Digital twin technology is being invested by many countries around the world and actively used in many areas from aircraft engines to spacecraft. A digital twin is a digital replica virtual representation that allows modeling the state of a physical entity or system, and it is created by digitalizing data collected from physical entities through sensors, so various predictions could be made by understanding the behavior of the physical entity. The importance of digital twin increases even more in critical systems such as the military field with low fault tolerance. In the military field, digital twin technology stands out with the advantages it offers in terms of producing cost-effective solutions and increasing efficiency and quality. In this study, the current applications of digital twin technology in the military field and the advantages to be gained by using this technology will be evaluated, and then the future predictions will be discussed

This 1.5-year ethnographic study of a U.S. medical center shows that avoiding loss of autonomy and work intensification for less powerful actors during digital technology introduction and integration presents a multisited collective action challenge. I found that technology-related participation problems, threshold problems, and free rider problems may arise during digital technology introduction and integration that enable loss of autonomy and work intensification for less powerful actors. However, the emergence of new triangles of power allows for novel coalitions between less powerful actors and newly powerful third-party actors that can help mitigate this problem. I extend the political science perspective of experimentalist governance to examine how a digital technology-focused, iterative collective action process of local experimentation followed by central revision can facilitate mutually beneficial role reconfiguration during digital technology introduction and integration. In experimentalist governance of digital technology, local units are given discretion to adapt digital technologies to their specific contexts. A central unit composed of diverse actors then reviews progress across local units integrating similar digital technology to negotiate a new shared understanding of mutually beneficial technology-related tasks for each group of actors. The central unit modifies both local routines and the technology itself in response to problems and possibilities revealed by the central revision process, and the cycle repeats. Here, accomplishing mutually beneficial role reconfiguration occurs through an experimentalist, collective action process rather than through a labor-management bargaining process or a professional-led tuning process.

Digital transformation is changing the employee skills that organizations need to succeed. In this context, it is increasingly important for employees to proactively develop their skills. The emerging research on employee proactive skill development has largely ignored the possible role of employees’ perceptions of large-scale changes in organizations’ environments in their motivation to engage in such valuable behavior. We address this gap using cognitive-affective personality system theory to explain how macrolevel development affects employee behavior. Existing data on industry digital maturity were combined with survey data of 710 higher education graduates from various organizations and industries collected at two separate time points. The results support the hypothesized positive indirect effects of industry digital maturity on proactive skill development via employees’ interpretation of digitalization as controllable and as an opportunity for their organization. We discuss the implications for research and organizational practice.

Blockchain is often presented in the tourism industry as being a technology in a global approach that will enable the sector to make its digital transformation and bring a whole series of advantages, both financial and logistical. The reality is different, however. Indeed, research on Blockchain tends to focus on essentially technical aspects and takes little account of the customer experience in the sector in which it will be integrated. The aim of this exploratory research, based on 18 semi-directive interviews, is to understand the sociological obstacles to the adoption of Blockchain by tourism professionals in Switzerland. Our generalized findings are presented in the form of four research proposals that argue that, without the intervention of the State, it is hard to see how such disruptive innovation can radically change the highly fragmented tourism sector.JEL Codes: O33, O35

Procedural fairness is an important issue in organizations because people consider it key to both favorable instrumental outcomes such as innovation and positive relations. This article proposes two possible relational issues in the Chinese workplace during the process of digital transformation: the exclusiveness of the authority–subordinate relationship and fate control in such relationships. Next, based on the multiple needs model of procedural fairness and the fairness heuristic theory, we argue that a subordinate with high self-esteem, a high need for control, and/or a high need to belong is more likely to have greater concerns about both relational issues, to show polarized reactions to the presence or absence of voice, and to form a heuristic for trust in an authority. The findings proposed the reason why people in the Chinese culture respond to voice differently. This article investigates the psychological mechanism of individual's procedural fairness perception in the process of organizational digital transformation and provides rare evidence that helps increase our understanding of how, in a non-Western culture, people's psychological needs interact to facilitate their formation of procedural fairness judgments and who uses these judgments as a heuristic for trust.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made many changes to the business system in various sectors. One way to prevent and reduce the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic is a physical distancing program. This has led to a digital transformation of the traditional transaction mechanism. This research aims to develop a prototype contactless transaction system using digital payment mechanisms and QR code technology that will be applied in traditional markets. The method used in the development of electronic market systems is a prototype approach. The application of digital payments is used as a solution to minimize money exchange contacts that are common in traditional markets. The system developed uses. The results showed that the system built was able to accelerate and facilitate the buying and selling transaction process in a traditional market environment. QR codes can speed up transactions, while digital payments make payment transactions easier. Alpha testing conducted shows that all functional systems are running well. Meanwhile, the beta test results show that the user acceptance of the system is 86% from the merchant side and 89% from the buyer side. The results of the study also show acceptance of the usefulness of the system being built, as well as the optimism of its users to be able to take advantage of this system both technologically and functionally, so the system is can be a part of the digital transformation of the traditional market to the electronic market and has become one of the solutions in reducing the spread of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

PurposeThis paper aims to focus on the relation between digital transformation and banks’ reputation, as examined through the information disclosed by the five largest Italian banking groups’ efforts to extend and enhance their digital resources. Considering digitalization as a key strategy for managing reputation, which, in turn, can leverage financial and value performance management, the paper investigates whether and how digital activities might affect banks’ reputation. Therefore, this paper proposes the relationship between digitalization and reputation as a lever for performance management and for increasing efficiency.Design/methodology/approachThe authors use content analysis to generate a digital disclosure index, categorizing activities human, structural and relational. For banks’ reputations, the proxies are a measure of corporate reputation and a reputational risk index. Methodologically the study used multiple case studies, considered as particularly suitable to gain an in-depth understanding of the topic in the case of the five banks. A collection of secondary data and semi-structured interviews are included.FindingsOverall, the digitalization-reputation link shows that banks’ reputation is variously affected, not only by exposure to risk (including reputational risk) but also by strategic issues such as digitalization and the effectiveness of the corresponding communication. Consequently, banks should view digitalization as a key driver to be considered not in a stand-alone perspective, but in a combined approach.Research limitations/implicationsContinued research should include the Covid-19 implications. Additionally, it would be important to compare a larger number of banks, with different characteristics, also including variables indicating the corporate governance mechanisms.Practical implicationsThe analysis contributes to fostering scholars’ and practitioners’ management of the digital transformation challenge that is a current key-factor, capable of increasing banks’ value. It considers not only the drivers directly affecting monetary value but also the institutions’ social and relational value, as well as their reputation.Originality/valueThis paper extends prior research on the digitalization-reputation relation by investigating digital transformation through disclosure of activities in this area within the Italian banking sector. It allows to leverage the key-factors that can contribute to increasing banks’ value, considering not only the drivers directly affecting monetary value but also the institutions’ social and relational value, as well as their reputation.

A full-fledged transformation is impossible without the use of new didactic approaches and without the creation of a qualitatively new educational and methodological support. This is due to the peculiarities of the modern student. Modern students were born and grew up in an information-saturated world and they are dominated by clip thinking, which is focused on processing information in short portions. Based on this, the problem of developing such training programs that would be aimed at independent work, based on game methods of presenting information, would take into account the psychophysiological features of perception, processing and storage of information by a modern person becomes urgent.To solve this problem, the authors analyzed the results of cognitive psychology research, conducted a self-analysis of the experience of developing and implementing three-dimensional interactive training programs in the educational process.The paper reveals the problems and disadvantages of traditional ways of presenting information. Examples of the implementation of interactive training applications are shown. The method of organizing a distributed distance learning system is presented.The conducted research allowed us to outline ways to modernize educational and methodological support by using interactive applications, mobile learning, resource allocation, introduction of modern digital solutions and creation of a comfortable educational environment.

PurposeThis paper analyses the impact of digitalization in the marketing of geographic indication (GI) products. Specifically, the objective is to provide a systemic and comprehensive view of marketing issues and challenges arising from evolving digitalization in the agriculture sector.Design/methodology/approachThe authors employed an explorative cognitive mapping technique on a sample of key informants among Italian companies and a consortium of registered food, spirits and wine products.FindingsThis study describes the key concepts dominant in the discourse of informants concerning digitalization and its influence on the GI market. Three clusters and two loops were also identified to explain the relationship among key concepts, which stress changes regarding the relationship with the consumer, product experience and innovation, and the integration between physical and virtual space.Research limitations/implicationsThis is the first attempt to apply cognitive maps to GIs. However, the study does have limitations: it was conducted on a small number of producers and was restricted to only Italy. Another limitation is that interviews were conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic.Practical implicationsThe results suggest important practical implications that stress the need for learning and increased digital competences for the efficient embedding of digital technologies in all business areas, increase product value and innovation, and the need for governance in support of digital transformation.Originality/valueThis work creates the new and valuable literature on food marketing and, specifically, on a changing market environment resulting from digitalization, by providing a holistic overview of digitalization in reference to the marketing of GIs.

In February 2020 the European Commission announced a new strategy for data in which an innovative proposal to create a single European data space composed of many sectoral common data spaces, including the agriculture sector, was presented. It is expected that the common agricultural data space will provide support for delivering a smart, innovative and sustainable agri-food system from farm to fork. Based on the analysis of framework conditions for pooling and sharing agricultural data in the EU and the Commission’s initiatives in this area, this article aims to discuss how and to what extent the common data space in agriculture could contribute to environmental, economic and social sustainability in the EU. It was concluded that the achievement of sustainability goals with the help of the planned common data space remains challenging, particularly in the context of rapid, but uneven pace of digital transformation in the agri-food sector in the EU. Overcoming legal, technical and other barriers to data sharing in the EU will not remove the fundamental problems of limited representativeness of current agricultural data assets in the EU. The design of the common data space in agriculture as well as the rules for data access and use should therefore be carefully considered. Also, specific and datarelated intervention measures, e.g. under the CAP, would be needed both to decrease the problem of a fragmented farm data landscape and to respond to the growing needs to collect and share private farm data that are highly relevant to achieving broader social goals and sustainability.

Digital technologies significantly impact on manufacturing firms as they innovate their business processes in response to rapidly changing environments. Therefore, the proper use of digital technology to promote innovative behavior has become an important topic in research. However, few studies have examined how firm-level digital transformation affects individual-level innovative behavior. Drawing on the minority dissent perspective, we explored the mechanism by which digital transformation affects innovative behavior. Surveying 540 participants from Chinese manufacturing firms revealed that firm-level digital transformation was significantly correlated with both crossfunctional minority dissent and individual-level innovative behavior. Moreover, minority dissent played a partial mediating role in the relationship between digital transformation and innovative behavior. This study sheds new light on how firm-level digital transformation can determine individual-level innovative behavior.

Introduction. The digital transformation of society determines the presence of socio-cultural threats and risks, which are associated with the instability of the value system of the individual and the distortion of socio-cultural identity as a result thereof. Today, we can observe various violations of the processes of socio-cultural identification, which threaten the psychological security of the individual and the security of both society and the state. Overcoming threats to socio-cultural identity through the choice of productive strategies is possible due to such personality traits as psychological stability, the ability to counteract risks, formed on the basis of social norms, ethnicity, patriotism, and critical thinking.The aim of the present research is to identify the psychological factors and mechanisms that ensure the formation of personal resilience to sociocultural threats in the context of digital transformation of society.Methodology and research methods. The current research is based on the theory of digital socialisation of the individual, socio-cultural identity, as well as on the theory of socio-psychological security. The following psychodiagnostic methods were used: “Scale of subjective well-being” (Perrudel-Badoux, Mendelsohn, Chiche, adaptation by M. V. Sokolova), “Definition of socio-cultural identity” (modified version by Krupenko O. V., Frolova O. V.), “Questionnaire of moral grounds” (MFQ) (J. Haidt et al., in adaptation by O. A. Sychev et al.), “Index of self-assessment of information skills” (Voynilov Y. L., Maltseva D. V., Shubina L. V., in the author’s modification), “Index of socio-cultural security of a teenager” (Scale of virtual autism) (by Gilemkhanova E. N.), and the questionnaire of perception of socio-cultural threats to the digital transformation of society developed by the authors. The obtained data were processed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis (principal component analysis, Varimax rotation), and Spearman correlation analysisResults and scientific novelty. The study showed that students in general have a sufficient level (above average) of socio-cultural identity, critical thinking when working with information, moral norms of loyalty and respect for the authorities, as well as students demonstrate psychological well-being and a low level of virtual autism. Students see the greatest threat in threats to the individual (reduction of live interpersonal communication and withdrawal from the real world; growth of aggression, cyberbullying; growth of information stress) and the state (growth of cybercrime and cyberterrorism). Three factors of social risk of digital transformation of society were highlighted: ethno-cultural risks, antisocial risks, cognitive and communication risks. Three psychological mechanisms were identified that allow an individual to maintain resilience to socio-cultural threats in the context of digital transformation of society: the mechanism of social tolerance (vs alarmism, vs racism), the mechanism of conformity (social adaptation), and the mechanism of psychological protection (coping).Practical significance. The identified psychological factors and mechanisms allow the programmes for psychological and pedagogical support of students to be developed and implemented.

In this paper, we focus on the impact of digital transformation on traditional ways to sell insurance products. Our goal is to investigate how widespread the use of digital technologies in insurance sales is and which values of these digital technologies are perceived by insurance intermediaries. Moreover, we aim to analyze underlying influencing factors in this regard. We conducted a survey in July 2020, i.e., after the first wave of COVID-19, in which 671 exclusive agents from various insurance companies, independent agents and independent brokers from Germany participated. Our results show that even at this point of time, in a high proportion of sales workforces, digital transformation is not yet very advanced. Further analyses show that exclusive agents and younger people are further ahead in digital transformation even though COVID-19 pushes digital life across all ages and social classes. Based on our results, we derive initial recommendations for action for the insurer.

This study aims to analyze institutional divergence of Beckert (2010) by measuring the reframing of three constitutive principles of Digital Weberian Bureaucracy (DWB). In contrast to the studies by Gaus et al. (2017), Sofyani et al. (2018), Muellerleile and Robertson (2018), Turner et al. (2019), and Meilani and Hardjosoekarto (2020), this study explores normative and mimetic mechanisms resulting in the mixed pattern of public administration (Traditional Public Administration (TPA), New Public Management (NPM), and Post NPM), focusing on the transformation of Digital Era Governance (DEG). Employing Soft Systems Methodology (SSM) by Reynolds and Holwell (2010), combined with Text Network Analysis (TNA) by Segev (2020) and Social Network Analysis (SNA) by Borgatti et al. (2014), this study shows the micro dynamics of relationships between actors, the meso dynamics of organizations, and the absence of regulations at the macro level, all of which lead to institutional divergence in the form of fully hybrid governance (as proposed by De Waele et al. (2015)) that is also caused by normative and mimetic mechanisms. Complementing the study of DWB, this study suggests that computer literacy and programming languages are essential to be improved by future bureaucrats as social actors to achieve the success of digital transformation. Higher education institutions and public universities seek to modernize their processes to provide better and greater services to students. The COVID-19 pandemic is a new scenario where the only alternative to stop the spread of the virus is the use of technology. The administrative and academic processes are the basis for generating services to the university community;therefore, the need arises to change the procedures and the work culture of the institution and integrate digital technology. This supposes a process of digital transformation. To achieve this, existing problems in implementations involving higher-level educational institutions and universities are analyzed. The systematic review of literature in SCOPUS and Web of Science is used as a research method. The problems found in these processes and the analysis of the identified categories allow the authors to obtain the factors and issues that must be addressed in the digital transformation processes. Purpose This study aims to introduce the original idea of competitive empathy, to go beyond competitive advantage and help managers and entrepreneurs strategize with a shared purpose. Design/methodology/approach This study builds on and originally combines seminal works on empathy in the fields of psychology and management, which are extended to embrace the notion of empathy toward competitors. Empirical research leveraged different methods, including “class as a lab” research; field studies; and collaborative research. Findings To support managers’ and entrepreneurs’ effort to be more empathic and emotionally intelligent when dealing with competitors, the study introduces the “Competitive Empathy Catalyst” tool, which identifies three layers – namely, orientation, execution and foundation – where to look for common ground between your company’s and your competitors’ strategy. A set of principles that should inspire managers’ strategic behavior and action to enable competitive empathy are also proposed: search for a non-conflicting identification with competitors and avoid “egotism”; adopt “perspective-taking”; practice “mirroring”; aim at the “greater good”; leverage “vicarious learning” and apply “cautionary trust.” Practical implications Looking at competitors from a different angle and applying competitive empathy as a strategic device can uncover a plethora of opportunities benefiting the company’s strategy and ability to create, deliver and capture value. Originality/value Empathy in management theory and practice has been traditionally associated with interaction with customers, employees and stakeholders. Competitive empathy counterintuitively applies empathy to a category of players that were largely left out from the discussion, that is, competitors.

Various aspects of digitalization of public administration in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union are considered. It is noted that digitalization is spontaneous and comprehensive, and also affects almost all spheres of public relations, including the system of public administration. In this regard, there is a need to develop a joint interstate policy in the field of institutionalization of the processes of digitalization of society. Digitalization is defined as a set of digital transformation of the processes of economic entities and the creation of digital products and services, and not just as digitization - the transfer of data from analog form to digital. In turn, the definition of the term “public administration” can be formulated as a set of mechanisms, processes, relationships and institutions through which citizens of the state, their associations express their interests, exercise their rights and obligations and settle differences. The analysis of the practice of institutionalization of the processes of digitalization of public administration demonstrates the fact that the main regulatory norms and practices in this sphere are fixed within the framework of national target programs.This article analyses the program and target documents of all the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, affecting the digitalization regulation processes, the need to institutionalize the processes of digitalization of government and society, as well as the introduction of modern technologies in the practice of public administration. At the same time, the common element of all strategies, concepts and programs is only the digitalization of the process of providing public services, and the other parameters of the target documents are largely different. In this regard, it is required to form a unified model of digitalization of public administration of the Eurasian Economic Union on the basis of a unified strategy.

Digital network platforms are built on sociotechnical interaction between actors and actors. The creation and development of new public services based on digital platforms inevitably leads to the transformation of the relationship between the state and citizens. The attractiveness of state digital platforms for citizens increases when resolving the contradiction between the possibilities of new forms of social interaction and the threat of misuse of personal data, the risk of harm or persecution.The article presents the results of the analysis of the boundaries of the public and private in the interaction of the state with citizens on digital network platforms. The research method is a comparative analysis, which is based on the dichotomy of public and private, reflected in the concept of private and public X. Arendt, concepts of the public sphere J. Habermas, regulatory and legal concepts of privacy by R. Gavison. The empirical base was made up of a sociological study conducted to obtain information about the boundaries of privacy and publicity of personal data in the digital network space (n = 1 000 among the population over 18 years old living in metropolitan megacities and median regions by the level of informatization, 2020) and the results of Kaspersky Lab surveys conducted in 2019–2020.The conducted research allows us to assert that almost 2/3 of citizens have faced the misuse of confidential information on the Internet. Most of the respondents are aware that websites, social networks and search engines can collect data for web analytics. At the same time, citizens consider it possible to transfer personal data to the authorities in a generalized form for making managerial decisions. Half of the surveyed population does not object to the implementation of digital control over the actions and movements of citizens. Thus, despite the existing negative experience, it is unlikely that there will be any obvious resistance to organizing the collection of personal information on digital network platforms.

PurposeThe changes brought forth by the Digital Transformation have an impact on the way we think, assess and manage Quality. While the concept of Quality 4.0 has resulted from these changes, there is still limited understanding and unclear definitions in this new era of Quality Management.Design/methodology/approachThere is a clear opportunity to review and analyze the state-of-the-art of Quality 4.0, its main research efforts, topics and directions. To do so, a bibliometric analysis and descriptive/mapping literature review were performed.FindingsThere is a clear focus on the implications of technology for Quality, but other relevant topics include business management and strategy models and systems, as well as human or soft factors. Results reveal an increasing interest in Quality 4.0 as well as a link between topics.Originality/valueTogether with the review, analysis and digest of the literature, we offer our own contribution to a commonly accepted definition Quality 4.0.

The subject. The modern world is constantly changing, which makes it necessary to update the means and methods of legal regulation of public relations. Moreover, these relations themselves are changing, new areas of public relations are emerging, for which it is necessary to create a legal framework. The sphere of financial and legal regulation is no exception. The most important issue, which has been on the agenda of the international community for several years, is the development of the digital economy. The legal realities of digitalization largely determine what place the Russian economy will occupy in the emerging global digital market. It is necessary to develop a comprehensive legal concept that allows ensuring compliance with the fiscal interests of the state in the context of digital transformation. In this regard, the transformation of tax relations and their legal regulation is particularly important.Purpose of the study. The article is devoted to the transformation of the legal regulation of tax relations in the digital economy. In order for Russian financial and legal regulation to contribute to an effective response to the challenges posed by digitalization, it is necessary to develop a comprehensive legal concept that allows ensuring compliance with the fiscal interests of the state in the context of digital transformation. In this regard, the transformation of tax relations and their legal regulation is of particular importance.Methodology. The research was carried out with the application of the formally legal interpretation of legal acts as well as the comparative analysis of Russian and European legal literature. Structural and systemic methods are also the basis of the research. The main results. The necessity to develop legal solutions in the field of taxation of the digital economy is determined by the focus on legal support for the stability of financial and legal regulation and the principle of certainty of taxation. In these circumstances, it is important to implement the control function of financial law. The need to ensure compliance with the fiscal interests of the state, both at present and in the long term, requires the transformation of essential approaches to the legal regulation of the system of taxes and fees, the principles and elements of taxation, tax administration and tax control. In this regard, it is proposed to provide for special rules for calculating and paying income tax on foreign digital companies and, in parallel, to expand tax incentives for Russian companies.Сonclusions. The authors come to the conclusion that the actual scientific task is to develop a methodological position on the directions of reforming the national tax legislation and the international tax doctrine of the Russian Federation in the context of the digital transformation of public relations. According to the results of the study, it is concluded that it is necessary to ensure compliance with the fiscal interests of the state. This requires the transformation of essential approaches to the legal regulation of tax relations, both in the context of determining the appropriate legal forms for regulating the tax base levied in Russia in the context of the emerging digital economy, and for influencing international tax policy in order to use all the advantages provided by international tax cooperation and neutralize the threats caused by international tax competition.

Digital transformation is the process of consuming digital technologies that drives business improvements and customer experience. Artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in businesses' digital transformation agendas. Technologies and algorithms are an important perspective in the implementation of chatbots. AI chatbots use natural language processing technology and offer solutions for modernizing traditional business processes. The key advantage of the implementation of chatbots in different domains is the impact by improving customers' experience and reducing costs. Chatbots are pieces of software that simulate human conversation through voice commands and/or text chats, intending to offer companies an approach on how to use this software to revolutionize their businesses. The aim of this paper is the analysis of the evaluation criteria; the study of insights into how chatbots can be implemented in the domains of banking, e-commerce, tourism, and call centres; and the discussion of some benefits and challenges of chatbots in driving the digital transformation of businesses.

Researched are issues of assessing the quality of educational activities in the context of digital transformation. The relevance of the study is due to the digital transformation of education, increased requirements for the level of quality of training of university graduates, the complication of the conditions for organizing the educational process, which determines the need to search for new approaches and technologies. Assessment of the quality of educational activities in the context of digital transformation requires the creation of the necessary infrastructure, the formation of an appropriate regulatory and educational framework. When considering the indicated problem, the methods of systematization and generalization were used, which make it possible to consider this problem, taking into account many factors that affect the assessment of the quality of educational activities in the context of digital transformation. The article highlights the main approaches to the process of assessing the quality of educational activities using the electronic information and educational environment, implemented by universities. The practical significance of the research results is determined by the fact that the conclusions drawn and the proposed scientific and theoretical provisions can be useful to the heads of educational organizations and have the ability to adapt to the conditions of the educational process. The article will be useful for administrative and pedagogical workers of universities, as well as for everyone interested in researching the quality of educational activities in the context of digital transformation.

Introduction. Compliance is one of the crucial factors for the implementation of strategic solutions aimed at ensuring business continuity. It is vital both for performing previously assumed obligations and for meeting new requirements from stakeholders in a crisis. In today’s rapidly changing environment, businesses depend on information and information technologies and use them for business continuity planning, thus taking a proactive approach. In this regard, digital transformation of compliance management procedures is required. Purpose. To study modern digital transformation technologies which can be applied to compliance management procedures in order to ensure business continuity. Methodology. The main conclusions made in this article are based on general scientific methods: analysis, synthesis, comparison, deduction, and induction. Conclusions. Big data analysis, machine learning technologies, and robotic process automation allow for complete or partial automation of the following compliance management procedures: compliance risks analysis and prediction; a comprehensive check on the contractors and contract analysis; employee training; maintaining the systems reporting on compliance breaches; monitoring and identification of suspicious activity; internal investigations. Strategic decisions aimed at the automation of compliance management give a company an opportunity to quickly analyse data and assess compliance risks, to use valuable human resources for more complex tasks, to improve the discipline and the quality of employee training, and to maintain the required level of business operations during and after a crisis.

In recent years, esp. during covid 19 pandemic, there is increasing need of working at home model with computer skills, and in the scope of this study we will mention roles of computer skills and digital transformation which apply to forecast of tourism revenue. Among economic sectors, tourism is a very important industry that contributes greatly to GDP growth of the country in the current context. Forecasting tourism revenue is very important to have reasonable policies or decisions at the macro level. In fact, in this period, with new concepts of smart cities and smart communities, we experienced IoTs (internet of things) roles in developing and promoting our local and community tourism services very much. In the current context, digital transformation is an inevitable development trend. Currently, businesses that do not follow this trend will not be able to access new achievements and advancements and will find it difficult to participate in the new value chain that digital transformation brings. The article uses the method of analyzing and forecasting tourism industry revenue. This paper proposes a solution to apply an analysis and forecasting method through linear regression to forecast tourism revenue. To implement this method, the article collects and analyzes data, thereby proposing solutions to promote socio-economic development and tourism industry. The research results will play an important role, helping policymakers to be proactive in making necessary plans and decisions for business, investment, and promotion processes of travel to increase revenue, etc.

En un mundo en constante cambio, la transformación digital en los emprendimientos se ha vuelto una necesidad imperiosa para la sostenibilidad de los negocios, situación que debe planificarse y aplicarse en el mediano plazo. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar la relación entre las variables transformación digital y emprendedores universitarios del Ecuador, para ello de forma exploratoria se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre las variables de interés, lo que permitió fundamentar el marco teórico del estudio, posteriormente y para aterrizar los conceptos al contexto ecuatoriano, se empleó el método Delphi con dos rondas de entrevistas a expertos, lo que a su vez permitió diseñar un cuestionario, el que posteriormente fue aplicado a 384 emprendedores universitarios del Ecuador, para recabar su opinión y percepción sobre la transformación digital y su efecto en la sostenibilidad de sus emprendimientos. Como principal resultado, los encuestados reconocen la importancia de la transformación digital en los emprendimientos, sin embargo, esto no se ve reflejado en las operaciones de sus negocios, lo cual puede deberse a una confusión entre la transformación digital y el solo hecho de usar herramientas tecnológicas de forma aislada en uno o más procesos. Esta ausencia de transformación digital también puede ser atribuida a la falta de: fuentes de financiamiento, conocimiento de herramientas de gestión y estudios a profundidad sobre el mercado.

Successful implementation of digital health programs is imperative as it is becoming increasingly clear that digital solutions will underpin modern health care. These projects are often supported by large budgets and if not implemented successfully, the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care may be compromised. Failure rates for the implementation of large, complex healthcare software platforms in digital health programs have been persistently high. Although several factors may contribute to the failure of such projects, the majority have been reported to fail largely due to poor project management. Nevertheless, little is known about the optimal project management approaches for digital health projects, with many health services reliant on external advisory companies and contractors for advice. Although publication bias makes it difficult to reliably study and understand global trends for the failure of digital health projects, examination of media reports and published literature indicates that this is a global phenomenon affecting digital health projects in North America, Europe and Australasia. In this article, our aim is to examine the literature for evidence underpinning current project management approaches used when implementing commercial, off-the-shelf healthcare information technology solutions, including complex healthcare software in large digital health programs in hospitals or across health systems, and evaluate the suitability of current project management approaches to deliver these projects. This starts to build an important evidence base for hospitals and health services considering digital transformation projects.

Auch die Möglichkeit, die Mehrausgaben durch Steuererhöhungen zu decken, kann als schwieriges Unterfangen gewertet werden. Die Autoren haben mit Blick auf die Wahlprogramme der Parteien die budgetären Spielräume im Bundeshaushalt für die kommende Legislaturperiode genauer betrachtet. Sie schlussfolgern, dass ohne weitere Schuldenfinanzierung oder Steuererhöhungen der Bundeshaushalt bei heutiger Planung an seine verfassungsrechtlichen Kreditaufnahmegrenzen stoßen wird. The 2021 election campaign in Germany has revealed substantial demands on the federal budget in the coming legislative period. Some coalition partners, however, have rejected a reform of the debt brake and simultaneously promise tax cuts. A 'burden forecast' for the next four years indicates that these campaign promises will triple expenditures from 37 to 105.1 billion euro and will exclude urgent investments to modernise public infrastructure, cope with climate change and tackle digital transformation. With the debt brake maxed out, the financing of up to 263 billion euro remains up in the air. Keeping the debt brake without increasing taxes would be like trying to 'square the circle'.

Purpose The COVID-19 pandemic situation has imposed changes in the way many services are being provided. The purpose of this paper is to explore the use of lean thinking and digital transformation on services redesign of a higher education institution. The aim is to improve efficiency and incorporate new health and safety recommendations because of the pandemic situation. Design/methodology/approach This paper follows a case study approach to explore how lean thinking contributes to the digital transformation of services. The data was collected through student surveys from a Portuguese University, where three different academic services were selected. Findings This paper identifies important requirements for new and improved online alternatives to face-to-face interactions of the students with the academic services. It also shows that lean thinking is a driver for digital transformation of services. Practical implications This paper presents a dedicated roadmap to aid the implementation of a digital transformation process within student academic services of higher education institutions. Originality/value This paper addresses the digital transformation of services through a lean thinking perspective and considering four dimensions: quality, efficiency, cost reduction and health and safety.

The digital transformation of all areas of government is one of the European Union priorities. The motivation for our research was the fact that when it comes to the evaluation of Digital Public Services, the Czech Republic ranks below the EU countries average. This article discusses the development of electronic filings for the Financial Administration in the Czech Republic. It started with a critical literature review of relevant sources. Subsequently, a research was conducted with 644 respondents in the form of a questionnaire survey. Based on the primary research, opinions on the digitization of financial administration, including the benefits and disadvantages it brings to them, was verified with entrepreneurs. The survey data was evaluated using a non-parametric test in SPSS Statistics. Following an empirical survey, it was found that the majority of respondents perceive electronic filings in a positive way. The most common form of electronic filing is through data boxes, which have been in use in the Czech Republic since 2009. Less than half of the respondents had some problems related to the introduction of electronic filings. Some of the most common issues mentioned included the familiarization with the requirements associated with the electronic filings and learning to use the program in general. With the majority of respondents, accountants are responsible for interaction with the Financial Administration. Based on the respondents’ perception, the saving of time was identified as the most significant benefit, followed by the availability of information and error checks; saving of costs was the last. The respondents evaluate electronic communication as more flexible, practical and easier.

The following paper deals with the implications of the platform economy for intrapreneurship. It is becoming increasingly difficult for traditional pipeline companies to keep up with the speed of platform companies. They are innovative, agile, and ready for change, while their legacy counterparts are the opposite. In this paper, sources from the platform economy and intrapreneurship are analyzed and evaluated using qualitative research methods. The focus is on the question of what the structure of the platform enterprise must look like for the intrapreneur to unfold his creative potential. The results show that the intrapreneur needs structural autonomy and distinctive communication structures to act successfully. Within these structures moves the intrapreneur, considered an entrepreneur and a central driver for change and innovation. Based on the results, a structural model is derived and visualized, which concretizes the findings.

Purpose: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) were forced to introduce remote education in a short period of time, regardless of the level of their technological competence. As a result, students and faculty changed their study mode from traditional to online within a few days. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of the teaching mode on the teaching quality perceived by students. Design/Methodology/Approach: A survey of University of Information Technology and Management students was conducted in the summer semester preceding the pandemic in which traditional teaching was performed (n = 8,462, with 315 academic staff members evaluated) and in the summer semester during the pandemic where the mode of delivery was online (n = 15,738, with 248 academic staff members evaluated). Findings: A statistical analysis of the results, broken down by academic staff gender, academic title, and field of teaching, shows no significant changes in the evaluation of the quality of academic staff teaching in general. Practical Implications: The results of the research make it possible to define further directions of academic staff development in order to improve students' satisfaction with the education process and allow for better preparation of universities for the digital transformation in the field of higher education. Originality/Value: The paper verifies the readiness of teaching staff for distance learning, both from the perspective of teaching skills as well as technical and digital skills.

The modern world is changing rapidly. Digitalization is becoming more and more important and penetrates into all spheres of society. The digital transformation of financial and monetary processes and systems deserves special attention. It is important to determine the place and role of the state in the regulation of these processes. This paper examines the current state and prospects of using cryptocurrency as an element of monetary circulation. Analysis of the dynamics of the bitcoin rate showed that the use of cryptocurrencies is promising. However, it is necessary to improve the regulatory framework. The introduction and use of the national cryptocurrency in Russia will stabilize the state of the financial system in relation to the dollar, ensure the safety of economic development and reduce transaction costs.

This study aimed to understand whether the increased use of digital technologies improves innovation performance of firms. Previous studies reveal that the more the firms use digital technologies, the more they can be potentially innovative. However, this is a myth. In fact, one of the main limitations of such studies is their undifferentiated approach toward the vast ocean of digital technologies. Yet, given the increasing pervasiveness of digital technologies at all levels, business and society, a question emerges: how they impact the capability of firms to be innovative? Counter-intuitively, we argue that most frequently used digital technologies have very low impact on innovation performance of firms as innovation is the result of creativity and of constant R&D efforts. By contrast, excess use of digital technologies may even deplete the long-run innovation capability of firms, for instance, by impoverishing the relational capital. We performed two different statistical analysis to understand whether this intuition was grounded and hypotheses would be confirmed. First, we used a principal component analysis to identify the digital technologies that are salient for innovation performance. Second, we conducted a multivariate analysis of variance to understand if the identified technologies predicted innovation performance. All tests were conducted on a large-scale sample of firms operating the European Union. The findings confirmed that digital technologies have very low impact on innovation performance, whilst R&D expenses are the most reliable predictor of innovation. These results challenge the false belief that digital technologies improve innovation performance. At a practical level, the results suggest that decision makers should debias themselves from considering digital technologies as the ultimate ingredient for a successful innovative firm, as this may backfire eventually.

Despite the complex interdependencies in today’s digital news ecology, it is still common to study digital journalism primarily by looking at how ‘non-journalists’ are influencing journalists from ‘outside’ the field of professional journalism. When it comes to how digital journalism is shaping non-journalists, we mostly find audience research or research on the effects of journalistic reporting. We argue that understanding journalism’s role in society today requires us to more broadly ask how imaginaries about journalism influence all kinds of actors that make up our digital public. In this paper, we therefore discuss how imaginaries about journalism shape the practices and identity of Mozilla, an organization best known for the development of the Firefox web browser. Mozilla currently explores collaborations with, or support of journalism, and we argue that this exploration is shaped by imaginaries about journalism. Using a Mozilla project as an example that seeks to support alternatives to advertising as the dominant way to finance journalistic content online, we show how Mozilla is trying to support its own mission by supporting organizations whose practices and values are considered compatible with this mission. We argue that Mozilla is not aiming to support ‘journalism’ as such, but a particular and rather traditional idea of fact-oriented journalism that facilitates political deliberation. Our findings suggest that studying how particular imaginaries about digital journalism influence non-journalists can help illuminate journalism’s role in today's digital news ecology beyond its ‘democratic function’ and contribute to a more nuanced understanding of the digital transformation as a whole.

The digital transformation of health services causes an increasing number of digital health service providers in Indonesia. The user shares their experiences and reviews each other on the online platform. This study aims to understand user perceptions of m-health services in Indonesia based on m-health service quality with a big data approach. Research using text mining is derived from the results of the reviews of the application Alodokter and Halodoc. User-generated content was gathered from the platform Google Play Store in the period April to December 2020. Based on the sentiment analysis, Alodokter performs well with 73% positive and 27% negative, while Halodoc also dominated with 86% positive and 14% negative. User reviews are categorized based on three dimensions of health service quality with a multiclass classification. It is possible to identify the word networks that often appear in user reviews through text network analysis. The dimension that reviews chiefly on Alodokter and Halodoc is perceived outcome quality. The result of this study could help or use as guidance to be a reference for evaluations to improve Indonesia's quality of m-health services.

Analysis of the use of information and communication technologies in organizations makes it possible to determine the speed and intensity of the digital transformation of the economy. In previous studies, specialists evaluated the dynamics of ICT use in organizations using a small range of indicators in the short term. In this study, the analysis of the dynamics of the use of ICT in organizations was carried out for a wide range of indicators in the long term. Based on this approach, I have identified the patterns of digital transformation and the stage of digital maturity of the economy.Purpose of the study. The purpose of this study is to analyze trends in the digital transformation of the Russian economy. To achieve this goal, I calculated the indicators of the speed and intensity of the level of ICT use in the activities of organizations for certain types of technologies.Materials and methods. I analyzed the dynamics of indicators that characterize: the use of Internet access, business process automation systems, websites and EDI systems, and e-commerce. To analyze the dynamics, I used information from surveys of the Federal State Statistics Service. Indicators are presented in annual frequency for 2005-2019 for the Russian Federation.Results. I found that the peculiarity of the current stage of digital maturity of organizations lies in reaching the limits of the spread of the Internet. For 2010-2019 the average annual growth rate of the share of organizations using the Internet was 1.1%. One of the main directions of digital transformation is the automation of the organization’s business processes. However, the potential for automation has been unevenly realized in a number of areas. The share of organizations using CRM, ERP, SCM - systems increased 2.7 times in 2010-2019, to 20.5%. At the same time, the share of organizations using electronic document management increased by 13% over the same period, to 70% in 2019. At the current stage of digital maturity, organizations are showing a high level of participation in e-commerce. The increase in the share of organizations placing orders for goods and services was 23.7%, and the increase in the share of organizations that make settlements with suppliers of ordered goods and services - up to 93%. Also digital economic activity has expanded, the value of data has increased, and this has been reflected in the use of the Internet for the exchange of electronic products.Conclusion. The results of the analysis can be used in studies on modeling and forecasting trends in digital transformation. The findings of the study on trends in the use of ICT in organizations can be useful for a deeper and more comprehensive study of the nature of the dynamics and patterns of development of digital transformation.

This article considers problems of relationship of digital culture and society in the conditions of globalization. The author fully reveals the problems that are indicated in the Concept of the national strategy "Digital Uzbekistan 2030". The negative consequences that can be caused by digital transformation in the period of globalization are also indicated. The problem of the disappearance of traditional labor markets is touched upon, which causes major socio-economic shifts, including in the sphere of labor relations, while the type of professional activity and the nature of labor itself are changing. In the digital economy, the very process of recruiting is changing, i.e. there is a replacement of professions with machines.Digital culture is a world based on computers operating on the principle of digital binary coding. Its origins are the result of a long history of automation. The Republic of Uzbekistan is represented in many foreign and international indices and studies that indirectly assess the level of the country's readiness for digital transformation. And here the author raises the issue of cybercrime, where the problems of vulnerability of human rights and the protection of his personal data are highlighted. Thus, the study of the impact of digital communications on culture and society is associated with the presence and need to solve a number of emerging problems, where our state pays special attention to determining the goals, objectives and measures for the implementation of the domestic and foreign policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of application of information and communication technologies.

In the post-pandemic era, coronaviruses will forge a long-term coexistence with humanity, and the fight against the pandemic will become the normal. With international social isolation and limited physical space for communication during the COVID-19 pandemic, the digital communication of cultural heritage based on internet technology has not only proven the importance and necessity of cultural heritage digitalization, but will also greatly accelerate the digital transformation that has already begun. In the post-pandemic era, the accumulation of rich digital data on cultural heritage will form the basis for further cultural communication. However, the collection of digital data is not the final link in this digital chain. Effectively leveraging the advantages of the digital technology – which spreads rapidly and has a broad audience as well as vivid information presentation – to integrate and digitally process the existing and emerging cultural heritage data will continuously combine the cultural heritage with new communication technologies. We should use diversified media platforms to achieve further breakthroughs in the communication model, present the digital communication content of the cultural heritage showing the characteristics of the times, and form real and virtual interaction of cultural heritage in a converged media environment, in order to further ease interpersonal isolation and even space-time constraints brought about by the pandemic, reconstruct the communication ecology of cultural heritage, and inherit and utilize the precious wealth left to humanity by history.

The study aims to identify the role of local government and its transformation in response to the COVID-19. It also shows how local governments extended the scope of accountability and transparency to strengthen democracy. The study followed the social survey method and collected data online through Google Docs form. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics to generate expected results and test the hypothesis by the Spearman correlation coefficient. The study found local governments were positive during COVID-19 to provide services and offered more public engagement in policy formulation, thus more democratic. The health sector has shown the highest priority, with food and environmental services. Inefficient management capacity of leaders and apathy in public engagement hamper resource mobilization at the local level. During COVID-19, ICT intervention and innovation for digital transformation in local governance increased accountability and transparency through easy and effective participation of mass people to strengthen local democracy to respond effectively against COVID-19. © 2021 WITPress. PurposeThe hospitality industry experienced an unanticipated challenge from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, research in this area is scarce. Accordingly, this study aims to unfold a three-angled research agenda to intensify the knowledge advancement in the hospitality sector. It proposes a theoretical framework by extending the protection motivation theory (PMT) to explain the guest’s intent to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics as a protective measure in reaction to COVID-19.Design/methodology/approachThe research is centered on outlining the pertinent literature on hospitality management practices and the guest’s transformed behavior during the current crisis. This study intends to identify a research agenda based on investigating hospitality service trends in today’s changing times.FindingsThe study sets out a research agenda that includes three dimensions as follows: AI and robotics, cleanliness and sanitation and health care and wellness. This study’s findings suggest that AI and robotics may bring out definite research directions at the connection of health crisis and hospitality management, taking into account the COVID-19 crisis.Practical implicationsThe suggested research areas are anticipated to propel the knowledge base and help the hospitality industry retrieve the COVID-19 crisis through digital transformation. AI and robotics are at the cusp of invaluable advancement that can revive the hotels while re-establish guests’ confidence in safe hotel practices. The proposed research areas are likely to impart pragmatic lessons to the hospitality industry to fight against disruptive situations.Originality/valueThis study stands out to be pioneer research that incorporated AI and robotics to expand the PMT and highlights how behavioral choices during emergencies can bring technological revolution.

In the present context, the issues of sustainable development of commercial banks are becoming particularly relevant, since they largely determine the state of the country’s economy as a whole. At the same time, commercial banks operate under the influence of various factors of the internal and external environment, digital transformation and the transition to the fourth industrial revolution, which significantly changes the conditions of their functioning. The time lag in which a credit institution can be in a relatively static, stable state is reduced. In this regard, there is a need to develop a methodology for assessing the sustainable development of commercial banks. This paper aims to develop theoretical provisions and methods for assessing the sustainable development of commercial banks using the analytic hierarchy process. As a result of the research, theoretical approaches to the disclosure of the economic content of the sustainable development of commercial banks, as well as existing A methodological approach to assessing the sustainability of the bank’s development is justified, considering five components: economic, social, environmental, institutional and technological. Within the framework of this approach, criteria for their assessment are proposed for each of the components of the sustainability of the development of commercial banks, a scale of their relative importance is constructed and vectors are determined based on expert assessments. The authors make a conclusion that it is necessary to distinguish four types of stability of the bank’s development: absolute stability, normal stability, unstable state, crisis state. This approach can be used by commercial banks when developing a strategy for the sustainable development of financial and credit organizations. Prospects for further research may be associated with the development of alternative methods for assessing the sustainable development of commercial banks.

Purpose Artificial intelligence (AI) will be performing 52% of the tasks in companies by 2025. The increasing adoption of AI is generating technological turbulence in the business environment. Previous studies have also shown that employees are aware of the high risk of losing their jobs when being replaced by AI. The risk of employees engaging in opportunistic behaviors, such as knowledge hiding, is thus fairly high. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyze the mediating effect of employee’s AI awareness on the relationship between technological turbulence generated by AI and the three types of knowledge hiding: evasive hiding, playing dumb and rationalized hiding. Design/methodology/approach Structural equations by the partial least squares method were used to test the proposed research model. Findings The most interesting finding is that employee’s AI and robotics awareness fulfills almost all mediating functions in the relationship between technological turbulence generated by AI and the three types of knowledge hiding. Originality/value The results show that knowledge hiding in the digital age is first and foremost a strategy by employees to sabotage and induce failure in process automation, to reduce the risk of being replaced in the workplace by AI. This study indicates that employees are willing to hide knowledge in all possible ways when perception that AI is a threat to their job increases. In other words, technological turbulence generated by AI and employee’s AI awareness are the two great new triggers of knowledge hiding in the digital age.

PurposeThis study aims at identifying the contribution of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) integration into supply chains (SCs) to the enhancement of SC resilience.Design/methodology/approachA scoping review was conducted so that the relevant literature on SC resilience, and I4.0 integrated into SC management was examined.FindingsThe authors summarize the main findings from existing research and propose three research directions: (1) empirical validation of the contribution of I4.0 ICTs to SC resilience; (2) explore the role of processing-actuation technologies in enhancing restorative capacity; and (3) integration between I4.0 ICTs and omni-channel strategy as a means to resilience development at consumer and retail levels. The literature on the design of resilient smart SCs is far outnumbered by works reporting applications of I4.0 ICTs at different SC tier levels. However, the authors’ scoping review organizes the information available on these themes, setting the ground for the development of new theoretical propositions.Originality/valueThe integration of digital technologies from I4.0 can fundamentally change the SC management, acting as enablers of a more effective response to disruptions. However, the digital transformation of SCs is still incipient, and literature is particularly sparse when considering the contribution of I4.0 to the resilience of SCs.

Purpose This paper aims to investigate how the COVID-19 health crisis could help business schools move towards more responsible management education (RME). Business schools have been extensively blamed in previous crises for not educating their students in a responsible way. The COVID-19 pandemic could be the pivotal opportunity for business schools to regain legitimacy and a wake-up call to accelerate their journey towards RME. The authors aim to outline an illustration of the transition to a hybrid teaching model and how such educational reconfiguration might lead to more sustainable and RME, also beyond COVID-19. Design/methodology/approach A qualitative approach is proposed to analyse and decrypt the challenges and opportunities of a hybrid approach, its implications for the transformation of business schools and RME. This study also includes a state-of-the-art literature review, a specific investigation of the case of ESCP, the European cross-border multi-campus business school, and in-depth interviews with stakeholders impacted by the crisis. Findings The health crisis demonstrated the unprecedented capability of higher education to embrace rapid and profound change. Furthermore, the pandemic served as a wake-up call in that it may even have caused the progress of business schools, previously somewhat reluctant, towards more socially responsible and sustainable thinking. Thus, the schools have used the COVID-19 crisis as an opportunity to regain legitimacy and be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Practical implications The paper pulls together a multitude of suggestions for higher education in general and business schools in particular. Originality/value Combining two of higher education’s main challenges, namely, digitalisation and sustainability and applying the principles for responsible management education framework to map and analyse the pandemic’s implications, this paper provides a new, compelling and inspiring resource for business schools on their path to a more responsible management approach and education.

PurposeThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has taken society, business and industries by surprise leading to a worldwide economic recession, pushing organizations to rethink their business model in order to shift from activity shutdown toward sustainable growth. The purpose of this research is to comprehend the implications and relationship between entrepreneurship, innovation, digitization and digital transformation aspects as the levers to achieve this goal.Design/methodology/approachFollowing the existing literature, an empirical approach has been established involving a quantitative analysis of secondary information obtained from official datasets and reports.FindingsThe COVID-19 pandemic was found to be an unfortunate accelerator regarding both consumers' habits and organizations' innovation and digital transformation, breaking with the past leading to new sustainable growth business models.Practical implicationsThe research provides an underlying outcome that addresses how wealth and economic value could be generated within the framework of new economic models in a post-pandemic environment.Originality/valueThe research highlights how the pandemic has disrupted what was known about sustainable business growth, and how this affects the future of business beyond the pandemic scenario, transforming the way society, businesses and customers interact.

The article discusses the issues of further development of the human rights system in the context of digital transformation and modern scientific and technological progress. It is noted that at present there is an evolution of human rights, the peculiarities of their implementation, the formation of new ones. The right to access the Internet has been recognized in a number of foreign countries. In Russia, digital rights, the "right to oblivion" and other rights have been legally enshrined. It is proved that at present there is a transition to the next level of both understanding of recognized rights and freedoms, the peculiarities of their implementation, and the formation of new rights that are unthinkable in the so-called pre-digital era. As the most significant factor in the evolution of human rights, the introduction of artificial intelligence systems and biotechnologies is highlighted, which will change not only society and the state, but also the daily life of a person and his essence, which will require the modernization of the conceptual established provisions of law, including the understanding of the subject who possesses them. Modernity allows us to state the accomplished symbiosis of man and technology, which is increasingly called a cyborg in law. At the same time, it should be recognized that the legal aspects of cyborgization are still poorly studied. The experience of legal regulation of relations connected with the introduction of digital technological solutions into the human body is not enough. The author believes that the preliminary regulation in this area should be to a certain extent ahead of the curve, and without a scientific understanding of the emerging legal problems, it is difficult to develop a balanced legal regulation.

The concept of digitainability has recently been suggested to underscore potential cross-fertilization effects between digitalization and sustainability, which have often been neglected. This article draws on an innovation-based view to develop a conceptual framework for combining digitalization and sustainability in firms’ strategic initiatives. It distinguishes four settings depending on whether firms pursue either digitalization or sustainability – or both or none of them to a strong degree. Beyond the individual importance of the two megatrends, their potential positive and negative interdependencies will gain further importance, and this article underscores the need for overcoming a potential dark side of digital solutions in terms of their carbon footprint and energy consumption to enable a sustainable digital transformation. In addition, digitainability offers the opportunity to move beyond optimization and cost savings due to digitalization and sustainability initiatives in order to capture the cross-fertilization potential of these two megatrends for innovation and new business development.
