Abstract

The article presents a case study of a 67-year-old woman diagnosed with a retroperitoneal ancient schwannoma. She was complaining of faint abdominal discomfort and vaginal hemorrhea. She underwent an abdominal laparotomy with total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. The article discusses that schwannomas are caused by alteration or absence of the NF2 gene and characterized as calcifications and mixed echogenicity.
