SUSTAINABILITY , *RESEARCH , *ACTION research - Abstract
The Cuexcomate Community Centre Project is carried out within the reconstruction context in Mexico, after the September 2017 earthquakes. The following notice shows the architectonic aspects of resilience and sustainability in the project, which main aim is to analyse the social, environmental, and economical scope in the design and construction of the aforementioned Centre by means of using Compressed Earth Blocks. Methodologically speaking, this research assembles data from the participative designing process, as well as the social housing production that nourishes researchaction issues. The co-produced research is a source of qualitative data supporting the design and construction of the Community Centre. The outcomes of the research shows, alongside the several stages of the participative process (management, design, construction, operation), how resilience is a rectangular process where the different agents may contribute to reducing vulnerabilities from the sustainable architecture. In this article, we provide a detailed account of the design process, implementation phase and results of a teaching innovation project aimed at training undergraduate and graduate students in ways to design, compose and disseminate scientific infographics. The project –titled Visualize It: Infographics on Government, Administration and Public Policy– involved a rather broad group of teachers from the Autonomous University of Madrid, in collaboration with teachers from other Spanish universities (UCM, URJC, UCLM, EHU-UPV and UdG), and was conducted during the academic years of 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. This article first offers a theoretical approach to the concept of infographics, and then it gives a detailed account of infographics usefulness both as a teaching and work-related tool. After that, we offer a description of the way in which this practice was designed, giving the reader a detailed account of the methodology used for its implementation and of the implementation phase itself. Then, we compile the results obtained in surveys distributed to students and teachers, aimed at measuring the effects, levels of success and failures of this practice. The article closes with a brief discussion of these very results, and with a list with some ways to improve and/or optimize it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Como aspecto mejorable, el alumnado destaca el escaso tiempo dedicado a la planificación, organización y ejecución del servicio, dado el carácter cuatrimestral de la asignatura Service-learning (SL) forms, together with action-research, a tandem that is being strengthened in universities to promote the quality of teaching through participation and social reflection. This article narrates the process followed in the Faculty of Teacher Training of the University of Santiago de Compostela to turn a classroom experience into a consolidated SL project, in collaboration with the National Organization for the Blind of Spain (ONCE). From this, an investigation has been proposed, which is framed within a project of R&D&I, and whose objective is to evaluate the satisfaction of the students who participate in the service-learning project, and in turn to know the skills acquired in this process. A mixed ex-post-factual methodology (quantitative-qualitative) has been followed. For this, two validated instruments have been used: a semantic differential (oswood scale) and semi-structured group interviews with the students involved. The results indicate a high degree of satisfaction with the project, by enhancing learning and future professional practice, as well as with the service provided to the community. As an aspect that could be improved, the students highlight the little time spent planning, organizing and executing the service, given the four-month nature of the subject Este trabajo se deriva de dos Proyectos del Programa Estatal de I+D+i Orientado a los Retos de la Sociedad (EDU2013-41687-R y EDU2017-82629-R) http://www.usc.es/apsuni/ SI

This article offers an insight into the emotional world of a group of young adult women who have attempted suicide. It is a product of a qualitative research titled: “The symbolization process and personal change in young adult women with suicide attempts, from the involvement in an individual psychotherapeutic guidance process." Emotions are approached as fields of meaning and scaffolds of linkage. The purpose of this article is to show that the emotional worlds of these young adult women with suicide attempts have a biographical anchor and refer, in turn, to social, historical, and cultural conditions with specific gender nuances. Under the action research method, the stories of six young adult women, between 24 and 40 years old, with at least one suicide attempt, who participated in thirteen psychotherapeutic monitoring sessions, each with recorded audio and informed consent, were recovered and analyzed., Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación

This article interconnects the history of Instituto Materno Infantil (IMI) - a component of the emblematic Hospital San Juan de Dios (HSJD) of Colombia - with that of its workers and with our participation through a collaborative ethnography filled by art and activism. IMI is one of the most important public hospitals of the country. It was closed down in 2006 as a result of the implementation of neoliberal reforms to the country's health care system. The article shows some intersections between art, activism and anthropology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[EN] University teaching of quality must be based on methodologies that have proved improvements in students’ academic, personal and professional development. With this aim, this study analyzed and compared the effects of two active methodologies: Action-Research and Service-Learning on perceived academic self-efficacy, academic engagement, and development of academic skills. The sample consisted of 113 university students aged 18-42 years (M=20.77, SD=2.95) from the subject Prevention of Learning Difficulties, divided into two groups: a group of 52 students who implemented the Action-Research (age: 18-24 years; M= 19.94, SD=1.73) and a second group of 61 students who worked based on ServiceLearning (age: 18-42 years; M=21.48, SD=3.54). Both groups report on their perceived academic self-efficacy, academic commitment and academic competencies before and after performing the classroom work associated with the corresponding methodology. The analyzes showed a significant increase in perceived academic self-efficacy and academic competencies (marginally significant) in the Action-Research group after implementing said methodology, while in the Service-Learning group a positive trend was shown in academic competencies. When comparing the results of both groups, the results indicated that the students from the Action-Research group experienced an increase in self-efficacy compared to the participants in the Service-Learning group. The findings of this study highlight the benefits of Action Research as a methodological strategy in the university context., [ES] Una enseñanza de calidad debe basarse en metodologías con demostrada eficacia para mejorar el desarrollo académico, personal y profesional de los estudiantes.

In recent years, the process of educational inclusion has taken a great importance among teachers. Teachers are looking for innovative tools, methodologies and resources to create inclusive classrooms that offer all the students a respectful learning process with equal opportunities. Among the different teaching methodologies, we find multigrade classrooms, a type of organization typical of rural schools, which is being developed in ordinary schools, creating heterogeneous groups in relation to chronological age and maturity levels, which can decisively favour inclusion in the classroom. An action-research is carried out to evaluate multigrade classrooms as a tool to promote inclusion in the Kindergarten Education cycle. To this end, this work evaluates the teaching work of four teachers in an ordinary school, which has a multigrade organization in this cycle, and seventeen infant pupils, who live together in a multigrade classroom. The analysis process aims to determine the effectiveness of this organization, as a promoter of inclusion, in an innovative and meaningful way.

The goals of this study consisted of the development and application of a methodology aimed at identifying college students with a higher risk of dropping out during the covid -19 pandemic and the proposal of actions reducing this risk. We used snowball sampling and contact networks to understand how to act to enhance academic motivation. A quantitative action-research methodology was applied to the community of students from STEM courses at CCET/UNIRIO and, with the data collected, we identified students that could have a higher dropout risk. We verified that 50% of responding students pointed out that changes in their personal lives caused by the covid -19 pandemic could prevent the continuity of their studies, this being the main dropout risk identified. Also, 41% of responding students identified a lack of academic motivation as a reason for dropout. From this and additional information, we were able to evaluate how connected and engaged with their academic lives these students were and identify actions that could contribute to maintaining their bond with the university. Finally, we held welcoming and dialogue events featuring teachers, staff, and students, in an attempt to reduce the dropout risk of the identified students. These events highlighted the students' expectations for more dialogue in the classroom, which supported the follow-up of the project.

We systematize in this article the experience resulting from a research and development project, centred on the use of digital portfolios as a learning and assessment strategy in Portuguese higher education, carried out under the European Erasmus + KA2 program. In the national context, the project was developed in a public polytechnic institution, and a pilot study was carried out with a dual purpose: to understand the perspectives of students and teachers regarding their experiences with digital portfolios, and to develop learning andevaluation strategies using this tool. The qualitative study – action-research – used questionnaires and interviews to collect data. The conclusions show significant contributions from the use of digital portfolios by students, such as the development of digital and procedural skills, and it is also recognized as a meaningful and motivating learning and assessment strategy. On the other hand, even though a significant part of the teachers already have experience with portfolios and use digital supports, it was found that digital portfolios are still little explored as a teaching-learning and assessment strategy. Thus, a set of actions was proposed with a view to improving the situation, creating conditions for teachers to be able to produce their own knowledge and profession.

- Abstract
The article exposes findings on the lack of ability of users to perceive the volume of water consumption and associate it with their daily activities. For such effect, the phenomenon of interfaces of water saving products on the market, which are more often focused on consumers who have more demand for it is explained (Moles, 1972). However, as products, they do not express their saving qualities through use, but only in times of purchase or paying consumption bills, where the user can easily confuse them with other factors, without perceiving their real impact and, after making confusing consumption estimates, they can identify any anomaly or simply when returns on investment in them are not perceived. The research findings are generated from the results of a methodological exercise of action-research, in which you can explore current solutions in search of new products, which beyond passive profit, incorporate readings about our acting in the dimension of consciousness, not so much in the approach to morality, as in that of the required responsibility (Schvarstein, 2003). Much of the theoretical foundation of the methodology used is presented. It describes and details its different stages on the basis of what is developed in the first cycle of the project Exhausts "Explorative interfaces of household water saving products development". It describes the application of the action-research methodology in the project and concludes by exposing its first qualitative findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The purpose of this research is to defend the thesis that the theoretical study promotes a more conscious educational performance when it is mediated in discussions among the colleagues and in the analysis of practical situations of everyday school life, with regard to the teaching purposes and practices that materialize it. For this, we present the analysis of data collected through the action research developed with a teacher of elementary school in a public school of Mato Grosso do Sul, in order to propose the realization of the activity category as recommended by the Historic-Cultural Approach. The results point to the development of a broadly favorable psychological disposition to the theoretical study and the change in teaching practice, as well as to the emergence of the germ of Developmental Education in the students and the teacher who participated in the Study Activity. This text presents results of a research that aimed to analyze the articulations between internship and action-research in the course completion works of a course of Degree in PE. With a qualitative approach of the documentary type, 23 works were characterized as action-research, carried out in the period from 2009 to 2019. In most of the researched works, action-research supports the organization of the pedagogical intervention that took place in the mandatory curricular internships, however, only 1 presented discussions in which the internship and action-research were articulated in order to reflect on teacher education. It is concluded that it is necessary to advance in the discussions and strategies of teacher education through research, especially through action-research.
