A sandwiched mixed matrix membrane (MMM) based on a metal-organic framework-hydrogel hybrid exhibits eximious performance in the detection of mitoxantrone. Parts per billion-level sensitivity and good selectivity in serum among other analogous antineoplastics have been achieved. This flexible MMM can be used for point-of-care testing drugs in a biological medium.

A new luminescent hybrid material with dual-emission centers (Eu@Dye@TpDq hydrogel) based on a covalent organic framework (COF) has been successfully prepared. First, we designed a dye (coumarin) modified COF (TpDq) hybrid fluorescent material (Dye@TpDq), and then the material was formed into a hydrogel film, with an Eu3+ ion being introduced as another luminescent center into the material during the cross-linking process. As a dual-emission fluorescent platform, it exhibits a double-response towards different heavy metal ions: a ratiometric identification response to Cu(II), and a turn-off fluorescence response to Cr(VI). This research not only introduces a novel synthesis of Eu3+-functionalized double emitting COF-based hydrogels, but also inspires the development of COF-based multifunctional analytical tools. The luminescent hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) based films have become one of the most remarkable materials for optical application, thus, developing facile synthesis methods and establishing multifunctional applications for HOF‐based luminescent materials are essential. Herein, a dual‐emitting Eu3+‐functionalized HOF hydrogel film (1) is fabricated successfully. 1 emits a blue‐green long afterglow when turning off the UV lamp, and the long afterglow lifetime gets to 1.99 s. 1 performs great selectivity, high sensitivity, and low detection limit toward ofloxacin and flumequine, and the sensing toward ofloxacin and flumequine is in accord with the chroma and ratio modes. The fluorescent response mechanisms of 1 toward ofloxacin and flumequine are investigated in depth, which are further utilized to build an anticounterfeiting platform with high‐level security. The film‐based anticounterfeiting platform can conduct information encryption on demand inline with different fluorescent responses and can also fetch specific information by controlling the long afterglow intensity and excited light. This study not only provides a representative case of the fabrication of dual‐emitting Eu3+‐functionalized HOF‐based hydrogel film but also opens the possibility of HOF‐based film as intelligent luminescent materials with multifunctionalities. The ionic conductivity of gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) is usually provided by the added inorganic salt ions. Here, we report a salt-free poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) hydrogel electrolyte with an ionic conductivity of 3.7 × 10−3 S cm−1. The carboxylic groups of PAA can release free H+ ions to provide ionic conductivity, which not only simplifies the preparation of GPEs, but also benefits the fabrication of GPEs with high transparency (>95.6 % from 400 to 1000 nm). The as-prepared hydrogel electrolyte is assembled into an electrochromic (EC) device (ECD) by using Prussian blue/PAA GPE/hydrated tungsten trioxide. The fabricated ECD achieves a high optical modulation (72.7 %), fast responses (2.6 s for coloration and 2.2 s for bleaching), a high coloration efficiency (172.9 cm2 C−1) and good cycling stability (retaining 96.3 % of the original optical modulation after 1200 cycles). Moreover, the ECD has good energy storage properties, demonstrating a potential application for energy-storage smart windows. An in situ polymerized poly(acrylic acid) gel shows ionic conductivity by releasing free H+ ions, which can serve as a gel electrolyte for electrochromic devices.
