The environment in which human being, particularly, students operate makes information to be one of the decisive factors for survival. Students seek information to fill an identified gap in their quest for knowledge. This study, therefore, investigated information needs and seeking behaviour of students of the Nigerian Army School of Education, Ilorin, Nigeria. Five (5) research objectives were formulated for this study. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. Population for the study comprised of students at the Nigerian Army School of Education, Ilorin. Israel (2003) model for determining sample size was used to calculate the sample size with precision levels of 5% and confidence level of 95% and the recommended sample size was two hundred and twelve (212). A simple random sampling technique was used to select the samples from the population. The self-designed questionnaire was divided into six (6) sections. The content-related approach of validation was conducted to ensure the validity of the instrument while Cronbach alpha was used to test the reliability of the instrument and the overall reliability of the instrument was r = 0.832. The collated copies of the questionnaire were analyzed with the IBM SPSS version 21.0 using simple frequency counts and percentage. The presentations of the data for the research objectives were done using tables, pie charts and bar charts. The findings of the study showed that academic information is the major information need of the students of the Nigerian Army School of Education, Ilorin, Nigeria. The findings further revealed that the Internet and library are the most commonly used sources of information. The findings also showed that the major purpose at which the students seek information is to update their knowledge and to enhance their professional activities. However, the findings generally indicated that most students firstly acknowledge their information needs and compare available resources before making the final decision and if they seem not comfortable with the information they need in a particular information material, they will continue searching for information until they are satisfied. Among numerous challenges affecting information seeking behaviour of students, this study found insufficient library opening hours as the major challenge confronting the students of the Nigerian Army School of Education. The study, therefore, recommended that library working hours should be extended to meet the need of the students and that the library management should ensure that adequate collection of books is made available. The article discusses the future condition of the library collections for adults in the U.S. that requires to rethink what will be collected, how to collect and make the collections available. It states that libraries are far from the traditional quite place due to the emergence of technological innovations that allow library users to connect and use all available resources to gain knowledge. The need for librarians to cope up with the technological advances is also emphasized.

The present study aims to know the status of Android Base Education Institute Library Apps. Most of the apps are embedded with Google Play store. Hence total 33 Education Institute Library Apps were selected which are available on Google play for the study. Total 114 features were identified. Indian institute of management, Ahmadabad library app provides maximum features (63). Commercial developer such as Knimbus and Refread have developed most of the apps. This study was conducted to develop library services at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya by developing a system using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method and the Mobile Library. This is done to complement the website services which can be accessed through catalog.uinsby.ac.id. Many users, especially students, experience restlessness in returning the book because there is no reminder feature for the deadline to return the book. As well as resulting in the number of fines that increase in number for each day. The purpose of this research is to make users more free to use the library services of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya which are packaged in a mobile library application using the Ionic framework. This study uses the RAD method to develop applications. One of the advantages and disadvantages of the RAD method is that RAD has a flexible nature in its development so it doesn't wait for one process to be done. The results of this study are the creation of a mobile library application that has an online extension feature, a reminder of the date of return of borrowed books, and the total amount of late book fines. So that it does not interfere with the circulation of the book if there is a bridge in returning the book and equalization is maintained in each user In addition, it also increases interest in student learning and services and improves effective and efficient library management. The article offers information related to restructuring the Library of Congress. It discusses how reorganization of the work of the Library of Congress changed the world of information in the U.S. at the end of the nineteenth century by subsidizing the operations of libraries as well as the growing publishing industry. it is also evident that the classification system of the Library of Congress has been adopted only by larger and more academically oriented libraries.

This study investigated serial management in special libraries in Nigeria: a case study of five selected ministry libraries in Imo state - Nigeria. The purpose of the study was to ascertain how serials are managed for effective use by users in the selected ministry libraries. Survey research design method was used to conduct the study. The population of the study112, this comprised of the entire staff and users of the five ministry libraries studied. The sample size of the study is 112. Questionnaire and direct observation were used as instruments for data collection. Data collected for the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics and pie chart. Findings of the study showed that the five ministry libraries manage their serials by preserving and displaying them on the tables, placing them on the wood shelves, tying the serials into heaps as well as shelving some of the serials on the shelf. The study recommended that adequate fund, functional air conditions, modern reading desks and chairs should be provided to the ministry libraries by the Imo State Government in order to attract more readers. In the past ten years the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) has developed new ways to support cooperative development of critical research collections. CRL has expanded its role as a centralized aggregator of tangible collections to facilitate collection development, digitization, and licensing of collections by individual libraries and interest groups. This has required CRL to adopt new funding models, from partnerships and coalitions with key organizations, and use technology to support community engagement. As the number of reference questions continues to decline across academic libraries, innovative models have been developed to highlight collections and reach underserved communities. This article describes four outreach models at the University of New Mexico University Libraries, including satellite outreach services, pop-up book trucks and events, and relationship building at various locations on and off campus. The authors describe innovative approaches including curated browsing experiences and relationship marketing to underserved communities. Purpose – This paper aims to explore a theoretical and methodological approach to preservation management in libraries, relying on the basic presumption that preservation is a complex and comprehensive process that involves many different and seemingly diverse aspects whose efficiency lies in preservation management. Design/methodology approach – Using a case study of Croatia, the paper describes a methodology for exploring the general preservation management context and presents a preservation management model that comprises five key components. Findings – The paper offers insight into preservation management issues in a specific national context. Research limitations/implications – Although this paper focuses primarily on written heritage in libraries, it is applicable to other types of heritage and to other types of information institutions. Practical implications – The theoretical and methodological approach presented in this paper and described in the example of Croatia can be useful for exploring similar issues in other countries. It can be expanded to other types and forms of heritage and heritage institutions. Originality/value – The paper describes a model of organising preservation activities into an efficient and successful preservation system, and establishes a methodology for exploring diverse preservation issues on national and institutional levels. A case study is presented regarding the Masood Jhandeer Research Library (MJRL) in Sardarpur Jhandeer, Pakistan, the country's largest private library. Topics include the availability of equipment and facilities for the preservation and conservation of manuscripts and rare materials, MJRL's plans for future development, and the status of the library's collection as of December 2011.

The cultural heritage of library collections and individual items is of importance and interest outside the profession of librarianship, This paper gives an introduction to the concept of 'movable heritage' from the heritage professional's perspective and provides suggestions as to how this concept can be applied to libraries. Identifying what is of cultural heritage significance and how a collection/item is significant is the key to making management decisions which balance the conservation of a library's heritage items with other pressures in library management. The authors are both managers in OhioLINK libraries and have complex experiences working within a variety of simultaneous library consortial agreements. Their librarians'-eye view of consortia allows for a discussion of the nature of that landscape, some perspectives on the benefits and advantages of consortia as well as thoughts on the challenges and limitations of consortia. They conclude that while consortial partnerships hold the key to greater efficiencies and strength in libraries, the overlapping layers of consortial agreements that connect libraries form almost a web that can be constricting. Libraries should continue to be creative about how they exploit the power of consortial relationships, but they also need to learn how to lower the administrative overhead created by these agreements, particularly in the areas of communication and the organizational flow of information. The published and research literature on joint use libraries relates mostly to school community libraries, which are normally combinations of high school and public libraries. That literature often still emphasizes the susceptibility of joint use libraries to dysfunctionality or even failures, although the record of successful combinations is improving because of informed planning and consideration of the requirements for success. Evaluation of joint use library performance and progress is one requirement that is still given little attention in planning and formal agreements. The uniqueness of most joint use libraries also militates against general evaluation criteria and benchmarking. Difficulties in a joint use library, therefore, tend to be unrecognized by its institutional partners until there is a crisis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
