A management information system with a specially designed decision support system has been developed to meet the specifications of Hongkong's jewelry manufacturing industry. The system is designed to help jewelry manufacturers make decisions in different aspects of their operations, such as materials requirement planning, vendor selection, job assignment, price quotation and sales analysis. A departure from the traditional methods of production control and management of Hongkong jewelry industry, the system has been proven to create an efficient production environment with improved inventory control and production scheduling.
