The field of disability studies in India is fledgling, yet burgeoning. Professor (Dr) Nilika Mehrotra is an exemplary scholar from this field, who has played a pioneering role in situating the scholarship on persons with disabilities (PWDs) in a distinctly South Asian narrative. She has not only written extensively on the South Asian experience of disability but has brought together important scholarship by several academics in this area in a recent edited work. Her research on the intersectionality between gender and disability, as well as on the contribution of the state’s schemes on enhancing the rights of PWDs, has shaped the post-coloniality of the discipline in India. As an anthropologist, she has sought to place the experiences of the disabled at the heart of her theorisation, critiquing a top-down approach to representing disability. In this interview, she discusses the inherent interdisciplinarity of disability rights studies and the evolution of disability rights movements in India.

Knowledge sharing is a key challenge for modern organizations, especially in periods of uncertainty such as that of the current pandemic. This conceptual paper argues that intergenerational learning (IGL) is a useful intervention to address the challenge of knowledge sharing in the New Ways of Working. We conducted an integrated literature review based on the PRISMA methodology. Our findings reveal the limited adoption of reverse mentoring in practice, indicating the need to have a more curated intervention to promote knowledge sharing in modern organizations. We advance the discourse about reverse mentoring with the aim of overcoming its challenges and presenting a self-driven approach to sharing the tacit knowledge inherent in an organization. The study contributes by presenting a conceptual model of IGL that promotes knowledge sharing during the COVID-19 pandemic through the leveraging of the multi-generational workforce's diversity. Further, the study has implications for practice that can aid effective knowledge management in the current times. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Natural resources are means to satisfy human wants which exist in natural environment and which are available without any type of human endeavour. The degradation of natural resources such as land, water, forest etc. may have an adverse impact on livelihood of rural people. The present review paper determines diverse roles of women for management of various natural resources in India. Vigorous participation of women in decisions and activities related to conservation and well-organized utilization of renewable and non-renewable natural resources is solution of this world wide issue i.e., natural resource degradation. Over exploitation and botched utilization of natural resources can be protected in India through involvement of women in policies and programs made for natural resource management. They will also serve as a treasure of indigenous information for conserving natural resources.

Global warming, adverse climate change, and depletion of resources indicate the danger of sustainability on earth. The ignorance of companies on such severe issues in emerging markets may be disastrous for them as well as for their customers. The companies operating in emerging markets that are in the process of executing sustainable marketing programmes are truly showing the way forward. This chapter captures the opportunities and challenges of different sustainable marketing practices adopted by companies in emerging markets. The study is qualitative and exploratory. It uses the phenomenological type of qualitative research. Data was analyzed to propose the conceptual framework of sustainable marketing practices in emerging markets. The chapter concludes on the context based on challenges and opportunities for companies practising in emerging markets. The results suggest that apart from environmental and social value for money (economic), other factors are essential for sustainable marketing practices. The well-developed viable marketing strategy which strives for a sustainable future brings organizations competitive advantage and growth opportunities. The insights on the development of emerging markets were utilized to develop a framework for sustainable marketing practices.

Formulations from the traditional Indian medicine, Ayurveda, have long been considered to have potent life-style-enhancing effects, possibly by their effect(s) on key life-history attributes. Although several studies have reported beneficial effects of these formulations on different components of life history, few have investigated their concurrent influence on various life-history traits. Here, we report the results of an investigation showing the effect of two well-known Ayurvedic formulations, Guduchi and Madhuyashti, on fecundity and longevity of Drosophila melanogaster. Flies were either grown (i.e., larval exposure) and/or maintained (i.e., adult exposure) on standard food supplemented with 0.5% Guduchi or 0.5% Madhuyashti. It was observed that the longevity of adult flies of both sexes was not affected on feeding Guduchi food, but fecundity of the females was greatly enhanced. Fecundity was also found to be affected by the adult food and whether their mates were grown on Guduchi or normal food. Madhuyashti, on the other hand, significantly reduced mean longevity and had a stimulatory effect on female fecundity. This fecundity enhancing effect however seemed to be mediated through its effect on the males. Interestingly, much of these effects interacted with age in a complex way, making it difficult to generalize the overall effect of these formulations on the reproductive output of the flies. Our study underlines the importance of evaluating the interacting effects of these (and similar) formulations on a range of life-history traits in a holistic way to understand their utility better.

Y-tube olfactometer study was carried out to observe the orientation response of egg-larval parasitoid Chelonus blackburni Cameron towards various concentrations of volatile cues emitted from three potato varieties and Phthorimaea operculella Zeller. Volatile cues were subjected to Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) profiling to identify the signaling molecules present in the pool of volatile cues. Out of 16 selected volatile cues concentrations obtained from plant and host insect sources, 10 cues acted as significant attractant for C. blackburni. Volatile cues emitted from Kufri Surya in vegetative stage were able to generate highest stimulation in C. blackburni. Among volatiles obtained from larval and adult stage of P. operculella, adult cues were found to be more efficient in the alteration of foraging behaviour of targeted parasitoid. GC-MS of targeted cues revealed the presence of fifteen saturated hydrocarbons ranging from C12 to C54; varying in concentrations. Study specified that C. blackburni preferred cues could be exploited to enhance the host searching efficacy during Integrated Pest Management releases.

The paper discusses various characteristics of fly ash and the possibility of its utilization in the various sectors. During the last decade, India saw about 70% increase in the production of fly ash but roughly 130% increase in the utilisation. About 60% of Indian demand of electricity is fulfilled by coal fired thermal power plant. Fly ash is micron-sized powder obtained by burning of coal. At present 170 million tonnes of fly ash is produced in India annually. Environmental pollution by fly ash is a major concern all over the world. Not many people know the fact that the major factor of much talked air pollution in New Delhi is because of fly ash originating from the thermal power plants of Badarpur and Rajghat. As per the Court orders, now both the plants are shut down and consequently there should be reduction in the pollution. Disposal of large amount of fly ash is a serious matter to address.With the appropriate characterization, it can be used as substitute material in various sectors, conserving the resources like soil, sand. Many government agencies have been employed and regulatory framework has been devised for a compressive research and development of potential usage of fly ash.

This chapter proposes to bring forth insights as how media contributes in e-tailing. The success of online retailers owe to the role which media plays in changing the consumer mind. India's retail market value was estimated at $520 billion in 2013, and is expected to grow to $950 billion by 2018. With a CAGR currently pegged at 13%, the Indian e-commerce market is expected to grow the fastest within the Asia-Pacific Region – with its market size doubling every 2-2.5 years. This certainly gives us reason for deep introspection. While the global growth rate of online shoppers is estimated at 8-10%, India currently has more than 10 million online shoppers. With the evolution of the online marketplace, sites like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Jabong and Myntra are thriving which has risen the practice of buying goods online. The media has definitely played vital role in shaping the online retail business.

Integrating digital activities into the broader strategy can be challenging for institutions providing the online education they don’t have yet strong digital capabilities. Indian educational institutes and universities lack in digital strategy skills to conceive a comprehensive plan for responding quickly to customer queries. Digital activities are an increasingly important part of any marketing and sales strategy. The ability to harness the power of digital platforms in the delivery of educational courses cannot be denied. The organization should no longer be only concerned with the simple act of providing the digital course, but also with the innovative strategies through which they interact with students and create a learning environment that is innovative, active, and challenging. The article draws on Bourdieu’s notion of orthodoxy and doxa, whereby a particular view of the world becomes established as a normal, natural and unquestioned truth, as the entry point for the discussion on international organisations and issues of order, disorder and marginality. Every established order, according to Bourdieu, tends to produce very different degrees and with very different means, the naturalisation of its own arbitrariness, whereby it successfully manages to make the world conform to the myth of it being a self-evident and natural order. Such a project as the article argues, given the very constitution of international society is highly problematic, especially from the standpoint of those traditionally located at the very margins of decision making—the subalterns. In deconstructing the meaning and substance of ‘order’ through select case studies, the article seeks to explicitly focus on international organisations as sites of power and control, the processes of institutionalisation and socialisation and the possibilities of change that posit new ways of thinking about issues of order and disorder in international relations.
