical interns and 65 nursing graduates) and developed and validated with a Cronbach α of 0.73 and 0.74, respectively. The questionnaires covered three domains: sleep hygiene, sleep related health problems, and miscellaneous. Both group of respondents had >50% correct responses in sleep hygiene. The ĸ agreement between knowledge and practice of sleep hygiene in caregivers was 0.2. Poor response (<50% correct responses) was seen in sleep-related health problems in both groups of respondents implying knowledge deficit in various sleep disorders. The HCPs performed poorly on basic theoretical questions in miscellaneous domain. For consultation of sleep problems, most caregivers (48%) chose pediatricians. This study aimed to identify factors influencing blood donation practices among healthcare providers in public hospitals in Bahir Dar City.Methods: This institution-based unmatched case-control study was conducted in Bahir Dar City Public Hospitals from May 01 to May 25, 2022. Total sample size was 491 (123 cases and 368 controls) and then the study subject was selected by using simple random sampling technic and collect data through self-administered questionnaire. Bi-variable and multi-variable binary logistic regression analyses were used to determine the association between dependent and independent variables. Finally, the results are presented in charts and tables, and the AOR and CI are reported. Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05.Results: Fear of anemia (adjusted odds ratio (AOR): 0.02; 95% CI 0.007– 0.078), lack of opportunity (AOR: 0.42; 95% CI 0.22– 0.83), lack of time (AOR: 0.03; 95% CI, 0.005– 0.199), profession (AOR: 0.15; 95% CI, 0.05– 0.42), aware of free medical checkup (AOR: 31.79; 95% CI 13.13– 76.94), willingness to donate blood (AOR: 5.09; 95% CI 2.25– 11.50), blood group type (AOR: 5.67; 95% CI 1.42– 22.68), and higher work experience (AOR: 7.99; 95% CI 2.59– 24.67) were found to be significantly associated with blood donation practice.Conclusion: This study revealed that multiple factors influenced the practice of blood donation among healthcare providers. Background and objectives: Health care professionals (HCPs) are well-positioned to discuss healthy behaviors during pregnancy, but the published research of prenatal healthcare providers' knowledge about the significance of nutrition during pregnancy in Lebanon is scarce. The purpose of this study was to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Lebanese prenatal healthcare providers towards nutrition during pregnancy. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study using an online questionnaire was conducted. Health care providers were contacted by phone and email to participate in the online survey. A list of all clinics providing antenatal health services was obtained from the Order of Physicians and the Order of Midwives. A multistage random sample was selected. In the first stage, it was stratified per region (Beirut center or suburbs, and the southern region). In the second phase, it was stratified per clinic type (private, primary healthcare center, or hospital). Gynecologists and midwives who are members of the Order of Physicians and the Order of Midwives (n = 1333), were included. Results: Two-hundred and six responses (55% males) were obtained. Approximately 44% of the HCP were aged 50 and older, and 68.4% had more than 10 years of work experience. HCPs from Beirut represented 41.3% of the respondents. Eighty-eight percent of the HCPs were physicians, and 11% were midwives. The majority of the participants considered nutrition during pregnancy to be very important. Furthermore, half of these participants considered their position in delivering nutrition information as very significant. Most of the respondents reported that they provide nutrition advice to pregnant women, and they also received nutrition education during their profession. However, they perceived their nutrition knowledge as inadequate. Conclusion: Health care providers' attitude towards the importance of maternal nutrition and their confidence in talking about nutrition-related topics with pregnant women were positive despite the lack of knowledge in several areas related to nutrition during pregnancy. Therefore, there is a need for continuing nutrition education for health care providers and the implementation of nutrition education programs to achieve better health outcomes. Little is known regarding the specific discussions health care providers (HCP) have with their patients and how these discussions may increase rates of HIV/STI screening. The main objective of this study was to examine the content of HCP-patient discussions and associations with HIV/STI screening while adjusting for patient characteristics. Using the 2017–2019 National Survey of Family Growth data, seven survey-weighted multivariable multinomial/binary logistic regression models were analyzed in men ages 15–49 years old (N = 4260). Patients had significantly higher odds of a lifetime HIV test when their HCP asked about number of sexual partners (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 2.325; 95% CI 1.379–3.919) and discussed HIV/AIDS (aOR = 4.149; 95% CI 2.877–5.983). Odds of a recent STI screening were higher among patients with HCP that asked about: sexual orientation (aOR = 1.534; 95% CI 1.027–2.291), number of sexual partners (aOR = 2.123; 95% CI 1.314–3.430), use of condoms (aOR = 2.295 95% CI 1.484–3.548), type of sexual intercourse (aOR = 1.900; 95% CI 1.234–2.925), and discussed HIV/AIDS (aOR = 1.549; 95% CI 1.167–2.056). Results may provide insight on how HCPs may potentially promote HIV/AIDS and STI screening among men and which patient groups are more likely to receive a discussion of risks factors from their HCPs. Objective: HIV/AIDS has been recently increasingly observed in developing countries including Egypt. This study aimed to explore stigma and discrimination attitudes of health care providers (HCPs) in Egypt, as elimination of stigma in healthcare settings is a priority to improve case detection and management. Methods: A Google form questionnaire using the validated Arabic version of Health Care Provider HIV/AIDS Stigma Scale (HPASS) was sent to physicians and nurses of Ministry of health (MOH) hospitals and University hospitals in 10 randomly selected Governorates in Egypt. Data was collected from July to August, 2022 from 1577 physicians and 787 nurses. Bivariate and multivariable linear regression analyses were used to identify the predictors of the stigmatizing attitude of HCPs towards People living with HIV (PLHIV). Results: The majority of HCPs had worries about contracting HIV infection from their patients (75.8% of physicians and 77% of nurses). They believed that protective measures are not good enough to protect them from getting infected (73.9% of physicians and 74.7% of nurses). About half of the participants had worries about the safety of performing blood investigations to PLHIV (54% of physicians and 59.9% of nurses). Less than half of HCPs believed they have the right to refuse providing care to patients to protect themselves (44.6% of physicians and 50.1% of nurses). Only 10.5% of physicians and 11.9% of nurses have previously refused to provide health care to PLHIV. There was a significantly higher mean score of prejudice and stereotype among nurses compared to physicians (prejudice; 27.34 ± 7.88 vs 26.17 ± 7.5, stereotype; 18.54 ± 4.61 vs 16.43 ± 5.21, for nurses and physicians, respectively). Less years of physicians' experience (B = -0.10, p < 0.01) and rural residence (B = 1.48, p < 0.05) were significantly associated with higher prejudice score while having lower qualification (B = -1.47, p < 0.001) was significantly associated with higher stereotype score. Conclusion: Standards of practice should be developed to adjust the services and prepare HCPs to provide medical care free from stigma and discrimination against PLHIV. Improving knowledge of HCPs regarding the methods of transmission of HIV, the use of infection control measures and the emotional factors shaping lives of PLHIV should be targeted through updated training programs. This research is concerned with understanding the prespective of traditional healers on the integration of traditional medical practices in the Primary Health Care system in Sudan. Seven traditional healers in Khartoum State traditional centers were puposively selected and interviewed. Interviewes were conducted on the premises of the traditional health care. Data reflected that there is a variation on the health seeking behavior of men, women and children in relation to accessing traditional health seeking medicaiton. Quranic centers and sheikh fagir (a healer who assumes to use the quran to heal) centers are visited by women to seek fertility, and control marriage lives or prevent polygamy. Children are more prone to visit conventional medicine when they are physically ill, yet mental health is stigmatized by the Sudanese community as such children who are mentally distrubed seek traditional medicine and Quranic centers before getting in touch with conventional medicine. Diviners reported that most of their visitors are females. Generally speacking, men, prefer professional medicine for their health. For physical diseases city-men prefer to seek health through conventional medicine first when they fail to attain health they hunt for health in the traditional health. As such, traditional healers think that integrating traditional medicine within the Primary Health Care shortens the way, and save time, for health seekers because traditional health care providers can simply refer cases to conventional medicine when they decide that traditional medicine is incapable to deal with them in considerable short time. On the other hand, herbalists think that integration within the PHC will decrease their capacity to help others because of the rivilary with other similar specialization in the system such as pharamcology. Bonesetters as well think that they are complementing conventional medicine and can play a complementary role with conventional medicine if their art of health provision is intergrated with PHC, provided some capacity enhancement for the traditional health providers is introduced. Background: While many healthcare providers (HCPs) have navigated patients' vaccine concerns and questions prior to the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines, sentiments surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines have presented new and distinct challenges. Objective: To understand the provider experience of counseling patients about COVID-19 vaccinations, aspects of the pandemic environment that impacted vaccine trust, and communication strategies providers found supportive of patient vaccine education. Methods: 7 focus groups of healthcare providers were conducted and recorded during December 2021 and January 2022, at the height of the Omicron wave in the United States. Recordings were transcribed, and iterative coding and analysis was applied. Results: 44 focus group participants representing 24 US states with the majority (80%) fully vaccinated at the time of data collection. Most participants were doctors (34%) or physician's assistants and nurse practitioners (34%). The negative impact of COVID-19 misinformation on patient-provider communication at both intrapersonal and interpersonal levels as well as barriers and facilitators to patient vaccine uptake are reported. People or sources that play a role in health communication ("messengers") and persuasive messages that impact behavior or attitudes towards vaccination ("messages") are described. Providers expressed frustration in the need to continuously address vaccine misinformation in clinical appointments among patients who remained unvaccinated. Many providers found value in resources that provided up-to-date and evidence-based information as COVID-19 guidelines continued to change. Additionally, providers indicated that patient-facing materials designed to support vaccination education were not frequently available, but they were the most valuable to providers in a changing information environment. Conclusions: While vaccine decision-making is complex and hinges on diverse factors such as health care access (i.e., convenience, expense) and individual knowledge, providers can play a major role in navigating these factors with their patients. But to strengthen provider vaccine communication and promote vaccine uptake, a comprehensive communication infrastructure must be sustained to support the patient-provider dyad. The findings provide recommendations to maintain an environment that facilitates effective provider-patient communication at the community, organizational and policy levels. Background: On the frontlines of the pandemic, healthcare providers (HCPs) are overworked, anxious, and fearful. Yet, despite all the fear and anxiety, the facilitation of protective resilience and psychological well-being has become crucial to ensure that minimal intangible psychological losses are incurred due to the pandemic. Aim: The present study aimed to examine the psychological resiliency, state anxiety, trait anxiety, and psychological well-being of frontline HCPs during the COVID-19 and to determine the association among resiliency, state-trait anxiety, and psychological well-being and their links with demographic and workplace factors. Design and Settings: A cross-sectional study concerning frontline HCPs was conducted at two of the largest hospitals in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia. Results: A significant inverse correlation was determined between resilience and state anxiety (r=− 0.417, p< 0.05) and between resilience and trait anxiety (r=− 0.536, p< 0.05). Likewise, a positive intermediate correlation between resilience and the age of the individual (r=0.263, p< 0.05) and a weak positive correlation with years of experience (r=0.211, p< 0.05) were established. Also, the resilience score of volunteer workers (50.9) was lower than that of regular staff (66.8) (p=0.028). Conclusion: Resilience is a crucial factor affecting the training of individuals, which will further promote their work output and mental health capacity, thus improving their overall concept of survival in adversity. Health care provider recommendations are among the most important factors influencing parents' decisions to vaccinate their adolescents. However, delivery of high-quality health care provider recommendations for vaccination is not universal. There is wide variation in the strength, timeliness and consistency of the delivery of recommendations for all adolescent vaccines. The factors that influence health care providers' recommendations are multi-level and can be conceptualized in much the same way as vaccine acceptance among parents. Health care providers are influenced by their own attitudes and beliefs about a vaccine and also by the patient they are treating and by the community in which they practice as well as state and national level vaccine policy. We propose a multi-level framework for understanding the factors that influence health care providers' recommendations at the individual, interpersonal and community level to both develop and adapt interventions to improve providers' recommendations. Background: Situation awareness (SA) is a key factor in accountability and ensuring patient safety in health care. SA is an essential element to research on human factors in healthcare. It is essential to identify valid instruments for measuring this concept and assessing how it is affected by interventions and educational methods. Methods: This systematic review aimed to assess the measurement properties of situation awareness instruments in health care providers' (HCPS) using the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) methodology. Four databases (Medline (through PubMed), Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science) were systematically searched. A manual search was also conducted on Google Scholar and the reference list of the included primary studies to supplement the electronic search. Studies aiming to determine the measurement properties of SA instruments or non-technical skills in HCPS were included. The overall results for each measurement property were reported as sufficient, insufficient, inconsistent, or indeterminate, and the quality of evidence was reported as high, moderate, low, or very low. Results: A total of 25 studies and 15 instruments were included in the study. More than one measurement property was reported in some of the studies, and none of the studies presented all measurement properties. The most common measurement properties were content validity (12/25) and internal consistency (12/25). Cross‐cultural validity and responsiveness were not investigated in any study. Evidence quality for the measurement properties was not high in any of the 15 instruments. Conclusions: None of the instruments can be recommended as the most suitable instrument, and all instruments were classified as promising instruments in need of further psychometric assessment. This systematic review proves the dire need for the development and psychometric evaluation of instruments to measure SA in HCPs in clinical settings. Introduction: Studies have indicated that half of all patients with diabetes do not take their medication as prescribed. Patient social circles, including professionals (health care providers) and nonprofessionals (family and friends) might contribute to low medication adherence. Therefore, this study explored the point of view of healthcare providers and family members of patients with diabetes on patient medication adherence. Methods: Our study included health care providers and family members using in-depth, semi structured interviews. The theoretical domain framework (TDF) was used to explore their perspectives. TDF was used to build a topic guide and to frame the data analysis. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and thematically analyzed using the MAXQDA 2022 program. Results: The participants identified a variety of factors potentially associated with diabetes medication adherence. Most factors were related to the environmental context and resources such as the burden of polypharmacy, medication shortages, and long wait times for care. In addition, factors related to patient beliefs concerning diabetes complications and insulin injections were reported. Several factors were identified that related to knowledge and social influences. Discussion: Interventions that target the factors identified by the social circle of patients with diabetes might improve medication adherence and promote better disease management outcomes. Healthcare workers and healthcare providers need sufficient knowledge and awareness about disease to provide high quality health services to pregnant and breastfeeding women during the Covid 19 pandemic. This study aims to investigate the knowledge of healthcare providers about Covid-19 disease in pregnancy and lactation in Ardabil.This descriptive study was conducted in 2020-2021. The study's statistical population consisted of all healthcare workers working in health centers in Ardabil who care for pregnant and lactating mothers. The census calculated the sample size. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire to assess health care providers' knowledge, which was designed using a review of texts, related articles, and instructions of the Ministry of Health, and the validity and reliability of the questionnaire have been confirmed. Data were analyzed using SPSS20 by descriptive statistics, chi-square, and ANOVA statistical tests. Mean age of the participants was 35.51±5.74. In this study, most participants scored more than 33 and had a good level of knowledge about Covid 19 disease in pregnancy and lactation. The study's results showed that participants had higher knowledge about Covid 19 during pregnancy and lactation. The knowledge gained about Covid 19 during pregnancy and lactation is not absolute and may get updated with the reporting of newer studies. Background: Having a research-engaged health and medical workforce is associated with improvements in clinical outcomes for patients. As such, there has been significant government investment internationally to support health care organisations and services to increase staff engagement with research. Objectives: This scoping review sought to provide an overview of the literature describing strategies employed to increase research engagement by health care providers and organisations, and to undertake a qualitative analysis to generate a list of research engagement strategies. Methods: A scoping review using systematic search strategies was undertaken to locate peer-review publications and grey literature related to research engagement by health care providers and organisations. Research engagement was defined as a 'deliberate set of intellectual and practical activities undertaken by health care staff and organisations to conduct research'. A database search of electronic records was performed with no limit on publication date. Publications were included regardless of study type (excluding systematic reviews) and categorised as either databased (presenting data or new analysis of existing data) and non-databased (no new data or analyses). Databased publications were further classified according to study type, study design and setting. A qualitative synthesis using a Framework Approach was undertaken with all studies that described a strategy to improve research engagement. Results: A total of 152 publications were included in this study with 54% categorised as non-databased. Of the databased articles, the majority (72%) were descriptive studies describing prevalence of correlates of research engagement, 17 (25%) described intervention studies where only two were controlled studies. The following research engagement strategies were identified: i) dual skilled team/staff, ii) resources or physical infrastructure, iii) incentives, iv) leadership support of research, v) education/training, vi) networks, vii) forming partnerships or collaborations and viii) overall leadership structure of entity. Conclusions: The literature on research engagement is primarily opinion-based and descriptive in nature. Chronic postsurgical pain develops in 10% of patients undergoing surgery. Recently, multidisciplinary, patient-tailored interventions, such as a Transitional Pain Service (TPS) have been developed and implemented to improve perioperative pain management and thereby prevent chronic postsurgical pain. The purpose of this survey was to analyse health care providers satisfaction and learn from their experiences on the implementation of a TPS. In the TRUST study, a randomized controlled trial investigating the effectiveness of a TPS, 176 patients were enrolled. Afterwards, a satisfaction survey was internally developed, which consisted of eight items. Satisfaction was measured using a Likert scale with five response options from never (1 point) to always (5 points). Surveys were sent to all anaesthetists and anaesthesia residents in our department that were faced with the consequences of TPS implementation. In May 2022, 36 caregivers of the Department of Anaesthesiology returned the survey after four rounds of distribution, with a response rate of 82.3%. Thirty staff members (81.0%) strongly felt that patient care had improved with the introduction of a TPS and 33 (86.8%) would like to see the TPS to be continued in the future. Background: For years, specialists have been interested on the verge of documentation of adverse drug reactions because of its great importance. The countries of the Middle East have also kept pace with this mission and developed in the past years. Like any other project, this documentation process is accompanied by several problems that will negatively affect the objectives set in this area. Objective: The aim of the current study is to know the main barriers regarding the process of adverse drug reactions in the Middle East area. Patients and methods: In October 2022, a manual search of the literary databases PubMed and Google Scholar has done. The 102 articles were manually screened. Studies that have been published between 2012 and 2022 were eligible. Results: From the 102 publications that underwent manual screening, 26 research articles from 12 different countries qualified for inclusion in the study. Lack of enthusiasm, a professional atmosphere for the conduct of pharmacovigilance, a general lack of knowledge and awareness concerning pharmacovigilance and not enough time for reporting are the main barriers for adverse drug reactions. Conclusion: According to the results, the lack of knowledge or awareness of pharmacovigilance practices and the absence of mechanisms that assist recording in terms of enough time, motivation, or the environment as a whole are the two most significant causes of underreporting. Objective: To find the frequency of various types of violence and its contributing factors among healthcare workers in tertiary healthcare hospitals of Peshawar. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration: Emergency Department, Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar, Peshawar, from 1st January 2021 to June 30, 2021. Methodology: A sample size of 400 healthcare professionals from three hospitals was determined using open epi simple size calculator. The selection of participants was conducted using a non-probability convenient sampling approach. Data was collected using a pretested structured questionnaire after the participants' informed permission was acquired. Healthcare professionals include individuals such as physicians and registered nurses. Results: Most healthcare employees, 97.5%, said they did not experience physical abuse. A total of 1.5% of participants reported experiencing being assaulted once, whereas 1.0% reported experiencing physical assault two to three times. The mean and standard deviation for the latter group were calculated to be 1.04±0.232. A total of 37.2% of respondents said they did not experience any verbal abuse during the previous year. A total of 14.8% of respondents reported experiencing verbal harassment at least once, while 31.8% indicated facing verbal abuse two to three times. Additionally, 16.2% reported encountering verbal abuse more than four times during the last year. These findings yielded a mean of 2.27 occurrences of verbal abuse, with a standard deviation of 1.127. Background: In Malawi, abortion is only legal to save a pregnant woman's life. Treatment for complications after unsafe abortions has a massive impact on the already impoverished health care system. Even though manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) and misoprostol are the recommended treatment options for incomplete abortion in the first trimester, surgical management using sharp curettage is still one of the primary treatment methods in Malawi. Misoprostol and MVA are safer and cheaper, whilst sharp curettage has more risk of complications such as perforation and bleeding and requires general anesthesia and a clinician. Currently, efforts are being made to increase the use of misoprostol in the treatment of incomplete abortions in Malawi. To achieve successful implementation of misoprostol, health care providers' perceptions on this matter are crucial.Methods: A qualitative approach was used to explore health care providers' perceptions of misoprostol for the treatment of incomplete abortion using semi-structured in-depth interviews. Ten health care providers were interviewed at one urban public hospital. Each interview lasted 45 min on average. Health care providers of different cadres were interviewed in March and April 2021, nine months after taking part in a training intervention on the use of misoprostol. Interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim and analyzed using 'Systematic Text Condensation'.Results: The health care providers reported many advantages with the increased use of misoprostol, such as reduced workload, less hospitalization, fewer infections, and task-shifting. Availability of the drug and benefits for the patients were also highlighted as important. However, some challenges were revealed, such as deciding who was eligible for the drug and treatment failure. For these reasons, some health care providers still choose surgical treatment as their primary method.Conclusion: Findings in this study support the recommendation of increased use of misoprostol as a treatment for incomplete abortion in Malawi, as the health care providers interviewed see many advantages with the drug. To scale up its use, proper training and supervision are essential. A sustainable and predictable supply is needed to change clinical practice. Unsafe abortion is a major contributor to maternal mortality worldwide. Unsafe abortion is the termination of an unintended pregnancy by a person without the required skills or equipment, which might lead to serious complications. In Malawi, post-abortion complications are common, and the maternal mortality ratio is among the highest in the world. Retained products of conception, referred to as an incomplete abortion, are common after spontaneous miscarriages and unsafe induced abortions. There are several ways to treat incomplete abortion, and the drug misoprostol has been successful in the treatment of incomplete abortion in other low-income countries. This study explored perceptions among health care providers using misoprostol to treat incomplete abortions and whether the drug can be fully embraced by Malawian health care professionals. Health personnel at a Malawian hospital were interviewed individually regarding the use of the drug for treating incomplete abortions. This study revealed that health care providers interviewed are satisfied with the increased use of misoprostol. They highlighted several benefits, such as reduced workload and that it enabled task-shifting so that various hospital cadres could now treat patients with incomplete abortions. The health care workers also observed benefits for women treated with the drug compared to other treatments. The challenges mentioned were finding out who was eligible for the drug and drug failure. This study supports scaling up the use of misoprostol in the treatment of incomplete abortions in Malawi; the Ministry of Health and policymakers should support future interventions to increase its use. Health care providers have highlighted the need for tools and resources that support promotion of exercise behavior within comprehensive multiple sclerosis (MS) care. This study involved a final quality improvement evaluation of exercise promotion models and materials for inclusion within this setting. Our research team distributed a paper-based survey containing Likert scales, open answer questions, and copies of the models for editing. We distributed this survey among health care providers across the United States. We conducted a novel mixed-methods analysis evaluating quantitative, qualitative, and creative data. We received completed surveys from 13 health care providers who strongly rated the clarity and applicability of the models and materials, and reported that no major improvements were necessary. The minor improvements were specific per comprehensive MS care center. The feedback indicated that the "Exercise in Medicine" models and materials are guides such that the processes should be integrated into real world practice by amending roles and responsibilities with the team members and structure per comprehensive MS care center. This paper presents finalized models and materials for exercise promotion within comprehensive MS care that are ready to be tested for feasibility and efficacy in a clinical trial. Health care providers require support to promote exercise within the context of comprehensive MS care. The practice models in this article provide guides regarding how to promote exercise in this context. Implementing these exercise promotion guides can reduce the burden of neurologists, and ensure patients receive exercise support from appropriate providers. Background : The demand for COVID-19 vaccines has diminished as the pandemic lingers. Understanding vaccine hesitancy among essential workers is important in reducing the impact of future pandemics by providing effective immunization programs delivered expeditiously. Method : Two surveys exploring COVID-19 vaccine acceptance in 2021 and 2022 were conducted in cohorts of health care providers (HCP) and education workers participating in prospective studies of COVID-19 illnesses and vaccine uptake. Demographic factors and opinions about vaccines (monovalent and bivalent) and public health measures were collected in these self-reported surveys. Modified multivariable Poisson regression was used to determine factors associated with hesitancy. Results : In 2021, 3 % of 2061 HCP and 6 % of 3417 education workers reported hesitancy (p < 0.001). In December 2022, 21 % of 868 HCP and 24 % of 1457 education workers reported being hesitant to receive a bivalent vaccine (p = 0.09). Hesitance to be vaccinated with the monovalent vaccines was associated with earlier date of survey completion, later receipt of first COVID-19 vaccine dose, no influenza vaccination, and less worry about becoming ill with COVID-19. Factors associated with hesitance to be vaccinated with a bivalent vaccine that were common to both cohorts were receipt of two or fewer previous COVID-19 doses and lower certainty that the vaccines were safe and effective. Conclusion : Education workers were somewhat more likely than HCP to report being hesitant to receive COVID-19 vaccines but reasons for hesitancy were similar. Hesitancy was associated with non-receipt of previous vaccines (i.e., previous behaviour), less concern about being infected with SARS-CoV-2, and concerns about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines for both cohorts. Maintaining inter-pandemic trust in vaccines, ensuring rapid data generation during pandemics regarding vaccine safety and effectiveness, and effective and transparent communication about these data are all needed to support pandemic vaccination programs. • 3 % of health care providers and 6 % of education workers reported hesitancy about receiving their first COVID-19 vaccines. • 21 % of health care providers and 24 % of education workers were hesitant about receiving a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine. • Factors associated with COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy were similar for health care and education workers and for monovalent and bivalent vaccines. HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an effective biomedical HIV prevention tool. Increasing PrEP use among populations disproportionately affected by HIV is one of the key efforts in the United States' Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative and the HIV National Strategic Plan for the United States. Given that PrEP is available only through prescription, it is important to explore structural, organizational, or environmental factors that could facilitate or impede health care provider's PrEP prescribing behavior. The purpose of this systematic review (PROSPERO [CRD: 42019138889]) is to identify qualitative studies that addressed this topic and conduct meta-synthesis using the thematic synthesis method to identify major themes on the characteristics of clinic infrastructure or clinic models that providers consider as facilitators of PrEP prescribing in the United States. Eighteen citations representing 15 studies were included in this review. Five overarching themes were identified: (1) routinized HIV risk assessment; (2) interdisciplinary/coordinated PrEP teams or services; (3) clinic capacity to provide essential PrEP-related services; (4) low out-of-pocket patient costs; and (5) access to the priority populations. Some of these themes are consistent with the recommendations of CDC's PrEP clinical guidelines and the EHE initiative. More recent studies that include perspectives of diverse providers, timely analysis of these studies, and implementation research to assess strategies to address the current practice gaps are needed to further promote PrEP prescribing among providers in the United States. The medical face mask, widely used by health care providers (HCPs) during the COVID‐19 pandemic, is reported to be associated with adverse reactions, among which acne is one of the most common. This study aims to evaluate treatment strategies employed by HCPs affected by acne in association with prolonged medical face mask use, their openness towards accessing telemedicine as a patient, and other lifestyle factors with potential influence on the evolution of their acne. Our online‐based cross‐sectional survey was distributed between December 17, 2020, and February 17, 2021, and targeted HCPs from different medical centers in Romania. From the n = 134 respondents, 50% reported current acne lesions and 56.7% required treatment. Of the latter, 65.8% self‐medicated and 34.2% sought medical advice. The most common treatment associations between anti‐acne topical products were: retinoids and salicylic acid (18.18%; n = 8), retinoids and benzoyl peroxide (13.64%; n = 6), salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide (13.64%; n = 6), and azelaic acid together with salicylic acid (9.09%; n = 4). The health care provider responders were reluctant to use telemedicine, as only 14.2% participants were open to telemedicine. Our results suggest inadequate management of acne in HCPs using medical face masks. Background: Uganda Ministry of Health (UMOH) embraced the World Health Organization recommendation for people living with human immunodeficiency virus with a detectable viral load (VL) exceeding 1000 copies/mL to receive intensive adherence counselling (IAC). The IAC framework was developed as a step-by-step guide for healthcare providers to systematically support persons with non-suppressed VL to develop a comprehensive plan for adhering to treatment. The objective of this study was to explore the current practice of the healthcare providers when providing IAC, and identify the barriers and facilitators to the utilization of the UMOH IAC framework at two health centers IV level in rural Uganda.Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional qualitative study that explored the current practices of the healthcare providers when providing IAC, and identified the barriers and facilitators to the utilization of the UMOH IAC framework. We used an interview guide with unstructured questions about what the participants did to support the clients with non-suppressed VL, and semi-structured questions following a checklist of categories of barriers and facilitators that affect 'providers of care' as provided by the Supporting the Use of Research Evidence for policy in African health systems (SURE) framework. Current practice as well as the categories of barriers and facilitators formed the a priori themes which guided data collection and analysis. In this study we only included healthcare providers (i.e., medical doctors, clinical officer, nurses, and counsellors) as 'providers of care' excluding family members because we were interested in the health system.Results: A total of 19 healthcare providers took part in the interviews. The healthcare providers reported lack of sufficient knowledge on the UMOH IAC framework; most of them did not receive prior training or sensitization when it was first introduced. They indicated that they lacked counselling and communication skills to effectively utilize the IAC framework, and they were not motivated to utilize it because of the high workload at the clinics compounded by the limited workforce.Conclusions: Although the UMOH IAC framework is a good step-by-step guide for the healthcare providers, there is need to understand their context and assess readiness to embrace the new behavior before expecting spontaneous uptake and utilization. Objective: We sought to systematically review the literature on health workers' values and preferences related to contraceptive methods.Study Design: As part of a larger review, we searched ten electronic databases for published articles from January 1, 2005 through July 27, 2020. We included studies that reported qualitative or quantitative data from the perspective of health workers providing family planning services globally.Results: Forty-one studies met our inclusion criteria. These studies included 12,643 health workers and were conducted in 27 countries. Health worker values and preferences for contraceptive methods were affected by factors related to contraceptive method characteristics (e.g., bleeding pattern and convenience), the contraceptive user (e.g., medical history, parity), and the health worker themselves (e.g., training, environment). Differences were also noted between various professions/specialties (e.g., comfort level with contraceptive methods, depth of experience). While contraceptive counseling and provision were influenced by health worker values and preferences, they were also affected by health worker misconceptions and biases.Conclusion: Health worker values and preferences for contraception are affected by the client's history, medical eligibility, and the health worker context. Provision of contraception that is affected by harmful bias towards certain populations or about certain methods can negatively affect patient-centered care. Future work should address knowledge gaps and health worker biases by improving and standardizing education and training globally, to ensure high-quality, rights-based, and patient-centered contraceptive services. Context: The potential benefits of exercise to pregnant women and their unborn children are immense, yet regular exercise prescription may not be the norm. Aims: Our study aimed to investigate the perceptions and practices of obstetric care providers regarding exercise in pregnancy. Materials and Methods: The study was a cross-sectional survey done in Kaduna state between July and December 2020. A pretested questionnaire was given to obstetric care providers and information was obtained about demographics, professional and facility characteristics of respondents, their perceptions, and practices related to exercise in pregnancy, and information they routinely give pregnant women regarding exercise. Descriptive analysis was done using frequencies, percentages, mean, and standard deviation. Results: There were 265 respondents with a mean age of 34.23 ± 9.29 years. They were mostly females (215, 82.1%), married (171, 65.3%), Muslim (137, 52.3%), and Hausa (107, 40.8%). There were more nurses (153, 58.4%) from the public (212, 80.9%) and tertiary (133, 50.8%) health facilities. Almost all respondents agreed that exercise during pregnancy was beneficial (258, 98.5%). The commonest indication for exercise was cited as obesity and diabetes, whereas it was mostly contraindicated with bleeding while pregnant. The commonest barriers to exercise in pregnancy were the fear of pregnancy complications, inadequate knowledge, and high workload. Conclusion: Healthcare workers in this study generally had positive perceptions and practices toward exercise during pregnancy, except for the fact that they feel pregnant women should avoid strength-building exercises, and do not usually recommend individualized programs. Background: Information, education, and communication (IEC) materials have paramount relevance in primary health care which mainly focused on disease prevention and control. They are a cost-effective approach for achieving better health outcomes in all clinical and public health interventions. This study aimed to explore enablers and barriers to utilize printed IEC materials among healthcare providers of North Shoa Zone, Oromia, Ethiopia, 2020. Methods: A descriptive, qualitative study was conducted from December 1, 2020, to December 30, 2020, among health care providers. A judgmental sampling technique was used and 20 key informants were recruited considering their educational level, professional categories, working units, work experience, and types of health facilities. The data were collected by using a semi-structured interview guide. The transcribed data were uploaded into ATLAS. ti version 7.5.18 software. Then, the inductive process of thematic analysis was employed and the data were coded, categorized, and thematized. Direct quotations were presented with a thick description of the findings. Results: The findings of the study were discussed under four themes of enablers and four themes of barriers. The four themes of enablers were availability of printed IEC materials, distribution of printed IEC material, perceived usefulness of printed IEC materials, and support from the non-government organization. The four themes of barriers were printed IEC materials-related factors, patients related factors, health care provider's related factors, and government-related factors. Conclusion: In this study, we found that the utilization of IEC materials was influenced by a number of facilitators and barriers. Thus, all concerned bodies need to give due attention to IEC materials and work towards the improvement of the quality of IEC materials, provide training for health care providers, work to increase the availability of IEC materials, and distribute them to the health facilities. Background: The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been proven beneficial in several health care areas. Nevertheless, the uptake of AI in health care delivery remains poor. Despite the fact that the acceptance of AI-based technologies among medical professionals is a key barrier to their implementation, knowledge about what informs such attitudes is scarce. Objective: The aim of this study was to identify and examine factors that influence the acceptability of AI-based technologies among medical professionals. Methods: A survey was developed based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model, which was extended by adding the predictor variables perceived trust, anxiety and innovativeness, and the moderator profession. The web-based survey was completed by 67 medical professionals in the Netherlands. The data were analyzed by performing a multiple linear regression analysis followed by a moderating analysis using the Hayes PROCESS macro (SPSS; version 26.0, IBM Corp). Results: Multiple linear regression showed that the model explained 75.4% of the variance in the acceptance of AI-powered care pathways (adjusted R2=0.754; F9,0=22.548; P<.001). The variables medical performance expectancy (ß=.465; P<.001), effort expectancy (ß=-.215; P=.005), perceived trust (ß=.221; P=.007), nonmedical performance expectancy (ß=.172; P=.08), facilitating conditions (ß=-.160; P=.005), and professional identity (ß=.156; P=.06) were identified as significant predictors of acceptance. Social influence of patients (ß=.042; P=.63), anxiety (ß=.021; P=.84), and innovativeness (ß=.078; P=.30) were not identified as significant predictors. A moderating effect by gender was found between the relationship of facilitating conditions and acceptance (ß=-.406; P=.09). Conclusions: Medical performance expectancy was the most significant predictor of AI-powered care pathway acceptance among medical professionals. Nonmedical performance expectancy, effort expectancy, perceived trust, and professional identity were also found to significantly influence the acceptance of AI-powered care pathways. These factors should be addressed for successful implementation of AI-powered care pathways in health care delivery. The study was limited to medical professionals in the Netherlands, where uptake of AI technologies is still in an early stage.
