The aim of this study is to report aesthetic conservative treatment of double tooth anomaly. Case report: A 7.5-year-old patient presents an anomaly of the maxillary right upper central incisor with a bifid crown and an increased mesio-distal width and a central incisal notch, probably amenable to a gemination. Single tooth anesthesia and conservative enameloplasty procedure was performed, with universal adhesive and a single shade universal composite restorative material. Adhesive aesthetic restorations allow to resolve dental anomalies quickly, cheaply and asily for pediatric dentistry.

This article presents a case report of transmucosal implant with a convergent collar (PRAMA) inserted in the anterior maxillary esthetic area. The purpose of this study is to evaluate soft and hard tissue after 12 months. One implant was placed in the esthetic area. The implant was immediately loaded with a screwed provisional prosthesis. After 3 months the definitive screwed prosthesis was inserted. The patient was reassessed 12 months post-implant placement, and during the examination, the soft-tissue texture, color, and amount of keratinized tissue was checked. No statistically significant horizontal dimensional changes of the alveolar ridge were observed between each time-point. Mean soft tissue levels significantly improved between base-line and 12 months. The reduced buccal width of the transmucosal component gives more space to the gingival thickness and promotes stability and give a better seal. The use of transmucosal implant creates a shift of the inflammatory cell infiltrate away from the crestal bone level.

Two conditions are necessary for a correct and functional prosthetic implant rehabilitation: maintaining pre-implant soft tissue health and stability of bone tissue, in terms of implant osseous-integration and maintenance of optimal crestal attachment levels. In addition to these parameters - necessary for the longevity of the restoration - one of the main aspects of therapy is the achievement of a final aesthetic that reproduces as faithfully as possible the natural anatomy of the lost tooth and the associated soft tissues. To achieve this last objective, an implant system was designed and used by our group. This implant is characterized by a convergent trans-mucosal emergence fixture associated with a progressive closing system of trans-mucosa healing pillars (healing abutment). This guarantee, together with the micro and macrostructure of the implant, an immediate and highly aesthetic condition of the peri-implant soft tissues, and in the same time an optimal seal on the convergent neck of the implant itself.

The purpose of this research is to perform and verify the “modified 50° preparation” suggested by the authors. This procedure was performed with a scrupulous standardization of the tooth’s preparation and then of the laboratory techniques to produce a metal-ceramic crown, and the same for the crown cementation technique of on the preparation of the original sample. After the esthetic evaluations, the obtained sample was included in EPON resin and sectioned in the lingual-vestibular sense. The sections were then observed with an optical microscope in different magnifications for the final evaluations. The geometric design proposed presents the advantages of two great preparation techniques: 50° preparation and circumferential shoulder. The 50° bevel designed in first phase of preparation and the second phase of the circumferential 27° shoulder, together allowed to satisfy the following requirements: aesthetic, marginal accuracy, periodontal compliance, conservation and stability. However, this type of prosthetic preparation is not the only one, but it is one of the marginal designs in prosthetic dentistry.

Bone is a complexly structured tissue and hierarchically organized from macro to nano levels of dimensions. Biomaterial devices developed to replace and interact with bone tissues have been designed from the macro to nano perspective to provide suitable performance in acquiring primary and biological stability. Macro level designed features provide mechanical interlock and primary stability to implants inside the bone. Surface micro and nano structures influence cells behavior to promote the secondary or biological stability, reaching succesfull osseointegration.

CHARGE is an acronym referring to the aspects of this rare syndromic condition. Patients with CHARGE association are today considered as subjects lacking in pathognomonic dental alterations. The present study is aimed at adding to the body of evidence of the cases reported in literature and the continuous clinical research which show a clinical picture which is strongly associated with patients afflicted by this syndrome.We report a case-series of 8 patients with CHARGE syndrome. The dental features associated with CHARGE syndrome are from case-reports, but without a congruity that can lead to a definition of the dental condition typical of the CHARGE phenotype.The systemic problems affecting these patients are predominant in compromising their quality of life: this is the reason for a frequent lack of a diagnostics and interceptive phase, relative to oral diseases. We report new oral pathological conditions affecting CHARGE patients. Knowledge of these pathological conditions may induce dentists to carry out specific diagnoses of these patients, thus, avoiding the deterioration of oral conditions.

The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a quite rare odontogenic tumor, with an incidence rate of approximately 12 cases/year worldwide. Attenuated familial adenomatous polyposis (aFAP) is a syndrome characterized by a significant risk to develop colon cancer. The aim of the paper is to describe a case never reported before in the literature: an AOT developed in a patient with aFAP; moreover, we want to show how it appears 5 years after surgery and after the regeneration of the eroded bone tissue, using the Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) as filling material.We report the case of a female 18 years old patient, affected by aFAP; she comes to us with a swelling on the right hemi-face. We performed several radiological exams, and they showed a neoformation approximately 2 cm in diameter: this neoformation packed the upper right canine, therefore, we hypothesized a dentigerous cyst. We decided to proceed to open biopsy and enucleation of the lesion. An intra-operative endodontic treatment on the adjacent partially resorbed teeth was also performed. Finally, we performed a reconstruction of eroded bone tissue, by use of Platelet-Rich Fibrin as filling material. The samples fixed and embedded in paraffin have led to the diagnosis of AOT. After 5 years from the surgery, we did not find any clear sign of relapse, in addition, the use of PRF has favored an optimal osteogenesis at the surgical site.Undoubtedly, a correct diagnosis of AOT allows to have a more performing clinical and surgical approach. Furthermore, this case could document a new manifestation of aFAP in extra-intestinal site. The onset of an AOT is quite rare in the general population, and this rarity could represent a critical point for its diagnosis; AOT onset in a patient with aFAP is a finding that could represent a new element of diagnosis and, therefore, the starting point to perform a more effective therapy.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the abatement power of oral microbial loading of a new gel formulation based on the complex silver-2-mercaptobenzoate, chlorhexidine digluconate and didecyldimethylammonium chloride (named ADC) through polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The study sample consists of a group of 20 patients with chronic periodontal disease. Patients were over 25 years of age and did not undergo surgical or non-surgical periodontal treatment in the previous 6 months. The study sample was allotted into two groups of 10 patients each, homogeneous by age and sex. The test group received a bottle containing ADC gel, while the control group received an identical one containing placebo, similar to ADC in consistence, colour, taste and odour. Sub-gingival samples of four sites, one in each quadrant, of greatest probing depth in each patient were used. Microbiological analyses were performed at baseline and at day 15. Paired t test was performed to detect statistical significant reduction in total bacterial loading and oral pathogens in the study groups. The analysis showed a statistically significant reduction in the total bacterial loading evaluated pre- and post-treatment ( P = 0.029) in the study groups. In the control group, the decrease in total bacterial loading was not significant ( P = 0.279). Clinically, ADC gel does not have any side effects and discomfort such as pain, burning, tingling sensation or numbness and produces no adverse reactions in time. Our study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a new chemical formulation with antibacterial properties to use for daily oral hygiene with a preliminary study. Our results showed a statistically significant reduction in total bacterial loading after treatment, but the limitations of our study do not allow us to demonstrate the clinical efficacy of the ADC gel.
