A new luminescent hybrid material based on silica aerogel and a boron-containing coordination compound with 8-hydroxyquinoline was created, and its physicochemical and spectral-luminescent characteristics were studied. A simple scheme for the synthesis of a hybrid luminescent material was developed. Simultaneously with the synthesis of the aerogel, the formation of a boron-containing phosphor was carried out using an isopropanol solution of boric acid and 8-hydroxyquinoline. Using in situ luminescent measurements, the mechanisms of the formation of boron-based luminescent complexes in isopropanol and tetrahydrofuran media were established. Both hydrophilic and hydrophobic silica aerogels were tested as matrices for the hybrid material. The formation of a thin layer of a boron-containing coordination luminescent compound on the highly developed surface of the SiO2 aerogel made it possible to strongly stabilize the aerogel structure and noticeably increase the thermal stability of the synthesized hybrid material. Hybrid materials were synthesized using a high temperature reaction. We used 80PbF2-20B2O3 glass as an inorganic matrix and various phenanthroline complexes europium(III) - as organic phosphors. The photoluminescence spectra of hybrid materials were measured just after synthesis and after heat treatment. Thin films (50–100 nm) of hybrid materials (HM's) based on inorganic matrices and organic phosphor are prepared by layer‐by‐layer vacuum deposition on glass substrates. The possibility of an exchange solid‐phase reaction between the organometallic phosphor (tris‐(8‐hydroxyquinolate) aluminum) and inorganic compounds without thermal heating of the sample volume is demonstrated. The reaction is stimulated by Pharos SP laser (1030 nm wavelength, 180 fs pulse duration, 100 kHz pulse repetition rate, maximum power 6 W) with localization of the reaction region to the focused laser beam waist (diameter of ≈1 µm). The resulting products have a photoluminescence (PL) intensity exceeding the PL intensity of the original organometallic phosphor. Local modification of HM's thin films by femtosecond laser beam allows creating 2D integrated optics elements. Abstract The new hybrid materials (HM's) are based on the phosphors used in OLED technology in inorganic PbF 2 -containing matrices: PbF 2 powders and low melting PbF 2 -based oxyfluoride glasses, were synthesized. We used highly effective thermostable phosphors: 4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,9-tridecafluoro-1- (1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl) nonane-1,3-dione - (1,10-phenanthroline) europium (III), 8-hydroxyquinoline complexes with metals and the individual organic ligand – 4,4,4-trifluoro-1- (2-naphthyl) butane-1,3-dione. Powdered HM's were prepared by co-precipitation from aqueous solutions. The effect of organic molecules or molecular fragments on dimension and morphology of precipitated PbF 2 particles, the luminescence properties of HM's were investigated for the samples obtained directly after the precipitation-drying procedure, and after the powders' calcination procedure. The change in the photoluminescence spectra after the heat treatment of the powders is caused by the proceeding of the exchange reaction between the metal complex and the matrix with the formation of Pb-complexes of different coordination is shown. HM (glasses PbF 2 B 2 O 3 , PbF 2 B 2 O 3 SiO 2 or PbF 2 B 2 O 3 SiO 2 ZnO phosphor) were obtained by the melt process in which the phosphor powder was submerged into the melt of the pre-synthesized glasses. Novel luminescent organic-inorganic hybrid materials based on 8-hydroxyquinoline metal complexes (Liq, Kq, Naq, Rbq, Mgq 2 , Srq 2 , Znq 2 , Scq 3 , Alq 3 , Gaq 3 , and Inq 3 ) have been synthesized by a high temperature exchange reaction with 80PbF 2 –20B 2 O 3 inorganic low-melting glass. The mechanical and optical properties, transmission spectra, emission an excitation photoluminescence, and luminescence kinetic of hybrid materials were studied. Hybrid materials (HM) were synthesized by high temperature reactions of inorganic glass matrices with an organometallic phosphor; B 2 O 3 and 80PbF 2 –20B 2 O 3 were used as glassy matrices. The organometallic complex was tris(4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-naphthyl) butane-1,3-dionato-(1,10-phenanthroline) europium (III), (Eu(NTA) 3 (Phen)). The fabricated HMs were shaped as thin glassy plates. The PL spectra of HMs based on fused B 2 O 3 contained only the bands corresponding to Eu 3+ ion transitions and were similar to the spectra of the Eu(NTA) 3 (Phen) powder. For the HM made from an unfused B 2 O 3 , we observed the 503 nm PL band attributed to the ligand, but the Eu 3+ lines were more intense. The 80PbF 2 –20B 2 O 3 -based HM had a broad PL band (480 nm), which was more intense than the narrow Eu 3+ lines. To explain the obtained results, an exchange reaction that was accompanied by partial decomposition of the organic complex in the glass matrix was proposed. The Eu 3+ displacement in an oxide–fluoride environment led to a decreased PL intensity to values that have typically been attributed to Eu 3+ doped inorganic glasses. Simultaneously, the ligands formed complexes with Pb, which resulted in an increased PL intensity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
