The reproductive health and behavioural patterns of young families in modern conditions are studied based on statistical data and empirical material. The factors of certain birth, matrimony anddivorce rates are shown; the reproductive behavior of young people in dependence of gender and education level are analysed; the peculiarities of family relations development in the Republic ofBuryatia are studied. The author provides several recommendations on family sustainability. The empirical foundation comprises of the data obtained by the sociological study of the region’s newlywedfamilies conducted in March 2015 with the method of multi-stage quota selection. Purpose. The study is aimed at studying the health and reproductive behaviour on newly-wed families and singling out ways of its preserving. Methodology. The study involves the state and regional statistical data and materials of state and municipal governmental bodies. The empirical foundation comprises of the sociological survey results obtained in March 2015. Results. The article defines primary demographic factors which characterize the family state and the peculiarities of family relations development in the Republic of Buryatia. Basic methods of reproductive health preserving for young families are pointed out. Practical implications . The obtained results can be applied in developing scientifically well-reasoned sociological and demographic forecasts for the Republic of Buryatia and solving family politicsissues by state bodies.

The need in information and training of specialists of environmental organizations in the Baikal transboundary region are studied in the article. On the basis of self-assessment of ecological and educational potential (matrix needs) of interviewing and conducting polls of specialists and managers, the strengths and weaknesses of the organization, the level of professional competence of the target audience, knowledge and skills in the field of environmental protection are revealed. The needs of professionals in additional education in the control of the quality of the environment, using of new methods and technologies, knowledge of geographic information systems, cartographic information, modeling of the dynamic processes of environmental components, the development of implementation mechanism of international normative documents are revealed. The results of the research were used by the UN Office for Project Services, the Global Environment Fund.
