Researchers at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine have studied the mechanical and magnetic properties of composites based on biogenic hydroxyapatite modified by magnetite and chitosan. Increasing the content of magnetite in the composite led to a decrease in porosity and a significant increase in compressive strength and Young's modulus. The biogenic hydroxyapatite-magnetite-chitosan composites show promise in biomedicine due to their mechanical properties similar to porous human bone and magnetic properties suitable for various medical applications.
