In this paper, the modelling and control of a DC motor using MATLAB software (Simulink and SISO Design Tool) is carried on. The Simulink environment is used for modeling the motor and SISO Design Tool is used for controlling the motor by automate tuning of the controllers. The tuned controllers are PI (Proportional-Integral), PD (Proportional-Derivative) and PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative). The controllers need to be tuned for improving the performance of a system and designing the controller requires system mathematical modeling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
