Canada regularly faces environmental public health (EPH) disasters. Given the importance of evidence-based, risk-informed decision-making, we aimed to critically assess the integration of EPH expertise and research into each phase of disaster management. In-depth interviews were conducted with 23 leaders in disaster management from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and were complemented by other qualitative methods. Three topics were examined: governance, knowledge creation/translation, and related barriers/needs. Data were analyzed through a four-step content analysis. Six critical success factors emerged from the analysis: blending the best of traditional and modern approaches; fostering community engagement; cultivating relationships; investing in preparedness and recovery; putting knowledge into practice; and ensuring sufficient human and financial resources. Several promising knowledge-to-action strategies were also identified, including mentorship programs, communities of practice, advisory groups, systematized learning, and comprehensive repositories of tools and resources. There is no single roadmap to incorporate EPH expertise and research into disaster management. Our findings suggest that preparation for and management of EPH disaster risks requires effective long-term collaboration between science, policy, and EPH practitioners at all levels in order to facilitate coordinated and timely deployment of multi-sectoral/jurisdictional resources when and where they are most needed.

This study aims to reflect on the spending reviews' capacity-building initiatives undertaken over the years, the experience and methodology employed. It discusses the feedback collected from survey questionnaires developed during and upon completion of each spending review capacity-building initiative and shares a case study of a completed and actioned spending review. The paper details the contribution of spending review training in building capacity of officials working in National and Provincial Treasuries in South Africa. It is argued that the spending review capacity-building initiatives contributed to the adoption of spending reviews as part of the annual budget process, culminating into the issuing of a government-wide guideline to use it as a tool in budgeting processes from 2021. This research not only contributes to the body of work on knowledge-transfer theory, but also offers lessons learnt in undertaking capacity building for public sector officials to promote knowledge transfer. Existing literature lacks an in-depth exploration of Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) studying transnational religious rituals and scripture dissemination, leaving a notable research gap. The study integrated the SECI model with an institutional distance framework to create a new path analysis, this research aims to reveal interorganizational knowledge transfer dynamics within such religious groups, focusing on Tiandi Teachings (TT) in Taiwan and its Branches of the Japan Diocese (BJD). Employing extended case methodology with participant observation and semi-structured interviews, the study analyzed data using grounded theory and NVivo 12 software. It identified insights into knowledge transfer processes within international religious organizations, elucidating mechanisms for establishing local legitimacy and transferring religious knowledge across borders. This research contributes to understanding how religious organizations globalize, enriches institutional theory, and underscores the importance of integrating institutional concepts with knowledge transfer models. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating effect of a firm's customer centricity and market orientation on the relationship between the knowledge management and business performance. Design/methodology/approach: The hypotheses proposed for this study were tested on the data collected from 274 sample firms using partial least square-based structural equation modeling. Findings: According to the findings of this study, a firm's customer-centricity fully mediates the relationship between explicit and tacit knowledge management and a firm's business performance, whereas a firm's market orientation partially mediates the relationship between tacit and implicit knowledge management systems and a firm's business performance. Originality/value: This study can be considered as a pioneer work that investigates how explicit and tacit knowledge can be transformed into business performance with the mediating effect of a firm's customer centricity and market orientation on this relationship. In response to the challenges of numerous knowledge points and fragmented concepts in the structural chemistry course, as well as the difficulty for students to establish a disciplinary framework and a comprehensive knowledge system, this paper proposed a logical framework and knowledge graph, based on the thematic thread of "Schrödinger equation approximation models - core concepts - simple applications". This framework includes six branches: particle in box model, single electron hydrogen-like atoms, multi-electron atoms, H2 + molecular, H2 molecules, and multi-atom molecules. By reconstructing fragmented knowledge and forming a complete knowledge chain, this approach aims to help students understand the logical relationships, generation context and interconnections of important concepts, and provides them with a context for knowledge transfer, ultimately facilitating their understanding and application of knowledge. Recent research on innovation management and knowledge transfer has demonstrated that industry knowledge collaboration and knowledge spillovers matter for innovation, but so does a firm's Research and Development (R&D). Conditional to a firm's R&D investment, this study makes a theoretical investigation into the role of two knowledge transfer strategies—industry coopetition and industry knowledge spillovers for a firm's innovation. Based on an analysis of a sample of 17,859 UK firms from 2002 to 2014, we demonstrated why and under what conditions firms will (a) invest in internal R&D, (b) engage in coopetition, and (c) access knowledge spillovers to introduce new to firm (incremental innovation) and new to market products (radical innovation). The results of this study demonstrate that firm managers who choose knowledge spillovers versus coopetition are likely to achieve radical vis-à-vis incremental innovation. Benefits from the coopetition can be achieved with low investment in R&D, while R&D is essential in recognizing the knowledge spillover for radical innovation. By deciding whether to deploy its costly R&D and access external knowledge via industry coopetition or spillovers, the firm is also making a concomitant decision about the type of innovative activity it will generate. Purpose: Prior research has extensively explored the dynamics of knowledge creation and transfer within entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs). However, the research on knowledge integration within EEs, particularly by entrepreneurs, remains scant. Garnering and effectively using knowledge in such a dynamic and complex environment can provide entrepreneurs with a valuable asset for gaining a competitive advantage. To address this gap, this study aims to explore how entrepreneurs garner and capitalise on knowledge within the EE environment by using a transactive memory system lens. Design/methodology/approach: This study is based on 26 semi-structured interviews with different actors and members of the same ecosystem – the northern Finnish health tech ecosystem. The data were analysed using the Gioia methodology. Findings: This study results found that transactive memory processes (i.e. knowledge specialisation, credibility and coordination) and structures (i.e. differentiated-, shared- and meta-knowledge) influence knowledge organising in EEs. Purpose: The objective of this paper is to synthesize literature on knowledge management, to investigate the effectiveness of traditional and contemporary knowledge transfer methods, and to conduct a comparative analysis of their advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, the paper will examine challenges associated with the transfer of tacit knowledge, using cultural institutions as a case study, such as linguistic barriers and generational gaps, and will propose strategies for improving the transfer of tacit knowledge. In this way, this article aims to contribute to the understanding of effective methods and techniques for transferring tacit knowledge across generations, while simultaneously highlighting its role in shaping organizational practices and strategies. Data for the article were collected through an analysis of the available literature, with reference to methods applied in a cultural institution context. Design/methodology/approach: A comparison of knowledge transfer methods in a cultural institution was conducted using a structured interview. The literature analysis confirms the direction of the methods used in the institution. Fingings: As a result of the literature analysis and the practical application of various methods of knowledge transfer, considering generational differences, the thesis was confirmed that young employees do not want to be instructed but prefer to explore the experiences of older colleagues and learn from them for the future. This provided ample room for the development of intergenerational knowledge transfer tools based on mutual trust, inspiration, stimulation, and long-term cooperation between young and older employees, particularly through mentoring. Background. The value of services in healthcare institutions such as hospitals is created by leveraging the knowledge, skills, and experiences of their healthcare staff. Therefore, knowledge transfer is necessary to empower the employees in the hospital. Since few studies have explored the impact of knowledge transfer on the empowerment of hospital employees, this study aimed to investigate the impact of knowledge transfer and its components on employees' empowerment in Qazvin teaching hospitals. Methods. In this descriptive-analytic and cross-sectional study, 330 teaching hospital staff members of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences were investigated between February 2020 and May 2020. The required data were collected using the Knowledge Transfer Questionnaire (De-Castro, et al., 2008) and the Empowerment Questionnaire (Spreitzer, 1992). The data were analyzed using the correlation method and structural equation analysis (SEM) as well as using SPSS-22 and AMOS software. Results. There was a direct relationship between the dimensions of knowledge transfer and personnel empowerment (P<0.001), and all examined dimensions were above average. Moreover, the dimensions of knowledge transfer also had a significant impact on personnel empowerment. Regarding the fit of the model, the values of GFI, CFI, and NFI indices were obtained above 0.90. In addition, the RMSEA index was 0.074, which indicated the good fit of the model. Conclusion. In summary, the staff's empowerment level was enhanced through the knowledge transfer. Therefore, it was recommended that the hospital managers should improve the level of workers' empowerment by implementing effective strategies, such as providing training courses for the employees. For some years now, information organisations have been increasingly struggling with the retirement of employees who have a great deal of experience and knowledge. There is a great danger that these professional experts will take their knowledge with them into retirement or to other institutions and thus irrevocably lose it for the organisations. This article deals with the knowledge chain method, which makes it possible to effectively externalise experiential knowledge in particular. In order to apply this method effectively, it is important to understand the difference between tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge. Social network sites, most notably Facebook, have fundamentally transformed the way information is transferred, received, and shared by individuals and organisations. This article explores the diverse contexts in which Facebook is utilised as a knowledge-sharing instrument, along with the key challenges encountered in adopting Facebook as a knowledge-sharing instrument. It also indicates the gaps in adopting Facebook as a knowledge-sharing instrument. In a systematic literature review, 400 articles accomplishing the research objectives were identified. The findings revealed that Facebook can be used in different contexts. Greater awareness of Facebook's versatility as a platform for knowledge sharing across various domains is recommended. Analyzing the effects of knowledge management in higher education is challenging because of various aspects of tasks such as teaching effectiveness, administrative services, and research communications. Employees' job performance is crucial in higher education institutions in order to disseminate innovations, knowledge, and collaboration. Thus, studying the relationship between knowledge management practices and job performance is essential. Therefore, this literature review and topic analysis aims to provide a concept-driven approach for synthesizing and analyzing numerous available literature bases. Collected journal articles and conference papers were scrutinized based on this research work's above-mentioned aim. Finally, 41 relevant papers have been studied in this work. The presented work advances the understanding of the role of knowledge management processes in higher education institutions in increasing job performance. Findings suggest that individual, national, and professional teams, language issues, and trust can impact knowledge-sharing practices and job performance of higher education institutes' employees.

In January 1940, the Wehrmacht had only a two-month supply of torpedo oil, an irreplaceable lubricant derived solely from the feet and shinbones of slaughtered cattle. The Wehrmacht resolved this shortage by appointing the man responsible for its supply during the First World War: Alfons Knetsch. This case study shows not only the importance of knowledge transfer from one war to the other but also how competing industrial interests shaped Nazi recycling policy and how an efficient, vigorously managed recycling organization could buy time for the research and development of substitutes, overcoming seemingly impossible raw material bottlenecks. Efficient knowledge transfer enhances tourism destination competitiveness. Multiple factors, however, affect knowledge transfer, making it a complex process to quantify. To address this complexity, we developed a quantitative tool by integrating a diffusion model with the major antecedents of knowledge transfer identified in the knowledge management literature. We applied this model in the Western Australian tourism industry and demonstrated its practicality. The proposed model provides a quantitative tool for destination management organizations to monitor, assess and improve the efficiency of knowledge diffusion within their tourism destinations. In the winter semester 2023/24, the authors of this article taught the seminar "Playful Numismatics. Computer game-based knowledge transfer of Roman coinage". The aim of the interdisciplinary course between the fields of Classical Archaeology/Ancient Numismatics and the Master's profile Digital Humanities was to develop computer games using the RPG Maker MV application. The games impart knowledge about Roman coinage and relevant background information about the Roman world in a playful way and at a low-threshold level for a broad audience. This paper presents the workflow of the project and the project's outcomes and discusses the potentials of serious games for teaching ancient numismatics in university context and to transmit knowledge about ancient coinage beyond academia to a non-specialist public audience. Rural areas are regaining attention as key resource holders. This includes the attractiveness of intact and traditional cultural elements and heritage which helps to create new opportunities. However, renewal is needed for rural areas to be competitive beyond tourism. Knowledge exchange and transfer is seen as an enabling tool for regeneration and heritage valorization, although it has mostly been applied in an urban context. The aim of this paper is to explore the role of capacity building and knowledge exchange at different levels in promoting rural regeneration through heritage-led initiatives. The article describes a multi-directional knowledge transfer and exchange in 19 rural areas. The applied knowledge exchange methodology was designed to be a dynamic and vibrant exchange of capacity building and mutual learning. This exchange of knowledge enabled the local communities involved to explore new ideas and viable solutions for the regeneration of rural areas through the valorization of cultural and natural heritage. The research findings show that structuring a knowledge transfer and capacity building process that also involves key local stakeholders and the rural communities is an important milestone in the regeneration process. Research in the knowledge management field has been a point of attraction for innovation and sustainability. The need for research and the effort by the researchers are important to be analysed to know the overall status of contributions and contributors. The purpose of this paper is to identify trends in knowledge management research and forecast future trends through bibliometric analysis. The study also aims to identify the highest contribution of articles by the authors, the institutions, the journals, and the countries. Microsoft Excel and VOSViewer software were used for the analysis of the data extracted from the scopus database for the period 2003-2022. It found Bontis. N. of Canada stood out as the highest contributing author in knowledge management research; the Hong Kong Polytechnic University of China proved to be the top contributing institution in the field; the Journal of knowledge management ranks first amongst the most contributing journals in the field; and the United States was the highest contributing country. Furthermore, the study found four clusters based on the co-occurrence of keywords. "Artificial Intelligence," "Big Data," and "Knowledge Hiding" are the budding areas in the field. In the global economy, intellectual capital management is a strategically important resource that affects the market value of organizations. Efficient management of intellectual capital requires the use of new management methods and techniques. One of them is knowledge management, which, in particular, focuses on removing barriers to knowledge sharing. The survey was conducted among employees of the Glogow, Jawor and Trzebnica counties, and the results constitute a pilot study. The conclusions from the collected research results are surprising and imply the need to conduct research on a larger scale in the area of human capital. The collected results provide information to management staff in the field of talent management and knowledge. The results may constitute the basis for developing succession plans, succession plans and employee training. Additionally, the results can help recruiters create profiles of candidates with specific competencies. The main aim of the study was to analyse and evaluate the personnel management process in the Glogow, Jawor and Trzebnica poviats. The use of various research methods made it possible to achieve the intended research goals. The basic research tool used was a survey. Analyses of the literature, research reports, and statistical summaries were treated as a complement to the main research methods. Research and statistical data indicate that among smaller companies in Lower Silesia, there is a need for development programs related to acquiring, collecting, and sharing knowledge. The study identified a number of factors that constitute a significant barrier to the development of employees of the surveyed companies. They allowed us to verify the relationship between the factors that constitute the greatest barrier to the learning process and the impact of the company's size on it. The relationship between the barriers to intellectual development that constitute the greatest threat to the company and the factors that make it difficult for the company to recruit employees with the highest intellectual capital were also verified. The existing literature presents limited evidence of research on knowledge management in organizations within the organizations that are part of the social and solidarity economy. Thus, this study aims to examine the impact of knowledge transfer on absorptive capacity and organizational learning and, consequently, on the social performance of organizations within the social and solidarity economy of Colombia. This study utilizes structural equation modeling to analyze the hypothesized relationships, employing a custom survey of managers and associates based on a literature review conducted among 347 members. The findings indicate that the influence of knowledge transfer on organizational performance in the social sphere is insignificant. This result underscores the need for organizations to develop absorption capacities and adequate organizational learning strategies, which are crucial for survival and integral growth, thus strengthening the doctrine that nourishes this type of companies. This paper contributes to theory and practice in social and solidarity economy organizations by expanding current knowledge on social performance, focusing on knowledge transfer, absorptive capacity and organizational learning. Furthermore, it adds to the body of knowledge by highlighting regional specificities that could hinder the competitiveness of companies and by presenting a quantitative methodology little used for these topics, which allows inferences about the cluster of companies in a country. Given that knowledge is one of the most important human resource values, the manner of its acquisition, transfer and development within an organisation is crucial. It should come as no surprise that given the link between knowledge acquisition and development in most spheres, several individuals wish to restrict their knowledge to themselves, as it gives them value in the labour market. Yet, if we inculcate knowledge sharing habits among individuals at an early age, so that they not only impart but also acquire knowledge through knowledge transfer, information acquisition can become a mutually beneficial process for both providers and acquirers. In this study, we conducted a survey among university students in Hungary to investigate how open they are about sharing their knowledge with each other and what they expect from their peers in exchange for the information they have. Data analyses showed that students’ willingness to transfer knowledge and their expectations in return for the knowledge transferred are greatly influenced by their mutual relationships, but the strength of these relationships impact the rewards they expect for knowledge transfer. Purpose: This paper aims to close the gap between the generic concept of knowledge activities (KAs) and implementing them in the context of software engineering organisations concentrating on the non-technical aspects, such as team organisation and practices. Design/methodology/approach: This qualitative research used a questionnaire with practitioners such as software developers and team leads who were asked to provide feedback on a set of team practices and measures typically used in software engineering projects and assess their relation to the activities of acquiring, codifying, storing, maintaining, transferring and creating knowledge. The obtained results were analysed using frequency analysis and further descriptive statistics yielding a matrix linking the investigated team practices and measures to KAs. Findings: Team practices and measures commonly applied in software engineering can be facilitated to trigger particular KAs. While most of these team practices and measures originate from agile methods, they are not restricted to these. A purposeful composition can help in assembling a balanced set of KAs aimed at fostering given knowledge goals in software engineering organisations. Practical implications: By bridging the communication and terminology gap between knowledge management research and software engineering practitioners, this work lays the foundation for assessing software teams' knowledge profiles more easily and creating prerequisites for implementing knowledge management by facilitating common practices and measures often already part of their daily work. Hence, overhead can be avoided when implementing knowledge management. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study investigating application and relevance of KAs in the software industry by linking them to practices and measures well-accepted in software engineering, thus providing the necessary vocabulary for the implementation of knowledge management in software development teams. This requires distributed forms of leadership and linking of different knowledge sharing strategies, and careful combination of platforms with communities of practice.Online knowledge sharing provides pragmatic and timely strategies for health professionals in the UK to apply research evidence to their practice. This paper aims to illustrate the practice of utilizing organizational learning within one of the world's leading companies in the automotive industry to enhance its competitiveness. The objective of the paper is to provide detailed insights into the methods and fundamental mechanisms of knowledge transfer between the parent company and its subsidiaries, while examining both the obstacles and incentives for such knowledge transfer. Finally, this paper analyzes the concepts of knowledge and organizational learning, aiming to establish the relationship between theoretical concepts of organizational learning and practical, modern organizational solutions.
