Resumo Este artigo pretende estabelecer diálogos entre as reflexões de Philippe Artières (1998) no ensaio “Arquivar a própria vida”, com questões teórico-críticas dos estudos literários e do trabalho com acervos de escritores. As práticas de arquivamento podem ser acessadas a posteriori na condição de rastros dos escritores, por meio da ordem dos fundos e dos discursos produzidos pelos titulares e pelos arcontes. Documentos dos acervos literários Ildásio Tavares e Judith Grossmann são analisados, a partir das imagens teóricas do rastro, traço e da sobrevivência, inseridas no paradigma indiciário da crítica biográfica, na condição de a posteriori, proposta pela psicanálise. Résumé Cet article vise à établir des dialogues entre les réflexions de Philippe Artières (1998) dans l’essai « Archiver sa propre vie », avec les questions théorico-critiques des études littéraires et le travail sur les fonds d’écrivains. Les pratiques archivistiques sont accessibles a posteriori dans l’état des traces d’écrivains, à travers l’ordre des fonds et les discours produits par les détenteurs et les Archontes. Les documents des collections littéraires Ildásio Tavares et Judith Grossmann sont analysés à partir des images théoriques de la « trace », « piste » et de la « survie », insérées dans le paradigme indicatif de la critique biographique, dans la condition d’a posteriori proposée par la psychanalyse. Abstract This article aims to establish dialogues between the reflections of Philippe Artières (1998) in the essay “Arquivar a própria vida”, with theoretical-critical questions of literary studies and work with collections of writers. Archival practices can be accessed a posteriori in the condition of traces of the writers, through the order of the funds and the speeches produced by the owners and the Arcontes. Documents from the literary collections Ildásio Tavares and Judith Grossmann are analyzed, from the theoretical images of the trail, trace and survival, inserted in the indicial paradigm of biographical criticism, as a posteriori, proposed by psychoanalysis.

RESUMO O artigo discute a existência de documentos e arquivos de direitos humanos, analisando o uso dessa classificação em arquivos públicos e privados, institucionais e pessoais. Arrola e critica fatores históricos, teóricos e metodológicos que favorecem o uso dessa classificação mais comumente em arquivos públicos e defende que, independentemente do caráter de seus produtores e acumuladores, é o uso posterior dos documentos e arquivos que permite que sejam considerados de direitos humanos. ABSTRACT The article discusses the existence of human rights documents and archives, analyzing the use of this classification in public and private, institutional and personal archives. It lists and criticizes historical, theoretical, and methodological factors that favor the use of this classification more commonly in public archives and argues that, regardless of the character of their producers and accumulators, it is the subsequent use of documents and archives that allows them to be considered related to human rights. RESUMEN Este artículo discute la existencia de documentos y archivos de derechos humanos, analizando el uso de esta clasificación en los archivos públicos y privados, institucionales y personales. Enumera y critica los factores históricos, teóricos y metodológicos que favorecen el uso de esta clasificación más comúnmente utilizada en los archivos públicos, además de argumentar que, independientemente del carácter de sus productores y acumuladores, es el uso posterior de documentos y archivos lo que les permite ser considerados como de derechos humanos.

This paper examines the Pahlavi Dynasty Museum, which was inaugurated in 1976 during the celebrations marking the fiftieth anniversary of Pahlavi rule. Built inside the Marble Palace, the shah's former residence in the center of Tehran, the museum was intended to memorialize the achievements of the Pahlavis, presenting the official Pahlavi version of Iran's modern history. The museum was unique in many respects, not least because it was the only former Pahlavi palace that had been converted into a museum to honor the Pahlavis, but it shared the objectives of other museums constructed during this period. During the late Pahlavi era, a major aspect of the state's cultural policy was to sponsor initiatives that strengthened the official state narrative, which argued that the Pahlavis were the legitimate heirs of a 2500-year-old monarchical tradition. The article explores how the state attempted to express these narratives through the museum's design and exhibits.

The visual speech recognition technology look for increase noise-sound in mobile context by extracting lip movement from input face pictures. Bimodal speech recognition algorithms depended on the frontal face (lip) photos, but because users must be able to speak holding a device by using this device in front of the user face, these techniques are difficult for users to utilize. Our suggested method records lip movement using a tiny camera built into a smartphone, making it more practical, simple, and natural. Additionally, this technique effectively prevents a decline in the input signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). For CNN-based recognition, visual properties are extracted via optical-flow analysis and merged with audio data. Although in the previous model, it doesn't give the output in the audio format. Hence in our proposed model, we can provide the output in the audio format. Our proposed aim to record a user speaking into the camera or user will upload the video. The system will initially detect only the lip area from the video. The system will divide this lip video into multiple frames. After sequencing the lip frames, feature extraction will be done from the lip frames. The model will be trained to extract these features further these extracted features from the trained model will be used to find out the sequence of phoneme distributions. The final output will be the word or phrase spoken by the user displayed on the camera.

Summary In 2019 and as part of the project “Thutmose’ I Amduat-Specimen”, further research work was performed at the tomb KV 38. During last course of this exploration, I achieved to secure more small mud-plaster fragments of the Book of Amduat, of which the cliff walls of the burial chamber were decorated. These different Amduat fragments can be identified as a part of the fourth, eighth, and ninth hour of the Book of Amduat. About the ninth hour there had never been a hint or a corresponding mention of it before. Therefore, this is also a piece of new archaeological evidence. After a comparative analysis of the paleographic and iconographic features of the displayed scenes on the newly found Amduat fragments with similar scenes from the tomb KV 34, it could be proved that there is a definite development between the time of Thutmose I and his successors. Furthermore, these sections highlight the iconographic features of the Amduat version of Thutmose I – their characteristic attributes and archaic decoration style form the original basis on which all subsequent versions have been built. Thus, this version could be the earliest source of the theological underworld books of the early 18th Dynasty.

Summary Newly found hieratic graffiti in the temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari enable shedding new light on the history of the area in the period of the 21st Dynasty. Three of them, written in the form of memoranda relating presumably to work done in the area, can be dated to the very end of the pontificate of the high-priest Menkheperre. There are good reasons to relate them to a burial or burials in the neighbouring Bab el-Gasus cache or else to the work done in this tomb at an early stage of its building history.

The seven books of the Hippocratic Epidemics appear to make it possible to describe the social profile of the patients who frequented Greek doctors from the mid-fifth to the mid-fourth centuries, and in particular to decide whether doctors attended mainly to the well-to-do. Previous studies have concentrated on the epigraphical evidence for the high status of many of the Thasian patients who are named in Books 1 and 3. But we need to account for the artisan occupations of some of the patients who are described in the other five books (are these patients typical?) and for the marked stylistic and other discrepancies that distinguish Books 1 and 3 from the rest. Endorsing an unconventionally early date for these books, the author suggests that the mention of artisan occupations in the other books is a sign of a degree of social democratization in the medical profession.

Summary The investigation concerns the enigmatic signs incised on the magic ivories of the Middle Kingdom and the Second Intermediate Period. They represent tutelary deities mainly of the cardinal points protecting private houses and tombs against various demons and enemies. Apparently, they are forerunners of the symbols of the magical bricks of BD 151 from the New Kingdom.

This review article of Joseph Farrell’s 2021 monograph on Virgil’s Aeneid (Juno’s Aeneid: A Battle for Heroic Identity, Princeton and Oxford) takes the cue from Farrell’s analysis of Virgil’s intertextuality with the Homeric epics and provides a methodological re-assessment of intertextuality in Virgilian studies and Latin literature more broadly. It attempts to retrace the theoretical history and some of the main applications of Latin intertextual studies and suggests some possible ways for Latinists to engage more profoundly with deconstructive criticism and post-critique.

Summary In 1877 Heinrich Brugsch, the founder of the ZÄS, mentioned a publication in print concerning foreign peoples in his „Geschichte Ägyptens unter den Pharaonen“. However, the work entitled „Ueber die libyschen Völker im 14. und 13. Jahrhundert vor Chr. Geb.“ should never appear. Six sheets from the estate of Ernst Weidenbach’s great-granddaughter can now be identified as part of this once announced work.

Summary The Malqatta Palace was built in the vicinity of modern Luqsor for the celebrations of the first sed festival of Amenhotep III. This archaeological site is renowned for its decorations but also for the thousands of jar labels found. They provide valuable information concerning the food product, the date, the origin, the stewart responsible for the area and the associated titles, the person in charge of the preparation and, thus, his specific title. One of those jobs’ designation, "responsible for fat preparation", hasn’t been read accurately so far. This article aims to provide an answer to this shortcoming. This title, which seems attested only at Malqatta and during the last years of Amenhotep III, should read p/fs(w) ʿḏ and should be translated as "fat-boiler".

Summary This paper deals with the title jry nfr-ḥȝ.t, which has been debated for a long time. The aim is to identify all individuals who weared this title from the Old Kingdom until the Late Period. The study of people wearing this title can provide some keys to understand the meaning of the expression jry nfr-ḥȝ.t. Some textual and iconographical informations give an idea of its significance, the period and reason of its creation, even if there are no direct evidence. The reuse of the title during the Late Period can be understood as well.

This study of the Late Egyptian literary work, The Contendings between the Body and the Head, presents a new edition of the Turin writing tablet CGT 58004. Having visualised recent photos of the tablet with DStretch, a new transcription of the text can be presented, along with a new translation. A textual analysis, moreover, reveals the highly playful and metaphorical nature of the language, whereby the feminine body paints a vivid picture of her roles and responsibilities in order to challenge the primacy of the masculine head.

Summary The article studies the trope of the crocodile bird in its evolution from antiquity to the present day. The story tells of the mutualistic behaviour between the Nile crocodile and an Egyptian bird, typically known as the trochilus. The trope has a complex history: primarily known from classical writers, it spread in fact to Jewish and Islamic traditions, too. The story is universally thought to be an invention of Herodotus. But a demotic papyrus, here published for the first time, proves that the trope of the crocodile bird has its true origin in ancient Egyptian culture.

Summary A fragmentary ostracon, inscribed in Egyptian hieratic and found by the Austrian team during renewed excavations at Lachish, can safely be dated to the early (pre-Amarna) 18th dynasty. Albeit difficult to read, it seems to preserve part of a list with apparently Canaanite names and allocated provisions, in a structured layout. This differs notably from the later (Ramesside) hieratic inscriptions from Lachish and provides important evidence for early scribal practice and Egyptian involvement at the site in the 15th century BC.

For the emperor, quoting Homer was both a danger and an opportunity. Suetonius’ Lives shows that anecdotes of quotation circulated widely to characterise the emperor for good or for ill. Subsequently, these moments could themselves become the subject of allusion. If you quote a line of Homer that was famously quoted by the emperor, are you quoting the poet or Caesar? This phenomenon, whereby a poetic cliché could be reborn as charged reference to a prior use of that tag by a well-known figure, might be termed metaquotation. This ambiguity of reference was exploited throughout Seneca's Apocolocyntosis, and in turn by readers of that text in antiquity.

La caracterización que hiciera Alberto Magno en su metafísica de la ratio pulchri servirá de clave estética basal para un análisis de la semblanza femenina en la primitiva pintura flamenca (siglo XV), centrado particularmente en la obra de Rogier van der Weyden y Hans Memling, que culminará en la Imago Pietatis, con atención subsidiaria a la presencia figurada de inteligencias puras en escenas de Natividad o Descendimiento. From 2016 to 2019, the backlash in Brazil against so-called gender ideology framed gender dissidence as a reason for the country’s perceived decline, playing a central role in the rise of Bolsonarismo, a movement increasingly identified as fascist. In this gender-hostile environment, I examine Brazil’s first trans men’s soccer team, the Meninos Bons de Bola (MBB), and its use of nudity as a response to the political shift rightward and to tell a story about the precarity of minoritized groups across the Americas. The team’s changing approach to trans representation exposes the period as a watershed in Brazilian politics. The MBB’s naked protest during this time of governmental change reveals resistance to the machinations of Brazilian fascism, including censorship, backlash, and shaming. By asserting that the MBB were never just about futebol, the team uses the national sport to enact trans politics and to claim belonging beyond the bounds of normative citizenship.

Strabo, in 10.3.7-23, presents an account of the music performed in initiation rites, according to which such music is used, naturally, to facilitate knowledge of divinity. I argue that, despite appearances, religious music, for Strabo, does not fulfill that function by reflecting the harmonious constitution of the cosmos—a Pythagorean-Platonic (and later, Stoic) idea that Strabo mentions but ultimately rejects. Instead, Strabo’s account is clearly influenced by Aristotelian theory, and it stresses the significance of the emotional effect (i.e., awe or astonishment) generated by religious music, which in turn is useful toward gaining knowledge of the gods, most probably because it motivates audiences to learn about them. Indeed, the affinity between Strabo’s text and Aristotle seems sufficient for Strabo’s 10.3.23, perhaps in addition to parts of 10.3.7 and 10.3.9, to count as Aristotelian ‘fragments.’

Cuando en la Edad Media hablamos de cristianismo e islam nos viene a la memoria la historia del desencuentro, que tiene como momento icónico el periodo de las cruzadas y sus caballeros. La figura del caballero es esencial al mundo medieval, tanto en su realidad como en su imaginario. La llegada del mundo islámico alimenta más si cabe esta figura, así como la necesidad de realizar una peregrinación de salvación de Tierra Santa. El caballero está dotado de una misión externa de confrontación, de búsqueda de la verdad que llevará al enfrentamiento, al desencuentro con el mundo islámico, también él bajo esquemas de confrontación y de héroes guerreros. Nosotros proponemos una alternativa nacida del encuentro de la mano de Francisco de Asís y los franciscanos. Nuevos caballeros que proponen una misión de encuentro, no de pérdida de identidad, sino de misión. Para ello analizaremos el caballero cruzado como realidad religiosa natural, el caballero, el pobre caballero franciscano como una alternativa sobrenatural, para, por último, reflexionar sobre la experiencia del propio Francisco de Asís en tierra de sarracenos.
