Glass sealing materials applied in Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) are prone to excessive softening and outflow at high temperatures, while cracks tend to form upon cooling. To address these challenges, this study develops mullite fiber reinforced glass sealing materials based on K 2 O–Na 2 O–CaO–BaO–SiO 2 silicate glass, incorporating varying amounts of mullite fibers. The mechanical properties, phase structural transformations, and microstructural changes of these composite sealing materials are thoroughly investigated. The fibers form a network skeletal structure within the sealing material, enhancing the material's strength and high-temperature thermal stability. By incorporating 10% mullite fibers, the G10 sealing material, as compared to pure glass, exhibits a 44% increase in flexural strength and an 85% improvement in maximum strain value. Additionally, G10 boasts a thermal expansion coefficient of 10.25 × 10−6 K−1, demonstrating excellent chemical compatibility with interconnect and achieving tight adhesion at the interface. Most importantly, G10 possesses superior sealing capabilities, maintaining its gastightness even after undergoing 1000 h and 7 thermal cycles without any degradation. • The mullite fiber improves the strength and toughness of the sealing materials. • Mullite fiber form a support structure in the glass and prevent the glass flowing out. • The additional mullite fiber significantly hindered the chromium diffusion at the sealant/interconnect interface. • The leakage rate of the mullite fiber-glass composited sealing material is less than 0.002 sccm cm−1. • The sealant remain gas tightness after 1000 h at 750 °C and 7 thermal cycles. Fibre reinforced metal laminates (FMLs) are widely used in various fields due to their excellent properties. However, the weak interlayer properties of FMLs limit their applications. In this paper, the interlayer properties of FMLs are enhanced by anodising the 2024-T3 aluminium alloy layer in FMLs or by epoxy matrix modification of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs). The effect of both synergistic impacts on the interlayer properties of most FMLs is investigated. The FMLs were manufactured using the wet lay-up technique using 2024-T3 aluminium alloy, E51 epoxy and EW100 glass fibre. The results showed that the type I fracture toughness, tensile strength, flexural strength, interlayer shear strength and single layer shear strength of FMLs after anodic oxidation treatment were increased by 406.4%, 10.3%, 18.3%, 42.6% and 28.3%, respectively, compared with those of pure FMLs. The type I fracture toughness, tensile strength, flexural strength, interlayer shear strength and single layer shear strength of the GNPs-modified FMLs matrix were increased by 280.4%, 3.7%, 6.8%, 34.5% and 19.1%, respectively, compared with those of pure FMLs. Moreover, the synergistic effect of FMLs indicates that the simultaneous anodic oxidation and GNPs modification of FMLs can lead to the best mechanical properties of FMLs. Microscopic images and schematics illustrate the toughening mechanism of anodising and GNPs, including the enhancement of aluminium/resin interface and fibre/resin interface and the enhancement of resin matrix properties. Hybrid kenaf/glass fiber reinforced polymer composites have emerged as promising structural materials, garnering significant attention due to their unique blend of natural kenaf fibers and synthetic glass fibers. However, despite their potential, there remains a gap in the comprehensive understanding of their quasi‐static mechanical behavior, creep resistance, and fatigue performance. This paper addresses this gap by presenting recent advancements in studying these key properties of hybrid composites. Studies reveal that the combination of kenaf and glass fibers results in enhanced tensile, flexural, and impact strengths compared to individual fiber composites. Additionally, the hybridization offers improved creep resistance, with the glass fibers reinforcing the polymer matrix against deformation under sustained loads. Furthermore, investigations into fatigue properties demonstrate the resilience of hybrid composites to cyclic loading, contributing to prolonged service life in high‐stress environments. By elucidating the interplay between kenaf and glass fibers, this review underscores the potential of hybrid composites in various structural applications. The synergistic effects between natural and synthetic fibers offer a balance between sustainability, performance, and durability, making hybrid kenaf/glass fiber reinforced polymer composites a compelling choice for industries seeking lightweight, high‐performance materials in which aligns with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) especially on Goal 12. Polyamide 6 (PA6) thermoplastic‐based composites are often used in automobile, aerospace, marine, and biomedical applications. Here, PA6 and its composites with varied chopped glass fiber (GF) concentrations of 5, 10, and 20 mass% were fabricated by injection molding. The specimens were characterized by structural, thermal kinetic, mechanical, as well as tribological analyses. Tribological performance was evaluated in dry pin‐on‐disc test apparatus with three different levels of time, speed, and load factors. The PA6/GF composites showed high decomposition activation energy compared to pure PA6. Thermal activation, Ea increased to 46.16% with increasing of GF content up to 10 mass% in the composites compared to PA6. PA6/5GF exhibited best mechanical properties (e.g., strength = 44.46 MPa and Hardness = 45.2). Addition of GF in PA6 significantly improved tribological properties, coefficient of friction (COF) and specific wear rate (WR) besides thermal stability and mechanical properties of the composites. Especially, COF and WR of PA6/5GF composite decreased by 17%–65% and 68%–92%, respectively, compared to PA6. ANOVA statistical results determined the significant contribution of the tribological factors to the performance metrics of the composites for COF and WR. Highlights This study examines the mechanical properties of open‐hole unidirectional laminates by hybridizing jute and glass fabrics. Characterization involved microscopy, thickness variation, density measurements, tensile, and flexural tests. Numerical models were developed for each configuration, validated by experimental data, with a VUMAT subroutine implemented in ABAQUS/Explicit™ to simulate progressive damage using the 3D Hashin criteria. Results showed voids in the interphase regions of both jute‐based and hybrid laminates, indicating that jute fibers contribute to void formation. Thickness varied with the number of hybrid interfaces, with the glass laminate (G5) being thinnest, while jute and hybrid laminates (JGJGJ, JGGGJ and J5) were thicker. Density variation was influenced by the fiber types and their respective densities. Tensile tests revealed lower strength and modulus in jute laminates compared to glass. Open holes reduced tensile properties across laminates, except for G5. Numerical‐experimental tensile strength differences ranged from 0.5% to 6.1% (without hole) and 3.7% to 64.0% (with hole). Open‐hole laminates also showed reduced flexural strength but maintained a consistent flexural modulus. Numerical and experimental results for jute and hybrid laminates matched closely, with differences from 0.02% to 19.5%. Failure modes during tensile and flexural tests provided important insights into laminate behavior. Hybridization of jute and glass fibers led to void formation in interphase regions. Thickness variation in laminates influenced by the number of hybrid interfaces. Density variation primarily influenced by fiber types and their densities. Bi‐component jute laminates showed lower tensile properties compared to glass laminates. Open holes resulted in decreased tensile properties, except for G5‐H laminate. AbstractIn order to study the mechanical properties of seawater sea sand concrete and the durability damage law of seawater sea sand concrete under the action of seawater erosion, corresponding specimens were prepared and subjected to cube compressive strength, flexural strength, and dry-wet cycle tests by taking the volume dosage of glass fibers and polyvinyl alcohol fibers as variables. The test combined SEM scanning and EDS to analyze the microstructure of fiber-reinforced seawater sand concrete, and established a model based on the two-parameter Weibull probability distribution. The results show that the fiber has a significant effect on improving the mechanical properties and erosion resistance of seawater sand concrete. When the total volume content is 0.3% and the mixing ratio is 1:1, the improvement effect is the best. The maximum increase in cubic compressive strength was 24.2%; the maximum increase in flexural strength was 38.8%. After the specimens were subjected to wet and dry cycles for 360d, the maximum reduction in mass loss rate was 41.23%; the maximum reduction in strength loss rate was 27.55%. As observed from the microscopic images, the main disadvantage of SSC is that the salt crystallization and swelling matter produced by the erosion ions will weaken the bond between aggregate and mortar, resulting in defects in the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). Under the action of dry-wet cycles, the alternating dry-wet forces, the expansion pressure generated by expansive substances and the crystallization pressure generated by salt crystallization will change the microstructure, and therefore the damage of the specimen will deepen with the extension of erosion time. The microscopic images also show that the doping fibers can improve the internal integrity and compactness of the matrix, thus significantly improving the mechanical properties and durability of seawater sea sand concrete. In this test, a damage model was established based on the two-parameter Weibull distribution model, and the damage law between strength loss and dry-wet cycles was fitted, which provides a favorable basis to study the damage of seawater sea sand concrete under wet-dry cycling. Polymer matrix composites are extensively used in numerous industrial and engineering applications, and utilization of these materials has been extended to different and novel areas where it is essential to study and improve their mechanical properties. In this paper, the hand layup technique is used to prepare composites from a vinyl ester resin matrix filled with 4 wt.% chopped glass fiber and different silicon nitride particle contents with concentrations of 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, and 4 wt.% are used to study erosive wear, flexural, compression, and hardness tests. The air-jet-type test rig is used to measure erosive wear rate under four factors: weight fraction of both glass fiber and silicon nitride particles, impingement angles 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°, size sand particles 250, 450, 650, and 850 μm, and standoff distance 18, 20, 22, and 24 cm at constant 15 hours. MINITAB (L16) is utilized for erosive wear parameter analysis. It is observed that the specimens (vinyl ester–4% chopped glass fiber–4% silicon nitride) have better erosive resistance properties as compared to other specimens. Moreover, the addition of 4 wt.% silicon nitride particles in the vinyl ester resin filled with chopped glass fiber improved the values of flexural strength, compressive strength, and hardness shore D significantly. The signal-to-noise results showed that the 4% weight ratio of silicon nitride particles, 90° impingement angles, 250 μm sand size, and 22 cm standoff distance gave the best erosive resistance. The analysis of variance showed that specimens (A), size of sand particles (C), and standoff distance (D) are the most important factor affecting the erosive rate, while the angle (B) factor has less effect on the erosive rate. Also, the interaction plot for all control parameters showed an important effect on erosive wear. It is observed that the properties of vinyl ester resin have improved after being strengthened with chopped glass fibers and silicon nitride particles, which can proposed for specific applications such as sewage pipes, helicopter fan blades, and desert structures. Kevlar, Carbon and fiber glass are widely used in various kind of industries because of their superior properties like; great stiffness, high strength, wear resistance and low density those benefits contributed to increase their usage in different fields like electronics, automobile, aerospace and civil engineer. This study is carried out to improve the creep behavior of epoxy composite materials by incorporating two type of fiber for reinforcement using Hand-layup techniques. Sika epoxy resin is mixed once with Kevlar fibers, and once with Carbon fiber to produce a composite material. Experimental and numerical simulation are carried out to provide an extensive knowledge of the creep behavior of epoxy composite materials at various weight ratio. Visco-elastic materials creep strain and stress relaxation are analyzed utilizing Prony and Burger models. Based on the results, the addition of Carbon and Kevlar fibers to Sika epoxy composite increase its mechanical characteristics compare to pure epoxy. Carbon fiber possesses lowest creep strain and low stress level than Kevlar fibers. Sika epoxy composite containing 5% weight fraction of Carbon fiber has the highest resistance to creep, up to 80% more, compared with Sika epoxy; followed by Kevlar fiber which is up to 75% more, compared with Sika epoxy. The use of Carbon/Sika epoxy composite results in higher creep compliance and modulus of elasticity compared with Kevlar/Sika epoxy composite. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigated the influence of moisture absorption on the electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption performance and mechanical strength of a radar-absorbing structure (RAS) with nickel-coated pristine glass fibers and polyamide 6. To construct the RAS, nickel was deposited on pristine glass fibers via electroless plating, and the RAS was fabricated using a hot-press process. An environmental test was conducted under a high humidity of 85%, and the EM wave absorption capacity of the RAS was measured at 2-week intervals. Moreover, compressive and interlaminar shear tests were conducted to verify the degradation of mechanical strength and the effect of the nickel coating on moisture absorption resistance. The test results revealed that immersion in moisture degraded the EM absorption capacity of the RAS. To effectively manage turbine blade weight and blade deflection under severe weather conditions, longer and stiffer blades are required, fiber glass producers have devoted significant efforts to developing and commercializing high‐modulus (HM) glass fiber products of the first generation. The current focuses aim at the commercialization of the second generation and the development of the third‐generation products. This article briefly reviews four key areas: (a) the benefit of longer blades on wind energy generation, (b) characteristics of HM glass fibers of various generations, (c) fundamental science and understanding behind HM glass fiber development, and (d) finally statistically based composition (C)–property (P) and structure (S)–property (P) modeling approaches in new glass design. The paper deals with the influence of the brittleness of glass fibers on the selected performance properties of the fibrous polymer composite. Understanding the fatigue behavior of fiber-reinforced plastics is desirable for exploiting their features in safe, durable, and reliable industrial components. Based on the proposed methodology, it is possible to assess the impact of material reuse on selected mechanical and rheological properties. To verify the methodology by experimental analysis, homopolymer PP reinforced with chemically grafted glass fiber (30 wt%) was selected. The proposed methodology was subsequently verified by experimental analysis and evaluated statistically. The morphology of the fracture surfaces was evaluated, and the fiber-polymer matrix adhesion was monitored at the interface of the fracture surfaces. Based on the measured and evaluated values and fracture surfaces, we can say that the brittleness of the fibers significantly affects the performance properties of the tested polymer composite. Highlights In recent years, there has been a significant emphasis on the development of composite materials that are both high‐performing and environmentally friendly. Hybrid polymer composites that are reinforced by both sisal and glass fibers are introduced in this study. Investigation was conducted to evaluate the combined influence of hybrid reinforcements and Egg Shell Powder (ESP) on the mechanical properties of the composites. The hand layup technique was employed to create hybrid laminates by incorporating variable amounts of ESP (0–15 wt%) and employing various stacking sequences. Various mechanical testing was administered to the composites that had been prepared. The results indicated that the glass/sisal hybrid laminates exhibited superior mechanical properties in comparison to the non‐hybrid sisal laminates, which was attributed to the synergistic benefits of incorporating both sisal and glass fibers. The incorporation of Egg Shell Powder significantly improved the material's mechanical properties. The glass/sisal hybrid laminates with 15% ESP laminate demonstrated the maximum tensile strength (195.23 MPa), flexural strength (150.02 MPa), and ILSS (7.55 MPa). Scanning electron microscopy enabled a comprehensive analysis of the hybrid composites' interfacial adhesion and microstructure. This investigation verified that the ESP was effectively dispersed and had a substantial effect on the interface between the matrix and the fibers. The hybrid composites that are generated are environmentally friendly and exhibit extraordinary potential for a variety of applications, offering a sustainable and high‐performing alternative to conventional synthetic composites. This study fabricates multiscale glass fiber/epoxy composites by incorporating graphene nanoparticles (GNPs) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) to investigate the influences of NPs on the mechanical properties of composites. The composites are manufactured using the compression molding technique with different GNP contents (i.e., 0, 0.5, 1, and 1.5 wt.%), whereas the contents of glass fibers and ZnO NPs remained the same at 40 and 4 wt.%, respectively. Their mechanical properties, chemical compositions, and fracture morphologies are then evaluated. It is found that the mechanical properties of composites improve significantly at a lower content (i.e., 0.5 wt.%) of GNPs and tend to decrease at higher contents (i.e., 1 and 1.5 wt.%). The composite is composed of 0.5 wt.% GNPs exhibit maximum tensile modulus and strength of 6.74 GPa and 230.25 MPa, and flexural modulus and strength of 16.43 GPa and 831.79 MPa, respectively, impact strength of 47.25 kJ m−2, and maximum hardness (97.96 Shore D), among all nanocomposites. Moreover, fracture morphologies reveal that composite failure is predominately caused by fiber breakage, fiber‐matrix debonding, voids, and GNP agglomeration. The reliable anchorage and long‐term durability of high‐performance fiber reinforced polymer composites were the decisive factors for engineering applications owing to the anisotropy of materials and the complexity of service environment. In this paper, an innovative glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (GFRPP) self‐anchor plate cable was developed to utilize the high toughness/durability of thermoplastic resin and self‐anchor load‐bearing system. The effects of different reinforcement methods and cable arc angles (10°, 20°, and 30°) on mechanical properties of plate cable were investigated. Water absorption behavior and mechanical properties immersed in alkali solution were tested to evaluate its long‐term service behavior. The thermogravimetric and surface morphology analysis were conducted to reveal the performance evolution mechanism. The results showed through the combination of secondary melting, carbon fiber winding confinement and epoxy reinforcements, the splitting failure of transition zone and interlaminar cracking failure of straight zone for plate cable were effectively avoided. The tensile strength retention of plate cable for arc angles of 10°, 20° and 30° were 45.6%, 41.3%, and 34.0% of GFRPP plate, respectively. Larger arc angle increased the curvature of arc‐straight transition zone and stress concentration near the straight section, leading to interlaminar splitting failure of plate cable at weak transition zone. The tensile strength of plate cable with the immersion time deteriorated obviously until the lowest retention of 29.7%. The degradation mechanism was mainly due to the etching of glass fibers in alkali solution and the formation of pores and internal defects, including fiber/resin interface debonding and resin swelling. The research results were of significance for solving the anchoring problems and promoting the long‐term service reliability in bridge applications. Purpose: Additive manufacturing of polymer composites is a transformative technology that leverages the benefits of both composite material and 3D printing to produce highly customizable, lightweight and efficient composites for a wide range of applications. Design/methodology/approach: In this research work, glass fiber-reinforced polylactic acid (PLA) filament is used to print the specimen via fusion deposition modeling process. The process parameters such as infill densities (40%, 50% and 60%) and raster angle/orientations (0°, 45° and 90°) are varied, and the specimens for tensile, flexural, impact, hardness and wear testing are prepared as per their respective ASTM standards. Findings: The results revealed that with an increase in infill density, the mechanical properties of glass fiber-PLA specimens increase progressively. Optimal tensile properties and flexural properties are obtained at 0° and 90° raster angle orientations and 60% infill density. Minimum wear rate is achieved at 0° raster angle orientation and it increases at 45° and 90° raster angle orientations. Originality/value: Using SEM, the microscopic analysis of the fractured specimen was analyzed to study the interface between the fibers and matrix and it indicates the presence of good adhesion between the layers at 60% infill density and 0° print orientation. The effects of geometric scaling on the strain rate sensitivity of unidirectional and [+45/−45]s laminates under uniaxial tensile loading has been investigated experimentally. Two material systems, Toray T800/3900-2B carbon/epoxy unitape and Newport NB321/7781 fiberglass/epoxy fabric, were used in the study. The nominal strain rates investigated ranged from quasi-static (0.0002 s−1) to moderate strain rates of 50 s−1 across the scaled specimen geometries. The geometric scaling effects at different strain rates were quantified in terms of the Weibull modulus. At each strain rate, the average failure stress of [0]4 carbon, [0]4 fiberglass, and [±45]s fiberglass showed a declining trend with increasing specimen size. However, the percentage of the strength reduction was less significant at higher strain rates compared to the quasi-static strain rate. In contrast to the other stacking sequences, [+45/−45]s carbon specimens showed a maximum percentage in strength reduction at a high strain rate compared to the quasi-static strain rate, indicating increased scaling effect with strain rate. The magnitude of Weibull modulus (m) for the specimens increased with strain rate indicating diminishing scaling effects, while [+45/−45]s carbon specimens exhibited an opposite trend. This study was focused on developing and evaluating the impacts of wood and graphite fillers on an E-glass fibre-reinforced polyester composite. The fillers employed in this study include teak, casuarina, psuedon wood dust, graphite, and hybrid fillers such as casuarina and graphite fillers. They tested for tension, flexural, impact, hardness, and dynamic mechanical analysis. In the current work, the optimum loading level is 15 wt% which was determined through testing at various loading levels. The experimental results have shown that the mechanical, physical, and thermomechanical properties of glass fiber reinforced polyester composites improvement mechanism analysis depend upon chemically treated wood dust fillers by avoiding surface delamination during fabrication. By using the hand layup method, composites were created by maintaining the fibre constant while distributing the fillers following the rule of mixture; a hybrid composite has a filler distribution of 1:1. Hybrid composite has exhibited increased flexural strength and hardness by 72.77%, 63.33% compared to casuarina wood of 15 wt% by avoiding incompatibility of casuarina wood filler with the resin. The glass transition value of the hybrid composite was increased by 1.4% compared to the above said casuarina wood composite, making it a more thermally resistant material. Resin bond grinding wheels are the most common grinding tools in the industry. Until now, all research on the additive manufacturing of resin bond grinding wheels has focused on commercially available acrylate resin. However, using a phenol-based bond to print resin-bond grinding wheels has been challenging for researchers and industries. In this study, a photo-curable phenol resin bond grinding wheel was introduced for the first time, offering advantages such as lower cost, high thermal resistance, and good mechanical properties. To enhance the grinding performance of the printed wheels, various additives, such as copper, glass fiber, and carbon fiber, were incorporated into the composition. Different on-machine and out-of-machine measurements, such as force, tool wear, dimensional accuracy, and optical microscopy measurements, were conducted to investigate the grinding performance of the printed wheels. The results demonstrate that printed grinding wheels have strong potential in grinding applications, which was more prominent for the bond reinforced by glass fibers, providing improved mechanical properties (up to 50%), wear resistance (up to 75%), and higher dimensional accuracy (up to 11%). Three‐dimensional (3D) printing, or additive manufacturing (AM), is rapidly advancing, allowing for the creation of objects from a digital model through the successive addition of materials. Among the AM techniques, fused deposition modeling (FDM) emerges as one of the most promising and extensively utilized methods. However, the inherent mechanical shortcomings of the deposition of pure thermoplastic materials necessitate the improvement of mechanical properties. One viable approach involves integrating reinforcing fibers into the thermoplastic matrix to create polymer composites suitable for structural applications. In this study, the mechanical properties of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) reinforced with short glass fibers (SGFs) printed by FDM were investigated. Highlights Additive manufacturing has enhanced the production of complex parts with greater efficiency. However, inherent drawbacks such as reduced mechanical properties still pose challenges, necessitating further improvements to bridge the gap and meet industry demands. Therefore, this study investigated the use of glass fiber woven fabric with vat‐photopolymerization printing to achieve composite parts with superior mechanical properties. This approach offered an advantage in reducing the production time required for fiber‐reinforced composites by eliminating the need for curing processes or vacuum infusion. The mechanical properties of the composite panels manufactured with this method were investigated using flexural, interlaminar shear (ILSS), impact tests with different fiber orientations, and fiber volume fractions. The results of the mechanical tests showed maximum flexural strength of 295 MPa, impact strength of 174 kJ/m2, and ILSS of 20.58 MPa. In addition, optical images were taken to examine the cross‐section of the printed parts, which revealed a uniform and good wetting of the fibers. The findings suggest that glass fiber woven fabric in vat printing is a promising approach for producing composite parts with enhanced mechanical properties and reduced production rate. Highlights Interfacial adhesion properties are a key factor affecting the mechanical properties of composites. It is a very effective way to improve the low‐velocity impact resistance of composites by improving the interfacial adhesion properties. To improve the fiber/matrix interfacial adhesion properties of GF/PA6 (glass‐fiber/polyamide 6) composites, polyethyleneimine (PEI) and γ‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550) were used to co‐modify GF together in this study. The GF/PA6 composites with different modifications of glass‐fiber (GF) were also prepared using a hot pressing process, and then their flexural strength, shear strength, pendulum impact strength, and low‐speed impact resistance were investigated. Next, the relationship between fiber/matrix interfacial adhesion and mechanical properties of GF/PA6 composites was investigated by combining x‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and x‐ray computed tomography test results. The results showed that the GF‐reinforced PA6 matrix composite with co‐modified GF by PEI and KH550 (PEI‐KH550‐GF/PA6) had the best mechanical properties, with flexural, shear, and pendulum impact strengths of 660.7 MPa, 53.1 MPa, and 261.6 kJ/m2, respectively. Furthermore, the low‐velocity impact resistance was measured in terms of stress peak, absorbed energy, residual stress, and damage extension, and the results showed that the low‐speed impact resistance of PEI‐KH550‐GF/PA6 composites was also substantially improved that the Fmax increased from 7402.1 to 10414.0 N. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of combining natural and synthetic fibers on the mechanical characteristics of hybrid and novel functionally graded hybrid composites by considering hemp as natural fiber and carbon and glass as synthetic fibers. Before manufacturing, the natural fibers were treated with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution to remove the impurities on the fiber surface. The fibers were reinforced in an epoxy‐based matrix using a hand‐layup technique. The volumetric fraction of the hybrid composites was 40% fibers and 60% matrix. Different types of composites, such as plain fiber reinforced polymer (FRP), sandwich hybrid (SH), alternative hybrid (AH), and functionally graded hybrid (FH), were manufactured from hybridizations of hemp/carbon and hemp/glass. In accordance with ASTM standards, the tensile, compression, flexural, short beam shear, water absorption, and wettability properties of composites were determined. FH composites with hemp fiber at the top surface had the highest improvement in tensile strength, stiffness and compressive strength compared with pure hemp FRP (HFRP) composites. Hemp SH composites had the highest improvement in flexural and short beam properties in both hybridizations compared with HFRP composites due to the stacking of synthetic fiber at the outer layers. Scanning electronic microscopic (SEM) studies identified the failure mechanism of the tensile failure specimens and also the effect of mercerization on fiber surfaces. In conclusion, this work identified the structural capacity of hybrid composites and emphasizes that FH and hemp SH composites can replace glass FRP composites in structural applications. Highlights Highly transparent and mechanically robust thermoplastic composites have been developed by hot‐pressing PETG with E‐glass fabrics. The tow‐spreading technique facilitates the reduction of internal defects and fiber crimp angle in the composites, thereby significantly improving their optical and mechanical properties. The optimized composite containing 55.1 vol% glass fibers and 0.4 mm thickness has a high transmittance of 86.1%@616 nm and a low overall haze of 7.2%. Moreover, the 1 mm thick composites exhibit tensile strength of up to 340 MPa and impact strength of up to 86.3 kJ/m2. After 28 days of hygrothermal or UV aging, the composites show minimal changes in their glass transition temperature and thermal degradation temperature. The chemical structure also remains unchanged, with no observed crystallization. In comparison to UV aging, the composites demonstrate better resistance against hygrothermal aging. Specifically, the hygrothermal aged sample displayed a light transmittance retention rate of 93.5% and a bending strength retention rate of 94.3%, while these values were reduced to 73.3% and 90.5%, respectively, in the UV aged sample. The opto‐mechanical properties enhanced mechanism and aging degradation mechanism have been identified by microscopic morphological observation. This work provides an innovative and straightforward approach to fabricate transparent, recyclable, high‐strength thermoplastic composites. In this study, two types of composites, polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and epoxy resin (ER), reinforced with 20% of glass fiber (GF) are used as the comparative research objects. Their mechanical properties after thermal aging at 85~145 °C are evaluated by tensile strength and fracture morphology analysis. The results show that the composites have similar aging laws. The tensile strength of GF/PBT and GF/ER decrease gradually with the increase of aging temperature, while their elastic moduli are independent of the thermal treatment temperature. Scanning electron microscopy study of the fracture surface shows that separation of glass fiber from PBT and ER matrix becomes more obvious at higher aging temperature. The fibers on the matrix surface appear clear and smooth, and the whole pulled out GFs can be observed. As a main mechanical strength degradation mechanism, the deterioration of interface adhesion between the matrix and GF is discussed. In the present work, short glass fiber is superficially modified with different concentrations of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (Trisilanol–Isobutyl, TSI-POSS) for processing as a filler in a polypropylene matrix (PP). It is observed that increasing the amount of TSI-POSS increases the fracture point and tensile strength; the opposite is the case for the strength impact property. The behaviors of both dynamic mechanical and thermal analyses are also observed. The flame behavior, i.e., the burning rate, decreases with increasing TSI-POSS in the polymers. The use of fiber-reinforced metal laminates (FML) is increasing due to their special mechanical properties. Their properties depend on the type and thickness of the metal and reinforcing fibers. In this study, the mechanical properties of FML sheets with a 2 mm thickness stainless steel 420 intermediate layer reinforced with six layers of Woven and Mat glass fibers were investigated. The fibers were impregnated with a polyester resin and produced as three layers on the front and back of the steel sheet with different fiber angles (0°, 15°, 30°, and 45°). Finally, samples with 8 mm thickness were cut by water jet. Mechanical properties including static tensile and bending tests were performed, and after that a low-cycle dynamic tensile and bending test was also performed according to the obtained maximum static tensile and bending force for each sample. The obtained results varied depending on the fibers' angle, but in all tests, the highest strength was obtained for samples with fibers arranged at 0°. A charpy impact and high speed pressure test were performed to determine toughness and confirm the strength and adhesion between the samples' layers. The sandwich panels are widely used in many industrial applications due to their high mechanical properties. Their core design is most important parameter in enhancing their mechanical strength. Flexibility in the design of the core structure leads to the achievement of high strength and light structures. In this paper, the results of the optimized geometry in the previous work are used to investigate the capability of the core geometry design with different materials. Therefore, using the different materials, the peak enhancement of strength-to-weight ratio in sandwich panels besides core behavior during pressure testing are investigated. To this end, a new lattice core is brought forth as the first level; then, three types of materials including AL3105, glass, and innegra fiber/epoxy composites are used to fabricate the cores, in order to compare the compressive strength and the peak. The Nano-clay cloisite 20A is also utilized in construction of sandwich panels. The result indicates that the AL3105 lattice core has the highest strength-to-weight ratio, while the innegra fiber composite core has the highest toughness. Applying curve studies and the SEM Fig. 13, it is concluded that the addition of Nano-clay to composites leads to an increase in both of the strain and the core strength. Comparing the results of experimental and finite element modeling (FEM) data (in ABAQUS software) represented that there is a suitable compliance between them. Our results with the positional variation in core design can pave way in designing advanced engineered sandwich structures in aerospace, shipping, automotive industries. The present experimental study assesses the mechanical properties of glass/carbon/glass hybrid composite laminates after being exposed to moisture in a deep freezer and elevated temperatures for extended periods. The top and bottom layers of the hybrid laminates are reinforced with glass fibre, and the middle layer is reinforced with carbon fibre using the epoxy matrix as a binder polymer material. The hybrid laminates were manufactured using the resin transfer moulding method, and their compressive and tensile properties were determined using a tensile testing machine. The storage modulus, loss modulus, and damping factors of all groups of laminates were identified using a dynamic mechanical analysis as a function of temperature and vibration frequency. The experimental results on compressive and tensile properties revealed slight variations when the hybrid laminates were kept at low temperatures in a deep freezer for extended periods. This might occur due to the increasing molecular crosslinking of the polymer network. As the testing temperature increased, compressive, tensile, storage modules, loss modulus, and damping factors decreased. This might occur due to the increasing mobility of the binder material. Particularly, the highest stiffness parameters were obtained at −80 °C/GCG (glass/carbon/glass) laminates due to the presence of a beta transition in the glassy region. The relationships between the glass transitions and the targeted frequencies were characterized. The values of the glass transition shift towards higher temperatures as the frequency increases. This might occur due to a reduction in the gaps between the crosslinking of the epoxy network when the frequency increases. The accuracy of the storage modulus results was compared with the empirical models. The model based on the Arrhenius law provided the closest correlation. Hybridizing the natural fibers with stronger synthetic fibers could significantly improve the properties of the natural fiber-reinforced composites. The improved mechanical capabilities of fiber reinforced polymers result from the fiber's capacity for withstanding a more substantial portion of the mechanical load compared to the matrix it replaces. In order to guarantee the efficient transfer of the mechanical load from the matrix to the reinforcement, it is necessary to incorporate a fibrous filler. Transference takes place when the length of the fiber is longer than a specific critical length. Fibers which are shorter than the critical length will pull out from the matrix when tested to a tensile load. In some cases, complete transfer of the load is not performed. The goal of this study is to learn more about flax (FF), glass (GF), and mixtures of flax and glass (FF + GF) short fiber-reinforced PLA-PBS composites. This is performed to find out how the flax/glass combination affects the mechanical properties of PLA-PBS-reinforced short fiber composites. In order to extend their use for industrial applications, these composites were manufactured via extrusion and, afterward, injection molding. Fiber aspect ratios were followed after compounding and injection processing. The analysis of fiber lengths reveals a noteworthy observation: the proportion of fibers exceeding their critical length of 531 µm and 772 µm for FF and GF, respectively, is more significant when flax fibers (FF) and glass fibers (GF) are combined compared to when they reinforce the composite individually. Specifically, the composite containing both FF and GF exhibits a higher percentage of fibers surpassing their critical length, compared to their individual reinforcement in the composite. The results reveal that 27% of individually extracted single FF exceed their critical length, whereas a higher proportion, at 34%, is observed when FF is part of the composite mixture. In contrast, the critical length is surpassed by only 4% of individually extracted single GF, whereas the combined presence of GF in the composite results in a notably higher percentage, at 19%. The tensile properties of these composites were investigated considering the effect of the hybridization by flax/glass short fibers. It was noted that the tensile properties of the hybrid composites increase comparing to the flax composites from 42.4 MPa to 53 MPa for the tensile strength and from 4.9 GPa to 5.4 GPa for the tensile modulus. In contrast, the elongation at break of the hybrid composites decreases from 1.7% to 1.5% with the incorporation of glass fibers. The experimental results were compared with the predictions of the mixture law and the Cox-Krenchel model. This study focuses on understanding of thermal and mechanical characteristics of Hybrid Composites & their utilization in high-performance Sectors like Aerospace, Automobiles, Shipbuilding & Renewable Systems. Many researchers are interested in using natural fibres to treat due to recent advancements in polymer characteristics. The mechanical properties of three types of bars are studied in this paper: Cotton Fibre-Reinforced Polymer bars, Cotton/Carbon Fibre-Reinforced Polymer bars, and Cotton/Glass Fibre-Reinforced Polymer bars. The goal of the paper was to create low-cost bars with comparable mechanical performance and corrosion resistance to steel reinforcement. The bars were made using two methods: fibres immersed in polymer and fibres coated with polymer by repeated tension and relaxation of fibres. The second method produced better results in terms of the tensile strength of Cot.CFRP, Cot.GFRP, and Cot.FRP bars, which were 688, 477, and 284 MPa, respectively, and the stress–strain curve revealed brittle behaviour for all bars and modulus of elasticity of 43, 31 and 22 GPa. When sand was put on the bar's surface, the bars demonstrated a good connection with the concrete. This study aimed to evaluate the mechanical characteristics and application of e-waste as a filler for glass fiber composites made of S and E (e-waste + S E). Metal, printed circuit boards, integrated circuits, diodes, and transistors were separated from the e-waste filler during milling. S and E glass fiber, epoxy, and filler were utilized in proportions of 10%, 10%, and 70%, respectively, on a volume basis. The hand lay-up technique was used to construct composite specimens. Scanning electron microscope analysis was used to gauge how filler loading affected the morphology of composite materials. The composite has a compressive strength of 23.760 MPa, which is 69.71% higher than the Geo poly composite. The tensile strength of this composite is withstood up to 16.078 MPa. It has 53% better tensile properties than Sunflower Husk composites with the same operating conditions. It gives a resistance up to 42 D during hardness test to withstand. It was 15.6% better than the NF30% epoxy composite specimen. To expand the applications of hybrid fiber composites in structural engineering applications, it is essential to study their fatigue behavior. The tensile and fatigue performance of unidirectional hybrid basalt/glass epoxy composites made with vacuum‐assisted resin infusion molding are investigated in this research. The sequencing influence on tensile properties was assessed using the two configurations of basalt/glass fiber epoxy hybrid fiber composites, namely GBBBG and BGBGB, having nearly equal volume fractions. According to the test results, hybrid fiber composites showed a positive hybrid effect on their tensile strength. Both hybrid layups showed higher tensile strengths (3.5% to 10.5%) than GFRPs and BFRPs. The GBBBG laminate has slightly higher fatigue resistance than BGBGB laminate under tension–tension (T–T) fatigue. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images verify the fatigue failure modes, which include fiber, matrix cracking, delamination, and debonding. The DMA analysis showed the lower adhesion efficiency of hybrid fiber composites, signifying lower damping properties. Composite materials are widely used in diverse areas of applications due to their high level of performance. They can be selected and engineered to provide a specific property. Many researches have been focused on studying bending and tensile characteristics of the composite reinforced by using fiber glass. This paper presents the fabrication process and evaluation study of both mechanical and physical properties characterization of fibre glass reinforcement epoxy resin. Unsaturated epoxy resin was reinforced using variable chopped E-glass fiber with loading of 0%, 5%, 15%, 40 wt% respectively to achieve this purpose. The specimens of the reinforced epoxy were prepared and investigated experimentally to access and evaluate their properties such as tensile strength, hardness and water absorption tests respectively. The test results showed that the specimen with added 40 wt% short fiber glass has highest values of ultimate tensile strength, Young modulus, hardness and the coefficient of the thermal conductivity compared with the other specimens but it has the demerit of higher water absorption percentage. Also, it was found that the specimen with 15 wt% has the lowest water absorption percentage. Hybrid composites combining carbon and glass fibers are increasingly studied for their potential to enhance mechanical properties and cost efficiency. Understanding how different hybrid structures influence these properties is critical for optimizing material design and application. In this paper, the mechanical properties of carbon/glass (C/G) interlayer and intralayer hybrid composites, including tensile, compressive, and flexural properties, were tested, and the cost performances of hybrid composites were analyzed to assess the economic feasibility of different stacking configurations. It was revealed that the specific tensile, compressive, and flexural modulus/cost and strength/cost ratios of interlayer and intralayer hybrid composites decreased with increasing carbon fiber content, indicating that adding carbon fiber reduced cost performance. With the combined hybrid ratio and the interlayer structure with glass fiber sandwiching carbon fiber, the tensile and compressive properties were the most cost-effective. When the dispersion degree of the intralayer hybrid structure was 0, the tensile and compressive properties were the most cost-effective. Specifically, for intralayer hybrid composites with a dispersion degree of 0 and C:G = 1:4, the specific tensile strength/cost ratio was 6.7 × 104 N·m/USD, and the specific compressive modulus and strength/cost ratio was 3.8 × 106 N·m/USD and 4.7 × 103 N·m/USD, respectively. However, the flexural performance/cost ratio was found to be opposite to the tensile and compressive results. When carbon fiber was distributed in the bottom layer or used to sandwich the glass fiber, the flexural performance/cost ratio of interlayer hybrid composites was nearly as good as that of glass fiber. Moreover, by considering the working condition of composites, the cost performance of mechanical properties can be optimized and improved through careful design of hybrid ratios and stacking structures. Modern research is focused on the discovery of new compounds that meet the requirements of modern construction. An example of low energy consumption is that buildings consume between 20% and 40% of energy. In this research, the effect of fiber addition on the properties of compacted earth bricks composed of clay and sand and fixed with cement is studied. Fiberglass or palm are used in different proportions (0% and 0.4%). This is done by studying the change in mechanical and thermal properties. The study focuses on clarifying the role of fiber type and the amount of compressive force applied to the soil. To change the properties of bricks. This is studied using experimental methods and systematization criteria. The results showed a decrease in density by 9.1%, with a decrease in water absorption by 8%, an increase in brick hardness by 42.7%, and a decrease in thermal conductivity by 22.2%. These results show that the addition of fiber improves mechanical and thermal properties. Which reduces energy consumption. The results are important because they explain the changes that occur in the earth block when palm fibers and glass are added and how they are used to improve earthen buildings.

The utilization of hollow glass particle‐filled fiber‐reinforced composites in marine applications necessitates a proper understanding of their behavior when exposed to moisture environments. In this study, the glass fiber‐reinforced composites reinforced with 0%–30% volume fraction of glass microspheres were fabricated and immersed in seawater and distilled water conditions for monotonic tensile and flexural testing. The degradation mechanisms were analyzed by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moisture absorption results showed an increasing trend with the inclusion of glass microspheres. A decline in glass transition temperature and storage modulus was observed as a result of moisture absorption. The tensile results of the specimens exhibited a decrease of 13% and 9% in distilled water and seawater solution, respectively when compared with unaged samples, respectively. The flexural results of the aged composite specimens demonstrated a reduction of 24% and 11% in distilled water and seawater solution, respectively when compared with unaged samples. The findings also show that the influence of moisture on the modulus is less pronounced compared to its effect on strength under both environmental conditions. The micrograph results revealed a notable deterioration of the glass microsphere and the fiber/matrix interface in the moist environment. This research investigates the influence of kevlar and glass fiber reinforcements on the mechanical and thermal properties of epoxy/vinyl ester (hybrid resin) composite. The hybrid resin was synthesized by achieving an interpenetrating network between epoxy and vinyl ester. The composites were characterized using tensile, flexural, impact, and thermo‐gravimetric analysis (TGA). Scanning electron microscopy was employed to analyze surface morphology whereas Fourier‐Transformation Infrared Spectroscopy (FT‐IR) was used to investigate the possible interaction between the constituents of the composites. The findings have shown a notable improvement in the mechanical properties after the hybridization of the resin. For reference, the tensile strength of glass/hybrid resin and kevlar/hybrid resin composites were observed to increase by 8.33% and 23.65%, as compared to glass/epoxy and kevlar epoxy composites respectively, whereas, the bending strength of these composites was improved by 8.36% and 30.61%, respectively. TGA also showed an enhanced thermal stability of the hybrid resin‐based composites. Such improvements are noticed due to multi‐resin incorporation (the oxirane group of epoxy reacts with the hydroxyl group of vinyl ester), confirmed by the FTIR, TGA, and morphological analysis. This study signifies that the proposed hybrid composites are better in terms of strength and modulus relative to conventional metallic materials. This study aims to synthesize TiC + TiB2 reinforced epoxy/glass fiber composites to enhance mechanical properties and resistance to wear and erosion. For this purpose, TiC + TiB2 particles were added to the epoxy matrix in contents of 0, 2.5, 5, 12.5, and 20 wt.%, and the composites were then created through the hand-layout technique. The mechanical, wear, and erosion properties were eventually analyzed. The wear mechanisms of samples were evaluated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. The findings indicated that adding 2.5 wt. % of particles maximized the modulus, increasing the tensile and flexural modulus rates by 26 and 17%, respectively. The hardness also improved when TiC + TiB2 particles were added. In fact, it reached the maximum level (58%) once 12.5 wt.% of particles were added. The wear resistance of the composites increased with the TiC + TiB2 content where adding 20 wt.% of the particles enhanced the abrasion resistance by 86% while lowering the friction coefficient. The erosion resistance was analyzed with a rotating device in an abrasive slurry under different variables such as rotation speed, impact angle, and sand rate. In recent years, the growing environmental awareness has prompted increased attention towards the substitution of nonrecyclable thermosetting epoxy resin composite materials with recyclable thermoplastic composite materials. The objective of this study is to utilize a laboratory‐made polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)/methyl methacrylate (MMA) binary liquid resin (PMBLR) to prepare thermoplastic resin/glass fiber (GF) composite materials using the vacuum‐assisted perfusion method. These composites are then compared with GF‐reinforced thermosetting epoxy resin composites. The investigation reveals a significant influence of benzoyl peroxide (BPO) content on the mechanical properties of pure MMA and PMBLR casting resins, which also incorporate N‐methyl‐N‐((1‐methyl‐1H‐indol‐3‐yl) methyl) aniline (DMA) as redox composite initiators. The optimal mechanical properties for both types of casting resins are achieved at a DMA:BPO:MMA ratio of 0.5:1.2:100. Additionally, at a PMMA concentration of 24 wt% in PMBLR under this specific initiator ratio, the composites demonstrate the most desirable properties. Furthermore, a comparative analysis of PMBLR/GF composites and epoxy/GF composites indicates that the former exhibit superior 90° tensile strength, bending strength, and short beam shear strength. The fracture morphology analysis highlights discernible micro‐ductile fracture characteristics in PMBLR/GF composites, distinguishing them from epoxy/GF composites. Dynamic thermomechanical analysis (DMA) results further reveal a higher storage modulus and loss factor in PMBLR/GF composites when compared to epoxy/GF composites. The present research presents an examination of the consequential effects brought about by the introduction of short-cut E-glass fibers (GF) on the properties of high-dielectric constant, high-thermal conductivity microwave composite systems (x GF/(8- x)BNNS/78 wt%ST/polyolefin, x = 0-8 wt%, BNNS: hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets). The GF is modified using KH550, with the success of the surface modification definitively confirmed by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). All components are found to exhibit consistently ultra-high and stable dielectric constants within the 8–12 GHz frequency range (D k = 17.7–18.08). Based on thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) results, the incorporation of modified GF improve the thermal stability of the composite materials, enhancing thermal decomposition temperature, residual carbon content and glass transition temperature. Furthermore, replacing BNNS with GF significantly amplifies the mechanical properties of the composite substrate. This substitution leads to a notable reduction in the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) in all directions while simultaneously increasing the bending and tensile strength. At the same time, the composites can maintain reasonably high thermal conductivity values. Overall, with a GF concentration of 4 wt%, the composite showcases an appreciable increase in dielectric constants (17.81), a high thermal conductivity (1.3 W/m·K) and enhances mechanical properties (cross-plane CTE: 15.44 μm/(m·°C), in-plane CTE: 26.06 μm/(m·°C), bending strength: 65.6 MPa, tensile strength: 17.42 MPa). Background and purpose: This study was conducted with the aim of investigating parallel strand lumber (PSL) made from reed residue and laminated veneer lumber (LVL) obtained from poplar wood reinforced with glass fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) using epoxy resin. Materials and methods: The independent variable was FRP reinforcement for either LVL or PSL and control sample either LVL or LSL without FRP. The mechanical properties of the manufactured boards including bending strength (MOR) and modulus of elasticity (MOE) in the width and edge of the test sample, shear strength, compression strength parallel to the grain, internal bonding and screw withdrawal strengths were investigated as dependent variables. The obtained results were analyzed using completely randomized design and SPSS software. Results: Results showed that for all studied mechanical properties, the use of FRP increased the strength the PSL and LVL panels. For LVL, the effect of strengthening the samples with FRP was significant at the level of 1% and also for the modulus of rupture of the width and edge samples showed an increase of 93% and 59%, respectively. The value of MOE for samples reinforced with FRP showed an increase of 89.6 and 132% for the width and length of the PSL samples, respectively. For LVL, the MOE value of the width and edge of the samples increased by 54 and 95.5% with reinforcement. Reinforced PSL samples have improved shear strength by 31%, while this value was only 2.5% for LVL. In case of internal bonding, reinforcement with FRP improved the internal bonding strength of the samples by 92%. Screw withdrawal strengths improved by 27% due to the strengthening of the test samples by FRP. Conclusion: According to the results, it can be stated that the use of glass fibers and epoxy resin has a significant positive effect on the mechanical strength of PSL made of reed and LVL and it is possible to use low quality raw materials such as reed and low quality poplar wood layers. A cost-effective solution to the problems that the automotive industry is facing nowadays regarding regulations on emissions and fuel efficiency is to achieve weight reduction of automobile parts. Glass fiber-reinforced polymers are regularly used to manufacture various components, and some parts may also contain thermoplastic elastomers for toughness improvement. This work aimed to investigate the effect of styrene-(ethylene-co-butylene)-styrene triblock copolymer (E) and treated fly ash (C) on the morphological, thermal, and mechanical properties of long glass fiber (G)-reinforced polypropylene (PP). Results showed that the composites obtained through melt processing methods presented similar thermal stability and improved (nano)mechanical properties compared to 25–30 wt.% G-reinforced PP composites (PP-25G/PP-30G). Specifically, the impact strength and surface hardness were greatly improved. The addition of 20 wt.% E led to a 25–39% increase in impact strength and surface elasticity, while the addition of 6.5 wt.% C led to a 16% increase in surface hardness. The composite based on 25 wt.% G, 6.5 wt.% C, and 20 wt.% E presented the best-balanced properties (8–17% increase in impact strength, 38–41% increase in axial strain, and 35% increase in surface hardness) compared with PP-30G/PP-25G. Structural and morphological analysis confirmed the presence of a strong interaction between the components that make the composites. The rapid growth of Natural Fiber Laminate (NFL) innovation is a direct response to environmental challenges, positioning these materials as superior alternatives to synthetic fiber composites. This paper delved into the outcomes of an extensive experimental study investigating the influence of sisal fiber (SLF), banana fiber (BF), and glass fiber (GF) on the mechanical and microstructural characteristics of concrete. The water absorption curves were established for sisal fiber concrete (SLFC), banana fiber concrete (BFC), and glass fiber concrete (GFC). Furthermore, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) observations were conducted to perform microanalysis and failure analysis of the tested specimens. The results revealed significant improvements in the concrete containing fibers compared to its counterpart in fiber-free concrete. For mixtures with a water-to-binder (W/B) ratio of 0.3, the most optimal mix (GF-30-135) showed improvements in compressive strength, flexural strength, and splitting tensile strengths by 4.13%, 8.93%, and 10.10%, respectively. On the other hand, for W/B of 0.4, mix GF-30-135 showed improvements of 5.05%, 8.55%, and 11.60%, respectively. Furthermore, as the fiber content increased, microscopic analyses revealed a weakening of the bond between the fibers and the rest of the matrix, contributing to the deterioration of the mechanical properties. This study investigates the effects of filler content and type on the mechanical (tensile strength and impact resistance) and tribological properties of woven glass fiber‐reinforced composites (WGFC) produced using three different nanofillers (MgO, CuO, and Al2O3) at various loading levels (0.7, 1.4, and 2.8 wt%). Additionally, analyses of the artificial neural network algorithm were reported for the predictions of wear rate, mass loss, and coefficient of friction (COF) by given applied load, sliding distance, filler ratio, and filler type. The composites were fabricated using the hand lay‐up method. The filled composites were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and the worn surfaces of the samples after the wear test were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The wear resistance of the composite samples improved at 0.7 wt% CuO and 1.4 wt% MgO filler contents. At 200 m sliding distance and 1.4 wt% filler ratio, the highest wear ratio was determined as 55 mm3/m × 10−3 in the Al2O3‐filled composite, and the lowest was determined as 31 mm3/m × 10−3 in the MgO‐filled composite. At 1.4% filler ratio and 15 N load, the lowest friction coefficient was determined as 0.45 μ in MgO‐filled composite, and the highest was 0.56 μ in Al2O3‐filled composite. Al2O3 filler increased the mass loss and wear rate of the composite material. In Charpy impact tests, the maximum impact energy of 13.9 J/m2 was obtained with a 2.8 wt% Al2O3 filler content. Tensile tests showed an increase in tensile strength for all filler contents compared to unfilled composites. The highest tensile strength of 242.1 MPa was achieved with 0.7 wt% CuO reinforcement. Highlights: In all applied wear parameters and filler ratios, the Al2O3 filler adversely affected the wear resistance of the composite, while the MgO filler showed the best performance in terms of wear resistance.All types and ratios of fillers increased the tensile strength compared to the unfilled composite.Contrary to its negative effect on wear, the Al2O3‐filled composites exhibited the highest impact resistance.The prediction analysis of the tribological behavior of composite material using ANN reveals that the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm fits very well. An evaluation of the interlaminar fracture toughness of polyamide/glass fiber laminates with various layups is reported. Due to large differences in thermal expansion coefficients of fiber and binder the laminates with layups where single layers are swapped exhibit high warping. A technique for avoiding this is proposed, allowing evaluating interlaminar fracture toughness of various angle interfaces. Two different layups for evaluating the Mode I and II interlaminar fracture toughness are tested. The differences of delamination behavior of a number of different-angle fiber interfaces are shown and analyzed. The applicability of the proposed testing technique is discussed.
