The purpose of this research is to adapt the Scale of Happiness Orientations, which was developed by Peterson, Park, and Seligman (2005), into Turkish and examine the psychometric properties of the scale. The participants of the research consist of 489 students. The psychometric properties of the scale was examined with test methods; linguistic equivalence, descriptive factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, criterion-related validity, internal consistency, and test-retest. For criterion-related validity (concurrent validity), the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire-Short Form is used. Articles resulting from the descriptive factor analysis for structural validity of scale were summed into three factors (life of meaning, life of pleasure, life of engagement) in accordance with the original form. Confirmatory factor analysis conducted yielded the value of three-factor fit indexes of 18 items: (χ2/df=1.94, RMSEA= .059, CFI= .96, GFI= .95, IFI= .95, NFI= .96, RFI= .95 and SRMR= .044). Introduction We aimed to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Turkish translation of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) in 115 male alcohol-dependent patients. Method The reliability of the instrument was assessed by measuring test-retest, interrater and internal reliabilities. In the validity analysis, the correlation coefficients between corresponding severity ratings and composite scores of each subscale and concurrent validity were assessed. Moreover, the discriminant validity and concurrent validity scores were calculated. Results The test-retest reliability of the ASI scores ranged from .79 to .91. The interrater reliability assigned by three raters was high (.74 to .99). Cronbach's alpha coefficient for internal consistency was .85 for all scales, and it varied between .64 and .77 for the subscales. The Beck Depression Inventory moderately correlated with the Psychatric status, and the MacAndrew Alcoholism Scale correlated with the Alcohol and Drug Use subscales of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI). The correlation coefficient was .91 for the alcohol use subscale. Conclusion The results obtained in this study suggest that the Turkish version of the ASI could be used as a reliable and valid instrument in alcohol-dependent patients.

Purpose: Turkey's population is young, with only 6.6% of the population estimated at ages 65 years and older in 2013. However, the ageing population is growing rapidly, and Turkey is facing an aging population structure during the next decade. In this context, the majority of Turkey's elderly population will inevitably face significant health and social care needs in the future. Socio-economic and psychological issues such as loneliness, participation in society, maintaining quality of life and active aging, have become very important agendas with the increasingly elderly population. However, the formal and informal care workforce is insufficient. Moreover, a safe home environment will also be needed to provide access to health and social services such as assisted living facilities; this will enhance the quality of life and the participation of individuals in society. The need for technological devices that enable the elderly to provide for their own needs is very obvious. This paper describes a project using assisted living technology provided through local governments as well as by public and non-government organizations and also describes how to put this type of technology into practice. The purpose of the project is to address the challenges elderly people will confront and to meet the needs and demands of an aging population in Turkey. Method: In this study, we conducted face-to-face interviews with fifteen local government officials as well as with leaders of public and non-governmental organizations and managers who provide services in this project. Semi-structured interview techniques were used to analyze gerontechnological methods in Ankara, Antalya and I?stanbul. We analyzed the perceived importance, acceptance, and difficulties in using gerontechnological products and services for older adults in Turkey. Results & Discussion: Gerontechnology is seen as a key solution for those who are faced with confronting the prospect of increasing demands for eldercare. The growing use of technology is facilitating access to health services in a way that enhances the quality of life for the elderly. Based on the results of this study, Turkish elderly people find gerontechnology readily acceptable, but social and economic access are crucial issues. The government must develop policies designed to provide affordable quality services, especially long-term care, for elderly people. Coordination and cooperation is needed between the various health and social care sectors. In conclusion, Turkey's population of elderly increasingly demand the use of technology. The elderly will benefit directly from technology but also face crucial challenges related to economic, social and cultural factors.

As the dictionary meaning of “delikanlilik” is youth or adolescence or young man, but the metaphorical meaning of “delikanlilik” in Turkish language is different. Honesty, bravery, manhood, he-man and courage are some positive characteristics of “delikanli”. hi Turkish culture, “delikanlilik” is one of the socio-cultural identity components which leads to produce positive meaning and emphasizing masculinity. The aim of this study knows what University students think about “delikanlilik”, and how they define “delikanli”. The sample of this study is composed of students who are from Gazi University Literature Faculty, their ages between 18-25 years old and some of them are my friends on Facebook. The open-ended question was asked to the students and it was said that our expectation was at least half page writing about “delikanlilik”. Also same question was asked to some Facebook users who are different age groups. Obtained data was evaluated by qualitative analyzing techniques.
