In this work, we study the thermodynamic properties on a non--commutative background via gravitational gauge field potentials. This procedure is accomplished after contracting de Sitter (dS) group, $\mathrm{SO}(4,1)$, with the Poincar\`e group, $\mathrm{ISO}(3,1)$. Particularly, we focus on a static spherically symmetric black hole. In this manner, we calculate the modified Hawking temperature and the other deformed thermal state quantities, namely, entropy, heat capacity, Helmholtz free energy and pressure. We develop a general approach to study three-dimensional Schroedinger operators with confining potentials depending on the distance to a surface. The main idea is to apply parallel coordinates based on the surface but outside its cut locus in the Euclidean space. If the surface is asymptotically planar in a suitable sense, we give an estimate on the location of the essential spectrum of the Schroedinger operator. Moreover, if the surface coincides up to a compact subset with a surface of revolution with strictly positive total Gauss curvature, it is shown that the Schroedinger operator possesses an infinite number of discrete eigenvalues., Comment: proof of Theorem 2 corrected, figures and a conjecture added; to appear in Publ. We consider a general second order linear elliptic equation in a finely perforated domain. The shapes of cavities and their distribution in the domain are arbitrary and non-periodic; they are supposed to satisfy minimal natural geometric conditions. On the boundaries of the cavities we impose either the Dirichlet or a nonlinear Robin condition; the choice of the type of the boundary condition for each cavity is arbitrary. Then we suppose that for some cavities the nonlinear Robin condition is sign-definite in certain sense. Provided such cavities and ones with the Dirichlet condition are distributed rather densely in the domain and the characteristic sizes of the cavities and the minimal distances between the cavities satisfy certain simple condition, we show that a solution to our problem tends to zero as the perforation becomes finer. Our main result are order sharp estimates for the $L_2$- and $W_2^1$-norms of the solution uniform in the $L_2$-norm of the right hand side in the equation.

We consider two-dimensional Schroedinger operators with an attractive potential in the form of a channel of a fixed profile built along an unbounded curve composed of a circular arc and two straight semi-lines. Using a test-function argument with help of parallel coordinates outside the cut-locus of the curve, we establish the existence of discrete eigenvalues. This is a special variant of a recent result of Exner in a non-smooth case and via a different technique which does not require non-positive constraining potentials., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures

We study various mathematical aspects of discrete models on graphs, specifically the Dimer and the Ising models. We focus on proving gluing formulas for individual summands of the partition function. We also obtain partial results regarding conjectured limits realized by fermions in rational conformal field theories.

We define the Jacobian of a Riemann surface with analytically parametrized boundary components. These Jacobians belong to a moduli space of ``open abelian varieties'' which satisfies gluing axioms similar to those of Riemann surfaces, and therefore allows a notion of ``conformal field theory'' to be defined on this space. We further prove that chiral conformal field theories corresponding to even lattices factor through this moduli space of open abelian varieties., Comment: 27 pages. The spectrum of the Laplace operator in a curved strip of constant width built along an infinite plane curve, subject to three different types of boundary conditions (Dirichlet, Neumann and a combination of these ones, respectively), is investigated. We prove that the essential spectrum as a set is stable under any curvature of the reference curve which vanishes at infinity and find various sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of geometrically induced discrete spectrum. Furthermore, we derive a lower bound on the distance between the essential spectrum and the spectral threshold for locally curved strips. We investigate the discrete spectrum of the Hamiltonian describing a quantum particle living in the two-dimensional curved strip. We impose the Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions on opposite sides of the strip. The existence of the discrete eigenvalue below the essential spectrum threshold depends on the sign of the total bending angle for the asymptotically straight strips., Comment: 7 pages

We investigate the discrete spectrum of the Hamiltonian describing a quantum particle living in the two-dimensional straight strip. We impose the combined Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions on different parts of the boundary. Several statements on the existence or the absence of the discrete spectrum are proven for two models with combined boundary conditions.
