A CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) workshop was held in the 44th Aircraft Symposium, October 2006, in order to evaluate domestic CFD technology for civil transport aircrafts in high-lift configurations. This report presents experimental data obtained in lowspeed wind tunnel testing for high-lift configuration aircraft model JSM (JAXA Standard Model). Two time of the testing were conducted at 6.5 m by 5.5 m Low-speed Wind Tunnel in JAXA (JAXA-LWT1) aiming to store validation data for CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis and to observe flow physics on high-lift system. JSM is a half type model which assumes 17 percent similarity of a modern 100-passenger class regional jet airliner. The model is equipped with leading edge slat, double-slotted flap at the inboard and single-slotted flap at the outboard, flow-through nacelle, in addition, a circular fuselage and Flap Track Fairings (FTF) so that the detailed flow fields occurring in actual aircraft can be provided. At first, repeatability and sensitivity of the force and the moment data in the case the detail of the model was slightly changed were assessed as well as the accuracy was confirmed from large amount of data in the first and the second testing. Variation in lift performances between long-cowling nacelle and short-cowling nacelle was observed with couple of the measurements and visualizations. The results showed much better stall performances of the short-cowling configuration than the long-cowling one that was due to less interference between the nacelle pylon and the wing. Boundary layer tripping on flap could clarify the loss in aerodynamic performances. Pressure-Sensitive Paint (PSP) measurement system was developed in the JAXA 6.5 m x 5.5 m low-speed wind tunnel. Pressure images on a High-Lift-Device (HLD) model, which was built for R&D (Research and Development) for next generation of civil transport aircraft, were measured by the low-speed PSP system. The dependencies of pressure patterns on flow speed and angle of attack were investigated. Pressure distribution peculiar to the HLD model were clearly visualized. The measurement accuracy of the present low-speed PSP system was approximately 0.16-0.2 in Cp at 60 m/s. Streamwise interfaces between laminar and turbulent regions in a flat-plate boundary layer are investigated using a rake of single hotwire probes. Two pieces of piezo-ceramic actuators are used to generate trapezoidal shaped turbulent regions, which have a wide leading edge in the spanwise direction. Its aim is to eliminate the contamination between the side interfaces and the downstream interface that are unavoidable in turbulent spot experiments. Experimental results show that a turbulent region has a sharp leading edge and a gradual trailing edge. It is shown that when a turbulent region passes by, the RMS (Root Mean Square) value remains high for a while although there is little disturbance remaining. We added the facility to acquire the data of wall static pressure for conducting the static pressure wall interference correction method using panel method to JAXA 6.5- by 5.5- m low speed wind tunnel strut cart. The standard model test set on two struts support system was conducted and wall static pressure was acquired then we applied the method to the test results. 本研究では、電動プロペラを動力とする航空機の飛行中に消費するエネルギー量が、発数やモータ、プロペラの諸元によってどのように変わるか、模型を使った風洞試験により計測した。模型は主翼スパン長が1.6mのラジコン機で、プロペラ発数を単発、双発、4発と形態変更することが可能である。実験では機体の空力特性から任意の迎角に対して釣り合いがとれる風速を予測しておき、同条件でプロペラ回転数を段階的に変化させながら、機体6分力と駆動モータへの供給電力を計測・比較した。最終的に架空の飛行ミッションを想定し、どの形態が最も少ない電力消費量でミッションを達成できるか、計算により推測した。, 資料番号: AA0049495006, レポート番号: JAXA-SP-05-019

宇宙航空研究開発機構風洞技術開発センター6.5m×5.5m低速風洞(以下LWT1)の計測技術向上およびノウハウ蓄積の一環として、ONERA低速標準模型を用いた全機模型遷移計測試験を実施した。今回採用した計測手法は、定量的点計測法としてプレストン管およびホットフィルムセンサー、また、可視化的手法として感温液晶フィルムおよび赤外線カメラである。計測は左舷主翼外翼部に関して行い、主にLWT1での汎用性という視点に注目した。試験の結果、プレストン管およびホットフィルムによる定量計測は、計測点の移動に時間を要するものの詳細かつ正確なデータ取得に適していることが実証された。一方、可視化的な手法としては、感温液晶フィルムよりも赤外線カメラの方が適当であることが明らかとなった。総合的には、LWT1においては、赤外線カメラ計測結果から得たマクロな情報を元に、プレストン管あるいはホットフィルムにより重要なポイントの詳細計測を行う手法が最適であるという結論を得た。, 資料番号: AA0048140005, レポート番号: JAXA-SP-04-011

Preliminary tests of a stereo PIV system applied to a large-scale, low-speed wind tunnel are conducted. A tip vortex generated by a rectangular wing with an angle of attack and interfered flowfield between jet-engine exhaust and external flow are demonstratively measured by an off-the-shelf PIV system to examine the applicability of the stereo PIV technique to the large-scale wind tunnel and to acquire data required to determine the specifications of the system. The test results proved applicability of the stereo PIV to the large-scale, low-speed wind tunnel, while accuracy evaluation is to be done extensively in future. 本稿は、繰り返しのリズム運動である、蝶の羽ばたきに関するものであり、安定な羽ばたき飛翔を実現する原理を解明することを目的とする。まず、蝶を剛体多体系とみなして、解析のための動力学モデルをラグランジュの方法で導出する。次に、翅に働く力を単純法でモデル化し、空気の慣性力と動圧に比例する力として計算する。また、羽ばたき運動の基礎的データを得るために、低速風洞を用いた実験システムを構築し、天秤と光学系により蝶の運動と空気力を同時に計測する。得られた実験データと数値計算結果を比較することにより、数学モデルの妥当性を検証する。さらに、数学モデルの蝶が安定に飛行できるように、羽ばたき動作の周期運動を探索する。, This paper is concerned with the flapping of wings of a butterfly, which is rhythmic and cyclic motion. The objective is to clarify the principle of a stable flapping-of-wings flight. First, a dynamics model of a butterfly is derived for analyses by Lagrange's method, where the butterfly is considered as a rigid body system. Second, a simple method is applied to make a simulator where the method calculates the aerodynamic force. Next, a experimental system with a low-speed wind tunnel is constructed for fundamental data of flapping-of-wings motion, where the system measures aerodynamic force and motion simultaneously by a balance and a optical measurement system. Validity of the mathematical model is examined by comparing the measured data with the numerical results. The blade tip includes the subwing which reduces BVI (Blade Vortex Interaction) noise by dividing the tip vortex into a pair of vortices. The wind tunnel test using several types of tip shape is conducted on the non-rotating condition. One of them is a canard tip, which has two subwings and is based on the concept of advanced fighter's canard wing. NAL大型低速風洞において、運動の自由度を与えた全機形態空力弾性模型の能動制御技術(active control technology)の実証研究に使用するために、張力制御式模型支持装置を開発した。本装置では、風洞測定部中央に鉛直に設置したレールに沿って摺動する模型を測定部天井に設置したトルクモータで吊り下げている。空力弾性相似模型に運動の相似性をもたせるために、本装置は模型の吊り線の張力を一定に制御する。さらに、模型が風洞測定部をはみ出すことなく、ほぼ中央付近で安定した運動をさせるために復元力とダンピング力を遠隔操作で任意に設定する機能も有している。本装置を、NAL大型低速風洞で実施した全機形態空力弾性模型の突風荷重軽減実験に使用し有効に作動することを確認した。この報告書は本装置の構成、機能、使用例について記述する。, A tension-controlled model suspension system was developed which is to be used in validation study of active control technology, giving a complete aircraft model a motion degree of freedom in the NAL low speed wind tunnel. A torque motor on the tunnel ceiling suspends a model which moves along a rail vertically supported at the center of the wind tunnel test section. The system controls a cable tension constant against model motion in order to provide an aeroelastic similar model with motion similarity. Furthermore, this model makes it possible to give a restoring and a damping force arbitrarily by remote operation so that a model should fly around a center position without going out of the test section. The system was successfully used in the wind tunnel tests for gust load alleviation of a complete aircraft aeroelastic model, and its effective functions were verified. 航空宇宙技術研究所大型低速風洞では、1989年よりケーブルマウント･システムを用いた全機の動的風洞試験を実施している。本試験法は、風洞内にケーブルで支持された模型を自力浮上させて安定した自由飛行をさせ、その運動から空気力を同定するものである。空気力は模型重力の加速度、角速度、姿勢角およびケーブル力を測定し、既知の模型の質量、慣性モーメントから運動方程式により同定される。動的風洞試験では安定した自由飛行を実現させるために模型の位置制御が必須であり、模型の位置を正確に測定することは、本試験法を確立するための重要課題である。本報告は、ケーブルマウント･システムによる動的風洞試験の模型位置測定に用いた光学式3次元位置測定装置の位置測定原理と校正方法、模型の基準位置および方位角の測定方法について述べる。, Dynamic wind-tunnel tests using a cable mount system were conducted at the NAL (National Aerospace Laboratory) low-speed wind tunnel to identify the stability derivatives of a spaceplane model since 1989. In this wind tunnel test, the control surfaces of the aircraft model (aileron, rudder) are controlled by the outboard computer, and the model is supported by two fore and two aft cables and flies within five dimensions of freedom in the wind tunnel. During the test, the position measurement of the model is necessary to fly the aircraft model safely at the center of the test section. This optical position measuring system was adopted as the position sensor of the flying model. Firstly, the method of measurement and calibration of the optical position measuring system used to control the model position in the wind tunnel are described. Secondly, the factors which cause measurement errors in this system are discussed. Then, in order to decrease the errors, improvement of the hardware and software and the method of calibrating the system are presented. Finally, the results obtained by the improved system are compared with the data obtained by the original system. 航空宇宙技術研究所の突風風洞では、HOPE開発のための一翼を担う小型自動着陸実験機(ALFLEX:Automatic Landing Flight Experiment)の着陸時空力特性を把握するための地面効果試験を実施した。しかし、地面効果試験において従来の風洞の模型支持方式では、風洞模型を着陸時の姿勢と速度に準じて上下方向に制御することは不可能である。そこで、新たな風洞模型支持装置として産業用ロボットの機構と機能に着目し、これを用いた風洞模型支持システムと風洞試験方法を開発した。本システムでは、風洞模型を要求に応じて迎角、横滑り角、回転角を持った姿勢を設定できるほか、指定した位置へ迅速に移動させることができる。本システムを用いたALFLEXの風洞試験では、従来の低速風洞試験と共に地面効果試験が効率的に実施されただけでなく、最近注目されている動的試験データの取得が可能になるなど、新しい展開の風洞試験方法の可能性を示すことができた。, To support the test model and provide a means of changing the attitude and the position, a test on the use of an industrial robot was performed in the NAL gust wind tunnel. For the model support system using a robot, the functional tests were made and aerodynamic characteristics tests at a low-speed wind and ground effect tests were conducted using the 8.9 percent scale model of HOPE (H-2 Orbiting Plane) ALFLEX (Automatic Landing Flight Experiment) vehicle. The obtained data were compared with the results from the same model supported by the sting of a conventional type. This report mainly describes the functional performance of the model support system using the robot and the influence of the robot's arm on the wind flow. The results indicated that the present model support system is very useful to move the model quickly in various directions in the wind tunnel. JAXA総合技術研究本部(Institute of Aerospace Technology: IAT)風洞技術開発センター(Wind Tunnel Technology Center: WINTEC)では、感圧塗料(Pressure-Sensitive Paint: PSP)を利用した表面圧力場計測技術の研究開発を行なっている。PSP計測は従来の電子式センサーによる計測と比較して、安価で手軽に風洞模型全面の圧力場を可視化することができる利点がある。しかし、PSPの発光強度は圧力だけではなく温度にも依存するため、計測精度を高めるためにはPSP温度補正が不可欠である。過去の実験において、IR(InfraRed)カメラを利用した温度補正により計測精度を改善することに成功している。しかし、赤外線(IR)カメラ計測では、周辺温度の写りこみや、マーカーが検出できないなどの問題があり、さらに2種類の異なる計測システムを操作する煩雑さがあるため実用計測システムには不向きである。そこで、上記したIRカメラ併用システムの問題を解消する計測システムとして、PSPに感温色素を混合した複合感圧塗料(複合PSP)の研究を開始した。複合PSPに使用する感温色素は、大阪大学と共同開発をした。複合PSPシステムの技術実証として、JAXA2m×2m低速風洞試験に適用し、複合PSP計測システムの有効性を評価した。その結果、従来の方法(通風直後の無風時画像を用いた計測法)よりも定量的に計測精度を向上させることができ、本システムの温度補正機能が有効であることが実証された。一様流速U(sub ∞)=50m/sにおいて計測精度は約150Paを達成した。また、複合PSPシステムの利点として、IRカメラを併用するシステムよりも使い勝手が良く、実用システムとして有望であることが確認できた。, Pressure-Sensitive Paint (PSP) system is a useful measurement tool for acquiring overall pressure images on an aerodynamic model. However, the luminescent intensity of PSP depends on both pressure and temperature. Thereby, Bi-luminophore PSP (bi-PSP) has been developed in order to correct the error due to temperature dependence of the PSP. The bi-PSP contained pressure- and temperature-sensitive dye. Tetranuclear europium (III) complexes and PdTFPP were used as temperature- and pressure-sensitive dye, respectively. The Eu complex was developed as a temperature sensor of the bi-PSP in cooperation with Osaka University. The luminescence intensity of the Eu complex was highly sensitive to temperature and insensitive to pressure. The bi-PSP was examined using a painted coupon and its characteristics were clarified. As a verification test, pressure distributions on a SuperSonic Transport (SST) model at low-speed flow were acquired by the bi-PSP measurement system. The root-mean-square difference of C(sub P) between PSP and tap data at 50 m/s was approximately 0.1 (150 Pa) at flow speed of 50 m/s, indicating that this bi-PSP system can accurately measure pressure as an IR (InfraRed) camera combined PSP system. 大型で高い揚力を発生する高揚力装置模型の低速風洞試験においては、風洞壁の空力干渉が大きくなる為、古典的な風洞壁境界修正法では空力係数の修正誤差が大きくなり、風洞試験データの信頼性が損なわれる。そこで、風洞試験で得られた揚力係数と、同時に計測した風洞壁面での静圧計測データを利用した風洞壁境界修正法を開発し、風洞試験データの信頼性を向上させることを試みた。また、開発した風洞壁境界修正法を、大小2種の相似矩形翼模型による風洞試験データに適用し、境界修正後の空力係数が一致することからその妥当性を検証した。さらに、検証の過程で、大型で高い揚力を発生する模型の場合、模型による風洞壁面での擾乱速度の取り扱いは、流れ方向に加え垂直成分も考慮する方が修正データの信頼性が増すことを明らかにした。, In low-speed wind tunnel tests for a large-scale high-lift device model, the effect of wall interference is significant and the use of a classical wall interference correction technique becomes dubious. In this report, an attempt has been made to improve the reliability of wind tunnel data by using panel method together with the lift coefficient of the model and static pressure data on the tunnel wall. The method is then applied to a low-speed wind tunnel test using small and large rectangular wing models and the validity is examined. 風洞技術開発センター(WINTEC: Wind Tunnel Technology Center)では、感圧塗料(Pressure-Sensitive Paint: PSP)計測の大型実用風洞群への整備を進めている。従来の静圧孔を用いた電子式センサーによる計測では離散的なデータしか得られなかったが、PSPを用いることで模型上の面情報が得られ、衝撃波位置などの詳細流れ場の情報を可視化することができる。しかしながら、感圧塗料の発光強度は圧力依存性と同時に温度依存性を有しているため、計測精度を向上させるためには何らかの手法を用いて温度補正を施す必要がある。これまで、我々は、模型の左右片側ずつを感圧塗料と感温塗料で塗り分けすることで温度補正を行ってきた。しかし、この手法の場合、流れの左右対称性を仮定しなければならず、さらに片側の圧力場情報しか得られない短所がある。よって、横滑り角をとるような計測や半裁模型など非対称形状模型試験には適用できない。このような背景から、本研究では赤外線カメラ(IRカメラ)を用いて模型上の温度分布を計測し、その温度をPSP温度補正に利用する方法を試みた。温度依存性に起因する計測誤差は、特に圧力変化の小さい低速域で致命的な計測誤差になる。そこで、本PSP計測システムを2m×2m低速風洞試験に適応し、システムの有効性を評価した。その結果、従来の方法(通風直後の無風時画像を用いた計測法)よりも定量的に計測精度を向上させることができ、本システムの温度補正機能が有効であることが実証された。また、低速風洞試験における計測精度は、一様流速50m/sにおいてCp換算で約0.1(0.15kPa)を達成した。, A Pressure-Sensitive Paint (PSP) measurement system has been developed in the large-scale wind tunnels of the Wind Tunnel Technology Center (WINTEC). PSP technique provides a simple and inexpensive way to obtain overall pressure images on an aerodynamic model surface with high spatial resolution. However, the luminescent intensity of PSP depends on both pressure and temperature. Therefore, temperature correction of PSP should be conducted to increase measurement accuracy. For our present PSP system, a PSP/Temperature-Sensitive Paint (TSP) combined system is used for temperature correction. When the PSP/TSP combined system is applied, the flowfield on both right and left wings of a model should be identical. Accordingly, the system cannot acquire pressure images on a model at sideslip angles. A half-model is also inapplicable, because it is not a symmetric configuration. To solve these problems, a PSP system combined with an Infrared (IR) camera was developed. This technique could acquire pressure images without the limitations mentioned above. The PSP/IR combined system was applied to 2 m x 2 m low-speed wind tunnel for verification purposes because measurement accuracy of low-speed PSP is acutely sensitive to error due to the temperature dependence of PSP. 垂直離着陸型ロケットが降下時にエンジンを再着火して減速・軟着陸する場合、一様流とエンジンの逆噴射流との千渉が、空力特性に大きな影響を与える。これまでに行われた風洞試験による力計測では、計測された機体抗力係数C(sub d)は、逆噴射時、推力の増加に伴い抗力は増加するものの、ある推力範囲においては、ジェット噴射なし(推力0％)よりも、抵抗値が小さくなる場合があり、条件によっては、逆噴射によって降下速度が増す可能性があることが指摘されている。これらの現象については、逆噴射ジェットと一様流との干渉によって生じる流れ場が、推力の違いによって大きく変化することが予想されるが、その詳細については、未だ明らかとはなっていない。逆噴射ジェットの空間速度場計測に対して、PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry)を用いることで、従来のプローブを用いた点計測とは異なり、瞬時の空間速度場情報を得ることが可能なため、非定常性が強い速度場における高い有効性が期待される。そこで本研究では、この干渉流の空力特性に影響を与えるメカニズムを解明する目的で、PIVシステムによる空間速度分布の計測を試みた。その結果、逆噴射ジェットの形状やよどみ点位置に関する情報を得るとともに、平均および瞬時速度分布並びに乱流強度に関するデータを取得した。これらの計測結果より、逆噴射ジェットと一様流との干渉による強い非定常性が観測され、さらに、ジェットの有無により、ノズル出口上流部の流れの変化だけでなく、模型後流部での剥離の状態が大きく変化することが明らかとなった。以上の結果より、PIV計測により、逆噴射時の場合、噴射なしの場合より抵抗が小さくなるという現象が生じる原因に関して、流れ場との対応関係が解明された。, For a vertical-landing rocket, one of the most important issues is the reliability of vertical soft landing using the opposing jet of the rocket engine. The interaction between engine plumes and the free stream becomes important in the design of an attitude control system in the powered deceleration phase of landing. Since this interacting region has highly nonlinear characteristics, extremely unsteady motion is observed. Measurements for this study were performed in the JAXA 2 x 2 m low-speed wind tunnel using PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry), which improves our imagery and understanding of the complicated flow behavior. From the PIV measurements we obtained two component velocity fields of the opposing jet flow in a vertical model rocket landing, and derived the shape of the opposing jet, stagnation point, and intensity of turbulence. 遷移計測の高度化高効率化を念頭に、最適な計測手法選定と関連技術開発を目的として、開発試験において実施することが予想される非断熱性の輸送機形態模型を対象に遷移計測を実施した。試験は宇宙航空研究開発機構風洞技術開発センター6.5m×5.5m低速風洞(LWT1)において、ONERA低速標準模型を対象に行った。計測手法としては、定量的点計測法としてプレストン管およびホットフィルムセンサー、また、可視化的手法として感温液晶フィルムおよび赤外線カメラを使用した。試験の結果、プレストン管およびホットフィルムによる定量計測は、計測点の移動に時間を要するものの詳細かつ正確なデータ取得に適していることが実証された。また感温液晶と赤外線カメラを用いた計測およびその結果から、非断熱性の模型上であっても模型の強制冷却を行うことにより模型表面温度分布からの遷移点判定が可能であることが実証された。総合的には、本試験のような条件下においては、赤外線カメラ計測結果から得たマクロな情報を元に、プレストン管あるいはホットフィルムにより重要なポイントの詳細計測を行う手法が最適であるという結論を得た。, This study developed procedures to measure the boundary layer transition on a metallic aircraft model in a typical large-scale low-speed wind tunnel. 低速風洞縮流胴に沿った境界層の遷移過程を可視化および熱線計測などにより実験的に研究した。縮流胴境界層の遷移過程は次のように幾つかの素過程に分けられる。レイノルズ数が低い場合、凹面領域にはゲルトラー不安定により、流れ方向に軸を持ち対になって回転する縦渦列が発生する。層流境界層はその縦渦列によって歪められて変曲点を持ち、2次不安定によって乱流へと遷移する。しかし、下流の凸面領域に至ると主流の加速によって境界層は再層流化され、縮流胴出口まで層流状態が維持される。レイノルズ数が高い場合、縮流胴入口における初期境界層はすでに乱流状態にあり、凹面領域を通過する間に境界層厚さはさらに増加するが、その下流の凸面領域では一旦層流化する。しかし、縮流胴出口付近において乱流斑点が自然発生することにより、境界層は再遷移する。測定部の主流流速を増加すると乱流斑点が発生する位置は上流側のより加速された領域へと移動する。乱流斑点は加速流中でも下流に向かって成長するので、レイノルズ数が高い場合には測定部の境界層が乱流になるのは避けられない。, The transition process of boundary layers on a low-speed wind-tunnel contraction wall was experimentally investigated using flow visualizations and hot-wire/hot-film measurements. The process has several classifications depending on the Reynolds number. For the low Reynolds number, a row of counter-rotating longitudinal vortex pairs is generated by the Gortler instability on the concave wall. The velocity profile of the laminar boundary layer distorted by the Gortler vortices has inflection points, and eventually the secondary high-shear-layer instability causes high-frequency velocity fluctuations. These growing disturbances lead the boundary layer to a turbulent state within the concave region of the contraction. However, the resultant turbulent boundary layer is laminarized by acceleration of the mean flow in the convex region free from centrifugal instability. For the higher Reynolds number, the initial boundary layer flow was already turbulent at the entrance of the contraction. The boundary-layer thickness increases downstream within the concave region. On the convex wall the turbulent boundary layer is laminarized; however, re-transition occurred with the naturally occurring turbulent spots under a favorable pressure gradient. With an increase in the mean velocity in the test section, the location of occurrence of spots moves forward into a more accelerated region. The generation of tonal noise by airfoils has been a continuing problem of which the overall mechanism still remains yet to be uncovered. Results of an experimental investigation on tonal noise generation are presented. Quantitative measurements were obtained by use of hotwire and microphone. Furthermore, a flow visualization of the phenomenon was carried out by use of a smoke wire technique. Based on these experiments, a detailed description of the flow close to the trailing edge is obtained. The sound generation process takes place on the pressure side in the near-trailing edge region, where a thin layer of separated flow exists, which is essential to the mechanism. A Kelvin-Helmholtz instability appears to be the cause of the vortex generation. The interaction of shedding eddies with the trailing edge, resulting in the emission of pressure waves, represents the noise source. Events on the suction side are found to be of no significant influence to the sound generation mechanism.
