Abstract: The Divertor is one of the most technically challenging components of the ITER machine, which has the main function of extracting the power conducted in the scrape-off layer while maintaining the plasma purity. There are 54 Divertor cassettes installed in the vacuum vessel (VV). Each cassette body (CB) is fastened on the inner and outer concentric Divertor toroidal rails. The comprehensive assessment (in accordance with the Structural Design Criteria for ITER In-vessel Components: ITER SDC-IC) of the Divertor toroidal rails has been performed during design activity based on performing of thermal and stress analyses at operating conditions of neutron stage of ITER operation. This paper outlines the engineering aspects of the ITER Divertor toroidal rails and focuses on some critical regions of the present design highlighted by the performed structural assessment. The structural assessment has been performed with help of using Finite Element (FE) Abaqus code and based on criteria given by ITER SDC-IC. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

ITER in-vessel magnetic sensors play a key role for ITER plasma operation. Each sensor is accommodated in a platform mounted on the inner surface of ITER vacuum vessel and behind the blankets. A full set of engineering analyses has been performed on the platform to assess the feasibility of the design configuration. Electromagnetic Sub-Modelling technique has been used for very detailed evaluation of the EM loads due to 8 category III plasma disruption events acting on platforms at 23 locations from a full poloidal array. The two cases yielding highest EM load were selected to complete the structural assessment. Thermal analysis was performed for a platform located where maximum heat load is expected and the structural assessment was performed considering a pessimistic input load combination of highest EM loads and highest thermal stresses over ITER operation lifetime. An optimization process to reduce the EM loads and increase the structural strength of the platform was set up and it led to positive results on the structural integrity of the platform structure with the optimized design. • Developed a dedicated 1d EM "wire element" for ITER Blanket Manifold (BM) design. • Isolating BM supports from Vacuum Vessel (VV) is crucial to reduce EM Loads on BM. • BM in the upper port deserve special attention to assure structural integrity. A significant analysis effort was undertaken to address the challenging ITER Blanket Manifold [ 1 ] (BM) design requirements resulting from electromagnetic (EM) major disruptions and vertical displacements events in a very demanding neutronic environment. The complexity of the component, consisting of 360 cooling circuits (and their supports) attached to the rear side of 440 Blanket Modules and hydraulically connected to the Blanket Modules through a Coaxial Connector, required a detailed study of the current paths involving the pipes, the supports and the Vacuum Vessel (VV), to determine the layout of electrical connections and enable the minimization of electromagnetic loads. To this aim, a dedicated EM "wire element" was developed and validated for piping modelling. The development and use of dedicated 1d-wire element was necessary in view of the complexity of the toroidal and poloidal paths of the pipes, which would have made a full 3D modelling unmanageable. The EM analysis campaign performed led to an optimized layout of the electrical connections within the BM and between BM and VV, which provided a simpler and much faster means to analyze different scenarios in order to minimize the loads transferred to the VV and maintain the structural integrity of the Manifold. Abstract: ITER diagnostic components are installed within the vacuum vessel, and in vacuum vessel ports at the upper, equatorial and divertor levels. The installation and integration issues are different in each of these 4 locations. In the divertor, diagnostic components are concentrated in the cassettes which are remote handleable through divertor ports. Of the 54 divertor cassettes, 16 are dedicated to various diagnostics. These include both optical diagnostics where light is relayed through the divertor ports, and electrical sensors. Diagnostic equipment in the divertor cassette itself is integrated in a protected housing, called a “mirror box” cooled with the cooling water of the divertor cassette. In the divertor ports, diagnostic equipment is installed in a diagnostic support structure called the diagnostic rack. Permanent cabling for instrumented and diagnostic cassettes is routed along the port. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
