This paper presents a predictive and easily implementable hysteresis model for ferromagnetic laminations subjected to various quasi-static magnetic loads. In this model, the description of magnetic hysteresis is based on the decoupling of the magnetic field strength in a reversible and irreversible part, unlike in the Jiles-Atherton model. Thereby, the source of problems originating in the assumption that total magnetization could be split into the reversible and the irreversible component is bypassed. It should be stressed that models based on field separation principles are consistent with the laws of thermodynamics. The presented model allows for a systematic parameter identification based on standard magnetic measurements. In this paper, the variation of model parameters on the shape of the modeled hysteresis loop is presented. Furthermore, parameter identified from the major loop are applied to model symmetric minor loops that are evaluated by comparison with measurements. The structure of the model enables an inclusion of eddy-current effects, and is ready for a further exploitation in the FE modeling of macroscopic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: In the paper the behaviour of the recently modified Jiles–Atherton model of hysteresis under a distorted magnetization pattern is examined. The modification is aimed at improving the modelling of reversible processes. The equation for anhysteretic model is replaced from Langevin function to the more general Brillouin function. The structure of model equation is similar to that of the product Preisach model. The dynamic effects are taken into account in the description by the introduction of the lagged response with respect to the input. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The paper considers the estimation of parameters in a description of hysteresis proposed by Jiles and Atherton. A novel approach, based on a “branch and bound” global optimization method has been proposed. The efficiency of the proposed procedure has been verified using a data set representative for a class of soft magnetic materials with and without numerically generated noise, as well as on experimental data. It has been proven that the new method is robust and can generate meaningful sets of model parameters in both cases. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The physical assumptions underlying the static and dynamic Jiles-Atherton (JA) hysteresis models are critically analyzed. It is shown that the energy-balance method used in deriving these models is actually closer to a balance of coenergies, thereby depriving the resulting JA phenomenology of physical meaning. The non-physical basis of its dynamic extension is demonstrated by a sharp contrast between hysteresis loops predicted by the model and those measured for grain-oriented steel under conditions of controlled sinusoidal flux density at frequencies of 50, 100, and 200 Hz.
