Purpose – This research aims to see the development of picture book learning media with the theme of Acehnese culture to stimulate children to know the local culture. Design/methods/approach – This type of research is research and development or often referred to as Research and Development (R&D). The type of data in this research and development consists of two types of data, namely qualitative and quantitative data. Researchers took qualitative data by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation. The quantitative data were obtained from research respondents, which included: material experts, media experts, cultural experts, and learning media users. Findings – The development of picture book media is designed using Corel Draw with design layouts, picture illustrations, smoothing snaps, giving and giving to content/material experts, media experts, and cultural experts to find out the media that has been designed. The results of the experts get a percentage of 100%, media experts get a percentage of 96%, cultural experts get a percentage of 96%, small-scale trials are 3.9, and large-scale trials are 4.6. Research implications/limitations – Based on developing the media and testing the learning media for picture books with the theme of Acehnese culture to stimulate children to know the local culture of Aceh. Constraints faced related to internet connection and mastery of using Corel Draw in designing books. Practical implications – This research contributes in-depth knowledge that the media for learning books with the theme of Acehnese culture can stimulate children to get to know the local culture. Originality/value – This research contributes to understanding and introducing Acehnese culture from early childhood education as a basis for children not to forget the cultures that developed in Aceh. Figurative language is one part of semantic study which is usually used in poems and song to enrich the meaning of that literary works. This research aimed to find out the kinds of figurative language, the most popular kinds of figurative language, and the meaning lies behind Speechless song lyrics by Naomi Scott. The method of this study used descriptive qualitative design. The source of the data in this research was the lyrics of Speechless song. However, the researchers collected the data by reading the lyrics. The results showed there were three kinds of figurative language used in that song such as: metaphor, hyperbole and personification. Metaphor was the most repeatedly utilized in the song with 53% use, hyperbole was 30% and personification 15%. The meaning lies behind this song tells about feminism or women empowerment. Therefore, all figurative languages used were aimed to convey the personal emotional power of the singer toward her oppressor. It was vividly expressed by Naomi Scott by using those figurative languages in her song lyrics.

The study is aimed to analyse national character building in Novel entitled “Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra. The researcher referred to the list of character building according to Doni Koesoema 2007. The research applied descriptive qualitative research method. The method of gathering data is the Documentation method. The researcher intended to describe the National Character Building based on the utterances and behaviour of the main characters in the Novel. The data analysis is a significant step in a part of this research, because it aims examining the data collection’s validity and reliability. In analysing the data, the procedures are 1) the researcher selected the Novel. 2) The researcher read the Novel. 3) The researcher tried to find the National Character Building from “Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra”. 4) The researcher analysed the data. 5) The researcher drew the conclusion based on the data analysis. Based on the finding of this research, the writer found religious, responsible, hard-working, curious, respectful, inclusive and communicative, peace-loving, and compassion in the novel “Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra”. There are 7 religious, 2 responsible, 3 hard-working, 1 curious, 2 respectful, 2 inclusive and communicative, 7 peace-loving, and 2 compassion in the novel.

The purpose of this research aimed to know the students’ perception on their online Extensive reading learning. Survey design was used to conduct this study, and therefore, the questioner was constructed as the instruments of the study besides the researcher himself. The participants of this research were 44 students of first semester in the Accounting Department at FLSP class of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (Class A). The researcher adopted the questionnaire from a previous study conducted by Yogurtcu (2013), Tseng (2015), and Torres (2017), and the questionnaire showed the students’ perceptions of their online learning. The questionnaire consists of 20 statements and each statement has five alternative responses from 1 to 5: Strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree, and strongly agree. Google Form is the media to distribute the questionnaire due to the global pandemic of Covid 19. The results of the study indicate that students show positive response towards the use of Extensive reading in online learning. The students perceived that benefits of the activities had substantial effect on increasing their vocabularies, and students focused on educational evaluation they read during the semester. Based on the data, there are advantages, they are: we can complete to read the whole text, we can determine mind idea and supporting idea of the texts, The online reading activities helped me to get more interested in reading text, we can easily understand the text from online reading activities, and there is disadvantage, they are: distraction (Tools and Signal).

The use of digital applications is very helpful in teaching and learning process, especially for language classes. The existence of technology is very helpful for teachers to increase student interest in learning about English language lesson. The development of the digital world is used by teachers to be used as a tool to facilitate student learning. This research focuses on the role of using a digital application called Wattpad which will make students diligently read English reading texts, so that they become more skilled in learning. In this research, the researchers defined the term digital application to explain the use of digital application in an effort to improve English as a foreign language learning skill. The related review of literature shows that the use of multi-media technology can improve students’ language learning skills because matches their interests. Therefore, their English skills can be better.

This research aims at analyzing the character building of selected poetries in Lang Leav’s “Sea of Strangers”. In this research, a qualitative approach is used as the research design, and the data was analyzed using content analysis. “Sea of Strangers” is a continuation of Lang Leav book series Love & Misadventures, Lullabies, and The Universe of Us. There were eight poetries analyzed and several character buildings found in those poetries. The character buildings that appear are the character of patient, hard-working, religious, strong, creative, independent, confident, being realistic, respectful, honest, caring, and loving. From the eight poetries analyzed, almost all of those poetries explained the women's strength when they feel the pain of heartbreaking, waiting, romance, and insight into everyday life. Besides the beauty of the words used by the writer, these poetries also contain a lot of inspiring messages.

From time to time, the communication media in order to propose social criticism which is expected to provide better changes are increasingly diverse. One of them is through the delivery of messages in the lyrics of a song. Beyonce is one of the artist who often uses song as a media to propose her social criticism. In the case of the death of George Floyd a black American, murdered by the white Minesotta police (white supremacist) he released an album with one of the song in it entitled "Black Parade" to convey her response to this case. This research aims to reveal the meaning contained in the lyrics of the song. In order to find this meaning, the researchers use a qualitative approach to the type of document studies. There are three findings of meaning implied in the lyrics of this song, there are self-confidence, social criticism (racism) and race emancipation.

This study aimed at identifying the religious character values and to describe them presented by the main figures in Serenade Senja. It was conducted by qualitative research. The procedure of the research was reading the book repeatedly, focusing on religious values explained in the book, adding some references relevant to this study, and searching various sources to analyze the data. The religious values were found in three short stories namely KepunyaanMu, Kertas Kusam, and Serenade Senja. The characters of this story were described as religious characters. They did the worship diligently, remembered Allah anytime, kept promises, respected and supported others, being sincere, respectful, friendly, and grateful in their life. Those characters could be analyzed from the various part of the story. It could be concluded that literature becomes a media to convey the message which is available in the story to make the reader gaining the benefit and actualizing in real-life so that the life becomes better life in the next future.

In education, teaching literature is an essential way to strengthen students’ character building. A kind of literature to teach character building is drama. Drama is literary work that contains so many characters. It can be used as a tool for character development to students who have been taught with literature. This article aims to discuss the characters of Nora Helmer (a woman lived in Victorian era when women had powerlessness) in A Doll’s House Drama written by Henrik Ibsen. The method used is descriptive qualitative. It concentrated on providing explanation in the form of description about Nora Helmer’s characters that could be taught as students’ character building. The analysis of Nora’s characters results several findings. Woman’s figure represented by Nora’s characters are loyal, love and compassion; obedient; care and helpful; patience and spirited; responsible; brave. The findings show that a woman at that time even though she had a lot of difficulties, she tried to solve the problem, she tried to be the best for her husband and family. But when she was disrespected, she had to be brave to uphold her dignity. This article expects the students can increase their good characters, competence, conscience, and compassion in learning language.

This research figures out the characters and the messages or moral values of a play namely Lady Windermere’s Fan. The drama was designed based on Heathcote’s (1984) understanding of drama in education in order to cultivate creative pedagogy and ‘character’ building. The data was gained by reading the drama script based on existing documents. The result showed that every character has various characters and each of them is related to others. The main character has fundamentally strengthened the plot and has important effects to other characters. The moral values that can be seen from this play are that all humankind is far from the word “perfect” even if they are considered themselves as good, kind, and wise people. They still tend to have a shortage.

Digitization encourages journalism to transform. Since the development of digital media, communication and media scholars have predicted journalism to develop at two levels. First, journalism evolves along with technological developments and is involved in media disruption. Second, journalism sticks with professionalism and establish technology as a tool to realize social responsibility. Today we are dealing with the transformation in journalism that we get from disrupted contents, disrupted media companies, and collaboration among media institutions. Various digital journalism platforms have emerged as a manifestation of the diversity of content and diversity of media ownership. This was an exploratory study that aimed to explain collaborations among various media in the digital ecosystem. The focus of this study was to map media networks through media data distributed in various official media or regulators. The results of this study showed that in a digital ecosystem that promises many opportunities, digital journalism still has to deal with the dilemma between social responsibility and the political economy of media. On the one hand, digital journalism faces disruption which serves as a significant factor that encourages journalism to transform. On the other hand, digital journalism also deals with a natural selection that forces them to collaborate, i.e. a manifestation of the political economy of media. This paper aims to describe the content of tobacco company websites and social media then evaluates whether they have complied with the regulation or not. As addictive product cigarette has become one of the most regulated product in the world, including in Indonesia. While almost all countries in the world have a total ban on tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship (TAPS) in all media; Indonesia only limits TAPS, not totally bans it. The methods in this research are observing five websites from the five biggest tobacco companies in Indonesia and their social media, between May-June 2019, focusing on outlook; content; updating frequency; and link to other media. The result shows that the tobacco industry’s websites and social media are a form of indirect tobacco advertising. The five sites practicing brand stretching strategy. The sites and social media are targeting young people by focusing their content on activity, product, lifestyle, and profile of upper and middle-class young people with their typical language. By doing so, the companies normalize their brand into young people’s life. The conclusion of the research shows tobacco industry promotion strategy through new media seems to outsmart the TAPS regulation, whereas, in practice, this promotion is conducting several violations on existing regulation in Indonesia.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to test hypotheses on the effects of native advertising on young media consumers. First, it aims to discover whether the young audience activates news-based schema or advertising schema when exposed to different themes of native advertising. Second, this research tests whether there is a relationship between the theme of native advertising and the credibility of the media in which it is placed and the ability of young media consumers to recognize the advertising. Third, it attempts to seek a possible relationship between the recognition of native advertising and the credibility of the advertiser. Design/methodology/approach An experimental study was carried out using 186 university students in the greater Jakarta area whose ages ranged between 18 and 22 years. Participants were randomly assigned to six groups (2 × 3 experimental design) and asked to respond to a set of questions related to their awareness of native advertising. They were also asked their opinions on the advertiser’s credibility before and after they were told that the content was native advertising. Findings Results show that most of these young media consumers could not spot native advertising and have difficulties in recognizing political native advertising. The findings also point out a more profound decline in advertiser credibility among groups exposed to political native advertising compared to nonpolitical native advertising. Research limitations/implications Results show that most of these young media consumers could not spot native advertising and have difficulties in recognizing political native advertising. Originality/value This research shows that the theme of the native advertising has a significant influence on the ability of media consumers to recognize native advertising. The results indicate that non-commercial native advertising is highly deceptive. This finding is valuable for the improvement of advertising regulation, especially on non-commercial native advertising.

This study aims to examine the attitude of the government to maintain its position in the broadcast media system. Using the case study method, the author examined series of regulation of broadcasting , minutes of meeting, and media reporting on two broadcasting bill -- the Broadcasting Act of 1997, the Broadcasting Act of 2002 —and the revision of the Broadcasting Act on two parliament periods (2009 - 2014 and 2014 - 2019). The results of this study indicate the government is trying to maintain its position as the main regulator of broadcasting. Even though the Broadcasting Act of 2002 stipulates the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) as the main regulator, the government still strives to be a broadcast regulator by giving birth to regulations that restore its position as the main regulator. This can be seen from the different standpoints in the two parliament periods in the revision of the Broadcasting Law: The 2009-2014 parliament strengthened the authority of the KPI, while the 2014-2019 parliament downgraded the KPI's authority and made the government the main regulator. The broadcast industry from the start wanted the government as the main regulator, while civil society rejected the government as the main regulator of broadcasting. Objective To understand the experience of spirituality in pregnancy and labor from the perspective of Indonesian Muslim women. Method This study used a qualitative descriptive design and analysis to explore the meaning and experiences of spirituality in pregnancy. Seven Indonesian Muslim women who had a baby under one-year-old participated in this study. Results This study found 5 themes related to the Muslim women's experience of spirituality during pregnancy: (1) Submission to God makes it easier for mothers to endure pregnancy and childbirth; (2) Meaning-making through spiritual stories enhances confidence, motivation, and persistence during pregnancy and childbirth; (3) Remembrance of God is a way of self-control, overcoming anxiety and labor pains; (4) Faith in God's help raises self-confidence during labor and delivery; and (5) Faith and close relationship with God can overcome the challenge of pregnancy and childbirth. Conclusion Spirituality strongly affects Indonesian Muslim women's behavior in caring for their pregnancy. This study offers insights into the experiences of Indonesian Muslim women in living their spiritual values during pregnancy and labor. Nurses should be sensitive to the spirituality of the women and integrate this element in providing maternal nursing care.

A good technique is required by the students to help them in acquring, extending and developing their English vocabulary. The aims of this research is to investigate the effects of personal vocabulary note (PVN) technique through Al-Qur'an in improving students' English vocabulary mastery. This study was an experimental model consisting of two groups: experimental and control group; it was conducted at Islamic Boarding School of Babul Khaer Kalumeme Bulukumba, South Sulawesi. Samples of the study were 30 students, 15 students were experimental group and 15 students were control group. The data were collected with pre-test, treatment and post-test. Writeen vocabulary test was administered to both groups of experimental and control; and it was analyzed and interpreted by means of SPSS 18.0 program. The results of the research indicated that personal vocabulary note technique through Al-Qur'an gives significant effect on students' vocabulary improvement. The result of the students' vocabulary score improvement from pre-test to post-test demonstrated significant differences. The research found that sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 lower than 0.05. Comparison of the students' improvement beteween the two groups was 0.000 which meant that the improvement was significant.

Its history also confirms that as the science and its supporting technology are improving in account with fiqh terms, both are important steps to determine the accuracy of the Qibla direction., Penjabaran tentang sejarah dan fikih kiblat tidak bisa dilepaskan dari situs kakbah di Mekkah. Dari situ bisa diketahui problematika yang dialami umat ketika menghadapi persoalan arah salat yang benar, terutama dari mereka yang tinggal jauh dari Kakbah. Sejarahnya juga menguatkan bahwa seiring peningkatan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi pendukungnya yang bisa dipertanggung-jawabkan secara fikih adalah langkah penting untuk akurasi arah kiblat.

This study shows the strategies that people use on Instagram to present themselves as healthy individuals by cycling during the pandemic. The positive self-image on Instagram is an inseparable part of individual communication patterns in their social interactions in the digital world. The cycling trend during the COVID-19 pandemic is one of the Instagram users' strategies to reach positive self-presentation, among others by integrating their cycling physical achievement data obtained through the Online Social Fitness Networks (OSFNs) platform. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The data were obtained through observation and in-depth interviews with four informants. During the (first?) six months of the pandemic, the researchers observed the informants' Instagram feed and stories and interviewed them to explore their strategy and motivation related to their self-presentation content on Instagram. This study finds that the powerful strategy of self-presentation on Instagram is the "complete package". The informants present themselves by considering famous places as the photo background and as symbols that reinforce their social status. They also add popular hashtags, tag Instagram accounts featuring the glamorous lifestyle of the urban cyclists on their post, and exhibit their cycling data from the OFSNs platform.

The research purpose is to outlines and analyzes social media literacy rates on youth in Bima District. The research was conduct in Soro village. This research classified as a quantitative study with a survey approach. Sampling determined by the probability sampling method. Data collection using questionnaires and document studies. The data analysis technique used is the scoring method with the Likert scale. The results showed that in general the level of social media literacy in youth in Lariti Beach tourism area precisely in the Soro Village classified as a medium level which is the ability of Technical skills already relatively high, the ability of critical understanding is medium, and the ability of communicative abilities classified as medium.

This study aims to describe the struggles experienced by the two main characters in the novel in getting their freedom and also to elaborate the important of freedom for the main characters as human rights. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive method with the sociology of literature approach. The primary data were collected from descriptions and utterances of the main characters and narrators in the novel. The supporting data were obtained from the library, internet, journals, and articles. The results of this research indicate that there is struggle of the main characters in obtaining their freedom as a human in this novel. Huckleberry Finn as the main character fought for his freedom from a drunk and abusive father, while Jim, as the second main character fought for his freedom from slavery. The two figures then met and made an adventure together to get their own freedom.

This study aimed to determine the pregnancy percentage of Ongole (PO) breed cattle by estrus synchronization and ovulation synchronization. This study used 22 cattle that were divided into three groups: Estrus synchronized cattle (K1, n= 5); ovulation synchronized heifers using ovsynch (K2, n= 6); and ovulation synchronized cow using ovsynch (K3, n= 11). Parameters measured were diameter of corpus luteum (CL) in estrus synchronization, follicular diameter upon synchronization and artificial insemination (AI), and percentage of pregnant cattle. This study aims at investigating teachers’ and students’perceptions of autonomous learning in English language teaching and to what extent the teachers foster students’ autonomous learning. A set of questionnaire was distributed to 30 English teachers and 283 third-year secondary school students in the provincial part of Indonesia. The participants in this study were randomly selected. Furthermore, to obtain the supplementary data, an interview was conducted to two students from each school. The findings indicate that albeit positive tenets on autonomous learning were held by both teachers and students, they still had inadequate understandings of what autonomous learning concepts are. In terms of exposing students to autonomous learning, the teachers possess highly-driven endeavor. This study ends with suggestions for teachers and teacher education programs.

Background: Medical error has been defined as an unintended act or one that does not achieve its intended health outcome. Medical error causes not only monetary loss, but also lost of patient’s trust in the healthcare system, low patient satisfaction, and degraded morale among healthcare professionals, who often feel helpless to change the situation. Patient harm from medical error can occur at the individual or system level. Medical error may arise due to poor doctor-nurse professional relationship and poor health care team communication. This study aimed to assess the doctor-nurse professional relationship and health care team communication in the hospital setting. Subjects and Method: This was a cross sectional study conducted at 8 teaching hospitals under-cooperation with Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, including Bantul Hospital, PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Yogyakarta City Hospital, Magelang Hospital, Purworejo Regional Hospital, Salatiga Regional Hospital, Temanggung Regional General Hospital, and Wonosobo Regional Hospital. A sample of 61 medical co-assistants was selected for this study. The study theme was doctor-nurse professional relationship and health care team communication. The data were collected by questionnaire, in-depth interview, and direct observation. Results: Doctor-nurse professional relationship, communication, and collaboration, in the medical decision process, discussion for the medical decision process, and dissemination of medical information to patients, were still weak. There were 2 hospitals with the lowest rating points of doctor-nurse relationship and medical team communication, namely Purworejo District Hospital and Yogyakarta City Hospital among the six other hospitals. Conclusion: Doctor-nurse professional relationship and the quality of communication between doctors and other health professionals is still poor. This research employed a mixed method that applied monolingual class. The population of this research was the eighth grade students in academic year 2018-2019. There were 65 students spread in 3 classes ( VIII.1, VIII.2, and VIII.3) and each class consist appropriately 20-22 students. The researcher took simple random and chose VIII.2 as the representative and the number of total sample is 21 students. The data of the research were collected by using two kinds of instruments, namely reading comprehension test and questionnaire. Reading test was used to obtain data of the students’ reading comprehension ability and questionnaire was used to know the students interest in Reading Comprehension by using Humor Story. The result of data analysis showed that there was significant difference between the students’ score after they were taught by using Humor Story and before they were taught by Humor Story. It was proved by the mean score of the post-test which was higher than the mean score of pre-test (57.57>40.33). Furthermore, the result of the p-value (0.000) was lower than level of significant (α = 0.05); which means that H1 was accepted. Then, the analysis of interest by using Likert Scale indicated that teacing reading comprehension by using humor story, the students were interested. It was proved by 57% students who were strongly interested, 33% students who were interested and 10% students who were moderate. Based on data analysis, the research concluded that: (1) the use of Humor Story effective in improves students’ reading comprehension; (2) the use of Humor Story makes the students interested to learn reading comprehension
