The article reports that archaeologist Robert Rosenswig of the University of Albany and his colleagues mapped what is believed to be the full extent of the territory of Izapa, one of Mesoamerica's oldest cities, and divided the kingdom's settlements to determine how Izapans ruled and were ruled. Topics include the establishment of the site La Blanca, the construction of city and the daily experience of common people as indicated in excavations of the remains of domestic dwellings at Izapa.
